I was born in 91 and I think it’s good but my dad also raised me on his oldies of all decades so maybe that’s why I appreciate it. I feel like if you develop a certain level of appreciation for music in general you will reach a point where you can see the beauty / talent in any genre or timeframe though.
hey I LOVE MUSIC like this and i was only born in 1987 !!!!!!! i LOVE the 60's and late 50's and 70's music and i love this band !!!!!! lol. I am also a MUSICIAN too.
That's crap....I don't understand your logic you can't hoard a famous song because of your age .....good music is timeless and continues to feel just as good to new listeners or remind them of a certain time in their life as it did for you . Their is no timeline for a classic song......that's. Just plain nuts.
I am a 69 y/o woman I am so happy to have lived in that era, songs that had meaning great voices great groups all of us that enjoy these songs are blessed❤
Right on my sister. We all were blessed to experience the music, the connections to the music and the means each of us interpreted from the music. Loved this song...I was a young guitarist myself doing this era. It seems we ran in to TJ and these guys several times a week on various flights; we waved and they waved...a wonderful time in my life We got to know them from afar so to speak. It is December 13, 2023, and I'm still listening to this epic song. I was 10 years old when this song came out. Time sure does fly by, but good music never fades.
Life seemed pure then, innocent, open, welcome, sincere--"all you have to do is look for your soul and open your mind." Time sure has changed with one exception: "all you have to do is look within your mind and seek the Owner of your soul."
In 1969 I was either in eighth or ninth grade. There is a reason this music is timeless. It slipped by the censors. It's genuine and from the heart. It resonates with everyone. You can feel it. It sounded great even on a tiny FM transistor radio (batteries included)!
Absolutely I remember my youth living at saratoga lake New york,on a warm summers morning the lake nice and calm just beautiful memories, the parties we had in the evenings on the beach only 14,15, best years of my life
I'm on the other side of 60. 🤫Countless. 😉 The music of my gen was pure magic. Timeless. If only we could be the same. When I hear these songs I close my eyes, and it takes me back to '69. Gold 💛 ✌
Omg love this song and this group! They were awesome when they came out with this beautiful song! So many beautiful memories memories. Love this song!!!!;❤❤❤❤❤
I was 3 when this song in 1967 and I still love it. Our generation's music should be playing on the radio now. The world needs love and peace and that was what our generation was all about.
It's always great to hear a rock n' roll legend who can perform a live version of an old classic hit and equal the quality of the original. Like John Fogerty, Tommy James only got better with age.

An amazing song that captured many hopes and dreams of the early 1970's. "People are changing". "Better get ready, See the light." "Don't you give up now." "Look to your soul and open your mind." Truly inspirational.
I think every positive thing about this marvelous song has already been said. For me personally, this song was about my coming home to 'the world' from 'Nam'. I went down to the Atlantic ocean near my home, smoked a joint, sat there, looking at the beauty of the water and sunlight, with this song in my head, and at that moment everything was alright. Thank you, Tommy!
I absolutely LOVE THIS SONG and TOMMY JAMES and THE SHONDELL. I danced and still dance this song, one of my favorite songs of this amazing group. We need more music like this one, it is sooooo good! Thank God that I downloaded this song and the whole album of Tommy James, he and his band were magnificent!!! An icon of great music 🎶 Love you, Tommy, and always will . Just so you know, this song is PRE-RECORDED. They LIP SYNC the entire song. Tommy just hit the PLAY button on the tape machine and they just fake it !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are hearing the results of a Recording Studio !!!
Harry Johnson This much I feel comfortable telling you. This is not a 100% studio cut overlaid onto a live show but you may STILL be partially correct. From what I can tell, it doesn't looked lip synced and there is a workaround that would have given them the ability to pull this off and look natural doing it. First of all they appear to be in a smaller club setting and cheating is damn well impossible to do in an intimate setting like that. Here's what they could have done which would make both you and I correct. It looks like they had a "Pro" production company come in (Which it appears they did) and video tape plus multi-track the show which would allow them to go back at a later date and completely remove and replace the live vocals with studio cuts if they decided too or even just to go back and fix or any rough edges on the vocal work and replace what was needed with the studio vocals. The same thing would apply with any lead work or any other instrument work to polish out any mistakes or live choppiness like the normal stage noises you would expect during a live show. like effect pedals being kicked in or out etc. This way they preserve the timing aspect so you don't see people singing and playing out of sync like you see especially on older music videos where the artist or band tries to follow the original "studio" track. I seen Paul McCartney on a live television video from the 70's with his band Wings where they took the actual studio cut and tried to overlay it over a video for a television show and it was "Caption Obvious" You would hear Paul sing and he was not even up to the microphone nor was his lips moving plus he was throwing in "hero chops" on the bass that he was not physically playing during the live cut but in his defense back then they did things that way because the television station probably was not set up well enough to make it sound good live over air.
xtremenortherner It sounds "real time" to me too. Yeah they could have taken a live cut into the studio and polished up the mix and even possibly redid a few backing vocals if they felt the need to but that's about as far as I would take it because it just has a live feel to me too.
My all time 'summer' song. Love his voice, the guitar licks......no song brings back my teenaged years like this one! Soon to be 70 but I'm young again singing along with this!!

In October 2008, James and the three surviving members of the original Shondells reunited in a New Jersey studio to record once again. The group had disbanded because its members needed time away from the pressure-filled recording business, but they remained close friends, even though they no longer were recording together. After not playing together for 37 years, the group recorded an album, I Love Christmas.
I was ten years old when this song was released. My older sister bought the 45 and we played it endlessly. Even after all these years the words still ring true," peace, love, and botherhood." We just need to put them into action in our daily lives!

Definitely a Summer Song
the sound is mesmerizing, I must confess, I had to replay more than once....masterful rendition..
Yeah, johnnyboy, the audio blew me away taking into consideration it was a club. Bass tore it up and the vocals were beautiful harmonization
I was ten years old when this song was released. My older sister bought the 45 and we played it endlessly. Even after all these years the words still ring true," peace, love, and botherhood." We just need to put them into action in our daily lives!
