    So to summarise:
    - Swimmer gets drunk, pulls down a sign from a wall.
    - Armed men see this and pull their guns on him and his friends, and demand money.
    - He then gives an interview whilst still drunk and didn't get the facts 100% accurate.
    - He later admits to the vandalism and says that the gun wasn't to his head.
    - But him and his friends were STILL held at gunpoint until they gave over money to random men.
So what should the punishment be? 🤔
    1. Be made to pay for the damage and issue a public apology?
    2. Be arrested and sentenced for the vandalism?
    3. Loose all of your sponsorships, your career, and be vilified for being held at gunpoint until you gave over yours and your friends money to random men.

That footage towards the end where he looked like he was about to cry almost made me cry. You can tell when he said he sometimes thinks it'd be better if he went to sleep and never woke up would be better for everyone else. He wasn't saying it as a way to garner sympathy. He actually meant it. He was so broken, so tired of everything going wrong, and tired of feeling like he let everyone down. He felt like he let down his family, his country, and other swimmers... He just looked like he was over all of it. I also remember back when it was being reported. First, that he had been held up, then that he was lying, and basically nothing really after that. I don't remember anything coming out after that which was unfortunate. He had been labeled a liar by the world's media. All because he embellished part of the story while he was still under the influence and had been up for over 24 hours. Poor guy. Glad his GF (now wife) stood by him and saw the positive in him. He has a beautiful family and it seems like life is much better now.

He wasn't trying to be cool for the cameras, he was portraying himself as a victim of crime in the country when actually he was the perpetrator of drunken vandalism. It further made him look like a coward when he fled the country before Brazilian authorities could stop him, and even worse, abandoned his teammates there.
If Lochte was so innocent, why did the police stop him from leaving? It's because they didn't want him to flee the scene of the vandalism that was caused. In those countries, people flee and avoid any type of trial, and the victim has to take the loss.
Yes, it was just a sign and the police exaggerated that the bathroom was damaged, but the tone Lochte set in the first interviews was him being a victim which undoubtedly irked the Brazilian authorities when that was far from the truth, and they retaliated by adding and fabricating the bathroom vandalism.

wow, he's not a smart guy, but he's genuine.
he loves swimming. and he's good at it! that "i dont want anyone to hurt. maybe it would be better if i just... don't wake up. and then nobody would hurt." really broke my heart.

*Cancel. And it depends, it's justified if the person is genuinely shitty and doesn't deserve what they have in the first place. Some people only learn by it being made clear that others will not tolerate the shit they're doing and getting slapped savagely.

Right it wasn't even a lie. He just twisted some things around but said the exact same thing. People do it all the time. Especially if you're trying to re tell something still drunk. But the media flat out lied and it's refreshing to see people stand up and not do fake apologies anymore. F them.

@@sixohninereally? Bc what I heard is a security guard held them at gunpoint and took there money. No one spoke there language and he thought he was a cop. Sounds pretty accurate to what he said. Not like the monkey that robbed him was going to buy a new sign. The country is a sh*t hole and no one could even tell the sign was gone 😂

@@qbcomicaddict2590 nice to see how you talk about brazilian people. In this video it shows how he said he was robbed at gun point while having a gun to his forehead and whatnot. In this video it also says how the security guard used the gun to control the scene, then a person translated for em so they knew what was going on, and what was going on was that he was forced to pay for some damages he caused.
