Just saw your video from last May. We have a gluten free house as well since 2005. My youngest has celiac and multiple other autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes. His docs have recommended a gluten free, dye and preservative free diet as well as avoiding all GMO food . I also try to get “normal” types of foods that other kids can eat and boy do I know this is hard. Keep doing what you are doing, I think you’re doing a fantastic job. Your fellow mom in the trenches.
I think everyone’s groceries are crazily expensive right now. We are a gf (celiac) family of 6 and I love seeing Celiac friendly grocery hauls, so TFS!
I’m just glad the price of eggs has dropped! I make my own gluten free bread and the recipe I use calls for 2 eggs and I was making a loaf every other day 😬
As someone with Crohn's and Celiac I think you did very well. Our food is very expensive. I always hoped I could get help with my food costs but sadly I cannot. I cannot eat alot of fiber such as fruits n vegetables either. So being mainly meat, it is extremely expensive. I have a mild lactose intolerance so I can eat products with milk in them but not drink milk directly. Goats milk and goats cheese doesn't bother me at all. Ignore people who scoff at your food costs because they can buy cheaper products. Hope you always have food for your children.
I don't think you mentioned either that Kroger's at least now they put a purple GF sticker on the price tag to let you know that the item is gluten free and I love that so much I wish every store would do that also thank you for bringing up Aldi's I really never thought of them having a lot of gluten-free items I am going to have to go check them out maybe I can find some good things like the donuts &stuff you found
I am so glad I found your channel! I was just diagnosed, at 44, with Hashimoto's and am now having to go gluten free. The switch has been a struggle to say the least! I appreciate all the tips and products you are sharing. I have discovered some of the options at Aldi but never knew about the May thing (gotta keep that in mind). I am definitely subscribing and looking for more of your videos. :-)
Thanks for sharing! I too try to stick to a tight budget but I'm vegan and gluten free, my son is dairy intolerant, and both my kids eat a largely plant based. Groceries add up so quickly!
I totally agree! I think a lot of people assume meat is the most expensive part of a grocery list, but I’ve found it’s often the speciality items like gluten free and plant based that really add up, especially since we tend to go thru them so quickly!
Thank you for sharing videos like this , we are a gluten free/dairy free family of 4. We are also gf/df for medical reasons. I really enjoy being able to find new ideas from your grocery videos ! Would you be willing to share some meal ideas ? Thank you for sharing your grocery shopping
I’m glad your finding my videos helpful😄 I can definitely share some meal ideas! I will add it to my list of videos to make. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thank you for sharing. We are a gluten free family of 4 (2 teens) I applaud you for sharing cost saving ideas. I would love your bread recipe and how you store it. All the good tips. ❤❤
@@kathyurbina8178 I have 2 bread recipe videos on my channel. Cook With Me | Gluten Free Bread Machine ua-cam.com/video/pb1iS2ptx5M/v-deo.html Bake Gluten Free Bread With Me (no bread machine) ua-cam.com/video/18xCTzbkNfU/v-deo.html As far as tips I would say make sure your ingredients are room temp, use a good quality yeast, and dough enhancer really helps the bread rise. I just store my bread in a ziploc bag.
20:18 yes honey I agree I had to transition from a gluten diet to a gluten-free diet it is very very difficult to do that and restrict stuff like I can't do that I want my normal diet but just without the gluten that's all I ask I don't need any extra stuff like organic dairy egg soy exc. But a lot of gluten free stuff is combined with that I think just because of convenience but I struggle with the price in the cost so much I say the minimum is $5 for a gluten-free product and it can go upwards to 15 and $20 for something that will cost $5 or $10 gluten based bread for example is what a cheap one is the $1.25 at Walmart and gluten-free bread is nearly $6
Food prices are crazy !!!!! Me and my daughter has celiac disease and where we live we have to travel awhile to get to a store and still don’t have a lot of gluten free or prices are so much … family of four here .. my son who has autism will only eat some gluten free stuff
I think you did great with the budget. We don’t have dietary restrictions and I spent that much or maybe a little more. (Family of 4- 3 adults 1 child).
Oh man I don’t have a Kroger Or an Aldi, you got some Really Good buys!🥰

Yes I love the purple sticker at Kroger. It makes it so much easier to scan the shelves looking for GF!

Yes the cost difference between regular items and gluten free is ridiculous!
Food prices are crazy !!!!! Me and my daughter has celiac disease and where we live we have to travel awhile to get to a store and still don’t have a lot of gluten free or prices are so much … family of four here .. my son who has autism will only eat some gluten free stuff
It’s hard! We have limited store options by me ands it’s very much take what you can get. The price of gf bread alone made me start making my own 🍞
