- Whether you're new to digital sculpting, or you've been using ZBrush on the desktop since the 2000's, or you're an avid Nomad user on the iPad-this video is for you!
Watch me as I show you my method for creating a Fortnite Nerf gun in ZBrush on the iPad. This is done in real-time-so part 1 is about 50 minutes!
00:47 Make your plane editable by converting to a polymesh
01:18 Subdivide plane to prepare for masking and sculpting
01:29 Dial in your settings for masking
02:56 Start drawing your nerf gun onto the plane using mask painting
06:06 Turn your sketch into a 3d sculpt
06:35 Using the Clay Buildup brush flesh out your reference sculpt
18:54 Learn from my mistake - how to fix multi subtool translation with the 3d gizmo
21:25 Start blocking in your model with primitives
23:39 Use the knife brush to cut away portions of the cube
26:20 Use the insert mesh brush to add cubes for boolean
27:08 Setting up Live Boolean
41:58 An alternate method for blocking in hard surface models

Cant wait for Zmodeller to be introduced!
For realz! I'm going to reach out to my contacts on the ZBrush team and see if they can let me know if it's on the roadmap yet or not.
Interesting approach man, always enjoy watching workflows of other artists, look forward to the second part.
Glad you found it interesting! Hoping to get part 2 out today or tomorrow.
Ok. Thanks for the tips.
You bet!
I hope they add zmodeller to the Ipad version, would speed up hardsurface stuff a lot.
You and me both! For realz it would!
This is the worst way to approach modeling a nerf gun…time consuming and unnecessary sculpting
Haha, I appreciate your candor @TeachmeGin. Are you referring to the pre-sculpt on the plane or just using ZBrush in general? I agree there are much faster ways using traditional desktop 3D tools.
Thats work for Zmodeler
I totally agree, I hope Maxon adds it to ZBrush for the iPad soon!
