Can we just take a moment to fully appreciate the literary genius that it takes to write a song of entirely letter based word play? Like, this song really highlights the talent that goes into NSP songs.

***** funny thing is you don't know how to play chess. you have to say "check" if they're king is in danger, and if they are in check, they are forced to make a move that puts them out of check. ninja brian was in check and then danny just took his brian's king, even though he had no pieces preventing brian's king from just moving out of the way.

Man some of their stuff really is on par with Lonely Island at it's finest. They just lack that NBC set budget.

Part of what makes NSP so funny is how they don't try to act as if they had a budget. Everything is intentionally cheap and cheesy.
Except for the music, of course. That is genuinely excellent.

I think some of their stuff is better than Lonely Island.
No disrespect to Samberg et al., at all. I think The Lonely Island was more constrained by being more commercial / popular quite quickly - by going in that direction. So, in terms of lyrics and ideas, their songs are generally (a lot) slower. They don't cover as much "ground" / offer as much (variety) packed into one song ... and, AFAIK, across songs either.
That said, I love both groups. But, if I were being sent to a deserted island and could only choose one group to bring along, I'd definitely be having a ninja sex party on that lonely island.

Just as far as sheer music goes (and the lyrics are amazing too, don't get me wrong) this is probably the best.
You really nailed an excellent late 70s rock ballad style. Wish you would push it further somehow! You have excellent musical talent behind that goofiness.
Check out his other bands: The Northern Hues (Arrows is one of their best songs imo), and some other band of his called Skyhill. They do music that isn't all about weiners and butts and boobs, if you're into that kind of stuff.
