season 10 was a cultural reset for the 2010s. Even the shark in the water teaser was the beginning of the Renaissance. Like you have to watch the circus themed teaser first, then watch the season
SO TRUE. Like honestly you can skip S8-9 and just start with S10. Characters are more likeable by this point, they rebranded, the teaser trailer was AMAZING, and the soap opera format every night made it an iconic summer.
At this time I was moving so I didn’t watch it. I will never forget I was at a school program and when it was done, I was sitting at a table with my friend. We were talking about the show and she brought the death up. I was in pure shock and started crying. I can’t even describe the emotional devastation.
The night the episode premiered, I watched 90% of it but suddenly switched the channel cause I felt like most of the episode was boring and nothing was happening. I clicked back and JT WAS DEAD. Little did I know the biggest thing was about to happen. I was beside myself.
JT and Mia were an awful couple . There was nothing cute about their relationship . She was his rebound and he wasn’t over Liberty . I think he also dated Mia because she had a kid and that gave him an idea of what him and Liberty could’ve been with their son

Spinner and Jimmy's friendship went on a JOURNEY that married couples could never complete. Although irl NOBODY in Jimmy's shoes would have forgiven Spinner, I think the way they were able to rebuild as bff again was so beautiful. The writers did an amazing job with that part of the show!

Then spinner and jay went in there and Spin noticed rick was in there because he left a mess in the sink, so he blamed it on Jimmy while having a “conversation” with jay
Degrassi covered a lot of heavy topics. Eve some adult shows wouldn't cover. Eating disorders, rape, abuse, substance abuse, the pressure of sex, puberty, bullying, false accusations, rumors, gossip, all the rollercoasters of friendships, homophobia, racism, people dying, the complications of romance, depression, suicide, all of it.and the obligatory school shooting episode. The one about eating disorders hit me the most since at the time of watching, I was struggling with bulimia.

Jimmy is the best. Jt and liberty deserved better Toby deserved his own girl. Emma and Sean should’ve been end game and manny is a queen. Emma is just a lot. Ashely should’ve left forever and Ellie was annoying obsessing over Craig. Marco is a gem I think spinner redeemed himself and Paige gets better

I saw Andrea's interview too on her chanel. She was pretty much a glorified extra. Producers of degrassi always used the black characters to support the white character's storylines and got none of their own sadly. Hazel's title was just paige's best friend or Jimmy's girlfriend and nothing more

Yeah, Holly J's redemption arc is top tier. What I like most about it is that it doesn't adhere to the trope of a mean girl becoming a better person after being violated or sexually assaulted by a guy, which we see way too often in media (Degrassi included).

Kendra and Toby were going to have the "young sex" storyline in s3 but Kendra's actress's parents pulled her from the show because of it. It was going to be a bigger plot so when it fell apart they totally lost the thread for him and then never picked it back up

jimmy was honestly one of the least problematic characters on the show. he obviously went through the trauma of the shooting and what-not, but he literally didn’t have like any other drama on the show. he was always a positive aspect on the show, and I just loved when he was on the screen because he made everything better. (also he’s just a cutie hehe)
Jimmy usually had issues cause of the people around him like terri spinner ash and sean...he needed better pals...period...they ruined his life...constantly...even though he didn't hang out with jay him too...paige in small doses was bad too...hazel was cool but he dropped her for ellie smdh then ended up alone and then screwed over by ash again smdh

I grew up on Degrassi. There’s Degrassi St., Degrassi High, Degrassi, Degrassi TNG and (unfortunately) Degrassi Next Class. I watched all of them. I love how they cover real life issues such as school shootings, teen pregnancy, addictions, domestic violence etc.
Ladylocs Asia Next Class isn’t that bad. Especially season 3. The only issue is that it should just be one whole season instead of 4 small seasons. It’s super easy to watch in a day or two.
If you liked the kids at the end at all, even a tiny bit, Next Class is tolerable just not great in any way. But thankfully it takes like two days tops to get through. Jonah, Grace, and Winston were the only ones getting me through that.

Eating disorders, rape, abuse, substance abuse, the pressure of sex, puberty, bullying, false accusations, rumors, gossip, all the rollercoasters of friendships, homophobia, racism, people dying, the complications of romance, depression, suicide, all of it.and the obligatory school shooting episode.
The one about eating disorders hit me the most since at the time of watching, I was struggling with bulimia.
And they did it without glorifying or romanticizing most of them
just like their iconic tagline, degrassi.. it goes there !

Like no scene of someone talking to Jimmy that could lead him to forgiving Spinner? If a deleted scene exists then it was a bad decision to remove it. Speaking of there's deleted scenes that A. Make Ashley look worse and B. There's a deleted scene where Rick runs into Raditch after he comes back to school after the quiz bowl mess and Raditch does nothing
Degrassi was great but it was clear that they sidelined (or completely axed) the black/poc characters to give the white cast members complex storylines. Hazel's actress has spoken out about it.

Ok but just letting you know. Most of the parents (Snake, Emma’s mom, Joey, Caitlin, etc.) come from the original Degrassi show in the 80s (Degrassi Jr High/ Degrassi High). Degrassi Next Gen is a spin-off. Pleaseee watch DJH/ DH!!! I love it so much!!

I grew up on Degrassi. There’s Degrassi St., Degrassi High, Degrassi, Degrassi TNG and (unfortunately) Degrassi Next Class. I watched all of them.
I love how they cover real life issues such as school shootings, teen pregnancy, addictions, domestic violence etc.

I refused to watch Degrassi next class. But I grew up with next generation.
Ladylocs Asia Next Class isn’t that bad. Especially season 3. The only issue is that it should just be one whole season instead of 4 small seasons. It’s super easy to watch in a day or two.
If you liked the kids at the end at all, even a tiny bit, Next Class is tolerable just not great in any way. But thankfully it takes like two days tops to get through. Jonah, Grace, and Winston were the only ones getting me through that.
No one has ever agreed with me that Liberty was THAT GIRL! She truly was the blueprint in this show
