Hello anichodron 👋. Thanks for watching. Most of the smaller 4" can's trims have two, three or four spring tensioned strips that are a few inches longer then the trim itself. These strips are to hold the trim's up inside the can's walls. The biggest problem I've found is that the back side of the trim's ring could be stuck to the painted surface. 😵 Grasping the ring with both hands and carefully pull straight down. Hopefully it's not stuck to paint. If so a thin flexible putty knife would help in the removal process. Don't forget (don't touch the halogen bulb with your bare hand) the oils from your skin can cause shortened bulb light! Use a tissue or a glove. Hopefully that will help you, good luck 🤞
