In this video, Karen gives step by step instruction on how to use Separation Enamel for a marbleized look. She cuts cabochon shapes from Cyprus™ Copper Clay and lets them dry using a drying form. Once the clay is fired, she enamels on the cabochon, using both Thompson Enamels and Separation Enamel to create a gemstone look. - Навчання та стиль
Thank you Karen you have taught me so much. Your my go to for metal clay and your super creative. I like all the cool tools videos but you really are a good teacher and upload such a variety. Have a blessed day!!
You are too sweet, we will relay this message to Karen 😃
Very impressed
They look like Petoskey stones! Pretty cool.
Thank you for shering is so beautiful.
Hey Karen, have you done a video on the bracelet shown. If not, I would be keen to see the process of incorporating the elements you made with the Separation Enamel and the bracelet. Love the videos, you have a very natural, friendly style. Thanks!
Just tried this today with good results
That's great to hear! Thank you for watching!
Only changes I made were to use 18guage copper and I used lavender oil for the separation paste
I've pinned this video and watched it a few times now. After watching it again this am, I went in my studio and played and got some stunning results. Thank you for making it so simple! Is the basic "recipe" light /white coat, dark/black coat, transparent and then paint on separation enamel? My problem is that with so much enamel, my pre-punched holes keep filling in because of having to cook it so long. I try to tilt the pieces away from the hole, but alas, still it happens. Anyway, thanks. I will be using my separation enamel quite a bit, I think!
Now did you put a clear flux on top of the black and fire before doing the separation process, Thanks for this method.
Hi Tom, no, I did not apply a coat of flux before using the separation enamel. Once the black was fired on I went straight to applying the separation enamel. Thanks for asking!
For the Squeegee Oil, what do you clean your brush with?
Hi Mike, Karen uses dish soap and water to clean the brush. The sooner the better, as it can ruin your brush if it's stuck on for too long. Thanks for watching the video!
How long and at what temp do you fire?
Hi Dianne, Separation Enamel fires at 1450°-1550°F for 2-5 minutes. Thanks for watching!
what is the liquid that you are spraying before applying enamel?
Hi Nikola, this is Klyr Fire. You can find this here: www.cooltools.us/Klyr-Fire-2-oz-with-Mist-Spray-Bottle-p/enl-001.5.htm
Thanks for watching!
Hy Karen how long you fired piece thanks
Hi Andreja, separation enamel fires at 1450°-1550°F for 2-5 minutes. It can also be torch fired. Hope this helps!
Would it be a stretch to do the separation enamel on copper and then torch fire?
Hi Keely, separation enamel can be fired. Copper metal clay however cannot be, so you'd want to make sure to either used copper clay that has been fired in a kiln, or sheet copper. Thanks for watching!
@@cooltoolsvideos awesome! I want to use copper Sheet metal!! Thanks!
Where is your dust mask?
