I've always been a person who'd willingly die on the hill that halo deserved a proper animated show rather than live action, and I've always used Halo Legends as a prime example, as it really has so much potential and quality to it.
what's also cool is that despite the inaccuracies, most of the shorts here are still canon, especially Duel since it's referenced a lot in a Halo 2 Terminal video
There's a story about a Flood outbreak on the Spirit of Fire between Halo Wars 1 and 2. Serina, Jerome and others... I'd like to see that stroy told via animation.
I personally would love a story focused on a Brute that is a staunch believer in the Great Journey, that refuses to go onto the Banished dreadnought while their planets debris are going to fall onto one of the moons. I think it would be a cool story to tell since you could have a Banished commander that is adamant in saving this Brute, whether because they’re related or they just wish to save every brute.
Homecoming is easily my favorite short in Legends. The art style is also very old school like classic Gundam and Voltron type, which were my favorites growing up
I remember when I got Halo Legends for my birthday when I was a kid. This was in the time between Halo 3 and Reach releasing and I would make my family watch it with me all the time. I hope that 343 will have the common sense to do something like Halo Legends again but seeing as the Paramount series exists I highly doubt they would ever greenlight a Halo Legends 2
Legends is awesome. I know the reception of it at the time was pretty mixed, like I remember seeing a lot of old forum posts from the time saying shit like "Legends is stupid" or "Halo isn't anime", but I think we've long since hit the point where people can actually appreciate it for what it is, and would like to see a sequel. I'd love to see a Legends 2.
The Package, The Babysitter and Origins were always my favourite of the bunch, tho I loved The Duel for its art style too. The soundtrack for all the episodes was top notch too, with Sacred Icon II being the best among them
Prototype is by far my favorite, it's not even a story about Spartans but rather a normal human marine who at one point or another lost his humanity and only ever regained it near the end of his life. Not to mention that the Prototype Mechan Armor that was introduced was cool as hell. In all honesty it makes more sense for the UNSC to want to mass-produce those rather than mass-producing whatever the hell the Mantis (mech introduced in Halo 4) is supposed to be. Sure in universe I imagine it would cost a TON, however considering how awesome it was in the animation I have no doubt in my mind that it would be TOTALLY worth it. Even if they had to water it down for gameplay reasons I still think it would be cool. Imagine Master Chief piloting that thing, a normal human was destroying the Covenant, imagine what Chief could do with it.
I'd personally love to see a Halo game in the style of Star Trek Online. An MMO with multiple factions, varied races, different storylines for the factions that converge after a certain point (like when the Human Covenant War ends and then they'd be able to play the same mission expansions moving forward) super deep customization of uniforms, squadmates, equipment, crews, ships, fun combat both in space with full 3D movement and on the ground with your personal away team.
Legends has always been my favourite piece of Halo expanded universe. Guess it's time for another rewatch. Gods, I haven't watched this thing through in a years.
Something i love about the halo legends stuff is how well it portraits the UNSC soldiers in, the babysitter, prototype and homecoming. the fact we actually get normal soldiers in the marines is something i love. Johnson was hands down one of the best characters in all of halo and deserves every bit of love so to see more characters who like Johnsen were just boots on the ground was fantastic. The best parts of the series is, The Babysitters, prototype, homecoming and odd one out. something i use as head canon just because its funny is the Odd one out is actually a television series in the halo universe to advertise Spartans towards kids. just something that would explain why its so over the top and crazy while being pretty realistic seeing as if the UNSC didn't do crazy propaganda like make their super soldiers look like superheroes they would have failed at doing propaganda. after all as stated in lore and the novels, the spartans became the face of the UNSC's fight against the covenant so it makes sense they used all kinds of crazy propaganda to get people to support them and the spartan program. look back at world war 2 with the loonie toons in bugs bunny and other cartoons used to get people to by war bonds to support the war.
From what I got in the audio commentary, the kids are pretty much supposed to be from a lost supersoldier program that was in competition with Halsey's Spartan program. The Covies got to it and did their thing, leaving it listed as "lost with all hands". But yeah... the story was supposed to be non-canon from the onset of the creation process... Such a shame !
Odd One Out is my favorite because of how ridiculous it is compared to the rest of the stories and Halo as a whole. It has been theorized that the superhuman acrobatic kids are Spartans themselves. The idea of young Spartan 2s or 3s crash landing on a random planet and being raised by an A.I. is very unique and interesting in my opinion. It should be explored in Canon.
From what I got in the audio commentary, they're pretty much supposed to be from a lost supersoldier program that was in competition with Halsey's Spartan program. The Covies got to it and did their thing, leaving it listed as "lost with all hands".
The community think quite alike when it comes to wanting the lore to be expanded by different mediums. Hopefully the new leadership will listen but till then it's ALL up to the community to expand what they can. I myself got sick of waiting for new lore and decided to make an audio series helping to expand cities, worlds, ships and characters that have little to no backstory while also introducing new ones. It is called Spartan Stories but only because of the ones telling the story. I hope you'll check it out if you have the time. Always excited to see your videos! Prototype is best type.
I love Odd One Out, but I think the story is just too whacky to warrant anything above C. Though that doesn't change my opinion of 1337 as a character. He should absolutely be canon.
Love Halo Legends getting some much need love! I always liked the theory that Origins part 2 is so inaccurate because of Cortana's rampancy. She's misremembering events. Also the ruins in Babysitter aren't actually implied to be Forerunner but rather ancient human.
Ahhh, now that would make more sense! I saw some conflicting views on the ruins. Some said they could've been Endless or Precursor in origin. Though Ancient Human would make the most sense now that you mention it.
19:48 - and with that 1 line of dialogue, you've given me more information about "The Endless" than 343i have to me during the Infinite campaign. (if that is true, I legitimately didn't know that they survived the Halo rings firing and that's why the Forerunners were so afraid of them).
Lmao I'm glad you called out the social lobbies. Personally The Duel is my favorite because I love Covenant lore. To be honest I love every short in Legends. I'd love some lore focusing on The Banished, how Jega became to be Escharum's most trusted Elite friend would be a cool one. I know he is one of the Silent Shadow members from Headhunters, but what happens after is what I want to know.
Operation Trebutchet doesn't use game assets. as that would cause microsoft to DMCA. But they I do love the shoutout to it, and you are right, it is a mod based on one of the lesser and honestly era's from the halo universe that I kind of wish they explored.
I would like to see an 20-30min vid of the halo's 2 Quarantine zone on when the humans discover the library and them fighting the flood while tryin to recover the index/ sacred icon
While you’re making your way through the non-game Halo releases (Forward Unto Dawn, Nightfall, etc), will you be reviewing The Fall Of Reach and Evolutions (books, animations, or both)? Thanks
I really appreciate this review’s emphasis on how 343 industries has an opportunity to create new experiences for halo fans, I think there’s a huge opportunity for the studio and fans alike that I’m sure everyone agrees the studio is holding back. You’ve earned my subscription. Keep up the high quality content!
That's Because Origin Part 2 It's Actually A Retcon Form 343i Or Frank O'Conor To Be Precise. If You Ever Wonder Why MC Said In Halo 4 "I Though We Had A Truce With The Covenant" This Is Why.
Interesting fact is Yasuharu Takanashi who made the music in the Arbiter episode also made the whole soundtrack of Naruto, Fairy tail, Kengan Asura and Record of ragnarok while the rest of episodes was again Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori
On one hand I would like an animation series that expands the lore and universe of Halo. On the other hand, I knew that Microsoft knew that nostalgia is far less costly and more profitable compared to producing a new spinoff titles/animations/TV show and make banks by selling CE Mark V armor.
All the ones I liked the most are in S tier, except The Package. Still think that’s a hot take for it being in C. Fun fact, the Package armour was used as inspiration for Blue Team’s GEN3 armour, minus the Kelly heels and breast armour
Hey Laper, I highly recommend watching The Mona Lisa animated movie (It came out as episodes back on halo waypoint, I think). It probably has my favourite depiction of the flood in it.
With 343's new leadership, Infinite finally getting the brand back on its feet, and 343 basically confirming new projects are in the works, I really think its time to branch out again. Just take the risk an let some other studios make some spinoff's please. They don't need to be insane huge games, I just really wanna see some new and different stuff akin to ODST. Like maybe a Sword of Sanghelious game, so people who don't read the books or played Halo 5 can see this new faction. Or we already have RTS Halo, so my pipe dream is turn based halo games done in the vein of Xcom. Like commanding a squad of marines or ODST's against the covenant in a small close quarters setting would be amazing. Then Spartan's could make special appearances as essentially hero units. I would literally kill for that game. I just really hope in the next 10 years we see more games then just "Halo 7" cause holy shit ill cry.
I absolutely adore The babysitter, The prototype, and the duel. My bottom of the list would definitely be the package and Spartan 1337. Those 2 always irritated me but I've grown to respect them for what they are (especially for the memes). Great video as always man. Your editing, your humor, and clear passion for the Halo franchise are shown in every video 👍
There should be a copy of the animatrix and halo legends permanently nailed to the wall in the brand director's office. Microsoft's infinite money and all they can think of for modern halo EU material is books only hiddenxperia will read.
1337 is canon and no one can change my mind XD On a real note, this has the same energy as Tartakovsky's Clone Wars series; crafted from love and a unique viewpoint into the worlds of Halo and Star Wars respectively
Personally, my favorite was always The Duel and Prototype. Both storywise I've always liked. And while I can understand the gripe with Duel's art style, personally, that's what I really liked about it, aside from the story. Halo Legends overall though I always thought could have had more, and felt way too short for how many stories there could have been (just a few more stories would have been ok I think). But nevertheless even the worst ones are still decent, at least to me. I honestly never knew the reception was as mixed as it was though... Glad to see someone revisiting the DVD though (I don't hear it referenced often).
I need to see the brute rebellion with Thel Vadam as shipmaster hunting down Atriox before being reassigned to Reach, with Thel being the only Elite that Atriox fears can destroy his rebellion, since Thel is the youngest and by far the most successful shipmaster, bolstering tactical knowledge that rivals that of the prophets themselves. Showing that if Thel wasnt reassigned Atrox wouldve fallen. However, because he was replaced in his post for a lesser, since the prophets didnt take Atriox seriously, that lead to Atriox swiftly and ferociously defeating the covenant to the point they didnt stand a chance. Giving us a glimpse at what couldve been if Thel Vadam had stayed to fight him. Maybe they even have a 1v1 which could explain how he lost his arm, by the blade of our future arbiter, forcing Atriox to retreat for the first time. Only for Thel to be commanded back to high charity before he could finish his fight. I would also like to see the story of the Family excaping new mombasa during its attack that was told through ODSTs terminals. Seeing the covenant war from the side of a civillian is something we have never seen before. It can open up gateways for a suspensful thriller or horor, which can capitalize on showing the covenants lack of empathy through seeing their systematic genocides in the city as our civillian tries to excape. Even arming himself with a fallen rifle. A tale so full of danger that even a fight with a single grunt conveys how easily even they can kill a human, leaving our hero/heron battered and beaten. Ending the episode with our vivillian running to an exit, or evac pelican, only to witness his excape blow up in his face, stunned we see him get shot in the back bu a spiker, and this is where we get a frame for frame mirroring of maranda keys death. And the episode fades to black moments after we see their body slump to the floor. Leaving us on the note of brutality and hopelesness. showcasing how thorough the covenant was with eliminating survivors. Seeing the taming of the lekolos would be cool, but there isnt much can be said about that.
The Package should be at least B tier. It shows the courage and what a Spartan is capable of . I would however love to see an ODST story about Reach or Sargeant Johnson on Harvest.
Small nitpicky correction: the Yugioh anime that everyone knows was animated by Studio Gallop after Kazuki Takahashi pivoted the manga to feature card games more prominently. Toei did animate yugioh, but it was an adaptation of the original manga run - more colloquially known as season zero. Otherwise, great video man!
Prototype is def my favorite piece of Halo media period, even over the games, it's just so good mmm ODST after that, I'd love another ODST game...Just not in 343's current style of doing things. (Edit) I also unironically would put "Odd one out" as my 2nd favorite one it's just good.

I feel like the new head of 343 [can't remember his name atm] cares about Halo a lot and wants it to be the best it can be [Halo Infinite finally getting good updates & MCC] so maybe one day we will get something as good as Halo Legends or F.U.D one day, I would be surprised if the halo show S2 is good but I can only hope for that.

what's also cool is that despite the inaccuracies, most of the shorts here are still canon, especially Duel since it's referenced a lot in a Halo 2 Terminal video
All of the events are (except Odd One Out, though it's been recanonized, kinda, as a 2500s Era anime used in universe)
There's a story about a Flood outbreak on the Spirit of Fire between Halo Wars 1 and 2. Serina, Jerome and others... I'd like to see that stroy told via animation.
"AND ITS SPARTAN 092 FROM THE FAR CORNER WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!"
The art style is also very old school like classic Gundam and Voltron type, which were my favorites growing up
Already seen it and own it on DVD.
still on my shelf.
All the episodes are fantastic.
Sgt. Johnson as a Halo Legends 2 Story?
OORAH!
After watching this, you should go over the Halo Evolutions stories!
One to consider, for sure!
Doooo it.@@LaperLarden
The Package, The Babysitter and Origins were always my favourite of the bunch, tho I loved The Duel for its art style too. The soundtrack for all the episodes was top notch too, with Sacred Icon II being the best among them
4:27 "And if there WÆRE no *_fish-people,_* there'd be no need to guard the Chest."
- Mullroy, Dead Man's Chest (played by Angus Barnett).
Origins STILL gives me fan shivers. Seeing things we'd only heard whispers of, seeing the Halos fire...
So so good
Something i love about the halo legends stuff is how well it portraits the UNSC soldiers in, the babysitter, prototype and homecoming. the fact we actually get normal soldiers in the marines is something i love.
Such a shame !
absolutely GOATED buncha shorts, the music alone is some of the best in all of halo
odd one out is to this day, my favorite part of halo legends.
15:15 Yes, And it's glorius
14:50 - I was always under the impression that the ruins were ancient human (pre the first rings firing) and not Forerunner.

You gonna post them to your channel, I'd love to listen to them.
@@Kane3621 The channel is linked in the bio
1337 looking like he getting S tier
Laper Larden, puts him in C tier
Betrayed (*halo announcer*)
I love Odd One Out, but I think the story is just too whacky to warrant anything above C. Though that doesn't change my opinion of 1337 as a character. He should absolutely be canon.
I always thought that the babysitter eluded to ancient humans that were there before the firing of the rings 👐
I remember watching these on Halo Waypoint on 360 when they first came out. They were awesome, and hold up pretty well today.
8:36 the Easter egg they are actually making is the blood spray for Akira Kurosawa’s film Sanjuro
A Halo series that actually uses and reimagines the music from the games.
I would like to see an 20-30min vid of the halo's 2 Quarantine zone on when the humans discover the library and them fighting the flood while tryin to recover the index/ sacred icon
i forgot to mention this should be in the same style they did with Jenkins cam but with 2 last marine's who didn't respond to Sgt. Johnson commands
@@n155m0 Any chance to see those missions told from different perspectives is a W in my books. Could make for a great animation.
@@LaperLarden yes I agree but I think live action horror version would be killer
I want an oni story or getting to see Harvest for a sgt johnson story.
Cheers mate! Appreciate the comment and the sub!
Literally just animate the books and I’ll be happy, I really just want to see chief punch a banshee out of the sky.
Man i just want another halo legends, theres no reason why we havent gotten another one when Anime has become so mainstream at this point
Not me struggling to stifle an insurmountable army of chuckles at work
11:38 whenever i see This short, the 1st thing that come to my mind is the awesome Sonic cd intro.
And this is the beginning of modern halo lore
That's Because Origin Part 2 It's Actually A Retcon Form 343i Or Frank O'Conor To Be Precise. If You Ever Wonder Why MC Said In Halo 4 "I Though We Had A Truce With The Covenant" This Is Why.
I guess Frankie didn't like Halo 3, so he made his own.
@@LaperLarden Pretty Much Yea
Interesting fact is Yasuharu Takanashi who made the music in the Arbiter episode also made the whole soundtrack of Naruto, Fairy tail, Kengan Asura and Record of ragnarok while the rest of episodes was again Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori
This alone made me remember why i love halo so much
7:05 we will never stop the Sangheili social severs
Love Mona Lisa! Wish there was more content like it.
2011, Had this on disc, Played this and Halo Reach all the time.
Swords on snowbound is too accurate Lmfaoo
Fun fact obrian dies in halo 2 in the a day at the beach cutscene
I absolutely adore The babysitter, The prototype, and the duel. My bottom of the list would definitely be the package and Spartan 1337. Those 2 always irritated me but I've grown to respect them for what they are (especially for the memes). Great video as always man. Your editing, your humor, and clear passion for the Halo franchise are shown in every video 👍
A person of culture I see. Thanks for watching!
There should be a copy of the animatrix and halo legends permanently nailed to the wall in the brand director's office. Microsoft's infinite money and all they can think of for modern halo EU material is books only hiddenxperia will read.
1337 is canon and no one can change my mind XD
On a real note, this has the same energy as Tartakovsky's Clone Wars series; crafted from love and a unique viewpoint into the worlds of Halo and Star Wars respectively
The TV show should been the book harvest imo.. follow the source material of it and bam great halo tv show
I’ve never seen Halo legends, all I know is that the soundtrack absolutely SLAPS
Ohhhh, it does.
NGL I would love to see spartan 1337 return, probably comedic focus like One punch man.
Bro this is your best video. I love the style.
The Package should be at least B tier. It shows the courage and what a Spartan is capable of .
I would however love to see an ODST story about Reach or Sargeant Johnson on Harvest.
Love this series
Everyone hated this when it came out, i loved it and still enjoy it to this day. Fan servicey, and maybe a bit weird in terms of already established canon. At least it was paramount plus levels of change
This man thinks we’ll take the 1337 slander!
Jokes aside, this was a really enjoyable video! And I agree that a lot of these did feel like proof of concepts for a much grater project.
Can’t wait to see what else you’ll be cooking!
Honestly I never seen this movie after looking at it. I noticed something strange about it and looking at the reviews. And it's very fascinating like it's kind of like a what if situation. Maybe I don't know but it looks interesting. I still have no idea. If I'll watch It though. I mean, if you people really want me to watch It. Let me know if it's good like the other halo movies
I would love to see a M.A.S.H. style show featuring some marines or ODSTs or something. I think it'd be hilarious.
Not something you'd expect, but it sounds like a great idea.
i really do need to watch these. nice vid as always!
The funny thing here is that Halo Legends project was so amazing compared to Star Wars Vision
Nice way to start the morning
Just sayin', that Prophet's head would 'a been fuckin' *gone* when O'Brian took that shot.
I feel like the new head of 343 [can't remember his name atm] cares about Halo a lot and wants it to be the best it can be [Halo Infinite finally getting good updates & MCC] so maybe one day we will get something as good as Halo Legends or F.U.D one day, I would be surprised if the halo show S2 is good but I can only hope for that.
i'd love short humans and ex covenant races trying to give peace a chance post war. i really wanna see the races mingling after the war and the stories that could come from.
Damn some good ass editing, scripting on point and super digestable for new viewers. Do the halo music not get copyright claimed if you have it quiet enough or do they not mind as long as it's used in a halo video?
*I want a short story focusing on a Silent Shadow Elite and Blood Star Brute Stalker team hunting Spartans.*
This makes me want to see the perspective of The elites that hunted Noble Team as a show now.
W content as Always that was a great watch... Ok ima watch halo legends 🍿🍿🍿
Just keep in mind Origins 1 and 2 aren’t completely canon. And Odd Man Out is completely not canon but is great for laughs and giggles
Glad to see you back m8 :D
im working on a halo manga
Dracula flow will forever go hard for referencing halo
Such a niche reference too.
