Me and my dad (81yrs.) were sitting at the dining table and listened to Abba's new songs, yesterday... while we watched through the tall windows of the living-room into the green of our garden. We were near tears because of remembering my mom, who liked Abba so much and passed away 5 years ago. There was so much melancholie, consoling and joy at the same time by hearing ABBA's wonderful new songs. Mom, we would have danced through the living-room, if you were still alive.
Dear ABBA,.... I’m a 58 year old retired US Army Paratrooper, and I just listened to your song, ”I still have faith in you”. I’m crying like a small child, but I have a huge smile on my face, and warmth in my Heart. I have the feeling of happiness once again thanks to you. I was married to my beautiful wife Lisa for 34 WONDERFUL years....she was my everything. She played your music at our wedding, and on our anniversaries, and when I returned home from deployments away from her while I was in the military....she adored you, and your music! YOU made her so happy with your music. I took her to see the Broadway show “Mama Mia” in New York for our last wedding anniversary and she was so happy,... YOU ...made her happy, both on the inside and on the outside. Because of YOU, I have this vision, this mental picture of her in my mind from that night with her huge smile and big brown eyes bright and happy...thank you for that gift!! She passed away very suddenly not too long after taking her to see that show, and every time since then, when I would hear your songs on the radio, I can picture her smile, but your music has been fading from the radio as the years have gone by. But Tonight, hearing you sing once again!!...you have brought my Lisa back to me... I can see her clearly in my mind once again, ..your music has brought her back to life, and back to me In ways I just I can not explain....I just wish she could have been hear to witness this event, she would have gone crazy!! LOL...Thank you!! You have brought peace back to my soul again, and I can feel the love in my heart once more where it has been a cold and lonely place since she left to be my angel in heaven. Thank you, thank you, my dear dear friends, ABBA....and one more thing my old friends.... YES,..yes, ..... I DO hear the drums now, .........Fernando.😇
Reading your open letter got me grabbing some more kleenex, like many ABBA fans, watching their music video took me to roller coaster of emotions, back when i was a teen, the laidback carefree times, that was 40 yrs ago.ABBA's music gave us joy and hope for challenging period many of us are facing now.
Notice how many different languages there are in these comments? I’ve already seen people writing in German, Spanish, Russian, Swedish and Greek. That’s how beloved ABBA is all around the world. The didn’t have to write and record new songs to do a reunion, and they certainly didn’t have to make their comeback single sound like an instant classic. But they did it anyway. It wasn’t nostalgia that made me cry watching this video,; rather, it was the fact that they care so much about their legacy that they waited until they had a song this good. Thank you for the music.
I’m actually crying. I’m only 18 but grew up listening to all of ABBA’s songs, I absolutely loved them. My mum and I always sang & danced to their songs throughout my childhood, they are some of my most precious memories. I can’t wait to listen to this with my mum, we’ll both probably get really emotional. I remember saying on my 17th birthday while singing and dancing to Dancing Queen with my mum that I hoped ABBA would make a return and now it’s happening. I’m so happy, they’re still so magical after all this time. So grateful that my mum introduced me to them growing up so I never missed out on the true magic that is ABBA🥰♥️
I absolutely cried from watching the video The memories of Abba will be treasured and cherished forever So loved and adored all over the world Love u so much Abba my treasures ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I was driving along earlier today when this emotional song was broadcast on the radio....I could've sworn it was ABBA..deeper female voices, but familiar....it was! I thought to myself, "I know all the Abba songs, for what reason had I missed listening to this one all those years ago? Why hadn't I heard it even once over the years? Was this some obscure B-side extra that had been strangely uncovered?" When I heard that it had only just come out, the enormity of the reunion and collaboration dawned on me....one of the greatest pop groups of all time made a comeback after almost four decades, against all odds! All still alive and kicking...fantastic! 🇸🇪❤️
Yep its abba alright they havent changed abit and yes this song sends shivers down my spine can not wait for the new album abbamania is back and this time i get to experience every second of it bring it on see u in london
That is so true ... they were a certain kind of beautiful we've never seen since. When my friend told me yesterday they were "coming back", it was every single "One of Us is Crying" heard over 100 times - only, with joy (that has got to be one of the greatest tracks of all time 🥳) ... SO excited!
@@sandrahertzke8387 I am 33, my uncle used to carry me on when I was a young child. I used to hear the music playing in the background. Sadly my uncle passed away in 2019. I live in UK and couldn't attend the funeral in India. Last night, I came across the new music track and it took me back in time. I was touched by the song..
The tears just ran down my face. I can not find any words. This comeback means all the more at this time, when hardly any special songs have been released for years. The second time you hear it, you realize the potential of this beautiful song. I also see it through the eyes of my parents, who were then as old as I am now. ABBA thank you very much for this wonderful music. I am deeply moved.
I'm almost 16, and so I didn't grow up during the times that ABBA released their past albums, but my dad introduced me to their music when I was younger. We would listen to their songs during car trips and I would always enjoy dancing to them. My father unfortunately passed away when I was 9, but listening to ABBA brings back all the best memories that I have with my dad.💗 Their music has always made me smile and these new songs have truly brightened up my day!
I remember being 16 and going to woolworths to buy...ABBA the album..and now I'm almost sixty( I blinked and 40 years flew by ) abba',s music had accompanied my odyssey like an old friend I would like to pass that baton to you. ..enjoy the roller coaster 🎢 of live love and sadness for its these that make us human 🐎
Abba's career is a monument of popular culture. Their 'inconceivable' rebirth is its miraculous capstone. I feel honoured to have shared my time on Earth with these artists.
Let’s have a thought for all the ABBA fans who have passed away in forty years, we are fortunate to witness it, it’s like an extraordinary cosmic event. Thank you !

Alright, so here I am, a 54 year old guy who normally listens to prog, metal and rock. Along comes ABBA, my first love from when I was little, long lost but never forgotten, and it makes me happier than anything in a long, long, long while. Dear ABBA, you found the right moment to make the world seem a whole of a lot brighter. Thank you! :-)
This isn't just a new song from ABBA. It is an "ANTHEM" for their triumphant return. A reminder, for everyone, that the Legacy and Legend of ABBA lives on.
Can't believe that those are the voices of two ladies in their seventies; they sound just as good as they did 40+ years ago! And the song is lovely; was worried that their new songs wouldn't live up to the brilliant music they produced in the past but those worries were unfounded. REALLY happy they are having this reunion; I feel like I'm a teenager all over again!
I feel like ABBA is one of those bands that literally everyone in the world likes at least one of their songs whether they admit it or not. This is awesome can’t believe they are back.
@@mrkhoros Try their other new song "Don't shut me down" for more of an energetic dance track and higher melodies. However there is a load of magic and great songs from their 8 albums released 40 plus years ago. The third biggest selling group in history behind the beatles and elvis. Give it a go :p Does your mother know and hole in your soul live at wembley is a great place for energetic rock to start! Or dancing Queen and S.OS. if you like beautifully crafted pop. But there's many, many more.
Nikt inny już nigdy nie potrafi wrócić po czterdziestoletniej przerwie z nowym albumem i osiągnąć takiego sukcesu, jakby takiej nieobecności wcale nie było.
How a band can come back after a near 40 year break, and achieve this seamless gap is incredible! As a child, in 1982, when ABBA faded away I had to deal with it, like everyone did. But today, listening to these 2 songs, you have taken me back to 1982 (circa), and what could and should have been. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. The world has turned in that time, good and bad things have happened over the years, but today, these songs have made me cry everytime I listen to them. You were right to "still have faith", in yourselves and us. The joy you have brought me (and many others) is the same as when I rushed out to buy all those other "epic" albums. God bless the 4 of you!!!
I was in tears the whole way through this. I am a 44 year old man but this took me back to being that 5 year old boy sitting with his mother on the couch listening to all her ABBA vinyl's with her. ABBA was her band. She loved them like she loved her kids and she imparted that love of them into all of us. Phew 5 min 19 second emotional rollercoaster. Thank you ABBA. I love you guys!
We are lucky to witness these legends getting back together with all 4 members still with us. This song is a miracle

What can I say... I moved to Sweden because of ABBA, I lived there for ten years and learned Swedish. I am now a professional translator from Swedish to Spanish, so I owe them not only the happy times I have spent listening to their music, but also ten wonderful years in Sweden and now, back in Spain, my profession. Only Abba could release a Self-reflective and totally touching song like this. They don't conform to trends but write music as they genuinely feel. There has never been and never will be a pop group that comes anywhere near them. Absolutely class and quality. I Absolutely respect and thank them. ❤
I totally agree Anthony. Abba really are true masters of their art, there will never be a group like them again. As a teenager they were my heroes and as a woman now on the very wrong side of 50 ….. they write this song with its beautiful haunting melody and recapture my teenage heart all over again. Thank you Abba ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I showed this new song to my mother and she cried! She was a teenager while the ABBA phenomenon and has been a fan ever since and this release makes her (and me who inherited the ABBA mania) beyond happy. THANK YOU ABBA!
40 years later and a band of 4 people still have the power to make generations of people fall to their knees with just the words of a song it’s amazing how people all over the world and people of all different ages all still know how amazing this band truly is
This song is a perfect re-introduction of ABBA to the world. It sounds new and old all at once and epitomizes what has always made them brilliant. The moment I heard Frida hit that lower register it brought tears to my eyes! You can hear the life and experience in her voice and it adds another layer to their sound that just wouldn't have been possible in the 1970s or 1980s. I'm so excited to hear the rest of the album!
Don't Shut Me Down, their other new single, is also an amazing reintroduction. While this one is a sweeping ballad, Don't Shut Me Down is an energectic dance track full of high melodies. Love it!
@@karollorek6344 You probably do as well... fancy saying that to an ABBA fan. There are lovers in this world... and you aren't one of them! Happy misery to you and keep sucking away.
My dad died this year, he was a huge fan of Abba and he was waiting for this song with a smile on. Now it's been five months since he lost the battle against COVID-19, but I know he is singing this song in heaven.
This song is incredible for a group in their seventies. Now, you can hear the age in their voices, but it just makes it better! They do not need to try and sound the way did then to make a powerful song. Thank you ABBA.
Undeniable. Unmistakeable. Pure ABBA from beginning to end. I wasn't sure how I would feel hearing new stuff. What would 40 Years Later ABBA music sound like. I never dreamed they would stick so closely to the original sound. This really is as if the last 40 years never happened and the next ABBA album dropped as it would have 4 decades ago.
A brilliant song indeed. But listening to the vocal line "Do I have it in me" I feel a little bit reminded on Pinks' "Cover me in sunshine". But of course I'm very happy for having a new ABBA album being released soon... Never thought I would have this in my life again...
Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing, thanks for all the joy they’re bringing. Who can live without? I ask in all honesty, what would life be?. Without a song or a dance, what are we? So thank you for the music, for giving it to me.
An absolutely astonishing comeback. I don't think any artist has stayed away so long and returned so triumphantly. The music of ABBA is part of so many people's life who grew up in the 70s. These 2 new songs are as good as the best in their incredible catalogue. Album is pre-ordered tickets to experience the show in London are booked for next summer. Bravo ABBA the wait has been long, but the return has exceeded all possible expectations.
Well to be fair, B and B has continued to produce great music/songs after the ABBA break-up. So they have not been "out of it". Sure a lot of it was in swedish, but still great music!

I think that, after these 39 years, Benny, Björn, Agnetha and Frida have finally understood that they are an immense part of the history of music. I want to believe that, by accepting that responsibility and acting with their well known humility, they know deep down that they owe humanity one more gift. It is not a matter of money. I'm 56. Since 1974 I have experienced the release of all their singles and albums with great excitement, and I could never imagine ABBA releasing another after 'The Visitors', which marked the end of an era. Having listened to two new songs, it wouldn't be fair to have an opinion of the new album, though it already sounds wonderful. It may not be an ABBA reunion the way people wish, but the only idea of enjoying a new album is a blessing. I don't think there is a single week in my life that I have not listened to their music, which has proven to be timeless and beyond all trends. Thanks once again for the music, ABBA!
In 1979 i was rummaging through the music store and found ABBA: The Album. It was on sale. I paid the price with mowing money i had earned and when i took the albun home, pulled the record out of the sleeve and placed it on the phonograph, it was heaven on earth. For a Korean American kid living in Northern Wisconsin it was an eye opener about a better and bigger world out there. Over the decades i left that small town, went to college, got married to my darling wife and had a beautiful son. But as i get older, i remember fondly that time of my youth listening to this beautiful music. You made me cry again. Thanks, for the memories.
I used to listen to them back in Poland before I came to USA in 1982. Got I think it will be about 45 years since first time I've put their Waterloo album on my record player and I fell in love and I have been ever since. I can't hold my emotions listening to this new album. They will be in my heart forever.
I went to their very wet Sydney show with my dad in 1977, I was only 11. Today I cried as I listened to these new songs. I don't know why I cried, the emotion just welled up from inside. In this dark time there was something released, and the tears brought healing in a way that I cannot understand. Thank you!
I, like many Abba fans cried with joy and a feeling of eurphoria. Like everything is alright again. Don’t worry . We got Abba. Crazy eh, but that’s how it feels
David, I was at that concert too. Everyone was soaked to the bone but nobody was going home till they'd heard every song! Such a vivid and glorious memory! And today I wept as well. People we loved so much and thought we'd lost forever are back! And so are the fans. Yay!!!! What a great day!
I had tears in my eyes too. They created the soundtrack of my youth. Witnessing that what they are most present to now is the love for each others touched me deeply and even seems to put my own life in perspective. Incredible really
I love Abba
I was a kid in the 1970's and in the 1970's there was no way you weren't exposed to ABBA. I was always a rocker so I looked down my nose at ABBA. As I've grown older, and became a musician myself, I have developed an appreciation for what ABBA did. They were 4 talented musicians that created a unique sound. No one ever sounded like them before or since. Since so much of what is put out in the music industry is cookie cutter crap having a sound all your own is a huge accomplishment.
ABBA was an easy target for a mass of "serious rock critics" decades back. They were slagging them off and got rejected because"pap"music wasnt supposed to be serious stuff. But believe it or not it wasnt only the popmusic fans and closet rockers abba fans who disagreed.A lot of rock musicians acknowledged their geniuses and openly expressed their positive opinion about them back then. Such as Richie Blackmoore,Ian gillan,Bruce Springsteen, the guys from The Clash who also attended their 1979 Wembley gigs to name but a few.
I was the same as you then in the 70,s.i loved my soul music, funky stuff and disco. I kind of closed my mind to other types of music.the exception to my own rule was steely dan, doobie brothers and the eagles.i would see abba as been a pop band and I would not take much notice of them.how wrong was i.over the past 20 years I have gone back and listened to their music, and how beautiful and clever they are.i find myself actually crying at this track.wonderful......

"We want Abba!" That's when I was a kid and became a fan. My children were born and Abba was part of it. Now I am a grandfather several times over and my grandchildren sing along to Abba songs by heart. My grandchildren love Abba, just like my children. They are not only icons of music history, they are also part of the family. It is a dream that they make music again. We can only thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
I'm old enough to have become a fan during "their time" in the 70 ties. And now this song has me in tears. I'm crying all over the place because of the beauty of this song, and the fact that so many people (even many who are much younger than me ;o) ) have so much joy listening to this song and to Abba in general. It's lovely to think that many many people are listening at the same time and enjoying this song. And in times where hate speech is easy to be found it's lovely to read the many beautiful comments. In dire times like this (climate crisis etc) ABBA managed to strike the right note again. Do we have it in us? I hope so! Passion and courage is everything! Thank you SO MUCH!!!
ABBA, you have done something that no one has been able to accomplish in the past 2 years, you've managed to take people's minds off COVID 19 and put a huge smile on the worlds face again and it's so good to see the world smile again. Thank you.
I'm happy they sound like they made you think of something other than COVID but I'm sure you're speaking for a very limited amount of people there, this didn't even take my mind off what was for tea that night, in fact it sounds awful but I'm happy they have the ability to make others like yourself happy which is all that counts
They had an impossible task yet somehow they were able to find a way to provide that classic, timeless Abba sound we all love yet still be fresh, bringing new listeners in without alienating their old fans. This album is going to be incredible. I can't believe we're getting a whole damn album out of this! What a moment.
They are probably one of the best bands of all time, barring Queen! It's a hard choice. Because both wrote (well Abba still do) incredibly complex music. They'll never be replaced and like other great classical composers - in hundreds of years from now, people still be playing their music!

Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, and Taylor Swift don't need grandfather to tell them anything. They have made ground-breaking music which will affect generations.
My father was in a coma for years. He came out of his coma 5 weeks ago. His voice was gone, but he could move. My mother put the Abba CD on and this song was playing. Since then he has been listening to this CD and others by Abba on repeat. He is smiling again and he feels something like joy. He died three weeks later... but the 2 weeks with Abba and us gave him a lot of joy. He was happy. He lost 10 years of his life but died happy with his favorite music. Abba is more than just music.
Why? Firstly, aren't they rich enough? Secondly, massive album sales certainly don't indicate if the music is any good. Isn't that the main factor? We already know they are popular.

@@drieuxkoeppel8152 Drieux, I actually fully agree with you in the context of what you said regarding covid! Absolutely if Abba's comeback infuses hope and joy to people at this time, that really is great. It has been a terrible time for many I personally know too, and anything that makes people happier is of course welcome. In the context of that, the debate whether the music is 'great' or not becomes very irrelevant. A parallel possibly is popular music of WW2 where some of it wasn't always 'great' music but it gave pleasure to many people, and that in itself is admirable. God bless you all. My mum would've loved this too. Best wishes from England 🏴
Had a little cry reading that. ABBA transcends everything and just makes people happy.

What beautifull words. I have tears in my eyes, while i am reading this. My love for you

She listens from heaven ❤ hugs from a Swede!
I am 20, I have known of abba since a little child, and man, does this song rock my world, It's so good, and I'm so thankful for all their songs

@@mrkhoros Try their other new song "Don't shut me down" for more of an energetic dance track and higher melodies.

Real music😊Greetings from Poland❤
Very beautiful personal story you shared, thank you 🙏 World is a small but a more beautiful place with them! Cheers from Albania
I guess the songs that impacted you were Eagle and I Wonder (Departure)

I thought the same about Abba in my teens... changed my mind about this Swedish legend, but I’m still a rocker! 😺
I susbscribe entirely to what you say. They’ll retain forever their own unique place in the musical landscape.
@@christianoazzuro6711 Right on, so true! 👏🏻
In such difficult times for everyone, a little of Abba's light makes us all happy. Long live this beautiful music.

Don t worry I am old too. I use to run and buy every album at my record shop and still have them. And still listen 😍😍😍😍

They are probably one of the best bands of all time, barring Queen! It's a hard choice. Because both wrote (well Abba still do) incredibly complex music. They'll never be replaced and like other great classical composers - in hundreds of years from now, people still be playing their music!

I certainly don't want to judge in the context of what you said and wish you all the best.
