  • In this Quick Look I have the brand new MiniArt P-47, which is also their very first foray into aircraft kits!. It looks great at first glance, so lets get into it and see if MiniArt have managed to transfer their skills from Chickens and Cheese to this very popular aircraft subject.

    As well as using standard OD /NG you will probably find that the USAAF also used surplus RAF paint stocks to camouflage their fighters so it should be Dk Green/ Ocean Grey with either NMF or Med Sea Grey underneath. Thanks for the review

    Good job on the review, everything covered, and good close detail shots. It definitely looks to be a promising kit, hope it builds at least reasonably well.

    Excellent. Thank you for this one and all of the work you have done on the other videos.
    I saw "Smoke Grenade" in the instructions. I wanted to comment on that. I looked through the comments to see if anyone had done it already, but couldn't find anything. "Grenade" is not the correct word, if I am not misstaken. Those are smoke dispensers and are not dropped. Fly low, dispense the smoke.

    Many thanks for your excellent review Jen , I’m seriously tempted by this Jug from Miniart . At the risk of sounding ungrateful, I wish they’d popped a canopy mask in the kit as Academy are fond of doing now .
    I too sometimes have a video going on the IPad whilst modelling but tend to get bugger all done , podcasts work better for me .
    Greg’s channel is fantastic and authoritative.
    Keep up the great work 👍🏻

    Thank you for the detailed review!
    Nice collection of Thunderbolts there at the end!
    (You must be having a big show case for your models... 🙂)
    Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles is a great channel indeed.

      I actually don't! Most of my finished models are in boxes, and most of those boxes are in the garage .... I would love to have proper display cases I must admit.

    Miniart has done a great job with the two P-47 kits that will cater to the novice, first time to pro builder.
    The higher part count is more for quality/detail of each part with injection molding. Ryefield Models is that way with their armor kits. I believe this is what most modelers expect from new tool kits.
    I have built the Trumpeter 1/32 Razorback & Bubbletop Ds. the latter to be modified into a M. They have less detail out of the box than this model so there should not be the need for anything other than a pilot figure and or decals.
    For a challenge, I'm working on two 1/24 Kinetic kits. Compared to the Miniart it is like nailing four various lengths of 2 x 4 together. A exaggeration of course but there is a lot of work for improvement.

    Nice review. That looks great but I must admit I fancy the Tamiya kit with the jeep included.

    Nice review, I really want this but I am trying soooooo hard to keep the money in my pocket and to wait for the razorback version. I am guessing they will release that version but it seems logical.

    Overall it looks a great kit but the canopy is the biggest disappointment. My windscreen assembly has got three cold shuts in and I noticed in your video I could see one going right across the armoured section of your screen as the light caught it. I've also go one on either side panel. I got a replacement part but it's exactly the same.
    The firewall is not just behind the engine it's much further back, behind the accessory section. The 165 gal lockheed drop tanks ( 150 in the instructions) are actually naplam fire bombs, jnless you remove the ignitor on the rear end ( if you want to use it as a fire bomb they will need another ignitor on the filler cap ).
    The slide moulded section on the top of nose has been done on a panel line, so when cleaned up that will need scribing. Hopefully the lower wings will look fine after a little sanding. Don't fit the magneto to the engine, part Gc13, as it shouldn't be there. For those concerned about accuracy, I believe the cockpit floor should be the smooth type not the corrugated one.

      Yes, the canopy isn't up to the standard of the rest of it - for sure. Good informative comment, thankyou!

    Well detailed kit, especially the undercarriage and pylon options which impressed me too. But wish they hadn’t moulded the harness onto the seat. Not a deal breaker, just more work for me to fit photoetched seatbelts. Good catch on the cowling decals, I would never have noticed otherwise. But I’m leaning towards the non-basic kit just because it has markings for Gabrieski’s plane. Love your reviews, particularly when you compare similar kits from other brands. 👍🏻 PS: Greg’s Airplanes channel interests me, have subscribed.

    Thank you for the review but I'm not getting rid of my Tamiya Thunderbolts yet and not even sure I'll buy the Miniart one unless they will do a P-47N.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  7 місяців тому

      I can't disagree, there is really nothing wrong with either of the kits shown here as competition. If you didn't already have Tamiya Thunderbolts to hand, would you think the new kit the one to have though?

    • @Unyielding_Modeller
      @Unyielding_Modeller 7 місяців тому +1

      @@JenesisDesignsandModelcraftI will reserve judgment until I've seen some builds of the MiniArt kit. Specifically, I'm interested in how the overall fit will be, and more particularly, how the top decking and the multi-part cowling will come together.

    • @quangske
      @quangske 7 місяців тому

      @Unyielding_Modeller why wait? Just build the kit and you’ll see by yourself how the parts fit 😊

      The Tamiya is inaccurate in cowl taper and canopy shapes. The Mini Art has an inaccurate prop, and the flaps fit badly up (make them dropped, which requires the advanced kit version), but otherwise the Tamiya kit is a caricature compared to the Mini Art.

    Bummer, the basic kit doesn’t come with masks for the canopy.
