What a trio! We’ve waited for so long for such a powerful trio that spins along Jarrett or Mehldau offerings. Pianist Shirinow displays perfect knowledge of the Jarrett and Mehldau idiom and In the second piece I hear Lyle Mays reincarnating, building his solo from silence to a continuous gradation, reminding pieces like Half Life of Absolution. And: Shirinov doesn’t come as epigone but as a complex thinker in its own right, providing of excellent technique in order to produce flow and a Trip factor in his soloing. The whole trio acts perfectly homogenous in timing and phraseology. This trio is a bliss!
