Wont work that well even in airsoft gun. Reflex red dot sights like this use lens to keep dot on target, even if your viewing angle chances. In this there is only cd case plastic that is not optically suitable/sanded, or bent for that. So no it wont work on anything that requires accuracy when shooting. For prop or decoration this works well.

This is nice for cosplay, but the point of a Reflex sight is that the reticle visible through the lens is positioned as if it were infinitely far away. That's what makes them useful. The dot in this appears 3 inches in front of the lens. That's not even as far as the end of the barrel. You'll never get any sort of accuracy with a setup like this.

Los militares: bueno acabamos de gastar 1 millon de dolares en miras reflex para los soldados este tipo: hago una mira reflex con un CD viejo The military: well we just spent 1 million dollars on reflex sights for the soldiers this guy: I do a reflex sight with an old CD
That's awesome, I wonder how hard it would be to make it into an actual reflex dot sight, ie, keeping the dot on the same point of aim regardless of alignment.
Wont be too easy. But I never even get that paralax talk, because you align line of sight with the gun anyway :p who wants to shoot while aiming from a 30° angle?
Selfmade it makes target acquisition easier, but you also have no reference for where your sight alignment has to be if your dot moves. That's pretty significant when you're shooting anything further than across the room.
Short of wiggling it around before the glue dries, you'd have to make it thinner and make a bracket that could be adjusted by turning a vertical and horizontal screw, or turning and tilting the whole thing when you mount it. As for mounting, I could see putting one of these on a home made gun, so I'd drill holes in the actual gun or make a frame that clamps them together. I'd make the thing out of metal instead of plastic though ...
looks great man! im really gonna try this! do you have some tips for sighting it in? i thought maybe take some test shots without the LED first, and then mark the impact of the bb on the front. then drill the whole where the LED comes. dont know if thats gonna work, need to be real lucky i think xD

That's awesome. I'd totally throw that on a .22 for laughs. Nice video, but you should get a vice or something so you don't have to hold stuff while you drill it. Safety first.
problem with these sights is that you have to keep your eye centered with the entire rifle, or your dot wont line up on your target properly and you'll miss. A marking in the glass/plastic to show where the center is would be nice.
There's a reason why red dot sights evolved into reflex sight, where the red dot always stays centered with the gun so you don't have to. You can't be 100% sure that your red dot is aiming where you think it's aiming if you're in a bad situation, your heart is pounding and adrenaline is surging through your body. A good reflex sight will ALWAYS stay true, even if your alignment with the gun can't. Red dot works on a firing range, not in real life situations.

How would u engineer the x-axis of the laser to reflect of the glass?? What would your calculations be for every CM "screw" turn is .______ of rotation is = to .______ MM fixed panel distance. Before you run out of unoccupied area with in the housing. I guess first off let's solve for the complete circumference of the space n which u have to occupy. Then we can get started on the y-axis and beam angles and placement and the right degree of curvature for the lens.. But hey Im down man.. ill head to home depot and pick up sum wood screws or maybe drywall screws.. yes definitely drywall screws..cuz who ever n there right mind would use fully threaded machined set screws.. I'm so dumb.. I guess I'll just let you keep engineering and designing the products.. Damn all that college, money and time wasted... idk how I was ever hired to engineer, evaluate dedeuce and design for firearms and firearm intrest companies.. I guess explain to me how it works so I can improve.. plz??
That's cool and stuff but you missed a step that makes your sight work like reflex sights- the lens should either be curved (parallaxed) in a specific way. Check out schematics of real sights. It does make a difference. Peace Upd: as mentioned by LaserGadets bellow, the lens should be shaped in a specific way
Yeah, thats a habit...specially when I mark something with a pen, I throw it or drop it, hurry and cut something off or drill a hole at the marked spot, and then I cant find that stupid pen :
Heya, thanks for the tutorial. One question, whats the led size you are using? 3mm, 5mm, 10mm? Also, why blue? Can it be red or green? Which color is best for use in a game? Thanks!
Had blue laying around. Size doesnt matter, the hole is 1mm or 2...but the bigger the LED the brighter, so 3 or 5 mm. Green is the best wave for the human eye, brightest color of them all.
I've got this McGuyver thing in my head now. I'm gonna use this design, but bend sheet metal for the frame and use a dollar store pair of reading glasses for the lense. I was thinking of using a plastic revolver cap gun, and just make a wooden copy of the cylinder drilled for .22" short. Then a small pipe can be glued into the Barrell of the cap gun, and I can scratch out rifling with a file. Then I'd have the jankiest thing on the planet, but it'd be a semi auto pistol with a reflex sight for under $10.

I guess explain to me how it works so I can improve.. plz??
Can someone pls Help me! I Wonder where i can get a LED light! Pls answer fast!! And btw you are the best dude!
Ebay, amazon, or any online shop :p
great idea! I'll do one myself, but I'll change materials. anyway thanks for sharing your approach and the tutorial
No problemo. Use aluminum sheet to make it more durable.
I believe the LED can be seen from the front of the sight, revealing your position
xD sometimes I really dont even know what to say.
That's cool and stuff but you missed a step that makes your sight work like reflex sights- the lens should either be curved (parallaxed) in a specific way. Check out schematics of real sights. It does make a difference. Peace
Upd: as mentioned by LaserGadets bellow, the lens should be shaped in a specific way
Ah so parallax works only horizontally. NO. You need a lens shaped glass....not CURVED. Maybe you read your own papers before giving advice.
@@LaserGadgets indeed, my bad, wrong term
That was awesome but is it accurate enough?? Or the dot movr with your eye sight??
+p.a.s008 Its simple and easy to make. For a real one, you need optics. They are collimated.
+Selfmade thanx I'll make it for may air gun thanx for reply
I mean it was a really good video but everytime you got done with a piece and dropped it was hilarious
Yeah, thats a habit...specially when I mark something with a pen, I throw it or drop it, hurry and cut something off or drill a hole at the marked spot, and then I cant find that stupid pen :
It looks really great dude, good job on that, but... Does it work? For actually aiming and stuff... I'm temper on making this for my airsoft gun :P
Probably weigh less than my tactical 1 x 4.5 scope. ............. How is it adjustable for windage and elevation ?
finally YT reccomends me something awesome
: >
What does he use to hold the battery and make the light shine?
is it possible to make the sight a bit smaller, like can the first part be 9cm instead of 12? anyways greetings from croatia its really cool
+Scraften Yeah sure. All you have to put inside is the battery, and its small. I just wanted it to look like a real sight, so I made it a bit bigger.
how tall is the first tempelate?
i found it out, 8 cm
Did you actually drilled your finger?
Heya, thanks for the tutorial. One question, whats the led size you are using? 3mm, 5mm, 10mm? Also, why blue? Can it be red or green? Which color is best for use in a game? Thanks!
Had blue laying around. Size doesnt matter, the hole is 1mm or 2...but the bigger the LED the brighter, so 3 or 5 mm. Green is the best wave for the human eye, brightest color of them all.
+Selfmade thankss!!
I might make another one, with green and red.
Im interested so dot in center is a reflaction on glass/plastic.
Very nice...which footprint MOS do you used? Ahahahaha!
I would just like to say that this is cool but if the glass it’s reflecting off of isn’t curved to make the parallax thingy it won’t actually aim
Its made from a fucking CD -.- you are just expecting too much. Your fault...clearly. Its not even clickbait, people like you are just a bit weird.
+Selfmade Sorry if it is a dumb question. Have you just connected the LED with the battery? No resistors?
+Giovanne Bressam Already answered IN the video. Blue LED needs 3.2 to 3.4, battery has 3V....so no resistor.
Selfmade
Oups. Sorry if i don't get it, my english disappoints me sometimes =p
Thanks for answering! I discovered your channel yesterday, and i have already saw all your videos haha They are all amazing!
+Giovanne Bressam Sometimes you have to watch them twice to really understand and get everything ^^ happens to the best. And thanks, more to come soon.
How durable is it though? CD cases are known to be the most brittle material known to man.
Finally something for school
I keep missing my shots
Is it art attack that gave you idea of already preparing the finish one
what is the material for the actual sight piece you glued in last? how does it reflect and not show anything go through?
ANY clear plastic will do.
