Eight years ago, my wife died and left me a one year old son, Dani, along with other two older boys. He is 9 now. I tried my best to keep an eye on Dan. I raised him by myself. This song breaks my heart. Thank you ABBA.
Nice that you shares your difficult time, and You Can! (keep an eye on Dan) Lots of Love from Maria in Sweden.
@@mariaolsson8345 Thank you Maria. My love to Sweden.
After 8 year tragedy in your life do you feel stronger after listening ABBA in 2021?
I’m so sorry for your loss, God bless you and your boys.
Never in my life would I have imagined listening to an ABBA song minutes after its release.
Same here!!! It said the video was not available in my country (USA) and I had to use VPN connection to another country and it worked!
@@shawnlong4039 Well worth the effort!
Same, it really feels weird, in the best possible way lol. Excited!

The way Benny linked this song to SOS with the simple piano accords at the end is just another proof of the genius he is. I can only see now how much I have missed these four talented people in the last 40+ years. I hope they never stop. ❤️
Me too
I knew it!
the main "Keep an eye on Dan" is linked to SOS's beginning.
Benny is an absolute maestro! And the coolest Swede ever
@@TeltStory Interesting, yes, there is some similarity there, no question. I wonder whether this was intentional, it wouldn't be a surprise.
Only Agnetha can cry with her singing, that goes straight to my heart. 💛🧡❤💜
I love the way she says “mummy.”
@@christine3043 she reminisced 'SOS' piano tune with that.

B&B backing vocals beginning at 3:02
Seven on Sunday to get him,
She must have lost some wight
She looks better than ever.
Funny how quickly it takes me
Right back to our first date
Have I lost her forever?
I'll keep an eye on my Dan
I'm a loving man
Your know that I'll never upset him
I'll keep an eye on my Dan
And I won't forget you'll be here
On Sunday to get him.
It's just incredible how ABBA tells us this history's other side using backing vocals - pure geniuses.
FINALLY I FOUND IT!!!
Thank you! Love this part of the song.
Oh! The use of the ‘SOS’ refrain at the end is just the icing on the cake. Superb song.
Oui la cerise sur le gâteau
It caught me by surprise and I freaked out.
It's almost like a distant sequel...
If sound is a time-machine then here it is. The Album is phenomenal.
I'm getting goosebumps as I hear this song. Just great!
100% with you - this ABBA as we loved it 40 years ago...not less and not more - a really GREAT song !!! Love it !!!
Yes, brilliant.
Beautiful flawless voices that picked up where they left off
Yes, The Album is phenomenal, but Voyage is not that bad either. 😉
This song was the biggest surprise on the album for me. I had no idea this would be the style chosen, but I’m glad it is the way it is! Only Abba can name a song Keep An Eye On Dan and have it be a masterpiece!
a masterpiece? really?!
@@PC-vg8vn Yes, the best song on the album!
Agreed 100%
@@PC-vg8vn Really the best...
@@petterhansson7312 That doesnt say much then.
This is just phenomenal
I was skeptical that something on this album would live up to "Don't Shut Me Down". It's insane how good this song is. I think a lot of this album is a "retrospective", going through Abba's different styles and different musical styles of the world, too. I feel like this is definitely the one that pays tribute to "The Visitors", my favorite album of theirs. The darker subject matter, taking place after the divorce, and heavy emphasis on synthesizers convinces me. The fact that it ends on the signature opening notes of SOS is not just a cool easter egg, but also thematically ties in since that was their first big single about trouble in their marriage. Spectacular.
Abba is to good for this time.
The orchestration made me think it was a throwback to arrival/the album
Their song "No Doubt About It" gets me going too! And the more I hear it, the better it gets! Would love to hear an Agnetha lead version as she has some killer rock notes/voices, but it's real cool to see Frida own it also.
Don't forget both SOS and Keep An Eye on Dan was a lead by Agnetha.
Great analysis. I was thinking the same thing. The link to The Visitors album and track is very strong. And the piano end tribute to SOS is just gold. It gave me goose bumps when I heard it.
This song is stunning. The melody is as catchy as anything ABBA has ever written and as a divorced father myself the theme resonates personally with me.
big time!
It’s a really sad song and at the end you can hear the piano line from SOS so maybe they are tied together somehow.
@@jamsistired Yess Benny is brilliant
You and me both buddy.
The song seems to be coming from a Women's point of view giving her Son to his father for the weekend
The fact she notes he's lost some weight. She hasn't seen his father in sometime
The music and Agnetha's delivery is top notch!
Yes, Nobody can do that as well as our Agnetha...
Well ,you can mostly hear Frida s voice.
I’ve been waiting for this album for 40 years and I’m not even that old
Same here
😂😂
Me too. And man, I am so happy I made it to see this happening!
I was 9 years old in 1982 when the group decided to take that break, Almost 40 years on in 2021 at the age of 48, this is the longest i've waited, Well worth the wait and i'm Happy. Great album.
Love that. Me too and I am 😂💖🥳
Who gets chills and goosebumps when it goes from solo Agnetha to that trademark blend of Agnetha and Frida singing in unison? No greater combination of voices in the history of popular music.
Classic ABBA!
Yes, one of the best parts when THIS starts: 00:53
The magic 3rd voice The true sound of ABBA!!!!
For all of those who are asking, "Who is Dan?"...If you have been in a family that split up, mother and father broke up/divorced, having to shuttle between mother and father in custody battles as I had to do growing up; if you ever had to wonder "Whose house am I going to sleep at tonight?".........YOU ARE DAN!!!!!!!!!!
listening to a new abba song minutes after it releases is something straight out my wildest dreams, this feels surreal
And slightly nauseating
Tell me about it... I remember walking through a foot of snow to buy The Visitors when it first came out!
@@hunkhk how come?
This is my favorite song in the album.
Abba masterpiece...I have a son called Dan and have tried to keep an eye on him since my divorce 15 years ago...I feel very emotional listening to this song but also Abba have delivered as only they can and for thst I'm thankful ❤ 💙
gradually realizing the subject matter and being like “oh my god” as a child of divorced parents who traded me back and forth on sundays… how is abba so good at everything
probably the best of the album in my opinion.
“Don’t Shut Me Down” is my favorite song on the new album, though this one comes close too.
Instant haunting hook intro line, then incredible evocative vocals lyrics, followed by soaring chorus and duets, driving beats, impeccable studio production, along with depth and meaning. In other words: ABBA.
Perfectly said!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Short and evocative comment ,but hit the point ,i like it, thank you.
I thought maybe Dan is the guy who upset Tammy.
ABBA crushed it.

Amazing song and brilliant reference to SOS.

Same except I’m born 1998 myself.
This album seems to be more about looking back, past things that happened, focussing on the present day, perfectly matching the lives/feeling of their original fans and their own lifes. Still, it feels like an ABBA album and the production is as good as ever. 🙌 Thank you!
Love how you snuck S.O.S. in there near the end. 😃
Edit: Thank you for the likes. 😊
YES! SOS!
Recognised also the first cords of SOS instantly! Nice to see some real hardcore ABBA-melody connaiseurs!😉👍

I always respect an artist who acknowledges his, her or their past.
I hear more summer night city with gimmie gimmie gimmie with SOS nod ending, but also sounds like a lost track to the visitors album
Keep an eye on our beloved Abba. Never let them be forgotten.
Great song. This is a single! Fantastic vocals by Agnetha!
Unbelievable why they dont play this song on the radio. It blows EVERYONES head off.
Magnificent song. Should be nr1 worldwide.
Radio 2 is the biggest station in UK and they play it.Capital only play about 10 songs a day on repeat!
if they get to a 5th single, i think this might be it
(after When You Danced With Me, an obvious radio release)
Because radio is not like the old days when they were generous about playing to everyone’s tastes.

Ive been playing this over and over, its one of my favourite songs on the album, yet I hadnt spotted this at all. It makes it even better!
Thank you so much, I just love this part but couldn't figure out all of the lyrics. Are you sure Benny sings too though, sounds like just Björn to me?
@@MrClassic. Well, it's hard to tell but it sounds that they are singing together. Benny didn't do much singing at all. He had the lead vocals on Suzy-hang-around on the Waterloo though.

Have I lost her forever ? Wow, the characters are in the same universe in SOS!
@@niclas.olsson I LOVE THIS!!!!!
This song is really good. But the part when all the four members are singing is amazing. They sound great together.
The backing vocals by the "boys" are insanely good. Manic and the reminiscent of some of the songs on The Visitors.....AMAZING!!!!
I can see your point, yet, interestingly, there are not any such male backing vocals on "The Visitors" at all. You might be thinking about "Two For The Price Of One" in which the male vocals are lead and the female vocals are backing. Other than that, "Lovelight" or even "Take A Chance On Me" might come closest.
...and the S.O.S. final !!!
If ABBA has not changed their tunes their critics have not changed their tunes either. The same things the critics are saying about ABBA's music today they were saying 40 years ago. The names of the critics will not be remembered next week even but I think 50 years from now people will still be listening to ABBA! The best music and most enduring music is hypnotic in nature. Hypnotic in a good and gentle way. It wakens up the good serotonin. I leave the more difficult music to those hellbent on wanting music to reflect their adolescent angst or overall anxiety and depression or artistic purity. The criticisms of ABBA today are no more original than the criticisms of the past. If critics want ABBA to up their game the critics need to as well.
Agree!
So true. I am amused to see how the public ignored the professional critics and has made ABBA an enduring success over the decades. It is almost as if they never left the stage. Mark you, I too thought some of the pieces on this Voyage album were overproduced but the more I have listened the more I love what I am hearing.
the critics gave mid scores to a mid album. if you still have this hollow conception of art, you completely missed the point.
Wonderful statement Ken! The music consists of harmonious sounds, the voices are soothing for ears and soul. It is partly church music or like caresses. No compulsion to imitate today's aggressive sound and disharmonious sounds with their aggressive yelling. ABBA is incomparable and completely independent art. The music of people's hearts. Listening to ABBA means having the courage to want to continue living.
My sentiments exactly 👍 Couldn’t have said it better.
Brilliant. Just Fantastic!
Me too but i cant
This song would fit so much on/in the "The Visitors" (and beyond) era, ca. 1981-1982. Absolutely brilliant.
The boys chorus and violin in the background sound amazing!!!
This will certainly be on the wall of classics someday
This one is, for me, VOYAGE s best new song. Its serious stuff and it means something that SOS chords do sound at the very end.
A masterpiece. I absolutely love this song. Benny and Bjorn are genius songwriters. As for Agnetha and Frida fabulous, gifted, angels singing. Combined voices pure gold. A match made in heaven. Love you Abba forever. Loved you from the euro vision preview 1974. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏
A masterpiece.... Only ABBA can create this!
This song is turning out to be my favorite of the album. I think it is right up there with "I Still Have Faith In You" and "Don't Shut Me Down".

We love this track. It have The visitors' vibe. Great tune.
Pop music at its best!❤
Fantastic! Benny still has the composing skill, Agnetha still has her charming voice!
Its like being put in a time machine. One women in the lead, while the other women perfectly completes it. And from time to time the boys show up and include their call and response singing. And the whole singing is accompanied by perfectly arranged synthie sounds. A mixture of all the recipes that made ABBA great, succesful and timeless. This is master class when it comes to pop music.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here we go again! Another Abba triumph! Toppen!
Why is it the oddest name of a song is always a Masterpiece ?
Mamma mia, you're right!
This is my favorite song on Voyage. Brilliant.

The synthesizer, the beat...it's true time warp is possible. Great song!
The boys' voices in the backing vocals don't change too much after all these years.
they mixed themselves so low. a bit louder would've been nice. barely can hear them. they sing during synth hook anyway.

Me too.
it is "comming on the "long run " they have so many . . . . . . songs
And they are all in the 70s . They are like matured wine get better with age
Nice to see they've still got the chops decades after they broke up.
The way the men (Bjorn and Benny) weave their chorus lines into the song is brilliant. It is more subtle now than 40 years ago, but the effect is awesome!
Das ist das SCHÖNSTE LIED auf der CD - toller Titel !!! Höre mir das Lied in der Endlosschleife an.
Me too! ❤️
Absolutely Amazing ABBA only Benny and Bjorn could write this song.... Love how it ends with SOS x
Heartache on the dancefloor. But this time not just because of a break-up, but the complication of joint custody of children. And if you listen, she's still not sure she's over him (and in the backing vocals he's not sure he's over her either). ABBA always did sugar-coated tragedy better than anyone!
I missed the SOS at the end til you mentioned it..clever
This song is BRILLIANT! ! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A NEW ALBUM FROM ABBA SINCE THEIR LAST THE VISITORS. Agnetha and Frida have the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. When I was young my sister and I would listen to their albums and try and guess which girl was singing which song. Both, voices were exquisite. This new album just brings back all those memories of my childhood. THANK YOU ABBA! LOVE IT!
omg me too. so often i wasn't sure either. it sometimes took to reading the album sleeve to find out. as an adult i now find it a bit odd how i couldn't tell the difference in most of their songs, but i must say that even on this album i was a bit confused again. oh another joy of abba. isnt't the world a lucky place to be in right now as the world rejoices in new abba music?
Why would you have to guess? They sound so different.
This is a Masterpiece. I love it every day more. Love the tension, the nerve, the pauses, the drama, the faint, the breath in every note that Agnetha puts to sings with absolute divine. So touching, so moving, disruptive atmosphefe with strong melody and meaningfull lyrics and the final chords of S.O.S. to conclude it's the best fade out ever. My favorite in the album for now. I need please the lyrics of the backing track sung by the boys in the chorus, I love how they answered as the "ex-husband" role.
maybe they repeat pieces of the lyrics that the girls song ,a bit like the backvocals on the end of the winner takes it all.
Yes,I'm desperate to have those backing lyrics.......
Here they are:

My fav from the album.
I only needed to hear the first two seconds of the song to know it would be a banger. It's so unique too that the lyrics is so serious but the song is so catchy, but you can still feel the darkness in it.
