I helped my friend build his first gaming PC back in January 2017, immediately after Kaby Lake launched. I _begged_ him to wait a few months for Zen to come out, but he insisted on doing it right then and there. I ended up having him get an i5 6500 (Skylake parts were slightly cheaper since Kaby Lake had just launched) for $190. It felt so terrible to recommend it to him, but it really was the best thing available within his budget.
John Smith Old? My first DOS pc for games (Civ I and Gold Box Games at the time) was in the 80s or early 90s, a Zenith 8086 I built using parts my grandfather got clearing out a PC lab at Umaine. Cable management is mostly just for looks, you realize that, right? Even for future parts swapping, its not good, as it often requires the user to remove Velcro ties and plastic tire-ups, not to mention cables that are stashed inside channels and in holes that the case provides. In some extreme cases (pun intended), lack of cable management with a non-modular PSU can result in poorer airflow inside the case, but we're talking about LOTS and LOTS of cables being loose and running directly in front of case fans, so only there I would have an actual concern. Conclusion: RGHD did things very well in this video with this build.

As per in-depth reviews, the 4GB 5500XT on non-PCI-4 motherboards will severely drop performance if you exceed its VRAM limit, as the bandwidth is crippled between it and the system RAM. Something to keep in mind as VRAM needs increase.

Steve, great and informative video as always. I have built many Ryzen builds myself, and I could say the less common stock cooler variant which contains 7 fins (instead of more regularly found 5 fin configuration) has indeed a weird buzzing sound, that is, i'd say pretty annoying, so if anyone owns this fan, i'd recommend swaping it out, unless you dont mind some weird noise.
Just subscribed to your channel. Tbh I have watched a few of your videos already and I really like the way you explain yourself. I haven't come across many UA-camr's that live in the UK and do PC builds. It's very refreshing I wish there were more. There is nothing more annoying than watching a budget build video when they buy their parts on the cheap from a company that doesn't even exist in the UK. I need some advice I want to build 2 desktops this year for my daughters for £500-£600 total. Originally I was looking at Ryzen APU builds without a graphics card. Then I was looking a 2nd hand builds then 2nd hand builds that I could upgrade I am so confused what course to take. My daughters don't play any serious games really just Sims and Minecraft with a lot of mods but their laptops are pretty bad and are already falling or fell apart. I know these games are not up there but it would be nice to have a bit of room to play more up to date titles aswell. I have some long service vouchers from work coming up soon so it would be nice if I could source the bulk of the parts from say Currys. Sorry for such a long message in future I will try and be more concise. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing more of your upcoming videos. Keep up the good work.
Got this due to shortage of 2200g / 3200g. Turned out it's better than the two and is blazing fucking fast. Pair it with MSI B450M Mortar Max and you'll not get disappointed with it's full capacity.
This pc is faster than mine... And I used to really be into high performance hardware... I had an i7 5775C and a GTX 1070 FTW back when those were recent components... How times have changed... I've been rocking a 1500X and a 970 for two years now... I'm kind of into the idea of getting a 3300X and a 1070 again though...
DDR4 standard has the clips designed that way, as you're meant to put one end first (no clip) then press the other end down after (clip end) - look at connector strip on the RAM, you will see it's also shaped to allow a slight-rock during insertion... it's meant to make it easier, as you dont have to do both ends at the same time anymore....
Good to watch some1 gives proper respect to 3100. Big channels says 3300x is better because they test only with 2080 ti and dont get that most of people will have gpu bottleneck anyway...
If anyone wants to use this build but wants a MOBD to be Ryzen 3rd Gen ready I recommend getting the MSI B450M-A Pro Max. It’s great all around and you only need to dish in less than 10 bucks.

In general, 8GB total is still okay for most typical workloads under Windows 10. 16GB gives you more headroom, but if money is tight, you can still get away with 8GB.
@@EnglishMike he means to test the difference between 3100 and 3300X
There is a video of 4gb vs 8gb vs 12gb vs 16gb, result is 8gb is not enough anymore 12gb+ is what is needed so just get 16gb.
@@johngray3449 for e-sports 8GB is still fine, and people on a budget this tight probably won't be able to afford all the latest and greatest AAA titles anyway. Trust me i can confirm that i was a budget gamer for a very long time in the past.
Always a treat to watch your videos !! Love you man !! Keep up the great work !!

Even tho i know how to build a pc very well i still watched the whole video 😂
Same here.
I'm building a PC for my sister soon for Christmas, will be getting her the 3100 and 1660 super.. this build video helps! :)
please, benchmark Doom eternal it's the third time i ask !
ANYWAYS, nice content.

"What comes after 1/2?"
Literally every single number > 1/2.
2i

@@happygimp0 complex numbers aren't an ordered field, 2i > 1/2 doesn't make sense. also there is no successor to a rational number, therefore no number comes immediately after 1/2.
Far cry 5 is already 2 years old!?!?!? Time flies man
I just picked up a free copy of Borderlands 2 from the Epic Games store. I was shocked to see it's almost 8 years old already!
@@EnglishMike I got it too, I used to play it with my buddy on Xbox split screen

They are now :)
Really useful guide to building a PC. Thank You !
how to make a budget gaming pc : Start working - some boomer probably
Isn't that how you get money?
Yes, that's generally how you acquire currency.

Good video man!

Mate. Just a reminder. Next time, don't forget to show how you connect the intake-exhaust case fans. I have seen many novice builder straight up forgot to do that properly and cooked their components
Pair this exact PC with a 1080p 75Hz monitor and you're golden. Fantastic performance for such low end hardware.
Glad to see the warzone gameplay, I’ve never built a PC but was curious about building a budget pc for warzone but I’m looking to get around 100fps
As per in-depth reviews, the 4GB 5500XT on non-PCI-4 motherboards will severely drop performance if you exceed its VRAM limit, as the bandwidth is crippled between it and the system RAM. Something to keep in mind as VRAM needs increase.
Just for your info, the design of the RAM modules with the clips on one side only was to allow you to remove the RAM without having to remove your graphics card to open the clips
This is such a solid build, it's really amazing what you can build for the money these days.
Thanks for all your videos, especially with used components, I just found a £230 RTX 2060! Best of luck in future, you deserve more subs
Thanks dude! just bought all of those and am putting it together today!
I built a couple of 3100 budget gamers with 6600 GPU's on A320 Mobos for friends. They were solid gamers.
So your telling me this Isn’t just mumbo his tech channel, the same calm relaxt voice, very nice
i should not do not do what my friend did and remove the plastic shield on the back plate or you will short the bored (i know you never would) but there are those that need to be reminded its there for a reason.
Thankd for the look at this build. It is almost identical to the one I was thinking of putting together soon. Just with the 3300x instead, but this helps me a lot,. Thanks RGinHD
I built a budget system with a 3200g and a used rx580 a month or two ago. Just pre ordered a 3300x and can’t wait! I get similar frame rates maybe a little less
9:36 The first time I assembled my PC, I forgot to plug these cables in and went to a computer shop to fix the PC that was "unbootable". Had to carry the PC and walk there as well. Luckily it is a mini itx case, but still heavier and much chunkier than the briefcase designs.
just what am looking for ill be building this soon for my Budget Gaming PC thx
I wouldnt recommend building a pc right now considering that a decent gpu costs about 500dollars

I build my own PCs for about 20 years already. Even though, I am here appreciating this nice build.
Were you building Macintosh back then?
If you want to go a bit cooling overkill for a more silent system, the original cooler brackets are also required for the Wraith Max and Prism as well as some aftermarket heat sinks.
That damn sea quell (spelled?) is more tame than a house cat. Crazy how it does not fly off sitting on that roof. Good guide.
wow.... building a pc is way easier than i thought! i always thought i would break something while building a pc, but its way easier than i thought actually!
very nice tutorial, been here from 50K subs. wish you luck
I have the exact same ssd and processor. Still going strong 4 years later
I used this case for a few builds but it was pretty nice, one of my favourite affordable cases!
The 5500XT is definitely a decent pair for the 3100 but 3100 is just deserving of something like an RTX 2070
Got this due to shortage of 2200g / 3200g. Turned out it's better than the two and is blazing fucking fast. Pair it with MSI B450M Mortar Max and you'll not get disappointed with it's full capacity.
Your voice is very satisfying my man
Just backordered my 3300X yesterday, last piece I need for a nice gaming PC. Just a backup to my good PC , might sell it for the right price.
i already built my pc but this is the best pc build guid i have ever seen
Holy 20 minute RandomGaminginHD video Batman!!!
A very nice budget cpu, especially 3300x(wasnt especting a 4core 8 tread cpu to be better than a ryzen 5 2600, till i saw the 7nm and the age of 2600, a cpu that i own for 8 monts, and i m very proud of it)
