Exactly!!! ...I hate when they give their life story...or play-by-play on why they're doing the video...why it took so long to make it... Blah blah blah. That fact alone made me keep watching her. I usually lose interest before they even get to the point. Or I skip past "back story" mess to get to the good stuff... if I do watch.

I have hooded eyes and have watched tons of videos on how to "properly" do your eye makeup. They were ALL wrong! THIS! This is the way I should've been doing it the WHOLE TIME! Thank you so much for being SO thorough in your explanation and so clear on what to do! I'm actually excited about doing my eye makeup again!

I like how close the camera is to your face. Too many tutorials are filmed from so far away that it's hard to tell what is actually going on.

I agree! However, IMO it could have been even better if at the very end, after these close shots she had then pulled back and shown us the difference in these two looks from say a normal speaking distance such as the distance most people use when speaking to someone face to face.

Thank you for this tutorial! I have always struggled with putting on eyeshadow because the color disappeared on my hooded eyelids. Now 30 plus years later, gravity has made my upper eyelids droop even more. I have started using eyeshadow to make my eyes more noticeable but I have still put on makeup exactly the way you showed us not to. I was so frustrated! I have subscribed to your channel and I look forward to trying out your makeup tips tomorrow!

This is the video I didn't know I was looking for. I always got that extra crease whenever I put on eyeshadow, so for years now I've always been very careful to only put eyeshadow on the eyelid, never around. Now I can actually start experimenting with colors and shape :D
Edit: I just tried it and woah, I didn't know I could look like this. I'm amazed

I enjoyed watching. Thank you. I am age 66 and liked seeing new ideas. I have to work with low cost products and have very “wrinkly, loose” eyelids, so things don’t glide on as easily as they do on your youthful skin. It’s a challenge! Thanks for doing this. I’ll try a few of your suggestions.

Thank you! I've been trying this with my eye makeup and felt I was ALMOST there but watching you I see the couple of little things I was doing wrong. And it was nice not to be overwhelmed with expensive product names you were using that most of us can't afford. Thanks again -- I think I may have the proper technique from watching you!!

Well, that was an education, and I am staggered how different the two applications are, though I have to wonder if anybody really is daft enough to draw such a hideously thick line with black as you did!! I don’t mind saying that even without any shadow, your eyes are exquisite 😊

  • @thaliapanacea964

I'm 49 and I'm having to relearn how to apply makeup pretty much all over again as my skin is different, my eye shape looks heavier with the lids more hooded than they used to be, and that powder foundation I fell in love with before the pandemic suddenly makes my undereye area look wrinkled even though (fortunately) I don't really actually have wrinkles--the skin however is thinner there and foundation and pressed powder under my eye creates the look of wrinkles. Amazing how a few years of not wearing much makeup and a few years of aging has totally changed. I CRINGED last week because after applying makeup the way I used to made me look terrible. So now, thanks to you, at least I know how to do my eye makeup now! Your method gave me some major lift and I thank you for this! I bought a super-thin eyeliner pen rather than a pencil and WOW, that thinner, precision liner made a huge difference. The pencil made a thick line and it also made my undereye area look wrinkled because the skin is thinner there. From now on, I'm lightly dabbing a tiny bit of moisturizer under my eyes and then dabbing a small amount of cover stick with a fingertip, no powder, and it has helped make the undereye area look smooth. If you have any tips for applying makeup for women 50-ish I'd love to get some of your thoughts on this. Thank you for the brilliant eye tutorial--looks like I've had an eye lift and minimized the slight sagging I've noticed. HUGS and many thanks! 😍

It makes me SO happy to hear this! You’re doing everything right from the things you described! As we get more mature, our skin loses moisture, which makes it lose it’s elasticity, try to avoid powders and instead use cream products, such as cream highlighter and cream bronzer!

what is the meaning of transition color

    • @MakeupAndArtFreak
      @MakeupAndArtFreak  7 років тому +19

A transition color is an eyeshadow shade that's pretty light in color and usually close to your natural skin tone, applied between the crease area and the browbone, to halp the shadows you're going to apply later, blend better and to create a soft transition between the colors and your skintone/browbone, with no harsh edges :) Hope that helps!

Thank you for such a eye opening video. As someone with heavily hooded and slight droopy eyes, this has indeed helped SO MUCH! I always wonder why following the usual common eye makeup color sequence and technuques we were taught cannot work, and why eyeliner always make my eyes smaller. Now I know I can skip eyeliner and reverse eyeshadow colors instead. THANK YOU !!!!

Thank you for showing us a practical example of how to do make up with hooded lids. The difference is clear and obvious. Unfortunately, the 'what not to do' part is precisely the kind of instructions that came with many eyeshadow packages, so we've been following them for years with unflattering results. Now we know that hooded eyes need to be done differently.
For those hesitant to use a dark eyeshadow on the brow bone, it may take a little while to get used to it (specially if you rarely wear makeup) but the results can be stunning.

thank you for the details, they really make since. My 65+ friends and I watched this video. We feel we need to see an actual person with a hooded eye transformed (looks to us like your eye is not hooded). Most of us seniors/ people are more visual, and maybe a person with a hooded eye would be a much more helpful demonstration so we can see the "real" result. Thanks for your tips.
