    281k miles on our 2009 GL450. Oil changed every 5k miles. Sent an oil sample from the last oil change to the lab to check the health of the engine. Elevated levels of iron, possibly from the cams. Just gonna keep running it as long as it’ll go! I just want to hit 300k, then it doesn’t owe me any more than that.

    Great video again guys, loved to watch it and also great that you made an in depth technical video about a specific engine again - love this kind of content
    You guys somehow manage to always have a great vibe in your videos and I also really like that fact that your technicians are involved in the videos as well, keep on going and you'll become a very successful channel - I'm totally sure about that

    We had an s550 with head gasket problems that we fixed with engine sealer. I know it’s ghetto but it worked fine at 258k miles the driveshaft going to the front wheels wobbled and smacked a hole in the side of the transmission. Idk if it’s better than the 113.

      BMW has yet to make a V8 engine that is worth its weight. scored cylinders, timing chain problems, valve stem seals, oil leaks galore. They're awful.

    • @JohnStonerxD
      @JohnStonerxD Місяць тому

      I'd say the last good bmw v8 was in the e38/39 chassis with the M62/S62 engine... all the later ones are not reliable in my opinion, talk about connecting rods and other problems in the S65 M3 or the even newer ones you talked about with the N63 that have all sorts of problems
      I have to admit though BMW always delivers on their bread and butter motors, the inline sixes (not the diesel ones anymore unfortunately)
      I think overall every manufacturer has their own great designs and innovations but also horrible engineering choices on the other hand so it's basically hard to say that one brand overall is good or bad

    • @Wargasm54

      He explained why. I’ve had 3 cars with the M273 and currently have 1 (E550). Have never had a hint of a problem with the ones I’ve owned. There was a batch (pre 2006) that had bad teeth on the timing gear. They were pro rated under warranty. But the 273 in general is a solid V8 and they make great power (400hp) from a naturally aspirated engine. I’ve never had one go wonky on me. And always maintain a perfect idle.
