my buddy threw a project x party in 2014. It was wild. Granted he's loaded and has a huge mansion but it was kept to backyard only (his backyard is massive), DJ with speakers everywhere, hired staff serving drinks, security (friend) at the front gate. There ended up being over 1200 people in his backyard, people jumping fences trying to get in. The night ended with 2 helicopters over his backyard, 10 cop cars, and all of us running away into the abyss because we were 17 lmao. Anyways Project X was a huge classic and had everyone amped up after. Bunch of parties got trashed in my area after this. But lets not forget Miles Teller in this film, who would've thought he'd end up where he is now

Myself and 3 of the homies were cast as background actors for this film in 2011; at the time we had all just turned 21 within the last 4-5 months of each other. Pay was whatever, it was Cali minimum wage at the time which was $8 but it was paid cash at the end of the day and you legit received the full $8. Seeing you do this video just gave me nostalgia like no other bro lmao It was one wild time of movie set, and the way the actors described the director wanting to keep it "authentic/real" was 100% accurate. I'm not gonna say that the movies higher ups wanted all the 21-25 year old's actually drunk on the sets, but they would literally scream on megaphones at the end of each day "make sure to come back tomorrow AS PREPARED AS YOU NEED TO BE!" LOL
I'd say 60% of us were drinking booze on set with cheap pocket shots and the non-alcoholic drinks the studio provided. It sure made filming go by quick lol; great video Patrick!
Really? That’s awesome man. That was a time to live
Despite turning 22 the month it came out, casting me would've been out of the question. I only appeared 13 y.o., absent my height, and I would've been too shaken up from all the relatives who died of chemical substances, including alcohol, ever since my single digits.
@@dominicfucinari1942 What do you mean...? Three of the four main characters look under 18... The whole point was to make it LOOK like high school, so you obviously would've been perfect to cast. Total opposite way of thinking there bro.
I always saw Project X as a darker version of Superbad.
Superbad on steroids.
SuperWorse

They most definitely got the idea for Project X from that teen in Australia. Hollywood is so creatively bankrupt, they'd never admit to being inspired by true events.
Corey Worthington? He was an inspiration!
Yeah, prob true, but this one had a Kid Cudi pursuit of happiness remix immortalized with it 😀
@stmsin Only once the person who inspired the film is gone, lol.
The living inspirations will always want a piece of the profit (understandably). Hollywood is not the type to share.
Definitely. It's kinda embarrassing that they don't want to admit it.
@stmsinyou have a point the Texas chainsaw massacre is based off ed gein but most of the film is just Bull shit the true strory was probably to much for Hollywood to deal with so I kinda understand why

Okay but that $500,000 house back then, would literally be $2M today.
2009-2013. Was the greatest party era. There was barely any home surveillance cameras and parents couldn’t track us like kids get tracked today. We had the internet and texting to make parties huge. 50 percent of kids had adderall prescriptions. “LMFAO” was the most popular music during that time. Also the housing market just crashed. So there was plenty of abandoned houses to throw huge parties in.
High school era for me, completely insane time
What’s sad is I went to high school in 2014-2019and my friends parents had iPhones that they’d track their iPhones with life 360 and my friends would go to parties or dangerous spots and leave their phones in the mailbox so they couldn’t be tracked! So dangerous!

I had a party that my parents were out of town. People showed up that I had no idea who they were. Beer cans, cups everywhere. Tire marks all through the snow in my field. Hell even found a blunt in my Christmas tree. Car ran off into a ditch leaving that we had to push out before anyone called the cops. Had to have been over a 100 people when it was only supposed to be a few people. This was December of 1996. Best party I ever had.
I unironically tried to throw a Project X style party during my senior year of high school (2012) when my parents went on vacation for a week. I was a quiet more nerdy kid who played sports, but I was not really popular at all. When I decided to throw this party, it was like I turned into a King lol. One of my favorite memories of that night was my 1994 red volvo ending up in my front yard with one of the tires stuck in the mud. Also had the cops come to the party to see a laundry list of cars lined up on the side of the road near my house (which was on an off road). I went and talked to the cops and they basically said stay safe and have a nice night. Memories for life.
Sometimes no amount of money in the world can buy certain moments like that, lol that’s amazing
I remember going to a party like this in 2011. Just a year before this film came out, it was during my senior year of HS. And the amount of parties i went to after this film came out were legendary. I remember when that party went down in Michigan, I was 15 or 16. I had two friends that tried to go but by time they got there they couldn't get down the street and there was a car flipped on its side in the ditch So they park their car and partied with other people that couldn't even make their way to the party... It was so big that there were groups of people that couldn't even make it to the main party chilling before they abandoned and turn the cars around. I remember thinking "I'll probably hear from you guys in a few days because that's not going to end well and surely you'll get in trouble". This is honestly an insanely executed video. Whether it’s the editing or just the story telling. This is a great video.
Except that one part where it skips
i remember having parties in high school. i had maybe a dozen of them, 30-50 people and maybe 100 at the last one. i lived in a upper middle class neighborhood with larger houses/ properties, and most importantly, space / trees/ between my house and the neighbors to soak up the noise. everyone had to park in the driveway or in front of my house (neighborhood had no sidewalks so parking was the biggest issue). and after my second party , before people started to arrive, i would go to the neighbors on either side of my house and told them i was having a party and if it got too loud, to contact me first and i would either tell people to pipe down or leave, which only happened one time. that led to many a good party and no "casualties"

I live near St. John’s University literally two blocks away here in Queens New York and I remember back in the early 2010s when Project X was still a freshly new movie. The parties in my neighborhood were wild even going as far as someone throwing some type of object smashing my glass door.
Corey Worthington walked so Project X could run
Man I'm so old haha, I can remember this coming out and we had a project X in the Netherlands afterwards.
It was crazy, cars on fire, police everywhere, just total chaos. The city warned everyone that the party was cancelled but no one listened.
I mean I can’t lie the dude at the end was right how does your 14 y/o middle schooler not only sneak out of the house, find a ride to the party, then stays out till 7 or 11 am without you noticing? Ok maybe they were able to sneak out at night but you don’t check on your kid when you wake up or even when they stay in their room till 11. My mom always came in at like 10 maybe 10:30 saying “you’re sleeping your life/day away”. Most definitely look inward before blaming some random guy for throwing a party.
Damn...I just sat through a 24 minute music video promotion
The fact that dax flame was the dude behind the camera is so hilarious to me 😂
I’m actually grateful when this movie came out a few years when I was in HS we actually were in the country at a big house and I got to live out this project x fantasy
Marks parents are out of town for the week so he’s throwing a rager this weekend. Hope to see you there bro

Yeah we had so many project X parties during my high school years and NGL it was the most insane time of my life! Literally My junior year to Freshman Year of College had the best parties in the world! OG 4 lokos ran the world, Parents got arrested, houses got destroyed, virginities were lost, friends were made, and it was unforgettable! I will say the upside/downside was that nothing after that was near as good. This helped me quit drinking and partying all together at age 23 and I was really able to focus and level up my life since then, now Im married and very successful in my career! Some of my friends though have sadly become alcoholics and are still chasing those times that literally cannot be recreated! So there's always something that gets sacrificed for such an insane time.
I'm glad you evolved into a better version of yourself, brother.
I never did any of this in my high school years, still pretty young (I'm 24) but I love simple things and most importantly… PEACE! Nothing better than that.
Luckyyy I didn’t stop drinking til 28 😒 wish I stopped younger
@9:25 music went hard here

It's crazy I remember being in University when this movie hit, and it was quite the time to be partying in that era. Just about Every college party for a few years was advertised to be this. Also that Pursuit of Happiness remix is pure epic and it was played everywhere.
I'll never forget seeing this in Theaters. The crowd was lit with the movie. Hahah
This movie came out just as i was around 16-17. It became this thing that year that every party had to be the biggest and best. I miss those days.
Ya so do i have so much great memories of those times
I started high school the same year when it came out what a time it was. good ol days
I really like project x as a guilty pleasure movie. It came out when I was 18 so I was the target audience.
My mom freaked out I invited 3 of my close friends to her house when she was away. I can't imagine 1000s.
Actions have consequences…
I was 14 when this came out and the same age when I started partying and we tried everytime to get to project x levels. Never got close but it definitely lead to some wild parties. The movie definitely defined a generation of high school parties.
My project x story was also inspired by this movie. Granted I never made the news, but I branded it as project V after the movie, marketed it on social media which caused hundreds of people to show up, and had a lot of similar out of control aspects happen (people swinging from my parents chandelier, fights breaking out, bunch of stuff broken, cops showing up, etc.) I got in trouble for this with my parents but that was the extent of my consequences. I threw a total of 3 parties, all of which were my parents going out of town and thinking it was smart to leave me alone at home even after the first 2 parties. Looking back on it as an adult in my late 20s, the story still comes up and my answer is always the same.. I regret nothing and would do it all again. Those parties were some of the highlights of my young life. Not to mention how many girls I got off being the host of those parties. Good times.
I’m 36 and best night of my life is still a rave I attended in 2007 😂
😬 it's okay to keep things to yourself. 😬
@@vhsextra4042 I’m not sure that’s how the internet works tbf
That’s so awesome, don’t listen to the buzzkill above me lol
@@evelynnnyt his opinion would be different if he had been at this particular rave 😎
@@evelynnnytbruh, if you lived through all your 20s and early 30s not had a better night than when you were 17 years old during the recession of 07. Be so fr....
