The 1920s then Twiggy from the 60s and then heroine chic from the 90s. I really do see humanity's cyclical history. Very cool video. Thank you.
And this is why I like Vintage Reproduction because women of all shapes and sizes should be able to enjoy the vintage aesthetic without being made to feel left out if a piece of authentic vintage from the 50s doesn't fit us. Unique Vintage and ModCloth (while they are expensive) create vintage-style clothes for all shapes and sizes
I agree those stores are great
Over the years, many years, I have noticed that women are more critical of other women. I have learned that being health is more important than looking like everyone else. We need to be individuals rather than sheep.
I definitely agree with you
I'm surprised that tanning in the West has remained so popular since the 20s. I wonder if that will ever stop.
Hey Laura, I think this is your best video to date. You are exactly right in pointing out that beauty standards are set by "others" rather than ourselves! Thanks for the insightful video!
Your videos are so interesting! Thank you, Laura :)
You are so welcome!
When I was young in the 70s 80s thin lips was in. Everyone wanted to look like Christie Brinkley and Cheryl Teigs. I was made fun of for my large lips. Now people are so used to seen big pouty lips, they think my lips are small.
I wish thin lips were back in 😂. Great comment wc
The whole lip trends by decade would be an interesting video
Yup I got made fun of for my lips and having a butt befor jlo and bbl was a thing. Still get crap that I had work done now it made when I say my mom and dad do great work 🤣
@@sentarrasilva5995 You mean Selena- Jennifer didn't want a big butt until she played her.
That is why I have huge respect for the youtuber Laura Lee because she is happy with her body and doesn't feel nor want any plastic surgery excluding her lip filler & botox which those two things are extremely minimal and acceptable in my opinion.. She likes her body being natural and she has had people in her influencer world try to convince her to get a bbl or even a book job but Laura wants none of that because that isn't for her.
There are as many KINDS of beauty as there are women.
Embrace your uniqueness!
Definitely
This is a great video idea 💡 I ♥ your bedroom BTW. 👏
Thanks so much
Great video it's interesting to see how our body types have changed over the years❤
Thanks for watching
I like the David Kibbe and Carol Tuttle styles that acknowledge individual differences in body types and fashion styles, and which doesn't try to make everyone adhere to what's popular at the moment, which you've shown is constantly evolving. It's impossible for women to try to mold themselves to an idealized image according to someone's fashion dictates of the moment. I enjoyed your presentation, and you did an excellent job!
I agree thanks for watching
I love a deep dive into the extremes women's trends have gone through since the Gibson Girl to now. I've been watching Bernadette Banner and others talk about the misconceptions about corsets and hearing it called dangerous or damaging I immediately thought of that. I actually own a 1940s corset I collected and having tried a waist trainer and Spanx it's about choice more than it used to be for women, but the unrealistic looks by influencers mostly using filters is a bit toxic. I'm personally avoiding the return of the low rise jean and hoping it doesn't last long, they don't seem to fit anyone but the thinnest. I love that we can wear anything from any era style these days. That 1930s Hollywood look is still incredible. So much fun to find favorite styles from different decades and trends.
My mom hated my glasses and tried to force me to wear high heel. I threw those shoes away. She would say, are you sure you need glasses? Only if I want to see mom.
Low rise jeans are awful I’m definitely never wearing them
I have the GENETIC let me repeat that... GENETICS To wear those.... doesn't mean I like them or find em comfy. I know some ppl say oh ur so lucky...but girl I'd kill for the " curves" ( boobs) I had after my babies. Grass is always greener😏🫶
Hello this is LaTonya love your videos
Yay! Thank you!
This was so interesting, thank you! Do you have any videos describing Victorian, Edwardian, or Pioneer fashion?
Thanks for watching, no but I have been thinking about doing different fashion decades
One of the best videos I've ever seen. Thank you so much!
Wow, thank you!
Your kind of missing the obesity problem. More people are overweight then thin .from 49 year old woman who struggled with anorexia from 23 to now. Obese people influenced me to be thin
I’m a Marilyn Monroe , Jackie O classic soft , glamour era is my fav .
It baffles me that any Kardashian/ Jenner can represent a beauty standard to anyone.
Amazing video but the audio from the background and the and the video clips was a bit distracting.
I mean... Our bodies should not be messed with PERIOD! Especially in politics
Agreed!
Love this video
Excellent! Fantastic finish. Women need to hear this!
Thanks for watching until the end
I always think curvy voluminous women are the prettiest.
this was such an interesting video
We should take care of ourselves
Are you using a filter or has the machine you showed us for face tightening been working?
Yes I have been using it. I like it so far. Did you get one?
Thank you for your videos! Ive been binging you! ❤🎉❤🎉❤ great stuff! How about the plastic surgery era?! 🤔 🤗
Love your dress & it looks so good on you Laura Jane 🍒's or little red flowers? Very Cute ♦️ I love the 20's fashion ladies had started playing tennis & golf & exercise helped them look healthy & slim which looked great in 20's fashion. Whatever anyone says...ladies dress to attract gentlemen...the Kardashian pigs are not attractive overstated repulsive mess...men are more aware of visual than ladies ~ ladies like gentleman's physiques balanced looking good in fashion bathing suits but are much attracted to their eyes ~ gentlemen as the very basic creature are attracted by more primal ~ its inherent ~ shapley figures with small waists shapely legs well endowed bustline are just primal ~ human nature ~ fashion throughout time will always read better on a curvy but modestly curvy form ~ the 70's exposed more skin than ever ~ hip hugger jeans low riding bustier tops only look good on leaner ladies but ample chest & shapely legs ~ androgynous does not attract gentlemen ~ booty stuff is gross ~ fashion should fall over the female form gentley not stretched to oblivion ~ current body trend with entire breast area revealed is not attractive nor alluring not even sexy ~ exposes everything leaving no mystery ~ the last awards show red carpet stars look pitiful with dresses fully open at chest area ~ not feminine ~ sad looking ~ "Hey showing everything I have" Stupid You didn't come here for a physical idiot ‼️Modesty is often more sexy if original goods are of quality ~ otherwise go to. nudist colony cause you are sure not doing fashion any benefits ~ Thank You Laura Jane 🍿Sunday Matineé ⚜️with Laura Jane The Best. 👗
Thanks so much lovely
I like to be thin and strong
Here is another idea for you Laura. Skin color. I had super dark hair and very pale skin. I can wear the lightest foundations. My niece looks like that and is teased. They call her Wednesday Adam's. I was told by a doctor as a kid, go get some sun. We are Italian but still burn. We cannot lay out. It makes us sick.. Coco Chanel popularized the sun tan. At least dark skinned individuals are accepted now. I let myself go grey. I get called the snow queen. I do not mind that. I have pale skin with grey hair. I use bright makeup hence the name snow queen.
Wednesday was and still is my favorite Addams, the pale shamers suck but you rock.
I was also called Wednesday on a daily basis in jr high and high school back in the 90's, but I am that still that Goth Girl to this day.
