Bless you idk what some of these people are saying but the don't side is DEFINITELY a don't for hooded eyes. I'm grateful for youtubers like you who cater to hooded eyes😥🙏🙌
I'm so weirded out by the people saying that the don't side is better! They're obviously not people with actually hooded eyes who are looking to create space and levity instead of going full New Years Eve Party Drag Queen. Thank you for all your super beneficial tips!
The don’t side is pretty much how I do my makeup. I’ve always wanted to do a lighter, more natural look for daytime but didn’t know how. Thanks for the tutorial. It was very helpful. Can you please do a tutorial on how to do an easy cat eyeliner? Thank you!
Hi Emma, this was a very well made, professional video! I just think there are a few tips on here that are false or not explained well. To clarify some things for the viewers: 1. SHADOW: It does matter what colour your shimmer shade is. It doesn’t need to be a shimmer but the key is that it’s a lighter shade (2-3 shades lighter than your transition/crease shade) 2. SHADOW: The reason why you want to put the lighter shade on the inner part of your lid and the darker on the outer corner is to create the illusion of a more 3D lid (kinda like a half sphere) 3. LINER: the key is to draw a line thats so thin that it DOES NOT TOUCH YOUR FOLD. Don’t side is a good don’t example. Correct side still touches the fold.. that’s why it looks weird and curvy. Also I don’t recommend gel liner because it’s hard to get a super thin line. Try an eyeliner pen 4. LINER: the reason you want to draw your wing further out is because the fold is in the way for hooded eyes and you will draw over the fold. Not a cute look, so avoid drawing over the fold. 5. LASHES: You want to use lashes that are longer in the centre instead of on the outer corner. It would just make the eye look longer and smaller, not bigger. This is also why people think the dont side looks larger. I hope this helps people!
Finally! someone that has a face shape and eyes like mine; this tutorial was personalized and perfect for me. Thanks Emma Wo. DEFINITELY WILL SUSCRIBE !!
Yessss! I finally found a video of exactly how I should apply makeup for my eyes. I have large eyes but they are also hooded. When I would watch make up videos I would see how much eyeshadow the ladies would wear and If i applied just as much or same formation, I would look like a clown because of my hooded eyes. You couldnt see the other colors unless I closed my eyes. I'm using all your DOs techniques. Before my eyes looked like the DONTs and not flattery at all. Thank you so much!!! Also what's the eye glue you use for the eyeshadow? :D
I see what ppl are saying in the comments and I hear them but with someone with the same eye shape, the do side definitely suits are out of shape better. On camera they don’t decide may look better, but in real life it’s actually SO heavy especially if the dark shadow is not placed well!
I actually have makeup that does not rub off. It’s smudge proof and sweat proof. I’m watching because i don’t really know how to apply makeup. Thank you for the tips
I realise this is an old video, but I'll try anyway. What would you recommend for someone like me, whose eyebrows naturally point down quite a bit? If I try to change their shape, it looks horrible.
The dont side looks pretty and big but i guess if youre on a night out thats perfect, but more of softer look on the Do side more for everyday look. Thanks for the video! Thanks aslo for the eyebrow demo
I stopped wearing eyeliner because I felt it was making eyelashes look smaller, but maybe I need false lashes not sure how to do them tho 🙄, I need makeup artist to give me make over, but will try tricks you gave thank you
When you're so good, your own face won't cooperate with the "don't" techniques. LOL! This tutorial should be relabeled "Day vs Night" or "Natural vs Glam". Once she put the thick eyelashes on, it filled in the space. I like both looks! 😊👏
I really like your tips. I feel like maybe you could have did the step with the sticky primer on one eye the don't you could have done the same placement without the sticky primer to show how much more intense the do would be. I felt that by putting the shimmer all over the don't side it's not the same look. I really like the placement of the darker outside corner of the do side and the thick dark liner on the don't side really shows the lack of lid space like myself. Loved this video!
Great video, thanks so much, I never even knew what hooded eyes were or that I have it! Lol! I literally gave away my eyeliners cuz I saw no point using them when it felt almost like it covered my entire lid! Looked more like for Halloween! I’m so gonna try your tips in future, thanks!!
OK I gotta be honest. I Love the video and I agree with the "right eye" way to do it. However,.... Once you put the lower eye water crease eye liner on guess what happened? The wrong eye looked bigger! Lol Not above the eyeitself. The "right eye" looked more opened above your actual eyeball. But, Your actual eyeball on the "wrong side" looked bigger after that step. Now I am wondering, Hmmm....?? I will try a blend of both.
Can’t agree with you more Kt Vivacious. The opening technique of creating a dimesion above the actual creases is RIGHT. However, then comes a trciky part when it comes to fill the lids in with colours. Please watch videos of Smitha Deepak and Dominique Sachse on the same topics of how to get around hooded eyes in applying eye makeup. They both did excellent jobs, pretty much same techniques but one uses concealers to disguise the new lid created and Dominique uses darker colour of eye makeup approach. It will give you some better ideas to work with ; )
The makeup looks better on the do side but her eyes do not look any larger from one side or the other. It’s just more dramatic vs not. There are better tricks to make hooded eyes look larger.
I'm going with the don't side 😈 imho I think it looks better 💃 and I do have hooded eyes... I've also realized I have commented under my husband's sign in but I think he suits the don't side too 😂
Your DON'T side eye looks 4 times larger, brighter and sparklier than your DO side eye. The DO side eye looks like you are squinting it. Nope. DON'T SIDE ALL THE WAY!
Bless you idk what some of these people are saying but the don't side is DEFINITELY a don't for hooded eyes. I'm grateful for youtubers like you who cater to hooded eyes😥🙏🙌

Exactly!!!
Snaps!!!

Now i understand why my cat's eye with gel liner looks weird. I did some practice and i didn't like it. I use pencil liner.
This helps soooo much. Especially about the eyeliner.
Hi Emma. I'm curious to see how you would do hooded eyes, as in droopy top lid so common on mature (60+yrs) ASIAN women. Thanks!
I like how you detailed this video is. Thank you so much. I have super
Hooded eyelids
Finally! someone that has a face shape and eyes like mine; this tutorial was personalized and perfect for me. Thanks Emma Wo. DEFINITELY WILL SUSCRIBE !!
the don't side actually looks bigger than the do side.....
I agree!
I like the don't side
agreed
Kitty yes it looks horrible unbalanced.
Bigger but uglier

Your don't side looks actually beautiful and the eye seems bigger and more alive than the do side!😊
I agree
Enjoying your 💄 make-up tutorials
This rlly helped I actually do the dont side a lot no wonder it always comes out looking too intense
I see what ppl are saying in the comments and I hear them but with someone with the same eye shape, the do side definitely suits are out of shape better. On camera they don’t decide may look better, but in real life it’s actually SO heavy especially if the dark shadow is not placed well!

aww, you're so pretty

Thank you for the tips
Thank you for this video! ❤
Which brow brush do u recommend ?
I realise this is an old video, but I'll try anyway. What would you recommend for someone like me, whose eyebrows naturally point down quite a bit? If I try to change their shape, it looks horrible.
So funny that I do my eyes like the dont side not knowing what I was doing wrong.ty even though I'm so late in finding this.
Love the DO side, so chic! Now this is hooded eyes unlike other videos doing makeup for hooded eyes and they don't even have one..
The dont side looks pretty and big but i guess if youre on a night out thats perfect, but more of softer look on the Do side more for everyday look. Thanks for the video! Thanks aslo for the eyebrow demo
Why the dont side looks bigger? Isn’t it the goal? 😮
I stopped wearing eyeliner because I felt it was making eyelashes look smaller, but maybe I need false lashes not sure how to do them tho 🙄, I need makeup artist to give me make over, but will try tricks you gave thank you

This was helpful thank you and those are the lashes I use too that fit my lid

thank you.... could you do a video for mature mono hooded eyes please.
Thanks darling.💙🐦

Wow what a difference ! Good tips !!

You’re so pretty ♥️
I like the don’t side...🤷🏾♀️
i like the texture applicationiton of foundation :) was helpful
Love this, your make up is perfect! Just found your channel through your blog :) I subbed!
It was really helpful, omg thank you
Love this guide however maybe you should improve the focus of the camera as its kinda painful to watch your eyes when that part is so blur.
The shadow on the don’t side looks better
I don't like heavy lashes but I actually think that eye looks bigger
Omg thank you so much our eyes are very similar and this
ActuAlly worked becauSe it’s so easythank you
I'm going with the don't side 😈 imho I think it looks better 💃 and I do have hooded eyes... I've also realized I have commented under my husband's sign in but I think he suits the don't side too 😂
I have incredibly hooded eyes. With that said (for those who question me), the DON’T side makes her eye much bigger. The DO side…still itty bitty eye.
really really good video. Actually the don't side also looks great on you..... I guess all look good on you.
Eyeliner doesn't really look right on neither side..
Idk I liked both.
Where did you get your eyelid surgery?
I like the don't side better!
Interesting but kinda gave me a headache due to focusing issue
I'm praying for at least the don't side, cos that would be ace, it isn't that bad in comparison
Is it just me or is the don’t side bigger 🤔
The do side looks better but the don’t side eye looks bigger
Great tips but sadly most of the video was blurry 😔😔
hershayla I thought it was me! I kept cleaning my eyeglasses haha!
The first 2 shadows she puts on both her do side and her don't side you can't even see any color at all after wards THERES LITERALLY NOTHING THERE ???
OMG!!! I didn't know you had a channel !!!!
Don't side eyes are more bigger
Is eyelid surgery dangerous?
she is gorgeous!
You are so beautiful!
Your DON'T side eye looks 4 times larger, brighter and sparklier than your DO side eye.
The DO side eye looks like you are squinting it.
Nope. DON'T SIDE ALL THE WAY!
Blurry blurry blurry blurry. N she kept going lower lower. 😂 we couldn't even see her apply the cream color.
People with big eyes scare me
Dont side much better.
Funny but the "DON'T " eye looks BIGGER
sounds like CA accent.
Too many steps. Not realistic for daily prep
Hoping those false eyelashes are not from Animals . . .
Natural looks better
I watch, but I can't stand the music in this video. Its like listening to the TV and the radio at the same time.
hahaha they don't really look any different TBH
