I am sure that not even the great Norman Harris, world expert on antique guitars, would notice the repair of this guitar. You are not only an artist in the repair of musical instruments, you are a magician. Congratulations from Mexico City.
This video is very satisfying to watch Doug. You have a very creative and clever way of coming up with solutions like your espresso machine, your PVC bending / steaming tube, and using veneer in layers. That guitar has a gorgeous coffee burst and you made it look like it just came from Gibson. Very nice job.
As a former session musician and these days a luthier myself, I have seen and repaired many horror story guitars over the years - rarely have I seen such a spot on resurrection of so badly maimed an instrument as this! What were they thinking? Needless to say, I subscribed immediately!
I am totally blown away with the way you found a solution to a seemingly impossible repair. You sir are a true artist!! You've got yourself a new subscriber. Looking forward to learning from a Master!!
Another beautiful repair. I'm glad the customer convinced you to do the repair. I love the ingenuity of guitarists and guitar repairmen to make something wonderful through the power of their skills and inspiration. Thanks
Sir, that repair was remarkable! It's amazing to me that somebody can even poses the skills you have to make a personalized guitar stock again! I hope to see more soon!
Doug, that is without question the most difficult repair job I've ever seen done. You 100% nailed it. I was totally amazed, especially with your homemade tools used in the process. You sir are an instant legend in my book. Thanks for sharing this.
Amazing work. I watch a lot of guitar repair videos here and I don't remember any as impressive as this one. I would have thought this 330 was a lost cause. Many thanks for sharing.
Bravo! My man! Bravo! I really enjoy your watching you work!!! I just watched your PRS headstock repair and this one , I hope you make more videos soon!!! G-d bless you with many more years, I really enjoy your work!!
Glad that UA-cam recommended this video. I've now also watch your PRS headstock rebuild as well, and your skills are incredible. Looking forward to the next video!
I was with ya up until painting the back solid black. I feel like with a piece of maple with similar enough grain would’ve filled and stained quite nicely. The woodworking on repairing the missing horn is incredible though. Excellent work
Great job! It's a miracle. You have golden hands. Thank you so much for the opportunity to learn from you.I will be glad to see many more similar videos.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Fascinating! I can't even believe how you were able to resurrect this guitar to its original glory. You are gifted my friend. I know vintage car collectors will spend exorbitant amounts of moneys for their projects but I always wonder what the cost would be on a project like this? Anyway keep up the great work.
Wow! Doug, that was remarkable. Please consider investing in a tripod/clamp or something to hold the camera now and again. That cut on the band saw had my heart racing!! 😂 Really nice work my good man. God bless you dearly!!
Incredible. Noticed the last video you posted before this one was like 6 years ago. Hope you begin posting more! Would love to see more of this. Subscribed.
Really nice job on this one Doug. Great to have another addition to the great repair men on UA-cam. Appreciate the detailed commentary and nice editing. My only request would be a camera that doesn’t flip the screen. It was a little befuddling at time jumping from what looked like a left handed to right handed. (Just a minor issue though). Look forward to more of these videos in the future
Beautiful job, man. Did someone think cutting the horn off would improve upper fret access? Who knows, yikes. Really like the balsa/Gluboost idea, too. PS Had I been wearing a hat it would have spun comically off my head when you showed the back; some people just shouldn't be allowed to own tools. Sweet job fixing that too!
Probably the best repair I have ever seen. Genius.
I don't know about genius. But I'll take it! LOL! Thanks :)
This is just an incredible resurrection of a hopelessly spoiled guitar! Second life for this Gibson! Great job! 👍👍👍
Thank you very much!
Thanks!

Would be great to see & hear this guitar in its re-composed form, if the owner was to post a video- I'd love to see that!
🤠
@@EvLoutonian Yes. I did ask him about it. I've had enough interest in the video that I could do a revisit. Plus I want to remix it anyway.
Your narration reminds me of Dick Proeneke, my favorite show as a kid 😂 Incredible work. Can’t imagine trying to blend an entire cutaway back in
I thought I sounded a bit like the Mandilorian at times LOL!

There are probably only a handfull of luthiers who would have even attempted this repair let alone achieving such a magnificent repair.
He begged me for a year. I finally gave in. It was a tremendous amount of head scratching but i'm glad I did it.
Amazing restoration. Thank you for sharing.

I was with ya up until painting the back solid black. I feel like with a piece of maple with similar enough grain would’ve filled and stained quite nicely.
The woodworking on repairing the missing horn is incredible though. Excellent work

Brilliant idea to use the coffee machine for steaming.
I stole the idea from someone else! LOL!
Beautiful job, man. Did someone think cutting the horn off would improve upper fret access? Who knows, yikes. Really like the balsa/Gluboost idea, too.
