Talked to Rob at Toppers a couple weeks ago about this watch. He was so excited about this release! I bought my first mechancial watch (a Longines Record) with them this past summer. HIghly recommend them. They are easy to work with and they carry tons of brands.
That’s a stunning model. So much better with bezel teeth not coated black. These Oris divers really are the most photogenic watches I’ve seen. I have no complaints with the Sellita in my 42mm diver 65. A workhorse movement that’ll be easy to maintain/service in years to come and you’d probably get good numbers and zero beat error compared with similar priced Seiko movements.
Have a 12 year old Oris Williams F1 and it’s never been serviced. Runs +3 a day. It is an eta movement but has been pretty good. Love this new model. Love visiting Topper when tones were normal, awesome place!
One of the brands that I've thought about but never bought. After seeing your videos and how much you like them combined with the fact that they donate to many good programs, I may just pull the trigger on 1 of these . It would be a fum peice kn the Tropic.
Great Review, Bruce. I think you capture the watch well. I like the faux rivets personally. Getting about plus 10 on most of my Oris with this movement.
Got #78 and I love it. Definitely a daily wear tool watch that looks sharp. Love the domed sapphire crystal and the strap is very comfortable to wear, even over a long use.
Love Topper Jewelers. Bought an Oris Aquis last year and it's my best watch. I noticed my Aquis is about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes fast after wearing it everyday for a month. Yes, it's very unscientific, but it's been very consistent after owning it for over a year now.
I love that watch, just got the Oris/Fratello Big Crown colab. Red face in bronze case with ss solid back It id s 300 watch limited edition. Love it. Let me know if you then Rob want to review it. FWIW I've used Topper great tp deal with got my Sapphire Sandwich from them, they gave me a great deal. Oh I forgot Merry Christmas to you and your family.
This version is really well done. I like the black and white colorway with the touch of orange on the seconds hand and lume pip. I own the original 40mm black dial Divers 65 on the tropic strap and love it. As far as Accuracy, my 5 year old Divers 65 runs +11spd and my new Aquis (with the SW200-1) runs +5spd.
I really like the look of this LE, Toppers really has an eye for detail. I don't understand why they kept the rivet bracelet though. I understand the nod to history but some people absolutely hate it while others, like us, just don't mind it. I don't anyone who is actively looking for or is excited by a rivet bracelet on a modern watch. Thank you for another great review Bruce.
I hope we see more of the 3/6/9/12 version of this watch. It seems like most of the original versions have been discontinued in favor of the newer ones with round applied indices, which are kind of....bland IMO. It would be cool to see more color options using this style of the D65 dial.
I really like the Divers 65 Maxi Topper Edition. I preordered mine and it came in last week. Overall, I am happy with it. Although for the money, I would like to have seen a tIghter tolerances for accuracy or perhaps a COSC certified movement, and an upgraded bracelet with quick release.
Think it’s a great edition of the 65 maybe the best and Bruce I love that you always touch on the bezel as it’s one of my pet peeves . But when you turn the bezel next to the “ dynamic “ microphone give us a few seconds of no commentary as I’m trying to hear !!! . Thanks buddy . This channel remains on fire 🔥
Mine arrived last week. Liking the retro but not fake style. The bubbled saphire crystal gives the watch a lot of personality. The taper on the bands is more than I prefer though.
Great video Bruce! Merry Christmas🎅🤶🎄 and a Happy New Year to you and your family! 😀🎉 My biggest critic (besides the abysmal tolerance) is the aluminum bezel... Which at this price is once more.. Abysmal...
I bought a Pro Pilot Big crown last year used. It looks to be well cared for, but too many problems: accuracy is poor, losing about 15 sec a day, crown doesn't work well, can't hand-wind it, and date difficult to change with the crown. I wonder if other people have so much trouble with an Oris.
I'm a huge supporter of a date feature on a watch, but this no date version is so much better with these "65" divers. Also, my Oris Clean Ocean runs at approx. 10+ seconds a day
Hey Bruce, I love the reviews you make and I think we have similar taste when it comes to watches. Huge Seiko fan but have 2 great divers already the Seiko Transocean with a black dial and the SKX007 so right now I'm in between choosing the captain willard Prospex and the hamilton intra-matic auto chronograph.. There's also a voice in the back of my head telling me to avoid both and go for a new Heuer 02 carrera Classic. What would you do in this situation. Thanks
@@tikibob3339 I know you live vicariously through this virtual world of ours, but I'm looking at it as we speak on my wrist, and it's not fauxtina like Omega or Panerai use. It's not brown, it's a brighter yellow /green.
@@DrRolexPhD lol I’ve owned the 65 and I guarantee you that when Oris picked the color they choose it based on vintage watches, hence fauxtina, and not a “brighter yellow” chosen out of design aesthetic. The 65 is a retro inspired watch is it not? Anyway, enjoy the 65, was a nice watch when I had it.
I got a divers 65 brand new in bracelet for $1200. Yeah, it’s +9sec, but I ain’t complaining for the price point. Also, the one that I got with the 12,3,6,9 retro numerals is now discontinued!
Nice watch...but I agree on the regulation or lack thereof. My Auqis runs a few sec fast...but I just received my skeleton Skyraider II from Zelos and this very established low beat Unitas movement, 18000 bph, is dead zero sec/day. Not sure if this was deliberate, but it's definitely better than Seiko NH35's! BTW..the SRII is absolutely amazing!
I own the original so I'm looking at it now, and 2 main things are better on the Topper model: the red-tip seconds hand, and the unpainted (or un-dlc coated or whatever they use) bezel.
Agreed. The Diver 65 is a phenomenal looking model, this one especially. But they use generic Sellita movements and I just can't fathom spending that much money when I could get a Christopher Ward C65, which is essentially the same watch, for 1/3 the cost. It also sounds like they jacked up the price even more to "throw in" the rubber strap and to also donate some money.
My Divers 65 ran at +9.5. I hated that watch. It just felt cheap, crap lume, weak bracelet, and even the plasticky feeling bezel. And this is basically just a no-date without the fauxtina and better lume, so I'm wondering how in the world someone thinks $2k+ is okay for this. Definitely love the dial design but overall, the package felt like a Swiss Seiko.
I can only speak from my personal experience. If you look at the specs (100m WR, Sellita, aluminum insert, etc.) it is definitely not a value pick. But to me a watch is more than the sum of its' specs. I think some well spec-ed micros are wholly unenticing. Or some overvalued watches like the Submariner make lovely daily wear watches. Sometimes the specs and value prop come in alignment like the Seamaster. Every watch is different, and the 'worth it' feel is entirely subjective. For me the 65 is a great package with no value punch
I remember lusting after this no date style 65 a few years ago. I think it looks so cool. It goes against my "no retro" policy but who cares. Although I will say and admit that I flip every retro watch I buy. Shame on me! --Michael
Beautiful watch, but, not different enough to tempt me at that price; my '65 is fine and, personally, I like the "faux" tinted indices as they lend a certain warmth to the dial.
Big Crown +4 Aquis +2/3 Diver 65 -2 I have been chuffed to bits with the performance on all of my Oris watches. It (at least not for me) hasn’t been anything close to a crap shoot with how it runs. It’s absolutely not Seiko... SKX +20, Presage -15, King Turtle +3 now that’s a freaking crap shoot. Oddly my old Orient Ray II has run +1 since the moment i put it on.
They did have one in 2016 or something. Being also LE model, they are not around anymore. Oris really could use a no date version of the 65 in their regular catalogue. Sure the Momotaro is one but still...
The specs are a guide, not necessarily what you'll get. It costs next to nothing to regulate a watch. If you're so worried about accuracy, you'd be getting a quartz anyway, not wasting your time with any mechanical.
My Oris 65 is way better than the accuracy specs. A lot of manufacturers do that in order to give themselves an out. Honestly, I never noticed the faux rivets until I watched this video.
It's a crazy world we live in. A Seiko SBDC055,53,51 have better luminosity, better tolerances, and better bezel movement for only 6 to 7 hundred dollars same with the Omega Seamaster way better than the Rolex Submariner under $5000. Buy what you like and love but don't fall for the hype fall in love with what will be a better purchase. I love my Oris Aquis GMT but I know for the money they could have done much better.
Looks good but overpriced. Now that there are several other watches with the retro numbers, Oris should bring back the blue heritage 65 and add the new movement. My wife’s Oris runs so fast, like 20 sec a day!
Bruce love the channel, love your positivity. I just want to be honest here. This watch is the 2002 - 2005 Ford Thunderbird of thw watch world. A poorly executed vintage retro styled watch with a ridiculous price point that nobody asked for. The design tries to hard to replicate the vintage aesthetic. Just telling it like it is.
I love it! You know how I feel about my Diver 65. If I was to only keep one watch, it would be hard not to keep my Oris.
Lets get together soon man

Agree. I’ve bought a few watches from Topper. They are fantastic.
I have an Oris 65 with bronze bezel date at 6 o’clock. Love it. Getting -3 on chrono. I think they adjust it at factory

I own this Topper Edition, and the tropic strap is excellent - I wear it on the strap exclusively so far!

On my big crown pointer date im getting +4 a day. All my oris watches ive owned have been pretty tight in the accuracy department.
Really cool watch. I just picked up the non-topper Arabic numeral model, but if I could ever find the 40mm topper version I would trade in a heartbeat
Nice, the lack of fake patina makes the dial look much better, at least for me. My Aquis gets approx. +6, had it for 3 years. Nice presentation!
