- I made a sight scope that can be mounted on the 20mm rail. Dynamic reticle is realized with the attitude detection unit.
(The English translation may be wrong. Please go easy on me.)
I used Arduino for the base board.
The main unit was made with a 3D printer.
This video is a remastered version of a previous video.
I edited the cuts and combined the three videos into one.
All of the videos have been changed to English subtitles.

ANYCUBIC : Photon S 3D printer
ELEGOO : Grey water washable resin for 3D printer
HiLetgo : Arduino Nano V3.0 ATmega328P CH340G 5V (Compatible)
N/B : MPU-6050 3-axis gyroscope
N/B : Rechargeable 9V battery
I don't plan to offer a 3D model for durability and after support reasons.
All the firearms in the show are airsoft guns. We take great care to ensure the safety of our surroundings when shooting.
You could add a laser range finder to the sight so that it can automatically adjust the correction radius for the reticle based upon the distance to the target.
Thank you for your comment!
For airsoft, I would like to measure up to about 60 meters, but those parts are still expensive. I'll take the challenge when they're less expensive.
Airsoft ballistics seem to be quite complicated to calculate because they hop and then fall. But that's why it's so interesting.
Thank you!
@@Kousaku_Japan Well, if a LRF is not an option you can have a conveniently positioned switch (or lever), that allows you to manually alter between a preset number of ranges instead (a sort of holographic version of some of the iron sights with range zeroing abilities, like the AKM for example).
@@Kek.B.I yeah a button to change different ranges would be sweet. Calibration would be a pain tho..
@@Kousaku_Japan I think 30m is good enough for Airsoft. Especially with 1J laws in Japan.
In the US, for outdoor games, we use 400 FPS with .20g BB, which is ~1.5J. Most of the fields in Southern California have very long sightlines, so there is benefit for a rangefinder system, but then again, it's just a game in the end.
But I think I enjoyed playing more in Japan because it hurts less with 1J, so you can try more risky tactics.
@@nikkoptI guess, but you only need to do it once.
A compass/bearing display would be cool too. Maybe a button to cycle between modes?
thats a really good idea, because the comment section has so many great ideas but you cant put all of them on such a small sight
RFID ammo counts would be cool. Since mags have a standard capacity, you could read an ID, know whether it has been fired and count shots on a per-mag basis.
Sounds inspired by Halo haha
@@Penguin-1966 you could put N or NW for north or northwest or SE for southeast in a corner of the sight. Also for the range, you should totally get a laser range finder and dial it in with that tilt compensation in your sight! Your build is so cool!
How bout making it so it doesn’t break easily first, like drop it a few times at least. that’s what differentiates a good sight from a great sight.
This is incredible.
As an American, a shooting enthusiast, and a gun collector, this ticks a lot of aesthetic boxes for me.
Honestly, if you decided to sell these, even if they weren't incredibly practical or durable, they would still sell not only to folk who think it's cool, but also to the cosplay market too.
I can't tell you how many cosplayers would love to have a working HUD on a sight for their cosplay weapon.
For their cosplay reasons...
@@TheKitMurkit lol
Yeah I agree although it would be so sick if he did make his sights super durable for actual guns, they would sell like hot cakes
i think airsofters would be buying them up too
@@goldexperiencerequiem1085 gelsoft too
Make it able to count ammo in the magazine and display it besides the reticle, that would be interesting but not sure how hard it would be
Thanks for your comment. The remaining bullet count display function is interesting.
I started planning for the next version. I want to create a cool sight by incorporating various opinions. If you like, subscribe to the channel and watch it regularly. Thank you!
@@Kousaku_Japan Perhaps a light sensor in front of the barrel / integrated into a suppressor could count your bullets!
That would sell incredibly well here in the U.S.
Edit: an accelerometer can count the shocks associated with firing
@@JohnDoe-rx3vn Well there's this tachyonelectronics.com/ it's a ammo counter. I'm sure he can incorporate that into his design. Remove the counter & implement it's function into the sight using the sensor.
@@Kousaku_Japan make it a circle around the reticle that shrinks as you shoot to minimize cluttering the screen?
Well, that electronic correction of parallax really blew my mind, didn't expect that. Great work, love it!
Thanks for your comment. Sorry for my late reply.
There are still many improvements in practical use, but it was fun to operate it.
New versions are under development. First of all, the small version. I also want to make a multifunctional version with a rangefinder added after that. I hope you will wait patiently.
Thank you!
This has nothing to do with parallax free. Put the sight fix on a table and point on a target. Now move the camera. If the Point stays on the target, it is parallax free.
you should sell this to american, they'll love it
Thanks for looking!
I don't think it's possible that no one has ever thought of this before.
So I'm sure there must be some practical problems with it, like the OLEDs not being able to display properly when they get wet.
I'll think about commercializing it when it's a bit more durable.
@@Kousaku_Japan It's been existed in the form of aircraft HUD. Just recently components price have been dropped enough for this to exist
great work btw
...there is hi chance someone will just steal it.
combine it with a programmable ballistics computer and make a useable interface
you could sell a basic version for like $1200 if it's not a piece of crap in terms of durability
bonus points if you make a magnifier option for it
Huge market is developing for "smart" optics like this, especially with a built-in rangefinder and better calculated impact points.
A built in ranger finder would be a huge improvement in shot speed
Now imagine of you put it inside a long range scope and the ballistic computer even shows you the trajectory of your bullet on your display (the newest ones are already advaced as heck but I don't know if they can do that)
If someone can make the body out of milled steel and someone else can come up with an intuitive software solution to interacting with the optic’s parameters, you have a pretty good product on your hands
Steel? Nah. Aluminium, sure. 7075 is as tough as untreated mild steel. I work in R&D in the defense industry and could help you out with milling if you want @工作ジャパン Kousaku Japan
Wouldnt steel be too heavy for an optic?
@@duodotI am looking into starting my own optics brand, could you mill me some frames for red dots??!?!
*"If it doesn't exist, i have to make it"* is the new *"Fine, I'll do it myself"* for me.
you could also add a reticle tuning trough software ... rendering circle lower or uppre, more left or right ;-)
Thank you for your comment. It's a reticle adjustment function! I couldn't do it because I didn't have the technology to insert a physical button. Certainly adjustment function is necessary! I would like to include the next work.
Thank you.
If you are ready, maybe send it to some american gun channels like "Demolition Ranch" , "Jerry Michulek" or "T Rex Arms" for promotion
(And maybe a bullet counter with an accellerometer that detects recoil)
Thank you for your comment!
This sight has shrunk a bit because I couldn't get past its weakness of being difficult to use in bright light.
My current push is this one.
ua-cam.com/video/qnoximEMF68/v-deo.html
It's not practical, but I think it has impact. What do you think?
This is a very cool idea but you may find that it is better applied to other uses than as an optical sight for the following reason:
Parallax.
If you cannot set the parallax of the OLED screen out to 100M then the user cannot both, focus the sight, and the target together. One will be out of focus.
Most reflex optics are set to ~100M/Yds. Some are set even closer (for pistol use).
The advantage of a true Holosight is that the hologram is actually parallax free and remains perfectly in focus when you concentrate on the target at any distance. The reticle in a Holosight will remain the same size no matter where you put the sight on the rifle. The 1MOA dot in the center of a real Eotech is actually ~.33 MOA and even under a 3X magnifier will appear to be 1MOA to the human eye.
There are other design considerations to keep in mind when making a miniature aiming system.
Keep up the good work!
This is incredible and has so much potential even for real steel applications
The channel master is a very, very gentlemanly man.
He's also very skilled and amazing. This is the kind of channel that should grow.
This has such a Ghost Recon vibe. Love it
Edit, if there was ever a Ghost Recon VR game, i hope this would be a feature
This is crazy! Just the mere idea of gyroscopic red dot sight is already mind-blowing! 🔥⚡
Don't be sorry for the long video, I was hooked the whole time! You came up with something really cool!

amazing im kinda lost for words...these are perfect..once they are structurally sound they may just be the worlds number 1 airsoft sight
Please keep me up to date if you ever do plan on selling these. I would love to see an optic with the sight of my choice. It's a small cosmetic thing, but i think it would be amazing
never did i think i needed something like this, but dear lord i want it so badly.
Think of a calibration of some sort, either digital or screws to adjust POI. Nice work
Thanks for your comment. Certainly there was no adjustment mechanism. I will try to implement it in the next version. Thank you very much!
I think the adjustment could be done with software. Use a couple buttons for up/down etc..
my respect just went over 1000 when I saw this.
Awesome job! Keep it up, i think it would be better if instead of 'working...' was the range of the target or some type of information about Time/Direction. Looking forward to see more!
Thank you for your comment. I hope you like it.
Yes, I should have put something more practical there.
I couldn't implement it elsewhere, so I'm cheating.
It seems to be very fun if you show the distance, compass, number of bullets remaining.

Now I’m developing a smaller size one. I will upload the video when it is completed!
I think this is awesome! But also one thing that was totally forgotten or more likely not even known by Mr. "I have to make it" is that even the commercial optical sights are not accurate out-of-the-box. They still need to be sighted in on the range for the range you intend to shoot them at. Yes there was a drop at the target range...just like with real firearms, just a bit closer with airsoft. Real sights have windage and elevation adjustments to sight in for the rifle and ammo you are using. The fact that you not only managed to get it to work but to also hit the paper target with your first shot is incredible. I hope you have continued to work on this.
maybe make the battery housing below the sight and built-in mounting to rail?

honestly this is the best project and presintation i have ever seen.
I was going through the settings on CoD warzone and insurgency for aiming down the sights and they said it follows a s-curve. You said we should use a circular curve too instead of a linear one. Can you please expand on this ? Amazing video, I tried making a RDS using an old CD case from a video on youtube ofcourse. I had little success but I can say that we have come far. If you can hold the zero on this sight (which some professional weapon sights cannot and got into controversy lol) then you have really created a master piece.

This is super cool!. How is it on daylight? I think you could make it much more bright if you use an LCD screen and put a powerfull led behind.
Thanks for your comment!
In fact, visibility in strong sunlight is not good. Shade improves a little, but it's not perfect.
I'm using an organic EL display now. Brightness is fully open. As you pointed out, I also tried increasing the LCD backlight.
Then the black area became brighter and the contrast dropped. It may be improved by using a stronger DLP laser. I will do my best in my research.
Thank you for your advice!
Even if you sold these as kits to be assembled by the buyer, as long as you did the coding portion, I'd be in. Holy cow, this is EPIC.

Man, that resin takes paint so well.
Okay, but like if you mass produced it and made it out of metal, you could make a HUGE profit
Hell, I'd buy one!
Unfortunately it's a lot more complicated than that.
As a general rule, when you put airsoft accessories on actual guns they break down really quick. All the electronics in every part has to be braced to absorb the force of the constant recoil. It's much more complicated than just making the body out of metal.
@@KappaKiller108 Get the company going with an airsoft only version, while researching for real steel. I'd buy one for my airsoft G3. When the real steel came out, I'd buy one for my Oracle.

Old video, but if you can get a long distance laser meter and hook that up so it outputs the measured distance of the meter's pointer on the OLED display, you'll have a sight scope that instantly tells the user how far their target is. This makes this even more practical.

We are currently developing a more compact model.
Hello! Thanks for this project! I've planned to do the same things as well and you are totally the creator I would like to meet for making this project. I'm actually starting to build my own full custom airsoft gun with many electronic components incorporated into. The sight scope is one of them. I'm actually in Japan (Tokyo) and I can't finish everything for now but this part is a part where I got many trouble to think how to do.
On my project, I plan to add telemetry, WiFi control, camera integration, sight scope like yours, bb loader intelligent (counting bbs inside the loader) and some other parts I probably forgot. Actually, I'm working on the core (the electronic inside the airsoft gun) and the rest will be done later but with what you did, I am happy to see that can be possible to make one like yours.

Beautifully done. Ichiban!
A thermal sensor (for ex 8x8 pixel), connected to arduino, when it senses temperature of the body the sight color can change, (you have target enchancer sight from call of duty) :)
Thanks for your comment.
That's a great idea!
I was investigating the thermal sensor. However, I was only thinking about displaying images in the shape of a person. Arduino may not have enough processing power to realize this.
It may be possible about change the color of the reticle. This is a great idea.
Now I'm developing something smaller and less than 4 inches long. I want to complete this once, but I will develop a multifunctional site in the future. At that time, I definitely want to install a thermal sensor.
Thank you!
On a scope you could display distances on the screen, and a button to toggle between yards (the dot would adjust location based upon target distance)
You're pretty good at crafting, it's really nice. As said before, you could sell this, just imagine the options : BB's ammo counter ( with addition of a captor ) distance display ( coupled with another device ), custom sights/color... I hope you can profit from this, talent is allways rewarded

actually due to the hop up, if you tilt your gun, the BB will curve in the direction of the tilt and drop down. This is because the backspin applied by the hop up, which is used to create lift and counteract gravity, is not entirely vertical.
Thank you for your comment!
That's right. So in this video, I experimented with a very narrow and short range before the hop starts.
I'd really like to add a range finder function to calculate the hop and fall points according to the distance.
In that case, I guess it would fly more diagonally than I expected. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it.

This gave me an idea: Make a sight using an FLIR sensor in the front and this OLED display in the back, displaying both the FLIR image and the reticle. Boom, thermal sight.
for practical purposes most experienced shooters prefer 1 moa red dots because its a lot easier to hit more accurately and quickly compared to the eo tech recticle where it can block a target
Many people will love this kind of gimmick accessories, you should try to sell them 😘😘😘
Hey, really great video. I loved that it used many differents tinkering skills ( 3d printing, electronics, math, etc...). The only downside is I would have loved more tests in the end (more with the camera through lens, without first-person view camera so you can focus on good aiming, without a scope at all. So we can have more data to compare
Thanks for your comment. I'm sorry for my late reply. I was happy that you liked it.
There was a restriction that I couldn't shoot a lot at the shooting location. Noise and safety aspects, so the number of tests wasn't enough.
Now that I'm making a smaller one, I think this live-fire test will shoot more. Thank you!
You are relieved you can make it? The rest of the internet is amazed you can make it and make it work!
And do not feel sorry about the length of your video. I like it 😎
I’d recommend adding an ammo counter, you can get ammo counters that attach to 20mm rails for airsoft. You could link the counter and the sight together
I cannot wait to see further iterations that include more features of this airsoft gun sight. It has a very cyberpunk feel to it and would go excellent with cyberpunk cosplay.
Incredible work man, you have some serious talent.
Wow, this is amazing, and still has a lot of potential.
If you add a way to manually adjust the reticle to have the correct zero and save it, then you could also have a way to change zeroing on the fly (for example from 30 meters, to 50, and so on).
If you have that, and also somehow manage to interface with a rangefinder, you would get a gun that always points exactly where your reticle aims (Not accounting for wind, but i doubt that is fixable)
It would be literally last gen military tech.
Thanks for your comment! is that so! I just want to do what you said.
At that time, there was no rangefinder for medium distances, but it seems that 50m rangefinders are on the market.
The current model doesn't even have a physical button, so I'd like to gradually add features.

Next time I'm planning to make a video that is not a figure!
Bro this is crazy. Amazing job. Keep up the incredible work.
I believe the small Arduino you used has a linear regulator. You are likely losing half (or more) of your battery power as heat. A switching regulator should improve the battery life a lot.
Thanks for sharing your excellent project.
This is so cool! The moving circle for tilt angle takes it to the next level. I'm trying to do a similar thing as this to make a heads up display in a snowboarding helmet. I'm struggling to learn how to program the display haha. I'll get there.
Really awesome project! I have a suggestion: Could you position the horizontal and vertical lines around the reticle to move with the reticle so the reticle is never obstructed by the lines? Maybe also add some smoothing to the gyro inputs so the reticle is not so jittery (but still accurate for airsoft purposes) ?
I would love to see a follow up !!
Thank you for your comment!
I think I can change the reticle. I'm just a little worried about the speed of the drawing.
The reticle behavior is with a significant amount of drift correction.
I wonder if I can make it any smoother. I think the dot spacing is going to be a problem now.
The more comments I get, the more I want to try different things. It's motivation for me.
Thank you!
Impressed by the result, definitely would buy it. I would suggest you to build those plastic parts out of metal with lost-wax method in order to enhance the durability, and perhaps shrink the overall size a little so more things could be mounted in front of the lens such as a lens protector or another scope. I hope you could actually make a fortune from your design, you deserve it.
Super cool. You may be able to sight it by adding an X axis screw (side to side) on the OLED and a Y axis screw (front to back) on the actual glass (or vice versa). What an awesome project.
Thank you for your comment!
I think this is a great idea. The current prototype does not have the ability to adjust zero-in, but the only way I could think of to add it would be to move the front of the unit.
Certainly, moving the OLED would make this possible. Thanks for the great idea. And thanks for the positive feedback on the project!

A big part of me wants to test your prototype on one of my rifles. I'm really curious to see how it will handle the shock of a real firearm. Super cool stuff man!
This is honestly really cool.
Just a recommendation, something that I think would be cool at least. A better housing would look a lot cooler, something that 1) encases the OLED screen, and 2) and a more "rugged" looking outer casing (think EoTech). Also, using better (and smaller) batteries than the 9V you were already using. Most holographic or projected dot optics use CR123 batteries, because they're small, light and usually have a fairly long battery life. And with the smaller form factor battery, you can pretty easily incorporate it into the design, while also keeping a sleeker outward appearance.
got here after the Valk cam video, awesome work, you could probably contact the people from DevTac with this idea :D they also started doing airsoft equipment
I’m by no means an expert, but I have years of experience with optics, reflex sights, and firearms. So here is my input, laser range finder, that displays where the shot will land, but do not move the reticle, instead show where the POI is relating to the reticle. This involves some fairly high-level mathematics to accomplish and a decent amount of computing power. It can be done though. Ammunition counter would be nice, and mil dots would be nice. Personally when it comes to reticles, I like a more simple reticle, but a complex reticle like the tremor 6 is really nice. For the ammunition counter this can be done in a few ways, a sensor in the bolt of a real firearm, that detects substantial movement. However for air soft I would actually use a visual sensor that uses light at the end of the barrel. Kinda like the ones use for tracer BB’s. I don’t know enough about airsoft to say anything there though.
Somethig like this for actual use could be very cool, adapting sensors to display stuff, even just a round counter would be very cool
this is awesome! If you could somehow add a compass reading at the top and someway to zero it on the fly (lidar or sonar) this would have incredible changes to firearms. ATN is really the only company I know of doing e-sight stuff. The hard part is getting this to be fast boot and reliable enough for large recoil. You probably could sell a lot of this! ATN has some cool ideas that I wish others would try to figure out.
What if: You were to add a RFID tag to every mag, then the gun could count the number of bb's left in each mag making the whole setup even more functional! Basically, assign a unique number to each mag with the RFID tag, add a RFID reader on the gun and use some memory management to know how much bb's each mag has.
Thank you for your comment!
Oh... you are a genius.
I'm working on the remaining number display function now. But I had to zero out the mag that were removed.
RFID is inexpensive, and it's a dream come true.
I have no idea how to connect the reader-writer to the Arduino. I'll see if I can find a better way. It's going to be a long time before I can make it happen.
It was very stimulating. That's a great idea. You'll have to give me some more advice!
Thank you!
@@Kousaku_Japan I think I should add on to that, instead of attaching the amount of bb's per mag to the RFID reader it should be stored on the RFID tag, that allows for usability between different guns instead of having the magazine tied to a single gun. And on that note, it would be preferable if the information stored is readable by everyone, so I think the information could be stored as plaintext or otherwise too. Best of luck to you!
edit: fixed some grammar mistakes
@@Kousaku_Japan I think you can buy sticker tags for less than 100 yen each in aliexpress that were intended for clothes and cards, but then the reader would be the expensive one
Maybe try mounting a sort of optic cover on the sight, which covers the sight from front to back, and seals all the components from rain and dirt. Kind of like an Aimpoint sight, but shaped to fit the frame of this optic. There might be more bulk to the optic, but it should be a non-issue when aiming with both eyes open.
Thank you for your comment!
Sorry for the late reply.
I've actually tried to make a cover before.
However, due to my design sense, it turned out to be very uncool.
I'm going to have a look at Aimpoint's products and learn from them.
Thank you!
@@Kousaku_JapanApologies for the EXTREMELY late reply…
I wouldn’t know if the optic cover was ‘uncool’ before, but in the context of a military setting, function *always* precedes form. I’d personally rather have an optic that looked uncool, but worked reliably than a cool-looking optic that stopped working because it wasn’t sealed properly.
Besides, what I find cool about the optic is how it *works,* not just how it *looks.* The cover may make the optic housing look less cool, but what makes the optic interesting in the first place is still intact, meaning you get a more reliable piece of hardware that functions the same as it does now.
