I think they’re so popular because they’ve “appropriated” (don’t know a better word for it) British working class fashion. They’re making extremely wearable street wear (aside from their weirder items like the crocs). The richer in society think they’re so cool for wearing things the working classes have been wearing for years and years (most notably the dad trainers) this may come from his past being poor.
The most fitting word would be exploiting( you can't appropriate something you've lived) I couldn't agree more but then again I think Balenciaga is so popular because there slightly minimalistic but have a subtle flare that's eye-catching

Ever since Balenciaga put out that Ikea bag, I was a fan. I'd never buy anything they sell nowadays (I prefer the Cristobal era by far), but I love that they overprice those ugly, ironic pieced of clothing. I loved Nicolai at Balenciaga but I absolutely ADORED Alexander Wang’s take and am still shocked it was met with such a lukewarm reception but I do think Demna’s Balenciaga is quite simply, excellent - even if it is quite similar to Vetements - all tea all shade ☕️

Maximalism was pretty cool at the beginning, but often I see a lot of similarities in how these companies approach it.
I used to want to buy Triple S and wear them ironically but then I realized that most people wear them unironically ???? Like why??? They look so tacky and are a satyre so like ?????? Great video as always, I don't get what's wrong with designers referencing or taking past designs and doing it in your own way i.e what he did with Margiela. Unless it's a blatant copy or rip off like how Virgil ripped off Raf multiple times, i think it's fine because retrospectively nothing in fashion is original anymore, "everything is a reference of a reference" - kamil abbas. Demna is really good at taking what's current with youth culture and flipping it for example the whole meme of Vetements etc. He's a really talented designer who does not get enough credit and won't until the day he dies or maybe in 10-15 years time.
