I was at a signing years ago for Amanda's book Doll Parts and she was SO sweet. She even kissed my book!! She was like "spray it with a little bit of hairspray and it won't smudge" LOL
I ran in the same circle as Amanda in the early/mid 90s (ie. club kids) and I can say she was one of the friendliest people I had ever met. She definitely had the mystique even back then.
Her book was incredible! Some of it you have to take with a pinch of salt because Amanda is *known* for embellishing things, which fuels the rumours and attention surrounding her - she’s a marketing genius 😂💕 Amanda is a fucking icon 👏🏻✨ EDIT: just as an extra, in her book when she talks about doing sex work, I was on the train to work reading it. I choked on my coffee laughing 😂 One guy had a kink about “the time”. What time is it? Do you have the time? Oh no you’re going to be late sir! 😂 the entire time she’s just sitting there, fully clothed, filing her nails or whatever while he listens to her talk about the time. Genius 😂🙌🏻💕
I remember going to a Halloween party with my friends where Amanda was dressed as a French maid. I recorded everyone dancing and said "Amanda!" and she turned, brushed my screen with her duster, and blew a kiss, so incredible 😭
Iconic Blondes and Brunettes is helping me work on the internalized misogyny from my childhood. I totally internalized the messages from adults around me that I shouldn't like to wear sexy clothes, I should minimize liking "girly" things, I should be somehow "better" than party girls, I should focus more on academics than social connections, I shouldn't spend too much time or effort on my appearance, I shouldn't date people who enjoy those things in others, the list goes on. Now at age 32, I'm really enjoying learning more about women's herstory from a glam icons perspective. There's a power to it that I don't think my mother ever understood. Thank you so much for the lessons, the representation, and the entertainment!
You did a beautiful job! Amanda really is the kindest person there is; I met her for the first time after seeing her perform in Providence, a month later I was in New York City for the first time and a friend who knows her made me go talk to her (I was shy). She remembered me, asked if I wanted her phone number, and the next day I was hanging out with her all afternoon in her apartment. She put me totally at ease and treated me as if I had always been a beloved friend. Everyone I know who meets her becomes enamoured of her. I haven’t seen her in person in a couple of years (hope to change that soon) but she occupies a special place in my heart. She is an angel on earth and we don’t deserve her! ❤️✨
I LOVE your Iconic Blondes series!! I love how you talk about these stars both past and present. Amanda Lepore is a celebrity in her own right, and always the life of the party.
Sent my husband a birthday Cameo from Amanda, and let me tell you Amanda delivered, my husband was incredibly surprised! Great Iconic look! Thank you Jaymes...
Yes👏👏👏. Iconic blondes is your one woman show Jaymes. Take it on the road and add iconic blonde skits and confessionals. Maybe we’ll get moments from Suzanne Somers, Teresa Ganzel, and Lonnie Andersen.
My first sighting of Amanda was during her Jessica Rabbit era when she had engine red hair and short blunt bangs and she was a vision of perfection I saw her on a reportage on her on a Spanish magazine called Primera Linea and they referred to her as the scandalous and outrageous soul of New York's nightlife and I loved her ever since! This was on a time when huge injected lips and extreme surgeries were NOT a thing and she literally looked like Jessica Rabbit came to life out of a cartoon, not even all the club kids with their eccentricities casted the smallest shadow standing next to her she simply commanded all the attention. She was a living Bratz doll 10 years before they were even created!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention her collaborative relationship with David La Chapelle. I read somewhere that she was born in South America. She definitely has tremendous mystique. I follow her on Instagram and she always credits the people who do her hair. Love your content as always. ❤🥰😘
I met Amanda 💋at a Club performance, and after she signed my book. She was so unbelievably gorgeous and glamorous and so sweet. I’ve been ✨obsessed ✨with her for years ! SUPER STAR ⭐️
Since you are doing different hair colors I would love to see a bjork wig She has some crazy stuff like the one from the homogenic cover or the Biophilia album cover LOVE YOU!
Congratulations on all of your hard work and success Jaymes! You captivated me on your season despite your, ahem, short tenure, and have continued to do so since then.
You should definitely do Barbara Streisand for Iconic blondes. She's not a platinum blonde but she's still as iconic. Also Heather Chandler from the movie/musical Heathers is iconic and she has a signature hairstyle in the movie
Oh my God! FINALLY! Thank you so much for taking this look on! Might you ever be able to do a video on how toppers are created? There's nothing out here in UA-cam land on them!
Hwy darling doll, can we get Jean Harlow, Madonna, Mariah, Carole Lombard, Greta Garbo, Grace Kelly, Cate Blanchett, Marlene Dietrich. I know is a lot to ask but I love to see you talking about the legends even when I know these things already.
Ok I hung out with Amanda in the 90s in NYC She was a very sweet simple girl. Loved her. We hung out at lucky cheng's. Or her hotel room at hotel 17. Not limelight. That was her work. Working for Michael alig. She hated the limelight. Fyi. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ She was born in new jersey. I could tell you alot more BUT I never spill tea on people. That's all you get. Ok edit. Her hair in the 90s was done by perfidia at pat fields. Ok that's really it. Lol🤣

I know some NYC expats who say the same thing. She's just the kindest, sweetest person.
This is absolutely amazing

Well how old are you then exactly, as your profile picture is a late 20s early 30s twink and your subscribed to gamers and Lego builders
I absolutely love Iconic Blondes.

Ps. Not kink shaming 😂🤦🏼♀️ I was laughing at how it’s SO Amanda to not even need to do a damn thing except look pretty and talk about the time 😂💕
I remember going to a Halloween party with my friends where Amanda was dressed as a French maid. I recorded everyone dancing and said "Amanda!" and she turned, brushed my screen with her duster, and blew a kiss, so incredible 😭

if you haven't done angelyne I'd love to see you recreate one of her looks, too! 💕
I love Amanda Lepore! She made a doll with Integrity Toys that smelled like her "perfumed"

Stunning 💕
I’m Yasssss Queening up a Storm!!!! BRILLIANT
I think my first introduction to Amanda was all of the posters and press of her as one of the SAW nurses for their blood drive.
I would love a Madonna one
With her late 80s curls
Could you do Hedwig for this series?? I’ve always wanted to figure out how to get those big massive curls that frame her face!
The ultimate icon
Very Amanda but also when you see the cartoon introduction to the Anna Nicole Show.. this wig looks exactly like that drawn version. WOW>
Please do Brigitte Bardot in that kind of loose half up/half down look she did in the 60s....so gorgeous!!!
I share her content all the time. Ugh love her. 🖤🌺
I love all but this is my favourite 💞💞
Oh my God! FINALLY! Thank you so much for taking this look on! Might you ever be able to do a video on how toppers are created? There's nothing out here in UA-cam land on them!

The most iconic blonde of the present day is Momma Jaymes 💋
I kept waiting for you to do Amanda Lepore!!
Hello Jaymes and Ernie

She was a very sweet simple girl.
