Bought one of these cheap sights for an AK thinking it wouldn't last two mags but have been pleasantly surprised how durable, accurate it's been. Almost 3 years with no issues. It's a 7.62x39 rifle that I shoot twice a month.
@@algon26if the reticle is on target you will hit it. Save your money & get a higher quality sight. Mine has worked great but I bought two more & had to return them because the reticle could not be seen in bright daylight. Its a gamble with cheap optics.
If you're wondering about the purpose of the small allen wrench.. Well, if you look on the right side of the sight 1:42, you'll find a small hole. Once you have the red dot zeroed in, you will insert the smaller allen wrench into the hole and engage a hex head set-screw.. You then snug the screw, and this will lock the zero in.. If you don't do this step, you can actually grab hold of the rear of the sight and move it from side to side on the base.. It will spring back into place, but it isn't locked.
@@eddiecrow9133 First, the screw is small and out of sight inside the housing.. All I did was get the sight zeroed and tightened the screw down gently.. If you over tighten the screw it will begin to push the sight the oppisit way...Bad! Just tighten it down gentally till you feel it hit. You'll feel it when it hits, and that's all it takes. If you don't do this, the sight can be pushed from side to side on the base..
@Marino No, the large tool is used for the base screws, and the windage and elevation adjust.. The tiny allen wrench is for adjusting a small set screw inside the sight in order to lock the sight in place on the base. If you loosened the set screw before zeroing in your sight.. After zeroing you will need to insert the small wrench into the hole on the right side of the housing, and lightly tighten it until you feel a slight resistance. Otherwise the sight can be moved on the base, even though there is spring resistance, the set screw should be loosened to zero, then tightened after zero.
@@eddiecrow9133 It's really deep inside the base, and it takes very little pressure to set.. You want to loosen it a bit before you zero, then after zero, you will snug it up.. I have the same one branded "PINTY" and I've been playing airsoft with it for the last 6 months with no issues whatsoever. It is solid metal, light, bright, with very low parallax, and the battery lasts *very* long. Accidentally I left it on, and after 4 days it was still bright enough. You will *need* to get a plexi glass shield if you play airsoft, to protect it from BBs. UPDATE: It miraculously works fine with a magnifier behind it, even without a picatinny riser.
I use mine on a Smith and Wesson 15-22. (22LR) Run and Gun. About 2000 rounds and it still holds zero. Best $28 bucks on a very fun assessory. if it would last a month, it's still worth it.
Had several of these, hit or miss on quality. For every 3 or 4 I've had, only one holds zero on regular ar15. Constantly exchange untill I get one that holds zero or does not fall apart on gun when shooting. Finally just got sick of messing with them. Great pellet or BB gun sight.
Good unboxing and observation review. I have a couple of these but moved on to the hooded sights due to my color vision or lack of it. Even green was washing out my aim point i0n bright daylight and the hood helps a lot. However, I experienced a disappointment with my early purchases with those larger hooded sights as they required 3 lr41 or lr44 batteries and seemed to deplete the batteries quite fast. Recently I bought a couple of sights on Amazon that resemble the Sig Romeo 5 that use the single 2032 battery and are under the $30 mark. These seem to fit the bill for me and come with high and low mounts.
I have this on a dpms panther ar15. it has held its zero for thousands of rounds. Only issue I had was the glass came off when I first used it. Glued it in and it's solid now.

It's well made and rebranded by many. The price varies wildly depending on who's brand is on it. But I like it, although there is quite a bit of parallax. However, if you diligent and consistently returning to the same POA, it's a nice and inexpensive option.
