Hi there great instructional video! So my problem is that sometimes my fan and light randomly comes on. So my guess is someone around me has a remote with the same frequency. How can I get to the fan receiver so I can change the frequency codes along with the remote? The contractor put the fan it so I’m thinking the receiver is probably somewhere on the top. Do I have to take the whole fan apart to get to the receiver? Thanks.

Hi, very good and helpful video. I got it installed by electrician but I wish I could have seen this before. But now I have 2 problems. I ordered 3 of these and of those, one is making a humming noise when the fan starts. I think it's the motor. It's loud enough compared to others so I ordered the replacement motor. How do I replace just the motor? Also, all 3 remotes control all 3 fans. I know remotes have some switches but I am not sure what I need to do on the receiver to make the specific remote sync up to it? Any help on these 2 issues is appreciated.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I can tell you they should’ve made the box a little smaller to fit in there and make room for the extra wire. That’s there all of that wire needs room because when you shove the first shroud over the mounting bracket sometimes the wire hangs down and you could see the wire through the hole or the bottom of the shroud it’s a very tight environment to put everything underneath of that cover. 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

I've got four of these fans in my house. Flippers put them in less than three years ago, and already the LED assembly in one needs to be replaced because the lights constantly flicker and hurt my eyes, and the light on another one sometimes does not turn on. I also have four overhead light fixtures with integrated LEDs, and two of them have quit working. I'll either need to replace the LED assemblies or just buy new fans and light fixtures because I don't have confidence that if I replace the assemblies I won't have to do it again in another year or two. Frankly, I'd rather change bulbs. I'll never buy another fixture with integrated LEDs. Out of 8 overhead fixtures and ceiling fans, the LED assemblies in four of them have gone bad.
Also, wondering if you still think it's cool that both remotes work with both of your fixtures. My flippers did not change the codes in any of my four fans, and it has been a pain in the butt running from room to room turning switches on and off and trying to coordinate lights and fans so that I can have fans on in some rooms but not lights or vice versa. I am 62 and didn't want to have to pull the transmitters to change the codes, but now I've grown extremely weary of it.

@@chriscraft2 It does have a capacitor, probably somewhere inside the lower canopy. All ceiling fans have shaded pole motor (the last shaded pole motor ceiling fan was discontinued in 1985), permanent split capacitor motor, or DC motor (the ones wired to 120/240 volt AC power are brushless and would start differently from permanent split capacitor motor ceiling fans).

The reverse switch is under a lower canopy. But keep in mind that blades are only shaped for downdraft, and if you run it on updraft, it wouldn't cause much airflow, unless you flip blades upside down which can be dangerous cause that's how someone had blades fly off.

Any advice if you don’t have a black and white wire to connect to the receiver. Just a red one. And 3 tan ones twisted together that power 3 different light! (Kitchen, car port& back patio)

Hi there Chris, I love your video, I couldn't install it myself but thank god for handymen......even though the guy installed 2 of these one in each of two bedrooms.....he didnt think about the remot codes being set at default...so when one goes on the other one goes off......not a good thing if both rooms are occupied in the summer at night right???? i see that you slid the remote box into the area in the top. Do I need to cut the main power to the house to pull it out and change the code ? I dont know much on electric stuff much so I dont want to set a fire...lol thanks you talk effectively thanks you are great...

If I lost the remote can I delete the light kit & use a 2 way wall light switch?

    • @chriscraft2

yes, but you will need to test and see what default settings are.. Fan might only run on high as well as light on max

Chris, these instructions were a lifesaver when I installed this a few months ago, and the fan has been working great, but now I have a problem with it I'd like to ask you about. The fan is installed in my bedroom and I rarely turn the light on, and I only turn the fan on when I go to bed and then turn it off when I get up in the morning. Today, I came home and somehow the light (but not the fan) had come on by itself. I used the remote to turn the light off, however an hour or two later the light (but not the fan) came back on all by itself. I'm wondering if you've had this problem or have any idea what may be causing this and any thoughts on how to fix it. Thanks in advance for your reply.
