Absolutely stunning. Have heard the Feathertop summit is also fabulous if you get up there in time to see the sunrise. How lucky were you with the weather! Just perfect! Congrats on another great video!
Annie B, I would definitely go back again to do the sunrise! Can’t believe how fortunate I was with the weather. Couldn’t have asked for better conditions. Thanks so much for your comment!
I've done a lot of walking in Tassie over the the years but did just did my first Victorian Alps summer trip last weekend. It was really beautiful. We did the Alpine crossing last weekend and I can endorse Hamish's business for the shuttle from Hotham to Falls. He was comparatively cheap to the other businesses running similar services and nice chilled guy to share a car with for an hour or two
Great to hear you got up into the Vic high country. It's beautiful up there. Hamish is great. Have used his shuttle service a couple of times now and he's really knowledgeable about the area. Thanks for watching!
I just watched again to cheer me up. You got this walk done just in time so well done I was literally planning to do it this weekend, but your video is a pretty good compromise. Take care
Thanks mate, this one really was just in the nick of time and really was brilliant. These few weeks were supposed to be a peak hiking period for me this year but have obviously had to put plans on ice for now, as we all have. Will make us appreciate those future hikes all the more when we can get back out there again. Stay safe and keep planning those next hikes!
Hi, As a very novice walker, I would be really interested if on your videos you could briefly let us know just what you were having on your lunch and snack breaks...Great info and wonderful shots....cheers, Jules 🏕
Thanks Jules! Great to hear you're getting into some hiking. For some details of the types of food I take on my hikes, check out a couple of my videos which talk specifically about that. ua-cam.com/video/bx9CQk9zDLU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/c4lMLnPrkRg/v-deo.html I'm always looking for new types of food to add into the mix as well but hopefully that will give you some ideas of what you could pack. Happy Hiking!
Thanks Susie! You should definitely give this one a go. The walk along the Razorback is just stunning when it's clear like on the day I did it. It's now up there with my favourite hikes in Victoria. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Happy hiking!
Thanks for watching. You definitely can do the hike in one day and many people do. It’s about a 22km hike whether you do it as a return or point to point between Diamantina Hut and the town of Harrietville. I would recommend doing a return hike along the Razorback Track as that has far less elevation change and is spectacular views all the way when the weather is clear. You would want to be starting the hike fairly early in the morning to make sure you’re allowing for enough time to finish it in daylight. Note that in the warmer months, the car parking around Diamantina Hut can get very full on weekends as this is a popular hike. Also, make sure you’re properly prepared with enough warm clothing as the weather in the mountains can change quickly. Hope you get to do it sometime soon. It’s a fantastic hike.
Great video & good move setting up camp at Fed Hut, just needed some wine or whisky in a soft flask for the sun set. 3rd option is start Harrietville & head up Bon Accord track (difficult climb) to campsite on day 1, along the Razorback to Feathertop, then down Bungalow spur to Harrietville all on day 2 (40k total approx). Can stretch to 3 days & Feathertop sunset & sunrise if you stay 2nd night @ Fed Hut Stunning scenery which ever way you do it
Thanks for the kind comment and yes, a beverage at camp would have been the perfect way to top it off. Didn't think to pack that! Good to know about that other option so thanks for posting that. Would love to do that hike again at some point. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great video. I am heading up to Dinner Plain in January and hope to do this walk. I'll be doing out and back on the Razor-Back as a day hike. All depends on the weather of course. I hope it is as good as you had.
Thanks BigBird! The Razorback return is a great way to do it I reckon. Not a lot of elevation change and amazing views the whole way provided the weather is clear enough. I'm sure you will love it!
That was honestly a great video mate! Stunning views and very well put together video, I appreciate all the walk by's (then having to walk back for the camera haha) You used the new M50 right? Thanks for sharing and defiantly keep them coming!
Aussie Hiker, that is a really nice comment, thank you mate! Yep, this was the first hike testing out the new camera. Will aim to keep improving with it as I learn how to get the best out of it. Appreciate you watching as always!

@@FreedomOnFoot No worries buddy, hope it gets more views because definitely a goodie! And you could tell the video and sound quality was on point
I live in Bright and those fires did not get within 40 kms!
I'm sorry to say fella but I saw more of you on the video than what I saw of the country side
No worries, thanks for watching all the same.
Alpine daisies looked lovely at the start. You are rather brave to not be wearing gaiters, I think? Thinking of snakes.
Yes, I was taking a bit of a punt with snakes. Left the gaiters at home for this trip but did have the snake bite bandage in my first aid kit!
