What a terrible construction implementation -- the ridged vent went vertical up to the roof and would obviously collect rainwater. So many errors. This house has been designed to fail and all vents need to be re-examined for the possibility of holding water, even if there is no water currently in it. Great find for your client, Cathy! At 1:13 it looks like that venting is not even solidly connected with an airtight seal, so wet/polluted air looks like it will leak into the attic anyway (in violation of Section M1507.2: Exhausted Air Terminal Point of the International Building Code)
BTW, if you bring with you three 2x6s that are 36+ inches long (longer than 2 bays) you can lay them across the beams and kneel, and walk them across the span carefully.

Thanks Ken - you're correct, lots of errors in this house. Unfortunately this is the builders do it these days ;( Good tip on the 2x's, though hauling those around and getting them up into the attic is whole other thing I probably don't have the energy to do at the end of an assessment ;)
