I am SHOOK! I have hooded eyes and I have been struggling so hard to do my eyeshadow since I was a teenager and this method was so easy and it looks so good!!!! Thank you for posting this technique!
After all the videos I have watched over the years and trying to get my makeup right for 30 years, I have actually learned something from you! Thanks for keeping it real, you have no idea how many of us appreciate it!
Shelbey - from the heart, I think most makeup tutorials on YT are garbage, but yours are the exception. Outstanding work. Maybe you are not curing cancer but you make the world a little better by saving us from garish eye makeup!
I'm so delighted that someone can share a VERY simple way to do a classic look - thank you so much for making it simple for those who have NO talent whatsoever to make our eyes look absolutely fantastic. Great Job! p.s. I tried your techniques and I am so impressed with my first try. Excellent video, I'd love to see more tips!
I'm new to your channel and so glad I found you. You explain everything in a simple way that encourages me to give these thing a go! I'm 47 years old and haven't used makeup especially eyeshadow for a long time. I have become a little nervous to try anything and I think you have given me the nudge I need to give it a try. I love that you explained the brushes and shadows really well right from the start. This is a quick and simple look for a beginner, I don't feel intimidated in trying to recreate this. Thank you!
50 years old and have been wearing makeup since age 14. I used this technique for the first time today and it changed how I will do my eye shadow makeup every day moving forward. This was so easy and the results so flattering and beautiful I actually felt like a dunce for doing my makeup the hard way for decades. I use Trinny London cream eye shadows which can be tricky depending on the shade chosen, but this technique made it super easy to apply and control. The color that is normally a struggle for me to apply went on like a dream for the first time. It is so beautiful and perfectly blurred and blended. Thanks Shelbey!
Very clear basic instructions thank you. I have a light skin and eyes /lashes so I thought (natural) smokey eyes are impossible for me without looking like someone with bruised eyes.
Finally!!! Someone who doesn't do a cut-crease for daytime looks. Who has time for that when I can barely get my mascara on and make it to work on time?!? Awesome video, would love more in a series perhaps? "Back to Basics" or whatever. :-)
Cut crease came is very old . It’s from the year 2000. It’s not new . I used to do makeup for a living and watched trends . And surprised it came back . So glad this young lady brought back a more beautiful look for everyone to use . Thank you 🙏
You have no idea how helpful this was for me! I usually just put a little eyeliner and mascara and skip my eyes to focus on my skin because having hooded eyes all the work I do on my eyes isn't seen anyways. I Love your technique!
Love your videos! for future videos can you go into detail about the brush strokes you use, how you are shaping it, I find you shape it really well but for me it still ends up quite muddy and I can tell you are using specific types of brush strokes and shaping but I’m not 100% sure what you do and calling it out directly would help!
This is exactly the kind of makeup tutorial I've been looking for - Simple and pretty, something you can do everyday and not feel too overdone. Thank you Shelbey! Definitely would love to see more.
I absolutely love the simplicity of this! I've been doing my makeup for 30 years, and eyeshadow looks are still difficult as I also have deeply hooded eyes. Popping in the shower now, then I'm going to try this! Thank you Shelbey! 😘
You did a great tutorial! Not everyone wants to look dramatic with a ton on makeup on. It was to the point. It explained how to keep it light and how to add a slightly more color if wanted. I really loved this video!
I have hooded eyes and always have trouble using eye shadow to mimic eye liner. Yours looks amazing and I cant wait to try. Can you please do more videos on this topic.
Thank you so much!!! I always felt awkward in eyeshadow and was convinced it just wasn't for me until this tutorial. Now it only takes super simple steps, doesn't require ten thousand palletes and the result looks fantastic every time.
I’m 49 years old and still get intimidated by eye shadow application. This video is the first tutorial that makes sense to me!!! And I also discovered that the heavy liquid eyeliner I used all these years actually made my eyes appear smaller. This is so much better and I look and feel younger!!!
Thank you for being a makeup artist who does pretty, everyday makeup for regular people who just want to look like a more polished version of themselves. All the elaborate, structured cut creases and halo eyes have kind of skewed our idea about makeup and led some of us to believe that we suck at it. Thank you for bringing us back to reality, and promoting looks that real people without loads of time and highly refined makeup skills can achieve on a daily basis.
Every time I find it hard to apply the eye shadow her words “don’t let the eye shadow intimidate you “ help me a lot! Thank you ❤️ I tried this look today, it turned out perfect ;)
This video is exactly why I have been following you for many years. You are one of the few you tubers who actually does beauty tutorials for day wear. Simple, elegant, and beautiful. At 39, I find that heavy eyeshadow actually ages me.

Oh, well done, and thank you, from another person without hours to do eyeshadow, in 30 different colors! That look is gorgeous, and doable. You explained, and demonstrated, so well.

Hey ! I’ve watched several of your tutorials based on the Laura Mercier caviar stick. I hadn’t worn makeup in years (like… 10 years!) and didn’t enjoy it anymore. And I felt like trying it again and discover those cream sticks. Your tutorials are awesome and had me trying the cocoa+metallic taupe smokey. It took a couple of tries before I was really happy with it and now I’m just addicted to this look. Yes, she does have pretty eyes! The color is amazing too. Sort of like the sea, aqua/blue.
Have come back to watch this a couple times. Love how simple & easy it is, and yet looks like you spent a lot of time. ☺️
Love it! Simple, classy, and non fuss. I’m out to find a tiny brush 😀
Thanks for this video! I'm not good with eye makeup and I learned a few things after watching your technique. I wasn't using the right brushes and I think I was using way too much product. I just starting watching your channel and I really like how you explain things and simplify. It's really helpful!
OMG best tutorial ever.. I don't have to use 50 products and brushes
I'm glad u approve of purple...my fav color. I. will try this technique. I have horrible makeup skills and have one hooded eye. Thanks!

Shelbey I really enjoy watching all your makeup videos. You are a really good teacher. You make it seem like anyone can do it. It’s not intimidating. I’ve always been intimidated by eyeshadow. Thank you for this video. ❤️
Thank you for showing an easier way to apply eyeshadow. I have the same coloring as you so that was a bonus.
That's really some amazing coverage.
Perfect, looks easy enough to do! Yet so beautiful!
This is so great! Few make up, 3 brushes, and your done! This is what we call simplicity is beauty. I need this especially when I'm in a rush. Thank you so much! 💖

I feel like UA-cam (and the market for makeup in general) has changed so much... but there’s something about your tutorials that make me feel creative and excited like when i first got into it... 10 years ago.
Lovely. You're young, but this video was just so professional and...necessary. I'm 62 and makeup savvy. I'm going to be using your technique!
I'm 68. Love this tutorial.
Shelby is the best teacher of makeup on UA-cam. She absolutely simplifies the process and talks in a manner that doesn't get on my nerves. Thanks girl keep it up!!!
i've always done my eyeshadow exactly like this!! great tutorial :)
Your eyes actually opened up a lot after applying eyeshadow. A very unique way of showing makeup.
Definitely a benefit of this technique!
Great video! Just saved it to my favorite list. You made it simple to do and so elegant looking!
I have this palette and especially love it for travel. Other than a foundation (if desired), one only needs mascara and a lipstick. Thank you for showing a classic, beautiful look with this palette.
I’ve watched this video over and over lol- love how it’s simple and beautiful ⭐️
