@@JaymesMansfield no it ain’t lol i beehive my hair we all need to have fun with our own hair while we have it! Right now there’s a big boom of 60’s & older decades in style coming back. Ps I left you a cuter comment xx from the fat spy
@@JaymesMansfield I envision her as something like Mamie Van Doren is today. And of course she loved her kids so much, she’d probably constantly be posting SVU stuff and bragging on Mariska
I really wish Jayne Mansfield got more recognition these days at least as much as Marilyn gets and I love both of them for being the icons they were. She seems like she was so fun
It’s that same thing Mae West did of “wear wigs in styles fashionable with people aged 20-50 years younger and you will DEFINITELY look younger yourself”, but at least Jayne carried it off well rather than Mae who looked like Sophie Tucker crossed with Fabio (not Fabian, obviously my metaphor is not year-appropriate as the latter was about 5 when Mae was doing that!) with her bizarre long pageboys with a 1940s-esque beehive plonked on the top. So shameless, so brilliant.
I consider you as my Professor of Pop Culture Herstory.💖 I love learning all these fascinating facts from you sharing your encyclopedic knowledge with us! (BTW I love how you and Hextian recreated that infamous Jayne Mansfield & Sophia Loren photo at 11:56.)
I'm really hoping that we get a Kim Novak, Tippi Hedren and Hayley Mills episode. In addition to Diana Doors, of course. I should have known I was gay when I was obsessed with Tippi and Kim as a teen. I was still convinced I was just curious. 😂 🖤
I’m so fascinated by Jayne. I knew most of this story but I love the way you speak about her. The older Mariska gets, the more she looks like her mother, I think!
I read recently that Sophia Loren has always & continues to refuse to autograph copies of the dinner table photo, in her words "out of respect" for Jayne. Really elegant move, I think. And yes, you NAILED the later-Jayne look, congrats!
I never clicked on a video so quickly!!! Love Jayne Mansfield!!! I enjoyed her in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? a role she originated on Broadway. She was so over the top almost like a human cartoon! Love this wig recreation Miss Jaymes!!!
Oh my goodness, I loved hearing the story of Jayne Mansfield! Hearing these histories is so lovely because you really put a human touch on it if that makes sense. Very thoughtful and empathetic. Also, I gotta say I love this hair!
I’d like to be a rose in your garden! Take me to your greenhouse baby!! And make one of these for me because i tried and messed it up. I actually LOVE all of her films and even own her leopard print hat! I love her. And thats why i purchased when i could a wig from you.
Amazing work as always Jaymes!- If anyone is interested, there's an awesome podcast on classic Hollywood called "You Must Remember This"- They have a great episode on Jayne and how she used her image as an almost comically exaggerated blonde bombshell to achieve her goals and ambitions. Totally the first blonde bombshell to take what people assumed of her, turn it on its head, and give it back to them tenfold ❤
I love your videos. You are so entertaining. Love you sharing your knowledge. I hope to see you in person on of these days. You are one of my favorite queens.
I hope one day someone puts you in touch with Mariska Hargitay and she hooks you up with something from her Mom! Maybe there's an old wig/hairpiece lying around! ;)
My friend Jeff stopped over for a shave and a cup of coffee. Like you a HUGE Jane fan so he had to watch this episode with me and loved your commentary and loved the finished style. XOXO
so cute!! Honestly so surprising how close emo girl/scene queen hairstyles are to this kind of 60s half up style, just not as rounded and smoothed out... Would love to see your take on a massive messy scene queen style with raccoon stripes and all that jazz btw!
I look forward to listening to you share and speak on women who have shaped and still carry a presence today, Jaymes. You're respectful and speak with love and admiration. And we get to see a wig that is lovely, as this one is. Ms Mansfield would be tickled pink. Beauty personified! You are an icon, Jaymes!💜
Jaymes, Rory John has YOU on his thumbnail!!! Cause you're a star on drag race again.... what's this, appearance number 4 ? 5? Plus our beloved Delia... Bertrum, an affair?
Jaymes this video has me so impressed by your intellect. You are by far one of the smartest drag queens when it comes to knowing phenomenal references about queer culture, drag culture, and art. You give us awesome facts about what happened in the past thus how we arrive at today! We truly love your videos!
Honestly I'd watch you do videos where you only talk about pop culture history. Or listen to a podcast. You're down to earth and very engaging. Lovely as always.
Love this hair and the info on Jayne. Always love watching your videos. I recently saw the car that was in the fatal crash that killed Jayne online on Facebook. And it sent me down a rabbit hole. I ended up hearing a recorded conversation between the current owner of the death car(who had it on display in Hollywood until the pandemic hit. Now it’s in storage.)and the girlfriend of the driver of the death car who perished as well that fateful night. It was very interesting because she was pregnant with this man’s baby at the time of the accident and her father owned the Super Club Jayne had performed at the night of her death. Apparently She wrote a book talking about their lives and her experiences post the driver’s death and clears up a lot of misinformation about this man who drove the death car. It was fascinating!
Hey Jaymes. Wonderful as always. Just wondering if you still want the Jayne Mansfield fan club newsletter I'd like to send to you. I'm guessing that you might already have this. Love U. Jeffxo
Was so good to see you back in the Werk room James! Not to mention predicting the next girl to sashay away… hope this indicates an all stars season in the near future??
This would make such a cool series if you talked about stars and there hairdos while you duplicate or add a James M modification to it because you really give great insight and also it would be cool for the children to get some culture about older styles and Hollywood stars from the past they all have interesting lives it could be a hit plus a complete nod to everything trending in those years hit songs cars thAt were being driven imagine if you did a Mae West and talk about her that would be epic 🌹👍👌🏽
Hey Jaymes! You’ve had me hooked on these since your Raquel Welch hard front wig style, which I shared with my boss and coworkers who also loved it! Being a “disgruntled Olive Garden patron” is one of our favorite phrases & inside jokes now! I love the pink leopard print apron/dress! It matches my hot pink nails! Where did you get it? I LOVE anything leopard print! The bizarre artistry of this updo is VERY unique.
I get so happy every time I see there’s a new video from your channel! No matter what mood I’m in, i know by the end of the video, it will alway be tenfolds better. Love your work!
OMG you make it look so easy..you inspired me to buy a wig head and some tools to try it out..and ughh what an ugly mess I made lolol Love you gurl xoxo
My mom reminds me so much of Jayne. But I had no idea Mae West tried to sue her for boyfriend theft. That's amazing. I'd love to see her home. If I was rich and famous that's exactly what I'd do to my home. The gaudier better.
Have you/ could you pls release a shirt that is that cheetah print apron? Like you know those tacky shirts with the bikini bodies on them? Like that but it’s Jaymes in her ICONIC cheetah print apron/dress/I’m not sure? Please I want it so bad. With big curves and like a short dress length. Pls. I beg. I would buy it so hard and fast. I’ll design it for you if you need.
Great wig recreation and the Herstory is awesome. Based on the background I'm thinking you're still in Palm Springs. My question is what character are you in the Trixie Mattel Motel Show?
Love how closed captioning makes you James Mantle, Kelly Mantle's little sister.
I wish we were related, imagine that family reunion
Hey queen. Girl, you have done it again, constantly raising the bar for us all. And doing it flawlessly
Thank you, I was a bit nervous of the outcome cause the hair is so bizarre.
