    Nice video. Most likely none of what you want will ever happen, based on history. However, I would come out of retirement to be Audio Director on a remake like this.
    My first hire, besides all the original voice actors, would be Jay Weinland. Second - Neo Te Aika.
    Might want a few members of the community to be in advisory roles.

      Hi Marty! I have one question if it's OK. If a remake were to potentially add some of the cut content or extra lore that wasn't originally present... Do you have any cut tracks from the original OST that you would add back?

      True but literally everything he mentioned "not being" answered in Halo CE is found in the first 3 books that tell you the answers to all of them. The Covenant didn't know that Halo was a weapon just as the humans didn't, the Flood adapt over time to become more lethal and increase their chances for spreading across the galaxy, and Sargent Johnson escaped being infected because he had a rare neurological disease that prevented the infection form from tapping into his nervous system. It's all there.

      @@IBETHISNAMEISTAKEN That may have been part of it, but in the book "The Flood" Johnson explains to Master Chief that he escaped because he had a rare neurological disease that prevented his infection.

    6:46 I don't think Halo wipes the Flood. Cortana in CE is correct and it's the only interpretation as far as I know. Halo kills all the sentient life, thus starving The Flood. There's no way to kill the Flood.

      Bungie might have originally had that in mind, but it was settled to killing at least the higher organic flood forms before 343 even took over (granted that didn't affect the disembodied consciousness the graveminds tap into once they're assembled, and possibly not individual spores).
      The proof is the Halo 3 terminal covering the log of Offensive Bias' final naval battle against Mendicant Bias. It says all the ships piloted by biologicals on both sides go immediately adrift when the Halo effect strikes mid-battle.

      The flood forms eith nervous systems i believe are the ones that get got. Im unsure if it applies to the carrier forms and pure forms but the combat forms definately would be bodied quick because the infections forms could no longer control them via their (disintigrated post-firing) spinal cords. The infection forms themselves would "survive" it but eventually die off.

    I always find it funny people criticism CE's later missions, when open world games are so popular where you revisit the same places often...usually with less changes than the later levels have.

      Two Betrayal's while a nice mission in its visuals was absolutely nightmarish on legendary. that always gave me more trouble than The Library

      @@ORLY911 it’s nightmarish but doable imo that’s what makes it great. Definitely my favorite mission from the second half of the game. The only thing that could’ve made it better would be adding a group of marines to help rescue which would add 4 way faction fights. They really need to do this in the remake the 3 way faction fights were the epitome of fun in the og halo campaigns and having marines on your side would make it even better.

    You absolutely nailed and covered every point I have rumbling in my head and exposed it all in a beautifully coherent structure. The only thing I'd add to the art style pointers is to add a bit of that anime-esque flare that the original Shi kai wang and team were inspired by. Amazing video again, keep up the great work.

    Here's the thing. 343 doesn't need to remake Halo CE. It's a flawed masterpiece but it's not theirs to remake. They need to go back to where they started. With Halo 4. Scrap everything from there. It's clear 343 Industries doesn't even like their previous titles. So go back there and make an entirely different sequel to Halo 3 and go from there.

      much as i agree with this, that's absolutely never going to happen. 343 has spent too much time making their own stories and lore (and changing prior lore) for halo, they are not going to relegate their current universe to a separate timeline or something. we desparately needed a course correction years ago, but it's too late now i think.

      They only really need to scrap Halo 5. So long as it still exists, Halo’s cannot survive. You can’t do what they did to Cortana and expect people to just move on.

      The fans are so starved of a good Halo game again that many still stay on the 343i bandwagon even after a decade of their ruining Halo, that should be retconned. It's an unpopular opinion even now to be the one calling it out and not have high hopes but someone has to say it.

    I would love for them to add all the stuff they cut, fully realise ideas cut due to time constraints, the art style fully reflecting the og artstyle while keeping it in line with modern graphics, and all around expanding and improving whats there into its original vision

      No. Blur’s work looks good in something akin to Halo Wars where you expect major cinematic to look far different from the actual gameplay, but within a first person shooter real time in-engine cutscenes will always be more immersive and less jarring. One of the original concerns with old Bungie’s Halo was that players wouldn’t want to watch the cutscenes since they take control away from the controller. Stopping my gameplay experience only to load a few minutes of 1080p/4k pre-rendered footage in a video file is one of the most egregious examples of this act.

      Ehh, I prefer in engine graphics because you can do some goofy setups for cinematics. I also think blur also didn't follow certain cinematics properly, ex halo 2 new Mombasa ending cutscen has the In Amber Clad take a different flight path than in the OG and ODST

      @@halinaqi2194 does the flight path really matter that much? Is there anything that makes the OG flight path better? Maybe I'm missing something but that seems like a crazy nitpick.
      As for goofy stuff, I always find that funny and it's an advantage of realtime for sure, but imo if they're good enough then CGI cutscenes are just worth that tradeoff, and blur is pretty much the best.
      H2A and HW2 cutscenes are still the best halo visuals in any medium imo. I wouldn't trade that for some goofing around as fun as it is.

      If you're helping in building the game, you should 100% look into how a great Anniversary/reboot of CE is looking into a way of mixing Ruby's rebalanced CE with a few of the guns/vehicles mentioned in this video from Halo CE revolved and add the visuals from kashiera's Halo 3 combat evolved. .(keep the CE elites though and add the CE marines from halo 3 ultimate firefight sandtrap) ..Add Blur cutscenes like Baconmedia's silent cartographers cutscene, arena MP that plays like Halo 3 does, a CE firefight, and a reverse firefight mode where you play as the ai in third person mode with all the customization of which ai you want to play as etc.
      These extra points the video here has would tie it all up very nicely!

    I didn't notice this was a 39 min video, I honestly thought (dunno why) it was around 10 mins long. I watched the whole video without noticing, everything you mentioned I think is on point and time flew, felt like a 10 min video. Very entertaining, I just subbed.     All of your ideas are great, you bring up great points that can easily be improved upon for a remake! The major issue is 343 is involved, the company who could find a drown in a desert with no oasis.

    Adding in the arbiter’s perspective and using the source material in the halo novel ‘the flood’ and using references from the terminals is really all that needs to be added. Hell maybe even some levels of you playing as a marine.

      Honestly I think it would benefit from the "Heretic" from Halo 2, and the ODST from the books perspectives, as well as a "First Strike" Campaign. We never did get ODST flood levels or an "infection" mode in a campaign before, imagine if we got both and essentially had a firefight until death as a marine followed by an infected end run through every level as a marine that we either live through till we get to the chief and possibly kill him to get an impossibly hard alternate ending or just have a really stretched campaign.

      @@DeltaDanner I was specifically referring to the book, "The Flood".
      In it there is a sub story about what marine survivors were doing as Chief went through the ring, eventually, most Marines were defending an established position on the ring and the marine dies to flood infection, now consider if in addition to the chief's campaign we played as that marine, almost every CE level is linked so it would only mean a few more levels connecting the marine to the main campaign levels, having a slower/weaker character for a campaign firefight/infection who can the rejoin the story to kill the chief as an alternate story.

In “The Flood” Jenkins still had limited control of his mind despite the infection, in the sense that he knew what his body was doing but had no control over it. It would be terrifying and cool to see a character we grow to love slowly devolve and submit to the Flood while hunting down the hero. Honestly though, I think it would make for a good stand alone game and if we did have a whole new part of the CE campaign I think Zuka ‘Zamamee should be the secondary character.

      @@DeltaDanner I think it would be better added to CE as most of the levels are repurposed for later levels, meaning this would essentially be a 3rd repurpose plus 1 or 2 levels, but with a slower character.

    What needs to be done is Bringing back all the Cut Content and Story Elements that the OG Halo CE had to Unfortunately remove due to Time Constraints and Crunch, getting to use Weapons that never got to see the Light of Day, Exploring new Parts of Halo that we never got to Experience, Fighting Enemies or Wildlife that we never encounted, and Driving or Flying Vehicles that were Scrapped before would definitely be a Good Idea. We'd get to use a Different kind of Retro Sci-Fi SMG, fight a Huge Alien Creature or a Pak of Slugmen, or even drive a Snow Hog in the Fridged Snowy Chasms that leads to the Control Room.

    Something about movement:
    Movement types and styles are vital for different genres of games. I run a milsim group for Arma 3, and Arma 3 has more movement variations than any game on the market. Walk, job, sprint, combat pace, low crawl, high crawl, kneel-sprinting (keeping your head down while moving fast), etc. It isn't an end all be all. Walking allows you to shoot on the move accurately. Combat pace allows you to shoot and move quickly, and practically no accuracy. I train my members to "point fire" in close quarters battle with this method, since it's easier to guide rounds on target. The more you move, the more you get tired. The more you get tired, the less accurate you will be, the worse you will move in certain terrain, etc.
    In my humble opinion, sprint isn't bad. It's how you incorporate it. I will choose realism over anything. It gives you the most dynamic form of gameplay. Dynamic gameplay keeps people engaged. Task Force Trauma for life baby.

      Everyone who had any meaningful input in 4, 5, and Infinite has been fired or no longer has any power though. Pierre Hintze is the 343 studio head now and he saved MCC. If he had been in charge of Infinite since the start of its development it would be in such a better place now. I say give him a chance with a new Halp game.

    I think the warthog run should take place outside because there's realistically no room inside. Imagine driving a warthog off the pillar of autumn and barely making it onto a desert cliff? The longsword in this scenario could have fallen out as debris. This could also be a way to expand and explore the desert biome of Halo.

    Finally someone who gets it! I've watched several Halo UA-camrs' takes on how the remake should handle the storyline, and most of them want to add all sorts of nonsense that has no place in the main story of Halo CE. I've even seen someone seriously suggest adding The Arbiter to the remake, thinking it would be a good idea. The original story did something very important, it introduced us to the characters we fell in love with: Master Chief and Cortana, the ring world Halo and the vast and enigmatic universe surrounding it. This should still be the story's main purpose in the remake IMO. You are 100% correct, in order for the remake to work, it has to be "unapologetically" Halo!

      Yeah I think a lot of they UA-camrs are being rabidly selfish in that, they don’t want it to be the same game again because they’ve played CE hundreds of times, have grown bored of it, and now want all these bizarre changes that would essentially make it a de facto reboot, which they CLAIM they don’t want. They also desperately need more lore content for their channels.
      The problem is, the exact same game again is exactly what this remake needs to be. They don’t realize that it’s not about us, it’s new people experiencing Halo CE the way it was intended to be experienced so they can see why we love it so much. I thought that’s what every fan wanted, but I guess I was wrong. They’re ravenous. They just want MORE CONTENT.
      ANY CHANGES to art style, dialogue and blocking should be treated with utter hostility. Optional bonus levels? Sure. Put any new dialogue you want. But leave the original levels alone

    Bro imagine a side story where you play Johnson and try to escape the ring. You're not a spartan 2 and you're in even more of a dire situation because you don't even have cortana to help you. One badass against the flood and the rest of the covenant the chief didn't finish off himself.

    Imo I think it'd be a decent idea being able to give commands to marines like to have them follow you through out the entire mission. I remember just playing CE and was like why don't the Marines follow you they just stop after few parts in certain missions

    The flood shaping the environment should be very subtle, just a green fog and some biomass blobs, nothing like Cortana in Halo 3 or High Charity in Halo 2

    - Fully lean into UE5 tech for the visual upgrade, rather than 'upgraded' hyper complex art design.
    - introduce basic stealth
    - follow the basic story with additions and revamped but still open level design.

      Stealth mechanics in Halo would be the best mew feature since dual welding, full stop. It's been a proposed idea practically forever, or at least since the (not so) silenced weapons in ODST... and originally H2.

      @@BalkanGames I mean, kinda? But not really. It's a testament to the NPC intelligence at the time that it's even passable at all for stealth, but it's not really designed for it.
      I don't want highlighted awareness meters or anything like that, but a bit more defined line of sight and sight distance (in the dark especially) would be nice. Maybe even a silenced weapon with limited ammo or a range at which enemies won't know exactly where you are, etc.
      I feel like Truth and Reconciliation was trying to do something cool with stealth but the game wasn't built for it.

      @@existentialselkath1264 Yeah, I see what you mean. However, I doubt it would be possible to create a more sophisticated stealth system that makes sense in CE's setting. After all, why would the Pillar of Autumn carry suppressed small arms? And why would a Spartan need to hide in the shadows? I think the original's rudimentary stealth system and effective but scarce active-camo power-ups are enough. What you're asking for sounds like a remake of Halo 3: ODST.

      I know why you're thinking odst, but I don't think it has to be that out of place for CE. Even just more advanced enemy awareness would be a good fit. The OG game already had it, it just needs some polish.

I agree completely especially with the uprising interpretation, the religious connotation in that piece stem from quite simple but well written counterpoint. The recreation didn’t let that be heard.

    i think halo infinites advanced movement behavior actualy fits with classic halo. sprint is 110% movement speed, which works on classic maps (as mlg using 110% speed back in the day proves). the balancing of halo infinites sprint also makes it a focused map traversal tool for the necessary vehicle, mancanon, conveyor and teleporter less segments. clamber is interesting, but should not outclass crouch jump. instead it should stack with it. slide actualy works well with classic halos physics, to create or spend momentum.
    the player base speed and acceleration should be classic halo values though.
    the speed increase of 10% may seem small, but +- 2 seconds across a map makes the difference of one average gunfight length. that is consequential for the game.

    The original Halo Combat Evolved is by far my favorite game of the series. I love the way they balanced the weapons/gameplay/maps in this game. It's unique. It's so well thought out for all out fun. Yet if you want to play skilled modes you can too. You can couch co-op party play. Co-op the campaign. I love how the game is crafted to bring out certain types of play style with-in people. It leaves room for goofing around, while equally allowing for a test of your knowledge and skills of the game to see who can utilize things the best. The maps are so unique compared to other multiplayer games. They aren't just copying COD 3 lane map layouts. The campaign is great, the flood, the gathering of ammo, health packs, shields, cloak. The way they built it so you start out with base weapons and you each have to go around the map to aquire weapons and more during gameplay, really creates a awesome structure to how the game is needed to be played. +It's my opinion that The A.I. is by far the BEST A.I. It's so interesting to go up against the enemies in this game. The enemies have such diverse dynamic behavior and reaction responsiveness. Not just enemies, your own soldier's that team up with you to drive vehicle's in the story mode, really adds depth to the campaign mode. The level of customization of game modes is like nothing we have today. You could Customize your own personal character. You could make your own game modes. You could make Serious game modes or dorking around game modes or just all out crazy Overpowered madness game modes. I absolutely LOVE THIS GAME and I still own and play the OG version on a old school original Xbox as well as a Xbox 360. (I haven't gotten a Xbox system after the 360. That era was the peak in my opinion)
    What I don't get is that "The Original Halo Combat Evolved, on OG Xbox" has some of the best A.i. -As well as Left 4 Dead 2. I love the way they balanced the weapons/gameplay/maps.       i think the reason bungie removed the wildlife, was to make the impact of the flood reveal way more shocking. they basically bait you into thinking only the covenant and humans are on the ring. then you play 343 guilty spark and are shocked there's something else there.

    35:36 Just food for thought, but I'm pretty sure Bungie did intend to add sprint into Halo 1 and 2. There were videos showing a boat vehicle they wanted to add if they had time, and they showed a Spartan sprinting.

    I think sprint in just the campaign (and only the campaign) would actually be kind of ok. Especially in the really massive areas like the second level and Assault on the Control Room. Maybe tie it to lowering your weapon (D Pad Down?) or something, where lowering your weapon enables sprint but then stops upon performing anything that raises your weapon. That way multiplayer still remains sprint free and that core movement can remain the same.

    At this point i feel like i should just make a halo 1 spiritual successor myself. No youtubers ever talk about the marble reflective armors and ravaged skeletal looking flood, they just want to make halo 1 into halo 3. Bleh.

    I think the best way to do it is definitely to focus on making an engine that both feels modern (because, yeah, despite the charm it adds, you can defintiely tell CE's engine is a bit old) but also stll feels very Halo CE and, once that difficult task is achieved, simply keep the core original experience and expand on it.
    Keep the art style the same as the original intent, simply increase visual fidelity and polygon count (Kind of like Marcus Lehto's remakes of some of his models). Keep the sandbox the same but add thigns like the energy sword and fuel rod cannon. Keep the flood but expand on them mechanically and increase their horror aspect, sort of like the later games. Keep the vehicles the same but add the ability to pilot the Wraith and boost witht he ghost. And so on and so forth.
    I think that is the safest bet. If they do want to make further additions then it might be cool to finally see wildlife on halo. Or to add things that were originally planned but only implemented later like ODSTs and Engineers. But DON'T dilute CE by adding too much bs. Also no changes for the sake of changes, to appeal to the masses, or to increase profit.

      Something like dead space remake is generally a good example of what I am talking about.
      Which reminds me, I forgot to mention the story. The story could definitely use a bit of getting updated, but they shouldn't make it swing too far into the modern day 343i story direction. I am also acutally not a fan of stuffing the game full of all the additional content that has been made about CE since the game released. Nods are fine, but that should be all they are, nods acknowledging those that took the time to delve into the additonal material.

    I like the idea of adding sprint as an "easy mode" option, in other words possibly locked until you beat the campaign once, reducing any "points" system instigated, and possibly replacing overshield/cloak but being a new item found most places in the game but rare on flood levels.
    In other words, sure you can use it for speedruns and a faster completion, but it'll cost ya to activate and be limited not by time but by other options, of course unlike the overshield/cloak we need to actively "pickup" the item with a warning "replace" if holding the others.

    Pretty much agree with every point here, but there's some points I want to make, or points you made that I want to address.
    1. I think keeping all of the weapons balanced the same as the original game is fine, even the Magnum. Sure it can be a 3-shot kill, but actually getting that 3-shot kill takes skill, due to CE's projectile speed, and the Magnum not always being pinpoint accurate. With that said, adding new weapons to the sandbox could be pretty cool, so long as they relate to CE in some way. I don't want to see the Brute Shot in a CE remake, for example. The 4 big ones that should be usable in campaign and MP are the Fuel Rod, Energy Sword, Sentinel Beam, and Flamethrower. Maybe they could also add in some completely cut weapons, as well as a usable Jackal Shield and Hunter Cannon.
    2. I think equipment could be fine, but only if it's more akin to H3's style of neutral equipment. I agree though that nothing like the grappleshot should be in a CE remake. That would completely break how the game is played.
    3. Since Fireteam Raven established that pure forms existed during the events of CE, I think they should add them in to some of the later missions to spice up the Flood some. Maybe even add in that cut H2 Flood form as a boss fight or something.

      Grapple hook completely killed the sandbox of hale infinite and it would humiliate CEs.
      I am not a hater of the grapple, but playing through infinite several times I realised that I do not appreciate the details in the environment and that it doesn't make me want to discover it. The grapple hook killed my curiosity of "what might be behind X or on top of Y".

      I think you could tweak how the grapple works, rather than outright removing it. No upgrading it to do silly shock damage or ground pound, but it's not game-breaking in and of itself. Especially if maybe the range was turned down and the cooldown longer.
      Campaign probably should have BR and/or DMR, too, even though the magnum functions similarly.

The Magnum fulfills the utility weapon role already, and it doesn't really offer any new or interesting gameplay. There's so many other weapons you could add instead that provide more unique gameplay.

    They also have to realise that they need to do this right, they absolutely have to or they’ll get torn apart. If they don’t do this right, it’ll be a massive failure. It’s naturally going to sell well, but they need to please the fans and that should be their goal.
    This is guaranteed to sell no matter what, so “good sales” should not be their goal. They should aim to make this as good as it possibly can be. They are in a unique position in this. For a developer/publisher to know good sales figures are guaranteed before they even start, is a huge advantage and it should give them impetus to relax and make it good. I really hope they realise this in the correct way and not just think “just get it out, we’ll make bank anyway”.

    Honestly, if they dumbed down the magnum to the Halo 2 standard and then added a BR or DMR to fill the void of the CE pistol, I'd be totally fine with that.

    A pipe dream wishlist of mine for CE 2.0:
    - A simple firefight mode goes a long way. ODST's Firefight helped sustain me surprisingly well in lieu of proper PvP multiplayer until Reach came out. MCC mods show that it'd work well with CE's existing sandbox and maps.
    - Updated aim assist and hit boxes
    - Vehicle hijacking
    - Improved grenade jumping
    - Campaign weapon customizations, akin to how MCC handles it. Toggle on or off.
    - Campaign scoring with MCC skulls + new FUN ones (i.e. a Splat skull that recreates CE's one-touch vehicle splatter mechanic, Flare skull to make everything overlit like Anniversary)
    - Secret levels as reward for terminals? Usually the reward is nothing, but if we could unlock side story levels akin to Silent Cartographer Evolved's Arbiter level...
    - For consistency, have Guilty Spark use SOME of his H3 boss powers during Library. Using his pulse field to push away jumping combat forms and his blue laser to clear biomass clogging doors would be a nice touch.
    - Coming up with a more satisfactory explanation of why the Library and Control room are so underprotected. Why did the Forerunners build massive vents that connected to the flood containment area and the Library? Why are no sentinels guarding the control room in AotCR? Why did Chief have to hoof it so far in the Library without a sentinel escort? I understand the gameplay reasons, but patching it up with dialogue wouldn't hurt.
    - Reworking latter half. Aside from the cutscene story beats, in retrospect Two Betrayals and Keyes are filler-y in their overall function. Blowing up the 3 pulse generators ended up being unnecessary since we have the required activation index + we just blow the entire ring up anyway. Finding Keyes was important, as it prevents the Flood from fully accessing his memory + we get the transponder code to selfdestruct PoA....except once again, we just shoot rockets into the core instead and make everything go boom boom. Plus Gravemind knows of earth anyway because of all the other humans he infected. Plus if Cortana just teleported us a few meters in the right direction, there would be no backtracking to stack with the backtracking (start in previously visited location, right outside of Keyes' room, jump into coolant, go back up ship, fight all the way up to control room, punch Keyes, fight all the way back down to hangar.)
    - Could use another open zone level in the latter half of the game. Alpha base defense?Or Two Betrayals 2.0, making the 3 pulse generators non linear objectives in a completely different map + banshee to them in any order?
    - Slug men repurposed as mini hunters? A lekgolo quartet?

    I absolutely agree, id like to see a halo go back to an M rating, they definitely missed out on that with the banished in halo infinite which in my opinion was the golde moment to have it be an M rating. Absolutely no modernized game mechanics, and ABSOLUTELY no ridiculous skins/armor themes. Ive recently been playing a lot of world at war call of duty and its showed me how watered down halo and call of duty has gotten. Much more darker and gritty feels for the remake should definitely be applied, aswell as the lighting issue you pointed out. Ill be honest though, the biggest heresy they could commit would be the recasting of voices. If they do that route i have a feeling many fans wont even bother trying it the game, i know i wouldnt. Overall I completely agree, my own tidbit id like to add in is id like to see female and male spartans have updated models so they actually look different, and when you had said "if they have to have skins left and right" maybe do what mcc did and enable an option so you can choose to see the skins if you want.       I get sprint is controversial, but swapping weapons with marines? Hijacking vehicles? Those mechanics weren't there originally, but it would feel pretty rudimentary to go back to a game without them.

    Although I still prefer the original halo CE overall, Spv3 did an amazing job with the atmosphere of the flood in the later levels especially the maw with the the nothing but the flashlight and the gunfire illuminating the hallways

      SPV3 is a mixed bag at best. It has a lot of cool ideas, but it drags on for too long. The sandbox is also comparable to trail mix where there’s a lot of good and a lot of bad mixed together. It’s the textbook definition of feature creep killing a game.

      @@shreksnow1918 honestly I didn't care about the more variety in weapons, that was fun. The problem was that they shoehorned in those with forced roles, and made the weapons basically useless in encounters they aren't designed for. I remember getting stuck somewhere for like 30 minutes having to juke around enemies after I ran out of ammo for weapons that were able to kill elites. Besides that, SPV3 was good. I more so just don't like the people behind SPV3 rather than SPV3 itself.

    One thing the people doing modern models of CE's style, even lehto, don't translate over is the reflective shiny metallic texture on everything, someone needs to convince 343 that the Y2K aesthetic is huge and should be 100% the visual point of reference they need to use as their guiding light when designing this reboot.

      @@javanmills6152 CE Master Chief isn't dull and blocky is actually quite shiny and reflective. Compared to the rest of the UNSC presence it really makes him feel significantly more advanced. Like he's almost on a similar level to covenant technology.

    My take is we just need every game that released after Halo Reach to be marked as noncanon with all of them being hunted to be a dream chief had in cryo sleep. Then they bring back a lot of the original devs and new devs who love Halo and make a proper sequel series and spin-offs.

    I think what makes CE stand apart is the much heavier influence Marathon had on it; Marathon walked so Halo could run (not sprint lmao). The moody atmosphere, the more sci-fi and less militaristic feel, the prominent sense of isolation, the dulled colors with splashes of saturation in the forms of projectiles, blood, etc... that's all Marathon.
    If the remake wants to stand apart, I really think they should focus on that, especially since current Bungie isn't going to faithfully represent Marathon anyway, loooool

    Imagine a non linear version of The Pillar of Autumn, where huge parts of the ship opened up and allowed you to find your own way to escape pods. There could be tons of player expression in how you play the mission

      To add to this, imagine if there was more context about Reach given in the beginning of the game. In 2001 it was supposed to be kind of a mystery, but at the point we're at with all the established lore I think it would add a ton of immersion and situational awareness to the player.

      @devonlambert9131 Oh definitely. Why only use the space for gameplay reasons! Chief decides to cut through the medical bay because of whatever reason. You can stay around long enough to hear crew or wounded soldiers still trying to process their home planet is gone. It would be so natural and if done correctly, heart crushing.
      Completely flesh out the tone of the unsc in the first mission. Get some extra lore in there.
      Plenty of space for player expression.
      Am overhaul to the ship alone would be amazing.

    when i was a kid playing halo CE looked at the ring and dreaming about what else could be in other areas of the ring and if we would be able to fully explore the ring all-around and end back up where you started :3 wish they added that ability

    IMO New Halo CE should be very similar to the original, with these changes only:
    Campaign levels receive updated layouts (heavy pulling from CE, but amping up their unique qualities)
    Greater variety of locations in 2nd half of campaign.
    Enhanced graphics loyal to the original CE artstyle.
    A little bit of new music or enhanced returning music. (But overall 95% same as original CE)
    Have a scarab fight! (on either Assault on the Control Room, or Two Betrayals)
    Include Brutes, Drones, and Engineers (but keep them rare. only a few encounters in the whole game)
    Add one new Flood form.
    Add one new Covenant alien / enemy-type.
    Add a new weapon or two.
    Expand the story with references and details of the early Halo books.

    I think what you seem to forget, the whole purpose of CE's story was to be mysterious. The marine that fake being dead was supposed to be "the player" as master chief to investigate the flood situation.

    I wished 343 would get as much Halo/Bungie devs involved especially those who would want to revisit it. Halo really does deserve people involved in the remake that are obsess with Halo like fr. People that have spent countless hours playing, learning, and making incredible mods over the years keeping Halo alive.
    The gaming community, not just PlayStation or hopefully Nintendo too🤞, should get to see what Halo is when it has it best people involved.

      @@LaperLarden Makes sense why they couldnt get the theme right and split the strings. Marty explains that string issue well in his interview with Noodle, but I forget where I heard him mention (if my memory is correct) that Paul never even was allowed to ask for even the sheet music.

    Didn't watch he whole video yet, but I do not have any hopes that 343 will succeed on this mission.
    To this day, they didn't understand what made halo what it was in the bungie era.
    There is a lot of space to improve on halo ce. It has so much potential. Make it an action shooter transforming into a real horror game. Add missions that were originally cut. Remove stupid dialog and insert better. Keep the story in it's core as it is but improve the world building. Close the plot holes and change the decisions which were only made because of time issues.
    Sooooooo much to improve. But as said already... No faith in 343

      @SilverViper1000 are you saying 343 doesn't understand PVP multiplayer or campaign? And if campaign, are you talking about story? I feel like Infinite had a good story, but it was really unlucky they couldn't finish the story in base game. They were counting on a campaign expansion to finish the story, but then Microsoft did layoffs/they weren't allowed to finish the story. -- if you're talking about PVP multiplayer, I feel like 343 did good again on Infinite. If they just had a better pace of updating the game at launch it would've been amazing. The gameplay is very solid classic Halo IMO

      @@justiceforjoggers2897 here's my thought process: 1. I think Infinite's multiplayer is very solid. They lacked content at launch but that has been fixed. The gameplay is like classic Halo. The artstyle is back to classic Halo. Forge is by far the best Halo has ever seen! We even have place-able AI, I dreamed of that since 2007 but never really thought we would get it! 2. If 343 isn't ready for the next Halo, then Microsoft has a super-team of devs that could do Halo instead. "id Software" created the first-person shooter genre. They have been putting out masterpiece games for 30 years nonstop. Their new Doom game is looking great, but id Software would love a break from Doom to see what they can do with Halo. Out of all game-devs on this planet id Software is the closest thing we have to "Classic Bungie."

    Long video so I can't remember if you mentioned this but it needs to have mystery. I don't mean jazz detective hunting for clues like ODST, but the kind of mystery that you can never really get to the bottom of, where the deeper you go, the more questions you have. It needs to be eerie and unsettling, but it also has to make me wonder why any of this is here or what happened to the people who built this place or is this cave a natural formation?

    We need the game to open with Chief and Linda's assault on the orbital station in the Fall of Reach before they jump to Installation 4 as well as all the extras from Halo The Flood. AND right before the game ends, the zoom out from Chief on the longsword it slowly zooms back in. Cortana gets a ping on scan. Cue the intro to Halo First Strike. We play the first mission linking up with Johnson, rescuing Linda and then assaulting the Ascendant Justice. We play the rest of First Strike in DLC 🔥

    If they're gonna make a remake, I suspect it'll be a quick cash grab more than anything. And even if it's not quite that, I imagine it'll just be an exact recreation with better graphics. Because, I imagine, it will not enrich them much more to make a better version of the game and that's all the people who'd greenlight this would care about. That being said, we can hope.
    I don't mind the idea of expanding the game. I've always thought that including some nods to "Halo: Fall of Reach" like "Halo 3" had would have been nice. And I always thought that having a way to see the story visually that's shown in "Halo: First Strike" would have been nice. Maybe with a couple of levels expanded on, especially the free roaming part in "Halo."
    That being said...
    6:03 - I agree they could potentially change this a bit, but there's two things to note about it. Keyes needs the idea that Halo is a weapon to want to take control of it first, so you'd have to introduce that in some other idea. And I've always interpreted this as Cortana just misinterpreting what the Covenant said. Like Keyes said that he heard the Covenant say that "whoever controls Halo controls the fate of the universe." I imagine Cortana heard similar things from the Covenant and came to the conclusion they thought it was a weapon, though she also alludes at an earlier point to the Covenant thinking it has "great religious significance."
    6:48 - I think the phrasing there is a bit ambiguous, I'll grant. But I think the reason why she says "it doesn't kill flood, it kills their food" is not because it doesn't kill any flood. It's because the weapon cannot wipe out all of the flood. Things like the spores remain and can reinfect. So it doesn't kill flood in the sense that it doesn't completely wipe out the species, but it does "kill their food" in the sense that all other species with enough biomass to sustain them are killed. This way the spores can actually infect anything and after a while they die so they "starve to death."
    7:50 - I don't think it's a good idea to show what the Covenant were doing in orbit. "Halo: CE" in part relies on the Covenant being a mysterious threat that we don't quite understand. In fact, "Halo 2" was so impactful in part because it expanded on this aspect BECAUSE it was so mysterious in the first game. Giving people an insight into the flood in the first game I think is bad for that aspect of the narrative. They need to be this enigmatic, murder machine that you're terrified of for the story to work. Insight into them should only come once they become characters that you also need to empathise with because you're playing as one of them, the civil war happens, etc.
    9:09 - Does this level where the marines assault the Pillar of Autumn sound cool? Yes, kind of. However, I would be hesitant to include it. There are fair criticisms of Halo's latter half, but I think one of the great things about it is that it makes you feel very isolated and alone in your battle against the flood. Including a huge number of marines I think is counterproductive for inducing this extremely important, kind of hopeless mood in the player. I think it undercuts the effectiveness of the flood as this threat which ate through everything almost instantly until nothing was left but dust and echoes.
    ??? - I do agree, the biggest thing The Library needed was escalation. I think making it worse and wore and more horrific as time goes on would be good. I think also that maybe introducing one or two new flood types or new weapons at different points would be good. Maybe having one or two unique encounters that shake things up. And maybe cutting it down a smidge. Just stuff to make it feel more dynamic and varried but keep the basic level the same.
    19:20 - I'd put it like this: The design of the original Forerunner structures was very monolithic. They felt almost like giant gravestones or ancient tombs. And considering that they represent a dead civilization on a ring meant to wipe out all sentient life, the idea of walking through a tomb feels very appropriate.
    30:20 - Yeah, the infection forms infecting would be nice. And yes, hijacking would be great, so would better vehicle handling. When I replayed CE like last year that was probably my single biggest problem with it. I remember vehicles and vehicle sections as being really awesome, but... man, the vehicles really were terrible compared to "Halo 2." The scorpion in particular controls terribly. An update here would be very appreciated.

    Just like HiddenXperia you’re mega based for referencing Ruby’s Rebalanced mod, especially now that I’ve had the chance to play it myself. But one thing that I think Ruby doesn’t get nearly enough credit for are the various buffs and nerfs he gave to the weapons sandbox. Such as the Assault Rifle having tighter accuracy with short controlled bursts, the Plasma Pistol’s overcharge consuming more battery in order to make the Plasma Rifle more useful, the Sniper Rifle working on the Flood if you shoot them in the core, and the Shotgun having its reserve ammo almost cut in half. But my personal favorite has got to be MAKING THE NEEDLER A VIABLE OPTION ON LEGENDARY. While the retail Needler wasn’t useless, every other gun could kill things more quickly and reliably but thanks to Ruby speeding up the Needler’s projectiles by a ton it can now stand proudly with the rest of the sandbox and not under it. I know I didn’t list every weapon change but Ruby went out of his way to make Halo’s most balanced sandbox even more so.
    Another point I want to touch on is, should the remake exclusively have the amount of content it’s always had or should 343i (or whoever else is working on it) add more to it? If it’s the former then that’s fine I guess, but also a massive missed opportunity to add things in. Like Firefight, dual wielding, better armor customization, playable Elites, Forge, more AI/weapons/vehicles/modes, and that’s not even touching base on all the cut content the original game has.

Yes, the customs browser was a nice addition on paper, but who was it for? The game is basically dead. The same goes for the superficial graphical fixes. "Wow, I KINDA get to play Halo CE the way it was meant to be played, but on modern hardware, and it only took them a few years!"

    Your point about ugly cosmetics that stray from the art style of Halo is very valid. There's so much generic modern sci fi AI generated slop in Infinite that looks like something out of a mid 2010s futuristic Call of Duty game. We should either have a smaller amount of actually desirable cosmetics like fan favourite helmets and armour pieces, or just no customisation outside of your Spartan's colour scheme and have everyone play as a MK5. Also no more neon mohawks or sunglasses, kill effects or headphones. Fun cosmetics are great like Santa hats or cat ears but others are just stupid

    i really hope they are 1:1 with the original story, to be honest. i don't want the original implications or story beats of CE changed because i would be worried they'd change too far into the other direction to align with 343's halo universe. while i wouldn't mind a quick scene of chief paying respect to the dead library marine who was expanded upon in the flood, i also wouldn't want something like guilty spark being confirmed as rampant (thereby also changing rampancy as portrayed in the trilogy to be more in line with rampancy in 4 onwards) to align with 343's eu retcons of CE. would there be stuff inconsistent within the original trilogy if they kept it that way and went on to redo 2 and 3? yeah, but i think preserving the original story and lore of halo is important, and given 343's always wanted to change it, i wouldn't trust them with adding new scenes into the story.

    We don’t need another remaster, but a remake could be good. The difference in my understanding is a remaster is just a new coat a paint like what we got, and a remake is an actual recreation of the game from the ground up, and there’s tons of opportunities there. For instance the energy sword and fuel rod cannon are in the game, but chief can’t use them. Make them useable. Also they could add boarding and dual wielding. We also know that their was intended to be missions in between the ones we have that were cut for one reason or another, they could add those mission in. Lastly there are certain missions (library) that are super repetitive and could use a touch up to make them less annoying to play.

    IDEA: On Halo 2's intro, they say that Master Chief's armour and its systems were severely damaged, so, why not keep the idea of going directly into the generators but have a side effect, that the shield capacity would be cut for the rest of the campaign? it would feel more in line with the story in my opinion
