7 Lessons From 7 Failed Online Businesses (And Making 7 Figures)
Вставка

- How I failed at every business model imaginable, turned it around, and saw success as a one-person business. I went on to hit 6 figures in multiple different domains. These are the 7 business (and life) lessons I learned along the way.
By the way, I know money and flexing "big figures" can be uncomfortable to some - to clarify, because people always ask - I don't make 7 figures a year (yet ;)). I've made over 7 figures in my lifetime as a one-person business.

Which online business should I start
How to make 6 figures online
How do I earn a real income online
And everybody even my girlfriend got fed up with ME and thought I’d never settle for one thing because I wanted to try everything! Well, after going through trial and error in fields that I gave up on, little do they know I’ve been picking up skills like bread crumbs as I progressed. I appreciate the eye opener Dan. I didn’t realize how much experience I actually have until now.
You should read a book called 'the one thing '
This is a great insight. Thank you for sharing
I'm so glag I watched this video today. I'm hooked on your content and I've recently discovered your channel and watched a few other videos of yours. This one seems to be an abbreviation of your story's beginnings. Thank you
failiure are the stepping stones that get you to success after all
Blessings man 🙌 you’ll be great
Wow I relate to this so much. All my life since my teens I’ve tried and failed to build businesses. I never took the conventional route and people would look down on me for trying so many things and never following through with anything. I recently dropped out of college after 3 years and the first thing people would ask me is if I regretted going to college and “wasting” so much time and money. They’re always confused when I tell them I have no regrets at all and am happy I went for those 3 years. I was going to college for film and realized eventually that I don’t want to work in the film industry. However I learned so many valuable skills like advanced editing which I was able to do freelance for a bit last summer. I want to start a UA-cam channel so that will be useful for that as well. I’m taking a year off this year and in that time I’ve started two businesses which I’ve failed at over and over but one of them is starting to make me some money now. People have always told me to focus on one thing and stop starting so many different projects and businesses. I’m happy now that I never stopped and this video gives me even more reason to keep going. I’m only 21 and can’t wait to see what my future holds. :)
I subbed! Looking forward to your journey!
Your story is so similar to mine it's crazy, except.. I went in the wrong direction for 17 years. No matter your age, history, or impediments, every day is a chance to turn it all around. If you want a more valuable life, make yourself more valuable. You aren't stuck. Thanks Dan.
I like your channel because you just cut right to the chase with the exact info that I need and resonate with. Really glad I found your channel. Keep it up.
That's exactly what I'm doing connecting all the dots, dedicate time to things that recharge my energy, use YT as my social proof when learning and iterating daily on topics like finances, tech, business. Keep up the good work man
Dude everytime I watch your videos it gives me a dose of motivation. Thanks so much!
Your videos have truly helped me to learn a lot about myself. Thanks for your work Dan 🙏
Thanks Dan, love your videos. After listening to this one I find myself somewhere half way this journey. Now bumbin into my personal blockages, that precede success in business.
Can totally resonate with your story (not the success part haha... Yet). I always questioned everything and did the opposite to what everyone was doing. I even have an e-commerce business with a product making some money since 2017, but I don't have a passion for it and I let it go (self sabotage). Looking for something else at the moment.
I tried so many things in my life (different jobs and businesses ideas) and I still haven't found IT yet!
The worst thing is that no one understands you and my wife gave up on me having a successful business and tells me to move on with my job.
Your story gives me a hope that one day I'll succeed as well.
Cheers!
This is so cool. Dan, I’m currently walking your footsteps and it’s really assuring… I did literally everything you did. From taking money from my dad to start my business to creating a lead gen system then needing a job to fund it…. Wow!
9:20 great recommendation of the Power of Now. That’s the book I’ve read more than any other book in my life. I’m still relistening to the audiobook now just to keep remembering and realizing all its wisdom. Thanks for the reminder!
Really appreciate this, in a time of huge flux and change personally. I’ve definitely sampled plenty of different aspects of life and still working out what I want to do when I grow up. 🤷♀️ I see that it’s all actually been a building experience now though, and no wasted experiments along the way…
this is sooper helpul @Dan koe, I am going throught this process in life , like exploring things and connecting the dots
This video had so much insane value. Thank you
Just an FYI, so glad Justin Brooke shouted you out because I am def a new fan. Great stuff. Thanks so much for the transparency and the gold nuggets.
You are a legend in the making.
Thank you so much for your transparency
Dan, big thanks for sharing your ups and downs and it truly shows the road to success is all about curiosity. You have to have it otherwise you will never find the thing that works for you. Cheers mate! Mad inspirational!
When I was a teenage, one of the things I loved to do is to dig out lesser known post-punk/no wave/new wave bands. These genres of music were not so popular in China, I could really use the English skills I got in school (finally, not for exams but for my passion) to search in the ocean of English content. Similarly with digging out other things, films, books, designs, artworks, I just love searching, learning and connecting the dots. As a medical doctor, I never thought this trait would have anything to do with my future career, until now the passion landed on digital creation. Thanks for sharing:)
dude, these videos are just amazing. My comment is just another praise comment on the internet, but I do mean it. Never saw this type of almost mentorship content with quality, for free on youtube. and I dont mean, you can mentor privately, but this vid is already mentorship worthy. thats awesome
When I was in college and then at university I just went with the flow, completely didn't think about the time that was just passing and I would waste so much time... I wish I had such attitude and awareness as yours at that time. Now I am a 38-year dude, doing IT contracting, but without running any real business. For the last few years I have been only dreaming about it, but hasn't got down to actually working on it. High time for doing it for real and hopefully persisting in overcoming all the failures on the way :)
Soo incredible valuable video! Thank you for this video!
Man, hearing your path is so valuable. I have such diverse experiences and all were worth it even if they felt like failures or I abandoned them at the time. I love your perspective Dan…and your hedgehog ad made me smile. It takes a flexible mind to have a hedgie…love mine but most people only see sharp quills.😮🦔 They don’t know if you’re chill the quills reward you.
Wonderful video for me, in the throes of failure. Thank You, Dan.
I love the advise of give. When people dont see that ur just interested in something. Everything is more genuine
You talk about the Power of Now (which is an amazing book). I’m focused on the power of a strong father figure. Such an inspiring story. Thank you!!
love your work!
Hey man, me again, really enjoying the content more and more.
I find a lot of similarity. Thank you for sharing ❣
Thank you for sharing. Your stories are fun to listen to. Connecting the dots and wanting to share. Tonights objective The power of now.
Thank you so much for putting out this video. I guess i kinda totally relate with the intro section. Your content is really amazing. I wish you channel grow to million subscribers in future, but i guess you won't be able to reply to my comments down here😅. All the very best Dan. Wishing you lots of success.
Thanks for sharing, valuable lessons here.
thank you for this video i related to a lot of things, it helped me out a lot :)
This was amazing!
Loved watching this.❤️🤗
I got started later than you but I went through the same thing. I tried Web Dev, Dropshipping, Graphic Design, Marketing Agency, Courses, Publishing, Coaching, UA-cam Automation, and now I just have a job as a marketer using the skills I learned. I'm starting to build a new audience though and going to the next phase to sell digital products. Really trying to do something I enjoy, otherwise I won't put in 100%
I always wish I had started sooner, but then I realize most people don't start at all
Sharing your roadbumps along the way is much appreciated.
Thanks to share, we are in the same path 👊
Great insights. I was wondering what you did to resolve the issue of going to court vs paying the fine. Must have been really stressful as a teen.
Man, I can relate to this journey 🙋♂️💯
Hello Dan! I just found your channel a week ago and I feel like I am understanding more about my own motions and disire/values in my life. I feel like I am tired all the time even trough I feel like I am on the right path with what I chose to do now in college, wich is getting my BA in Communication. I am an older student (29) and in my second year.
I feel a little bit like you did going to college, it moves me a little away from having to work right now. I do appriciate what is being thought, but I find it not narrow enough to see my future. In the weekdays I sometimes have trouble getting trough my classes and projects, because it feels to chaotic and all over the place.
The same with people. I do not know how to share my value, what I really want to try as a job. I am currently prioratizing time for myself, my health and quality time with my boyfriend.
Would you have any tips or advice for someone who is ready to have a calmer life?
I do want to settle on something in the Communication field, so I will have a focus and can build an audience, or at least a name of a person that does .....
Seems like the lesson here is dont give up, most of your ideas seem like they would of worked if you didnt quit
thanks for the lessons
Loved hearing your story Dan, I've battled with the shiny object syndrome.
I really relate to this.
Thanks for what you do
Thank you for watching brother!
Aayy nice to see you here Abdussalam!
Thanks bro! ❤️
That's an awesome story. You da man
Great video ✌️
I love your background music. Is it in creative common or free to use?
I want to watch your videos again cause they're so dense but it's hard to tell them apart just by thumbnail, I usually tell them apart by how your hair length changes lmao
First! Hey Dan, good morning. I read this in your newsletter, but let me watch this
Good morning my man
You are awesome. 😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
same bruh the fear of the 9 to 5 was a big motivator for me
Okay Dan, great video per usual but what happened with you court case? I don’t think you’ve ever explained that in other videos. Just the reference to the book the power of now.
1:30 Can relate to that!
9:22 Matt OGUS! OLDschool OG and ma man Ecktard Tolle!
Its good advice to pick a thing a stick with it.
But I see a couple of related things I am interested in...that I am mastering over a long period of time.

Thanks for share

God sent for real!
Waiting for more videos on focus
I love you so much bro
I am still learning how to package a product so people will buy it
I'm curious how you decided something was a failure, and when to cut losses vs double down and work harder ? I'm curious with youtube especially and when stalled growth means time to move on vs. when to devote more time to it.
I wonder if he had given it more time, if it would have been worthwhile
Try the same thing 2 to 3 times with different methods if none work and you feel it’s not for you try something else you can always go back 🤷🏽♂️ just don’t do it the same way if you didn’t get any results that’s insanity😅
I have been failing for 30 years. Now I see that I have just been learning. Unfortunately, I am still not sure what I want to do when I grow up.
MUSIC
Does anyone knows the name of the music playing in the background?
Dan I'd love to hear your take on whether going to college equates to a successful life or can someone just keep on improving their skillsets and make a success out of those skills. I'm passionate about starting an online business which is risky and getting a degree is safe, but I'm not really in the mood or passionate about going to college.
It's not necessary in the slightest if you have the drive, time, and consistency to make online biz work. Even if you "fail" and have to get a job, most modern skills that you would use to build your business can get you a job without a degree
Skills are recessions proof brotha 💪🏻 choose a industry you’re passionate about, look at your current skills, and find a service business that incorporates those, and gives you more more to learn about everyday. You’ll end up far ahead of your peers if you do it consistently everyday. You don’t have to push 12 hours a day, just stay consistent man.
@@NolanGrout Well said brotha
@@DanKoeTalks thanks for the insight Dan and @naGROOT
Please tell us what attracted you to the book called "The power of now" - by Eckhardt Tolle. Thank you.
I still don't understand the business you started just after doing freelance web design. What exactly do you mean by a "funnel" for service businesses? I just don't understand what you were offering. Thanks.
Dan yoir a good friend
I still want to know how you resolved that ticket??? That would be interesting, I feel I was left hanging from a cliff lol
Feels like I’m starting over every fucking days.
I feel this lol
No way they were gonna give you a felony for just smoking a joint man.
This is sorta a bummer. Hear me out. I watch movies and see families and kids happy, I never head that. I hear ppl like you who figured out something when you were young, not me. Do you know, you probably don't and can't relate but maybe someone here does and can relate. I feel like I'm smart enough to know that I'm too dumb to even figure out what I want let alone how to do it.
at 25:10 you say I was committed. I felt like that was the key. Did you meet a woman all of a suden lol
Feeling underpaid and chocked financially
"If you don't have an income, get one"
Oh piss off
Have w Elle lived the same life? Lmao. It all doesn't make sense until it does. I like.
get offer in front of alot of ppl n have alot of traffic
When your afraid you’ll listen
Did you have student loans?
Bru!!!
How weird.....
