I dont get the hate for the ai art in ds. It was a could not be for any profit endeavor so spending any money on the project makes it that much messier and more likely to get sued over. Having to wait on an artist’s timelines for commissioned free art for 35 factions and all the extra planets sounds like a nightmare. I think with 35 factions it also shuts down the not something for everyone argument down, there are so many more play styles that fit w the additional factions. How did you want to be included? Did you approach the designers who did all of this for free with your ideas for factions and content and get shut down? The designers of ds deserve a lot of credit for what they did. If nothing else, all they provided was more fun for the community for no gain other than the ability to be able to play with it themselves. That was really cool of them. If you want real art, they prob would have no problem having it be made into official ti4 content with official art produced by ffg. Im just happy they finally overcame the hurdles and had it made for the community.
We actually talk about this in the latest episode of the show, I wouldn't say we hate the ai art we just feel complicated about it. AI art is a touchy subject so it's just kind of a bummer that it's associated at all. I'm not really sure that it sounds like a "nightmare" anymore than any of the other work done on the project. It's a lot of stuff! The designers do deserve a lot of credit for their work on DS, it's a really staggering achievement.
Why can't the factions/player colours be picked a bit more senibly, very confusing with yellow Sardak and greem empyrin, etc XD
