Thanks Valeria! I hope you have fun with this process. It is a true work horse and opens doors to techniques like cloisonne and plique a jour.

You're videos are great! What is the best way to get a matte finish on enamel?

Thank you! I haven't tried this, but have heard using glass etching cream will create an even matte surface. What I've done personally is use diamond grit sponges or my JoolTool with the extra fine diamond sanding disc to make a matte finish.

Thank you! I believe you were using transparent enamels. Can you blend in a similar manner with opaques?

ideas.! I used both in the videos. You can see through transparent enamels. You cannot see through opaque. You can blend both. My recommendation is to experiment to discover what works best for you 💕

Hi. Great video. I would like to see how you use them. What are the threads and enamel chips used foe?

    • @10Gables

Thanks! I haven't done a video yet on threads (a.k.a. whiskers) or interesting effects with lump enamel. Sounds like I might need to make one soon!
Threads can be fired on a pre-enameled surface to create interesting line art. Using a torch is an easy way to watch the process and decide when to stop applying heat. You can break them up smaller, too, for smaller lines and elements of a design. Lump can work similarly. What most artists use lump for, however, is a starting point for grinding their own enamels with a mortar and pestle. This allows greater control over grain size and cleanliness of the enamel. It also can extend the shelf life.

Chris Cravens I thought it might be to add texture. I would a video. I really want to get into Enamelling and there are so many to choose from. I prefer UK suppliers.

I know I am a newbie, but why wouldn't you use a little or fine paint brush to put the enamel onto the pieces? What would happen if you did?

Welcome to the world of enameling! You can use all sorts of tools to apply enamels oncludong small brushes. Try Googlimg 'wet pack enamel painting' for many videos, books, and classes to learn more. Hope this helps and that you have fun learning more. 😊
