Thanks, mate. Great tutorial! Just finished fitting the new awning fabric and your step-by-step was invaluable. Especially your advice when re-tensioning the springs.

Great video, we are 2 chicks and did it by ourselves, the only hiccup was that I put the awning back onto the van from the wrong end (the end that wasn’t splayed) and it did my head in not to rip the awning. Thanks heaps, was a great video to follow 👍

Worth pointing out that he winds tension on the cam lock end in the wrong direction. I followed this vid and it had no tension. I corrected it by leaving the awning attached at the roof but taking the arms off at the top and bottom of the van, leaving them connected to the awning, and then winding each arm so that when it is hanging down from the barrel I spin it up on the side of the van…. I did this both sides until I had sufficient tension…

Great video. I didnt have anyone to help me so i had to do it a different way without unwinding and disassembly of the springs or awning tube.

Great tutorial guys. However, please help put my mind at rest. I'm double checking that when tensioning the springs they are turned clockwise at each end (as in the video). This seems a little counter intuitive to me as they are turned in opposite directions to each other. I have reassembled, ending up with weak tension despite having extra turns on each spring. Do i just add more turns, or should one end be turned counter-clockwise? Thanks in advance.

Hey mate! Good pickup!! Yes you are correct both need to be wound the same way! - one clockwise and one anticlockwise. I actually corrected this off camera but didn’t show this in the vid! Sorry for the confusion

Why didn’t I see the black pull up/down strip of material when you inserted the new vinyl ? Curious.

It may have been put in afterwards. It just slides into the second groove of the awning. Thanks for watching
