the bassist of this band is awesome!, arif and the bassist of a wilhelm scream, they have such different styles to play but in the same time they have the same feeling, force and spirit when performs!....awesome bassists!...
that "unique" you hear in the vocals IS what makes them awesome. It makes them THEM. There's already enough metal bands that strive for the same general sound, these guys are outside the box kicking massive ass and deserve mad respect for it.
Wow, his voice is so unique! [not the sound as much, but the way he uses/stretches the sound]. And the way he uses it... It's like, everywhere and in every pitch. It's beautiful^^ I can see why some people will have a hard time getting used to this voice.
I actually like this guy's singing style. And I must say this is my favorite musice video ever. Especially his move during "I watch a woman that I know" is cool. ^,^
I agree. Dt is an amazing band and it took me some time to like the vocals but they are nuts and my live in budoku is sick by dt. And pth was so good they created these songs while under 20 and couldn't even play them yet. So, they are very very talented musicians and rody is anamazing singer with a much wider vocal range then I could ever have.
The lyrics of this album are amazing. It tells the store of Kezia from three different perspectives (Three songs each). The music is top notch but after reading the lyrics, it just leaves a lasting impression.
Yea wtf, ONE MILLION?! Protest?! I never would have thought they would become as popular as they are. I remember watching this vid on muchmusic all those years ago and it blew my mind. Fucken awesome.
yes!!...i believe that those albums were the proginators of how we view the fast technical guitar playing we see today...of course with maiden as well....the thing i like about PTH is that thy write there stuff before they play it...so i've heard
I recommend to anyone after watching this to watch the Live version of Blindfolds Aside from their DVD Gallop Meets the Earth. It really shows where 4 years has gone in terms of how much the band has grown.
lol it so weird, my band just had a gig at the same place as theses, i just met the drummer from this band, I didnt even know who he was until he sed wot band he was in. Nice guy. Very helpful :D
The first time I heard his voice I thought it sounded whiny too, but then you listen to them for awhile and it actually fits very well, this entire band is a group of very talented musicians and they don't get near as much credit as they should in todays media, same goes for BTBAM
@DarthRoy1292 it's syncopated metal with a grind edge. Protest the Hero is by no stretch entirely a mathcore band (which has been around for a while). their main sound is progressive metal with the influence of melodic black metal.
You are the True, Dream Theater is the best band ever!. I Like it Very Much!. John Petrucci is a Monter Freak Guitar player!. But, this is the New Wave Of Metal, New Kids who play like old Band but Give us a New Sound... Sorry for MY English.. Regards from Peru!
Protest the Hero is awesome. I'm going to see them with The Human Abstract, and As I Lay Dying in February! Everyone should go pick up a copy of Kezia and/or Fortress. :)
@Milessmile Well, Mathcore is a rhythmically complex and dissonant style of metalcore. It has its roots in bands such as Converge, Botch, and the Dillinger Escape Plan. The term mathcore is suggested by analogy with math rock. Both math rock and mathcore make use of unusual time signatures. (as copied from google lol) and if you wiki list of mathcore bands protest the hero is on there along with Dillinger Escape plan and many others. Technically, they are.
"A three-track EP was released August 5 exclusively through iTunes featuring select remixes of the song "Sequoia Throne" submitted by other artists (including Devin Townsend, record producer and member of Strapping Young Lad). The track listing for the EP is as follows[2]: 1. "Sequoia Throne C0ndu1t Chupacabra Remix" 2. "Sequoia Throne L-Ion Remix" (Metal Hammer contest winner) 3. "Sequoia Throne Devin Townsend Remix" " Call that a remix album, and I call you a... C'mon!
DT doesn't just play fast. And it's not just about showing off their theoretical music knowledge. Listen to their music, it's enchanting the way they play. It's like a classical piece, like Mozart on acid. A change of seasons might be the best song ever made IMO.
I love Rody's singing, it has a certain original vibe to it. It definately changes in Fortress to a more refined tone because voices are constantly changing.
@ilovemuffins1337 and also this is the last song in the Prison Guards section (and also the end of the story, which happens 3 times in the album, once per person)
I like the vocals, this is the second Protest the Hero song ive heard and i really like them. but then again im used to high vocals, so that affects how quickly he grows on me. but good music
there are genres for a reason. every type of person likes a type of music, and if u dont fit into any of them, that means u cant really find your loyal fanbase.
perhaps that's becouse i'm obsessed on firearms =] i realy love the lee-enfield, the ones used in this clip. cheers \M/ but keep in mind...SLAYER RULES!!!
i love progressive rock and metal, bands like protest the hero, mastodon, coheed and cambria, but i also listen to behemoth as you listed, and emperor, chthonic, immortal, dark funeral, mayhem and so on. you dont have to limit yourself to one genre of music douche and from what i know about this band they are lyrical and musical geniouses. the same could be said about behemoth
I started listening to these guys yesterday and I love them!!!! I don't see how someone could dislike this!!!!
This is the first time I've ever listened to them and I LOVE THEM. These guys kick ass.
I'm from Ontario! These guys make me proud!
the bassist of this band is awesome!, arif and the bassist of a wilhelm scream, they have such different styles to play but in the same time they have the same feeling, force and spirit when performs!....awesome bassists!...
i just heard this band for the first time now and i have to say....WHERE HAVE THEY BEEN ALL MY LIFE!!! awesome shit sick solos i love it!
Yo soy de Peru tambien, de Callao. Que chevere encontrar alguien de mi pais que le gusta la misma musica.

These guys DEFINITELY went to my schooool!!!!
Whitby Rocks!
that "unique" you hear in the vocals IS what makes them awesome. It makes them THEM. There's already enough metal bands that strive for the same general sound, these guys are outside the box kicking massive ass and deserve mad respect for it.
I cant believe how amazing the bass and the singer are!
love the tapping part/solo in this song, just shows yet again how PTH knows how to create numerous great sounding riffs
Love all that energy!!!!
Aoxin, from Brazil, was a replic about them.
Such a good band.
Wow, his voice is so unique! [not the sound as much, but the way he uses/stretches the sound].
And the way he uses it...
It's like, everywhere and in every pitch. It's beautiful^^
I can see why some people will have a hard time getting used to this voice.
no one even needs to comment about how awesome this son is just listen to it it speaks for its self
the singer grows on you. i was skeptical at first but it grows on you and i love it now.

I actually like this guy's singing style. And I must say this is my favorite musice video ever. Especially his move during "I watch a woman that I know" is cool. ^,^

Yea wtf, ONE MILLION?! Protest?! I never would have thought they would become as popular as they are. I remember watching this vid on muchmusic all those years ago and it blew my mind. Fucken awesome.
rody is soo freaking young in this video! this song still gives me chills
yes!!...i believe that those albums were the proginators of how we view the fast technical guitar playing we see today...of course with maiden as well....the thing i like about PTH is that thy write there stuff before they play it...so i've heard

Dude has a great voice, hits many ranges
lol it so weird, my band just had a gig at the same place as theses, i just met the drummer from this band, I didnt even know who he was until he sed wot band he was in. Nice guy. Very helpful :D
Great song, I absolutely love the ending.
I only just discovered them today and realised that they're playing at a festival I'm going to in a couple of weeks. :D

This would fall under the category of music!

THIS SONG/BAND IS AMAZING.
Protest the hero = best Canadian metal band.
Wow nice song!!
@darylbuss ...the song is called Blindfolds Aside...
the fact that your even questioning the genre of music these guys are in..shows their progression. Moe and Tim were in my english class
i agree... i especially love the end of "bloodmeat" when they growl.
im seeing them next saturday with mis sigs. its gonna be awesome. i saw mis sigs live b4 and they blew my mind. this is gonna be fun.

You are the True, Dream Theater is the best band ever!. I Like it Very Much!. John Petrucci is a Monter Freak Guitar player!.

Let me arrange this for you.
