  • Hi modellers,
    In this video, you can see how I built this Republic Aviation P-47D Bubbletop Thunderbolt.
    This kit is SUPER44 from Eduard in 1/144, Cat.Nr.:4464. I also used Eduard PE set 144015.
    Video of the Pratt & Whitney R2800 engine build:

    This is not a sponsored video. The kit, paints, materials and everything I use were paid for with my own money.

    You make 1/144 look like 1/48, amazing skills. You can definitely moonlight as a brain surgeon!

    25:31 - The antenna wire extends to the front of the plane. 25:40 - The antenna wire extends only to the antenna mast. This was to maintain tension until everything dried and then you cut the wire in front of the mast? Wow! There's so much here I can learn from you! Thank you.

      Yes, a little trick.
      I'm glad that you like it.

    Looking at the thumbnail I was wondering why this was here with such low detail.
    Then I read...
    I never knew they made things so small, 1/144th scale? You're a beast!

    That’s a stunning amount of detail on something so small. I thought working on 1:72 Polikarpov’s were a mission but this is next level ha ha. Very cool build.

    I hope there will be more German planes. After watching the video with the bf 109, I looked at my sad looking engine and decided that I would have to modify it otherwise it wouldn't be the same. Furthermore, I discovered a lot of new ways to do things on the bf 109 video. keep it up !!! this is unique

    Wow! Thanks for this video! I've been building model aircraft for most of my life, but I am new to building in 1/144 scale. I'm happy that Eduard provides additional details. You have more confidence with using a flexible photo-etched saw next to your skin than I would. When I was 13, I made a serious cut in my thumb with an X-Acto knife.

      I try to be very careful with knives, blades and saws. I use light force to cut the parts. It takes more time but is safer.
      Stay tuned; another 1/144 model is coming.
      Thanks for watching and for your comments.

    2:15 - I sometimes use ordinary clothespins as clamps. I wouldn't do that in this scale because it might damage a part.

    • @cslvisualstudio
      @cslvisualstudio  8 місяців тому

      I prefer masking tape, because I can adjust the force. Clamps are usually too strong.

    Well that was rather brilliant, thanks.
    I'm now in a quandary, do I try a 1/72 1st world war Fighter or do I go for a 1/144 world war two jobbie. I'm currently making bits for a 1/16th tank and fancied (in the words of Monty Python) Something Completely Different.
    Oooh... decisions, decisions. Please make lots more models, I enjoy your channel very much.

      I will make lots more models, I promise. After a 1/16th model a 72nd or 144th warbird would be very different. I like all of the scales, 48th is my ultimate favourite. Stay tuned, a new video is coming very soon.😉

    13:31 --- May I ask where you found the metal tubes? I have seen them in 3mm, but I have not found them in .3mm. Thanks!

      I use Albion Alloys products from 0.1 to 3.0mm.
      A bit pricy, but superb quality.
      I'm pretty sure you can find them in every pro model shop.
      Here's a link, check it.

      Also, from my favourite webshop.

      I hope it helps.

    Hello excellnt build i have a question how many hours does IT take yOu to make this model excluding drying time only work, painting,westheirng,assembly

      Hi, I don't really remember how much time I spent on this project. Scale modelling is not my only hobby, I spend an average of 8-10 hours a week on the actual kit. An average project takes 2-4 months depending on how complex it is. The P47 was a relatively simple and quick build. I think it took about 70 hours of work. I'm a slow builder. :-)

      My compressor doesn't have a pressure gauge.

    5:52 - Is that thick, gap-filling super glue? Thanks!

    • @cslvisualstudio
      @cslvisualstudio  9 місяців тому

      This kit needed basically no filling. It was pretty good.
      Super glue is okay for filling, though I don't like it.
      I prefer dissolved putty or ordinary putty.

  • @markforster6457
    @markforster6457 8 місяців тому

    Does Mr. Dissolved Putty dry clear? I need something for parts that are molded in color. Those parts are hard to sand without ruining the color. Thank you!

    • @cslvisualstudio
      @cslvisualstudio  8 місяців тому

      No, unfortunately not. It dries white. Some of the gel super glue dries transparent.After sanding you can polish the surface back.
      Sorry, I have no better idea

    • @markforster6457
      @markforster6457 8 місяців тому

      No apology necessary. Thank you. I think I will try to dip some sprue into liquid cement, let it dissolve and see if that fills the gaps. There is also a mold seam. I may just ignore it. My only audience is me. I may grab some sprue and experiment with 8000, 10000 and 12000 grit sanding pads. Thanks for always being willing to answer questions.
