@@supaahflyy I mean yeah for the purpose of a ‘launch control’ 4k rpm is completely unnecessary but it’s still fun to spin the tires given that you’re in a safe environment
@@supaahflyy yea i got an m4c aswell amd the ideal rpm is somewhere between 2400 and 3000rpm depending on weather the road is grainy(more towards 3k) or smooth(more towards 2.5k)
Three things: 1)@MistrMcGill and @YazeedSaber: It's not actually that complicated, unless you set all the parameters manually every time like the demonstrator did. I suspect it was his first goround in the car. Most of us do not set everything every time. In mine I have my M2 button set for top of the range of everything: S+, S+, S+, DSC OFF, and Drivelogic 3 anyway, So all I have to do is hit M2 (twice to confirm the DSC setting), then brake-hold, and gas-hold. Defaults to about 3K on the clock, and you're ready to go. So, Button, Button, Pedals, Then off the brake to go go go. Easy Peasy, Fast M-Threezy. 1.5) dman smith, I agree with you. My M5 is way harder to set up for LC than my M3. Definite improvement. 2) As for his launch being whipped by the truck, I think that's his fault. He was still fooling with the launch RPM (the selector on the left spoke of the wheel) when the light dropped. Would love to see it with a dude who was prepared. 3) Yes, we all know the sound is disturbing to people who like the V8 noise or the old NA I-6 noise. I agree those noises were beautiful, but, ladies and gentlemen, the noise you hear out of the M3 is the noise of the future; the sound of efficiency (143HP per liter is pretty impressive for an engine designed to go the distance as a luxury sport sedan/coupe, even if pressurized). In person, it's still a little unorthodox sounding, but better than in the videos. More like a growl than a purr, and the acceleration sound is more like a bark. No matter how you feel about it, everybody knows you're not rolling in a 328 when you pass by.
I agree with the sound thing as very recently I had the pleasure of being in an M4 Convertible w/ the roof down and it was more of a growl than this raspy sound. Dream car for sure.
the two most important are the M1/M2 batons on your steering wheel you can program them how you want including a set up for launch control to be able to activate it just takes two pushes of either m button u set it up on.. so not a few just two more buttons lol
I have a 2015 m4 convertible running a full e85 tune from RK-Tunes.. I bought a Racebox mini to measure my 0 to 60 time. My launch control starts at almost 4000, Using the switch on the left I can't drop my RPMs lower than 3000. It just stops there and won't go lower just makes a louder sound if I keep pushing down. I use MHD to load the maps and have their GTS transmission tune if that means anything. I managed a 3.71sec 0 to 60 without launch control.
Awesome car! Launch control seems a bit much, however it is what it is. I just placed an order for the M4 coupe. Can't wait for Dinan Stage 1 upgrades!
As i know to activate you also need to get throttle response to Sport Plus, which you did but you haven't said it in you explanation. However it is a little bit difficult, but not like it was in M5/M6 V10 :)
That’s one of the best launch controls I’ve seen. My car went sideways when I done it at the drag race idk why? I gots new set of pilot sport 4s and I warmed up the tires before I started but still so much spinning all the way to the 3rd gear lol i’m running stock!
mine launches like a beast with pilot sport 4s wheel spin is minimal and i do mean minimal. im getting 0-60 times in the low 4 sec range, measured in laptimer.
bmw 340xi launch control. engage sport + throttle into sport. stomp on the brake stomp on the accelerator past the kick down button. white flag comes up launch control active. let go of brake and hold on. fun
I have a question. Once the car moves forward(launvh control), do you maintain accleration fully? And do you shift manually during launch control? I always get a failure right after a launch control start
As long as u launch within 3 seconds of whacking ur foot on the acceleration pedal it should launch and automatically change gear up as u keep foot planted on the floor . Only time it will need manual change is if u accidentally knock the gear knob up once it has been pushed over to the right (or left if u in a uk car) . Pushing gear knob up activate manual mode and it’s a pain in arse
I have a moonroof instead of carbonfiber one, stock, i get 0-60 in 3.8 with launch control and onna good day i ve gotten 3.6, it has the competition package and im using 21"forged wheels from gpower.
That faster than the BMW m5 f10, it took me long enough to press the brake then hold the gear level then press the gas and adjust the rpm and then let go the gear level.
Wow, what a bitch. I guess after doing it a few time it becomes 2nd nature. But I have to tell you the launch procedure in a 991 (Porsche 911) is far simpler. Just turn off TSC, mash the brake, gas pedal, side step the brake, and you're off to an amazing qtr time. Best day of my life I was running ~10.7-10.9 seconds in the 1320 w/the factory stock 991 Turbo S (1,100 miles on the OD). My best 0-60 on the VBOX was 2.7 sec. It's like going back in time. WIth a APR tune and performance exhaust, it will most like run a best @ 10.4 sec/135 MPH 1/4 mile. Lastly, I plan on buying the BMW M4 in that smurf blue color this summer as a daily driver. I like the RS 5, but it can't compare to the power and just plain fun of the BMW M series.
Ernesto sanchez oh right that explains the coupe but this guy has a convertible like me and he's just blasted 4s to 60 and with the rears lit up. That's super fast for the heavier convertible those figures are good for the lighter coupe.
+Stephen Stern yes, I have one thats 3 weeks old now, this car has clocked 3.8 to 60, The car has 7 gears, so short ratios and 1st can be avoided second gear is like a long 1st gear really and as this car makes full torque at 2k revs it really punches hard. I haven't used launch on my car yet.
Thomas Bate - not exactly. For M4 launch control You need to be in sequential shift mode ... meaning you need to shift with the paddles or the shifter.
thank you for lowering the rpm and launching the m4 correctly! most car reviewer leave it at 4 grand and then complain about the wheel spin.
I agree lol
tbh it shouldnt even be allowed to go to 4k rpm if its going to spin like that. Its just a poor launch control system imo and i got one of these cars

I read somewhere that from 1st to 2nd it shifts automatically, then 2nd to 3rd u have to manually shift?
This is the best mid size familiy car. 12.2s for a 431hp RWD+ wheel spin is damn awesome! ///M
What a beast, this guy is first guy I have ever seen to launch this car perfectly.
Awesome I have an M4 and never knew how to do that

The F80/82 are under tired big time. With 305 or better 315 rubber at the rear it really shines.

I've purchased mine yesterday. 2016. just put 4 miles on the clock. and I'm already on to putting stage 2 on haha. going to be using syvecs ecu.
Do you have to shift the car and launch mode or does it go through the transmission on its own
Exhaust is stock? Lovely sound..
Wait, so in all cars with race start its possible to lower the race start rpms?
As i know to activate you also need to get throttle response to Sport Plus, which you did but you haven't said it in you explanation. However it is a little bit difficult, but not like it was in M5/M6 V10 :)

What’s the name of the speed data you have on top left of the screen?
bmw 340xi launch control. engage sport +
throttle into sport.
stomp on the brake
stomp on the accelerator past the kick down button.
white flag comes up launch control active.
let go of brake and hold on.
fun
have the M2 this launch control ??
Do you burnout before launching at the track??
Launch Control RPM2500 vs RPM 4000? What do you think guys? Which is better if you have drag tires
bmw themselves said 3500 is about the right rev range for launch

0-60 in 4.0? wow!!! and Convertible... it is more heavy, really impressive!!!
GT-R 0-60 in 2.7 Seconds :) (Stock)
gtr also 35k more in price and has a nissan interior lmao
Dale33333 Heavy weight may help the traction, especially for m4 :)
why the fuck must you bring up the gt-r in a bmw videos. damn gt-r fanboys
I have a moonroof instead of carbonfiber one, stock, i get 0-60 in 3.8 with launch control and onna good day i ve gotten 3.6, it has the competition package and im using 21"forged wheels from gpower.
After using launch control, you have to shift manually? Cant leave the DCT in auto mode?
Pretty sure the car shifts for you autommatically
Does shift up gears auto when in launch control or do you have to shift yourself
I want to know the same thing
Auto. You'll disable launch control if you shift manually or lift off throttle.
That faster than the BMW m5 f10, it took me long enough to press the brake then hold the gear level then press the gas and adjust the rpm and then let go the gear level.
do you need to change gears yourself even though you have selected sequential flappy mode?
car shifts automatically
You had it on efficiency mode and then on sports+ at the drag. Any difference?
Can you please help me how to set up the temperature, time, gas miles at 00:10
Go to settings > instrument cluster > uncheck digital speedometer
that truck though
You notice a difference if the throttle response is in sport plus vs efficient?
The throttle response is very different from efficient and sport +. I prefer to leave it in sport, sport + is too touchy for me
though the pick up truck was long gone...it took almost a 1/4 to catch up...
other guy started headstart?
👁
Can you use launch control with dsc on?
nope
THank god for gtr easy launch
German Engineering at it's best :D the other car had a much better start !
Car is extremely fast for 425 hp
It is also pretty light weight
yep, roof, trunk and drive shaft all made of carbon fibre
Shane Earley unless you get the sunroof option
because it doesnt have 425 hp, it has a lot moe power than bmw states to the crank. The m4 performs like 500 hp car.
It’s also on a drag strip with perfect conditions for launching if you know what your doing, not getting 4.0 on a greasy street in November lol
2nd gear @20mph, 3rd gear @60 , 4th gear @85
The more I hear it the more I like it. Not better then the s65 sound but still not horrible
Kr3wXv and who asked you
...and by the time you do all this you look up and see taillights and the race is over. 😉
I have a 2016 f80. I'm too scared to use launch control. Lol
For some reason even a really fast car doesn't look or sound that fast when its on a proper drag strip
What about on a stick shift? 😂
Why so complicated?!
Haha..I see people on here saying why so difficult. You have to be a fuckin nasa engineer to launch my e63 M6 😂.
Ja ne znam bas dobro engleski moram nauciti pozz

Is this stock??
junior hooligan yeah.
That's some serious figures for a stock m4 convertible I've got one and I thought it was about 4.4s to 60mph. That was done in 4s flat!!!
junior hooligan yeah, stock is at 3.8 seconds 0-60. I've done it in 4.1. I'm trying to get in the 3 second range. I have the m4 coupe

when using launch control, how does it short-shift first? does it change gear automatically. I dont have to use pedals?
Stephen Stern 0-60 in 4 seconds is pretty impressive considering this is the heavier convertible not the coupe.

fast but sound like fart of can
Takes too long. Should just be pulling back both paddles at the same time.
