    Mate just recently I got my set of dogs from you guys and that little bushing definitely fit inside the hole and took up most (not all) of the slop so I used it. There is a whole lot more gap on the opposite side. My friend had some chain catchers (the round plastic part) machined up in brass and nickel coated, because we all know the 3 rules of the modern lumberjack:
    1) Look good
    2) Have fun
    3) Safety third
    I'm in your video feed just double checking the install procedure for the suspension kit. Thanks. My 500i is now sexy AND functional.

    I’m setting up your dogs on your clutch cover on my saw and was struggling with the little c clip and decided to try UA-cam for tips not expecting to find anything and found this! You are awesome thank you so much

    Thanks Gordy. I was looking for a how to video a year ago on this and found nothing. I’ve lost so many c clips doing it dumb ways. Thanks for showing us the easy way

    Bought a 462c from Horners, they installed your dogs on it for me. Them dogs are aggressive! A light touch on the saw is all that is needed when doged in.

    I wish I had seen this yesterday!... I installed the Stihl kit yesterday.... had a terrible time getting that little bushing in. I did get it, but it was a bit of a chore. Love the Dogs! Thanks.

    I put the small spacer on the inside side of the chain catcher post and when you tighten the nut it crushes into the dog hole and prevents the post from spinning so you can tighten that nut. The spacer is machined to a tight tolerance and will press into the dog hole as you tighten the nut.

    When I added the 3 point dogs to my 572 I went ahead and mounted the chain catcher post to the inside dog, that way the outside could mate with the inside easier since only my bar nuts keep the dog on because the crappy coarse threaded tiny middle screw stripped so I just leave that out. Plus once the cover is installed you don't have access to the inner dog mounting screws.
    In case anyone is wondering the West Coast 3 point dogs are freakin awesome!
    I plan on adding them to my 550xp mk 2 also.
    Well done Gordie! Another well made product!
    The raker guages are great too!

      I wanted to add for clarification that this applies to the cover that comes with the full wrap handle kit.

    And what you said about the chain roller given support that's 100% true because I ordered the three-point dogs from you and I was dumb and I did not put the chain catcher on and within 2 months my dogs broke in half and it was my fault I did order a new set cuz I love them from you but yeah I learned to use chain catchers definitely and you would think after 20 years of cutting I would know that LOL

    Installed WCS dogs on my MS362 last week and i just took a needle nose locking pliers clamped it on the end of the Stihl catch rod and unscrewed it. No disassembly required. Then reinstalled on the new dog, outside first too.

    I did find that I had to shave down the roller for my 261 when I put your guys dogs on it. Unless I had the wrong roller for the saw but it was my assumption that Stihl doesn’t make a roller type chain catch for the 261.

    • @adelarsen9776
      @adelarsen9776 Рік тому +2

      You just use a 1mm washer under both of the bolt holes on the outside dog. It spaces it out enough for the roller to be free.
      Your problem is common with the 261 and WCS dogs. 2 small washers will fix it.

    I was just wondering what is the purpose of the chain catcher/roller cause I never used them am thinking about buying the dogs for mine stihl ms271

  • @treemeisterz7477
    @treemeisterz7477 Рік тому

    I blew out the dog holes on the STIHL stock clutch cover and I thought it was because of the WCS dogs putting too much leverage. Now I realize it was cuz I didn’t put them on how you showed, I remember having to bend the chain catcher to get it all to sit into place.

    I got the 3 point dogs for the echo 7310 and the roller got lost and so did the bar. Or maybe I took the bar off after the roller fell out. Well it looks like my issue was that I didn’t use the lock ring cause I had no idea what it was

  • @comingtofull-ageinchrist6736

    yeah, I was looking at the chain catcher. My Stihl 261C only came with the inside dog. It doesn't have the outside dog. I definitely plan to upgrade all that along with the steel clutch cover, and the chip deflector. Too bad you don't carry bar and chains.

    What is the advantage to not having the dogs fully tight on your cover plate?

    • @mthompson
      @mthompson Рік тому

      It's only loose to allow for easier alignment of the clutch cover and the outside and inside dogs with the chain roller.... Once it's all put together, everything is tightened down.

    Why can't you drill out the bottom of that and put that bushing in there with a little bit bigger drill bit can you😊
