Just bought my 2nd pair of Florsheim shells. Wings 1st, now Royal loafers. Both off ebay, and both with 1" heels. I grew up in the Detroit area, and as a kid saw Florsheim everywhere.
Great description of the Florsheim Kenmoor of which I have a few pairs of and love to wear. I have a brown pair of that shoe with the all leather heels that I favor very much. True they make a nice sound on the floor but if your careful on tile floors for example you can walk easily with the all leather heels with v plates. Always enjoy your videos very much so.
Interesting shoes, that made by Florsheim. This must be made for a while, before the brand deteriorated to today's situation~ It seems Alden's finish on #8 really darkens the color a lot, to be even close to black, especially on this loafer. Thank you for your abundant videos on Shell Cordovan. I'm about to visit the Alden store recently and buy a pair of cap toe boots after a really long consideration. I though my first Shell Cordovan would be from AE due to its lower price, but unfortunately their park avenue doesn't have as big a cap as Alden's.
Love your vids, been subscribed for some time now. Wished you did more, but I was wondering if you consider doing a collection review. Maybe share what style/color combinations that you consider to be essential footwear pieces, and what pieces you're keeping an eye out for.
If I know my history right, I think that shoe is called the Kenmoor! They still make a non-cordovan version of the shoe today, but like you said they aren't made in the USA anymore and are said to not come close to the old ones in terms of quality.
Just was at an estate sale and found these exact shoes for $2! What a steal! Had them resoled with a JR Rendenbach sole, and gave them a good polish, and they look brand new! I am curious, back when Florsheim was what Allen Edmonds is today, how much would a pair of these go for, brand new?
You obviously love “Burgandy” colored shoes, but curious if you get tired of them ever and wear anything in lighter browns. Or any other colors for that matter. I love burgandy, but dont like the burnish makers are applying now, so looking more at shells to avoid it.
With your stock of corodvan shoes I was hoping you could provide some advice. I recently scratched a pair of AE Brown Park Avenue shell cordovans on the outer edge right b4 the captoe on the side. Anyway, has there been any methods you have used to cover or "mask" the scratch? Thanks!

One of my favorite shoe. I had a pair for fifteen years and used them at least three times per week.
Congrats on that pickup. Great looking wingtip!

I need to upgrade to some shell cordovan shoes!!

If you end up purchasing the Alden 975 I'd love to see a side by side comparison of all three (Florsheim, Alden, AE)!
Thank you. Looking for a Pair. Burgendy..just like I wore in school. 1967..
I like the rounded toe. Some shoes get too pointy.

I am sure it greatly depends on the year in question. I have seen advertisements for them from the 1960s for $29.95.
Great find!
Seems to me I paid just over $ 100 when I bought them new in the 90's.
Vintage 93605 are equal or better than Alden. Better than Allen Edmonds IMHO.
Very nice. I have two pairs of 93605s and on both pairs the left and right shoes are slightly different colors. Do you notice that on yours?
Beautiful shoes! How did you size them?

Very nice finish. What happened to Florsheim? It looks like their shoes are now made on Italy but quality really went downhill.
The O.A.O. That's what happens when you opt for cheaper labor.
Florsheim should've called this model "Dreadnought"

Yes- I start with cream, followed by a thin application of color-matching (brown in your case) polish. Good luck!
Thanks! Experience speaks
Are you referring to the shell cream initially or reno?
Amb1 - I have used either - my current favorite is Venetian but renovateur will work well too.
May I ask how do they fit as compared to AE's MacNiel?
about the same across the ball of the foot, and significantly more roomy in the toe box.
Estos zapatos son buenos?
in my country very hard to find british brands , what you think about louis vuitton wagram risheliu oxford shoes ?
+TheMajorlucifer I don't have any experience with them personally, so I cannot comment. Sorry.
TheMajorlucifer ...LV shoes are for posers. Stick w/AE, ALDEN, or at least Frye or JM if you can't find English made shoes.
LV is a fashion brand. The shoes in this video are much higher quality. I've had LV shoes before as well.
