    I installed this fan in 3 rooms. Alllll the fans are affected by a remote from one in the other room. If someone's turns on the light or increases the fan speed in 1 room, the other 2 get affected. How can we make the remotes only affect the fans for the room it's specifically in??

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 місяці тому

      Each remote and receiver pair need to be set to a unique dip switch setting so that each remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered in detail in the video. Fast forward to the 4:06 mark "Preparing the remote and receiver"

    Please help! My Ashby Park ceiling fan receiver only has 3 wires: white, black and yellow (that's the antena). And my ceiling only has 2 wires: black and yellow. Which wires should I connect together?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 роки тому

      We really can't answer without knowing what the yellow wire is. We would suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure the wiring is connected correct. The wiring from the house should have a hot wire (typically black) and a neutral wire (typically white). The yellow may be a neutral wire, but it could also be a switch wire. Sorry we can't be more help.

    Hi! Will be picking up this fan this week but I have a quick question: Since I have a wall switch, I have 1 ground, 1 neutral (white), 1 live (black) and 1 red (from switch) in the electrical box. Which of the black or red do I connect to the red wire on the receiver? Thanks for the answer and your video.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 роки тому

      Apologies for the late reply. We missed this question. We'd suggest capping the red ceiling wire and connecting the receiver power wire to the house live wire.

    Very good instructions. However, failed to speak to the installation of the safety cable (which is key) which pretty much requires two people to install it safely.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  Місяць тому

      Thanks. The safety cable is a Canadian requirement and is covered in the Canada version of the manual. We do not cover the safety cable because this is the US version and the safety cable is not included. The addition of the safety cable should not require a second person. The steps for the safety cable are to screw a wood screw into the joist and loop the safety cable onto it. That can be done while the fan is hanging on the hook of the mounting bracket.

    Great DIY video! Straightforward!
    Quick question: I have 2 switches. I want to use one for the fan and the other one for the light. I also want to use the wireless module to control the fan speed . Is it possible to do that? Since the module has only one hot wire.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 дні тому

      Technically, it COULD be done, but we do not recommend it. To install with two switches, you would need to alter the wiring to separate the fan's light power wire (blue) from the receiver plug from the fan. That would allow you to wire the receiver to a switch and the light to the other switch. This would let you use the switch for light control and the remote for the fan speed control. We DO NOT recommend doing so because of the color temperature changing light kit. Wiring the light directly to a switch would omit light control from the remote and you would not have the ability to consistently control the light's color temperature. That can only be done using the remote control.

    I have the span but I'm having a little problem with programming. I don't know how to program the remote. We have two of these fans in the house and I want to program them differently on different frequencies I noticed that the program allows it to do that. But I don't know how to program it I have heard that you turn the light switch off do something to the remote turn it back on or something like that to program it. Could you please help me with that.? Thank you

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  5 місяців тому

      Watch the video at the 4:06 mark (preparing the remote and receiver). That section shows how to change the frequency if you have 2 of the same fan. You just need to set the dip switch settings for each remote. That will ensure that each emote only controls the intended fan.and receiver pair to a unique setting. That will ensure that each remote only controls the intended fan.

    Really like the fan. I’m having trouble switching the light colors. It’s at default, but it won’t let me switch to the brightest setting. Any suggestions?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  Рік тому

      The light is controlled by 2 different buttons. The light on/off/and brightness is controlled by the light button on the left side. The color temperature is controlled by the CCT button to the right of the light button. To dim or increase the brightness of the light, press and hold the light button. While holding that button, the light will cycle through its brightness settings. Relase the button once the desired brightness level is reached. To change the color temperature of the light, press and release the CCT button. The light has 3 options: 2700K, 3000K, and 5000K. If the light does not respond to the CCT button, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-592-5233.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  Рік тому

      Is the light installed and connected? If you are trying to test after making the wire connections, the fan will not operate until the light kit is connected. Also, make sure that if the fan is connected to a switch, that the switch is turned on. If those tips do not resolve the issue, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460.

    Thanks for the great video! Our previous fan was a two switch set up. One for the light and one for the fan.
    With this fan, the remote works for both the light and fan. Now only one switch controls the light and fan together.
    I have black, white, copper and red coming out of the ceiling. The fan only has the red and white. Any recommendations to get both switches working?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  4 роки тому +3

      We would suggest just connecting the receiver to the house black as shown in the video and not connecting it to any switches. With this fan, the receiver remembers the last setting for the fan and light. If you connect it to a switch, every time you turn the switch on/off, the light will change to the next color temperature and you will need to select the color temperature again. Connecting the receiver directly to the house power (black) avoids this issue. At most, you could connect the receiver to one standard on/off toggle switch, but again, the light control would be affected. We would not recommend setting this fan up with 2 switches.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  Місяць тому

      The receiver can only be wired to one standard on/off toggle switch. If using a switch wire, you would connect the receiver power wire to the switch wire and cap off the other house power wire and switch wire. If you are noot sure about the wiring, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician to ensure proper connections.

      Typically a red wire is a switch wire. We are not licensed electricians and if you have wiring questions, you should contact a licensed electrician. That being said, if the red wire is a switch wire, you have two options: Cap off the red wire and wire as instructed in the video, or cap off the house black wire and connect the receiver power wire to the red house wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off simultaneously using the switch. Each remote and receiver pair needs to be set to a unique dip switch setting to ensure that each remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered at the 4:06 mark. Since the fans are already installed, you will have to remove the canopy ring by twisting coutnerclockwise, and then unscrew 2 of the standard screws and loosen but not remove the 2 screws in the J slots. Then, you will be able to twist the motor housing to remove it from the mounting bracket which will give you access to the receiver. To dim the lights, press and hold the light button on the remote. While holding the button, the light will cycle from bright to dim to bright again. Release the button once the desired brightness level is reached.

      We would suggest just capping the red wire from the ceiling and connecting the receiver red wire to the house black wire. We are not licensed electricians and can not advise on specialty wiring and would suggest contacting a licensed electrician if you are not sure about the wiring. That being said, typically, a red wire is a switch wire. If that is the case, if the switch is a standard on/off switch, you can connect the receiver red wire to the house red wire and cap off the house black wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the light's color temperature may change if the switch is turned off then on rapidly (within 4 seconds).

      We would suggest making sure the wiring is connected correctly and that the wiring did not disconnect/get loose during the installation. That will sometimes happen after making the wire connections. If that doesn't resolve the issue, we would suggest calling the Home Decorators customer service team at 1-800-986-3460.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 роки тому

      @@brandonturpin8932 We're glad to hear it's working perfectly, but... Typically the black and red wires are power wires. The red is typically a switch wire and the black is typically the house constant power wire. In most cases, those wires should not be connected together. We'd suggest just connecting the red ohuse wire to the red receiver wire and cap off the black wire to see if that works. Again, we're not licensed, so can't really advise on different wiring scenarios, and if it's working great, but we'd hate to hear that the receiver got overloaded by having 2 power wires connected.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 роки тому

      Technically, the fan's receiver can be wired to a standard on/off toggle style switch which would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off at the same time. We don't recommend using a switch because if the switch is turned off/on too quickly, it could cause the color temperature of the light kit to change. For optimal operation, the fan should only be controlled with the remote.

      It sounds like the outlet box may not be completely tightened. If all other hardware is completely tightened, the outlet box seems like the only issue. • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 роки тому

      here are some troubleshooting suggestions:
      1. Check that the reverse switch is fully in position. Switch it back and forth to make sure that it is not in the middle. If the reverse switch is not fully in one of 2 positions, the fan won't operate.
      2. make sure the dip switch settings in the battery compartment of the remote and the dip switch settings in the receiver match. If not, the remote will not operate the fan.
      3. Make sure the wiring did not loosen during the installation. Sometimes after connecting the wiring and moving the wires, the wires might get loose and disconnect.
      If those tips do not resolve the issue, call the customer service number on the manual.

    I’m installing this fan while watching this awesome video. But my question is on my previous fan i had a separate switch between the fan and the light. Not exactly sure how to proceed from there. Should i connect to just one black and one white? And just kill one of the switches?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. We would recommend wiring the receiver directly to the house constant power wire (black) and just capping off the switch wire. The fan is not recommended for use with any switches due to the color changing LED. The LED has a memory to remember the color temperature setting and if connected to a switch, the light color temperature may change each time the switch is turned off/on.

    Can anyone please tell me if your light has a 3 second delay when turning on with light switch and remote?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 роки тому

      We do not recommend installing this fan's receiver to a light switch. There will be a delay between turning the switch on and the fan/light turning on. This is to ensure that the receiver does not suffer a power surge. Also, we don't recommend using a light switch with this fan because it could cause the color temperature of the light to cahnge each time the switch is turned off/on. The light has a memory to remember its last setting and using a switch may erase the memory since power to the fan/light will be cut off.

    We followed this video like you showed. Except, there is one step that should have been opposite than the way you showed.
    Wiring the Fan at 5:45.
    When you have the fan hanging, it's very difficult to see the wires, much less trying to twist then together.
    If you wire the remote to the wires coming out of the ceiling, then hook the fan and let it hang, then snap the connection together. We couldn't do it they way you showed.
    I didn't think I would ever get the connection UN-snapped, so I could do it the Smart, easy way.
    It's a lot less STRESSFUL, to do it they way I just said.
    That's the only part of the video that we didn't like or agree with.
    The guy that installed it here, should have caught that and edited the video.
