    I identified my best days always have 3 things. 1. a meaningful conversation with someone in my inner circle 2. create something I find beautiful 3. learn something I didn't know before.

      Wow, that second one hit hard. Saw a lady smell a flower that was on the table in a restaurant we were at and it blew my mind. To stop and smell the flower while I didn’t even notice them on the tables. Has been over a month and I still think about it

      Sounds like a great day to have. I found that for me it's 1. progress in the gym, 2. learning something new 3. progress in business & 4. getting sunshine, drinking 1 gal of water, eating good food.

    One of the biggest frustrations in life is when you know all of this, and have thought through it dozens of times, in depth, over years, but still fail to consistently act. Always trying to break through those barriers.

      I feel you, I'm in the same boat. I think i'm just now starting to understand how important it is to be aware of what distracts you from your purpose, and not let those thins get to you, no matter what.

      Its because its apart of the programming/indoctrination. There's a ton of stuff to be said about this... but lets just try to make it very simple instead of 70,000 words long. We all know or understand trauma right? And the way trauma works? That is sort of the same way people's actions/behaviors work, because of all the beliefs that have been programmed into their minds. 0 - 13 are the most important years of every human beings life. Read the book "What Happened to You" by Dr Bruce Perry & Oprah Winfrey to understand, human beings subconscious minds controls at least 90% but realistically 95% of their actions. In reality, all of the programming to either cripple/silence or stuff away the spiritual side of people is done early on in life, and then as they age more & more distractions, dopamine, more of the false realities to engage in is thrown at them to spend their lifes in hedonism.
      Why? Because, truly free human beings are dangerous. It was the easiest way... for the people with the most power to handle having a mass abundance of humans living in one civilization, we have 100s of millions of people living in the most developed prosperous nations, and endless in less developed countries suffer so they can benefit since their must be some order & balance in the universe. Balance is everything, the secret to everything, the reason for everything, the explanation for everything. Light cannot exist without darkness. Mindless pleasure without mindless suffering.
      There's a lot more to be said... there are many more reasons why they want to keep people unfree, weak, closed minded, weak willed... some of the reasons are for purely capitalistic, materialistic surface world agendas and others are just out of human emotions such as fear (of people taking control/power or too many people not wanting to live to be slaves for the people at the top of the hierarchy and finding their own meaning in life) & greed.

      I am not sure what it is, but there is something that puts an end to that cycle. One day you just commit. You do something small that leads to the next step and so on. Soon enough, you are doing it for a year already. Something you failed to keep up with for a few days in the past, you are now doing every single day for a fucking year. Find your chains so you can set yourself free by removing them. People pleasing and doom scrolling were some of my chains for example.

      @@spinnerboyz I totally hear you. I started meticulously tracking everything with a big habit tracker on my wall, X-ing out each activity daily, and setting daily minimums.
      Worked great for about a year, then I kinda hit a funk and lost it. Still trying to get back on track.

    Seriously I know I have said this before but as a 21-year-old who spent years in hospitals and now almost 4 years of recovery I wasn't to thank you, Dan.     I wrote down lots of quotes but the biggest takeaway for me is that people will default to what others are doing around them for the simple reason that they don't know what else is possible. To break free from this, you need to come up with (or be shown) an alternative way of life which is more in line with your own personal aspirations and values.
    If you're in this comment section, chances are you don't need help with that part. The next step is to systematize and set process goals for how you will realize that unique vision for your future.

    27:35 Really stood out to me because I love learning and watching educational content but I have such a disconnect when it comes to action. I haven't really been able to figure out why, but hearing this part about how focusing on the outcome (gaining the 50 followers a day) can cause mental chaos, hit close to home.
    This new perspective of seeing the daily win as "Did I put out the content and do the "boring fundamentals" "?
    is amazing because it removes the friction of the parts you cannot control(getting the likes, shares, followers, replies, etc.)

    Thank you for this, this confirmed that my absolute number 1 goal, or the north star in my life right now, is to become financially independent. I've been following this path already for years, and I've gotten a bit tired of it lately as it takes such a long time to get there, but I really wanna escape my corporate career desperately. I think I've become dedicated to financial independence with an almost religious ambition, comparable to the dedication it takes to become a monk or a nun. The price for this is to let other areas and aspects of life fall short (fun, enjoyment, relationships). But I just wanna escape this bloody rat race so desperately after more than 20 years running in it high speed.

      Because you have failed to realise the fundamental flaw in your plan for financial independence. There will never be enough money. You will merely keep getting more and more financial burdens that need maintaining, thus illustrating the old adage 'The things you own end up owning you'. As you make more money, so your standards will rise in accordance.it will never end. You could probably give everything up and live in a tent and have more than enough but you won't. Same as billionaires. How much do you need? You couldn't spend that wealth in ten lifetimes. But yet they keep going. This isn't a criticism, just an observation. If that is your goal, you will always just be on that never ending treadmill.

      @@acechadwick No, I'm really not this naive. I've been living as a minimalist for years, I never buy "stuff". I need 2000 USD per month for rent, insurances, food and pleasure. That's enough. As long as my dividends cover this, I'm set.

      Kudos foryour dedication, but it would be important to nevertheless find sources of enjoyment (that cost very little or nothing) throughout the way - this is what will keep you happy, motivated and going. Getting books from the library, hiking, running, swimming, learning a new hobby through free youtubevideos, helping others in difficult situations, learning to meal prep frugal, healthy and nutritious meals to be properly fueled- all of these things cost little to nothing but can bring you a lot of joy. Also, consider building a side hustle on a topic you are very passionate about that would allow you to leave your job much faster and work on your own terms.

    so glad I stumbled across your channel right as im prbably as lost as ive ever been in my life. Long story short I worked for my father in his metalworks company throughout covid, got really mentally drained by the entire situation and almost ruined the relationship with my father, so I decided to leave everything behind from one day to the other, moved countries to a circle of friends who now are my family. Being responsible for my very own life for the first time in my life as a 27 y old has been nothing but terrifying and hard.. I now realize what I left behind and am much more appreciative of what I had in the past, but I cannot rly go back since my father and I are just functioning better when we dont see each other day to day. I am now the director of my own story but am just lost at how I will make it. Your videos are giving me one hell of a stepping stone to get things right, drop out of school I dont even want to do, get a "necessity" job and then start building towards my dreams and ambitions. I feel like it the beginning of something big but right now I am terribly scared because I feel like I might have bitten off a little more than I can chew.       Sounds like you may have learnt a strong work ethic from your Dad. Harness that energy and point it in your chosen direction.
      Having said that, I started my own business at your age, struggled, persisted and prospered. My biggest achievement in life was meeting my wife and having two kids. I was determined to not expose my kids to the negative aspects of my childhood. Peace and love from Australia ✌🏼🇦🇺🌏

    I'm always extremely sceptical to these kinds of videos, self improvement in general, but you have been very inspiring. You are more clear on how to progress in life, while other people often don't know what they are talking about since their success was a very concrete thing. They are telling you to quit certain things to save up a few bucks a month, but they brag about how much they spend on cars, partying, women etc. They got random success from some unethical business and they try to make it seem like that cola you shouldn't buy makes all the difference.
    Success is literally just accomplishing goals. Find a problem in your life, and instead of complaining about it, find the solution and make that your purpose/goal. A successfull person does not neccessarily own a million dollars. It's not about money. It's about happiness and purpose.

But my spiritual standards are much higher than that. If you only define success in terms of gEtTiNg RiCh you are bound to participate in the corrupt illuminati social pyramid scheme that is designed to reward predatory and deceptive people. True success (ie alignment with your spiritual purpose whilst also surviving) is a lot harder than getting rich

    I haven’t yet watched but the title!
    10 years ago I quit my job after issues with management.
    I tried working from home under various schemes and everyone would laugh and say it’s a pyramid scheme, get a job. Fairs. But then what is an employment structure if not a pyramid scheme. And then what is society itself if not a pyramid scheme. So much illusion crumbled right there for me in that moment 10 years ago. I’ve said it ever since. Society is a pyramid scheme! This is the first time I’ve seen it written.

    I always liked to share my thoughts with family and friends and help them with their problems,
    I like to do research on a lot of different topics, so in my circles I'm always the go-to for information and advice.
    Obviously I don't expect to be always right, but hey hopefully I can help most of the time.
    Thanks again for the amazing content, thanks to you and other cool figures that I look up to online, I decided to become a creator myself.
    My main hope with the channel is to create a community of interesting people, and actually make connections irl if possible, I will of course consider monetary gain, I would be a fool not to, but that will be a "lesser purpose" :)

    I think balance is really important too, a lot of people never accept responsibility because it seems like we have to be a certain way all the time but I think slowly evolving into your best form is the most natural and effective for long term change

      Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, may be a true statement for lots of things in life. But I think when it comes to human nature, most people are just not willing to work very hard for anything. So “taking your time”, however that may be true in some cases, it really comes down to how hard you are willing to work. For how long can you sustain that? And if you’re not asking the right questions, and your cap on how hard you’re willing to work is not very high as it is, then your chances of succeeding in anything is already almost zero. No matter how long this person slowly progresses, they will not achieve any real difference by the time they die. You gotta find a way to go all in, and mean it to the core, consequences be damned. Your either in or your out. Developing this kind of mentality, and holding yourself to an extreme level of responsibility and discipline, this is how you can actually get somewhere with anything. In my experience at the very least.

    Very insightful. Getting moving is an issue for many. I go to the gym. There are days that I think, I will take a break, Knowing if I do this, the breaks come far to often.
    At one gym, there was a blind man there, with his dog. The trainer would help him on the treadmill, while his dog laid in front of the treadmill. He would also run the isle with the trainer guiding him.
    I have seen people with leg braces on, getting on the treadmill. Other "disabilities" that did not stop some from going to the gym. When I get that lazy day in mind, I think of the people that cant do what I am procrastinating about and do it.

I work on myself everyday alan watts when i was younger was the one who opened up my eyes on the world. Thank you for doing this because it really resonates with me.     I think it's very important to remember that any icon, teacher, mentor, guru or any kind of purveyor of knowledge and wisdom it's still a human being filled with flaws and fears and doubts and ego. One person that I think got me very interested in self-reflection in the exploration of consciousness would be Alan Watts and when you listen to him speak it sounds like he has it all together it sounds like he gets it, but if you look at his life you see a lot of inconsistencies that could invalidate what hes saying. I mean he had multiple unsuccessful marriages, was known to be an alcoholic and was categorized as so by his own children, and while his words of wisdom are so valuable I think even he and especially he would remind us that nothing that he is saying is something we can't figure out on our own that we don't need him or any other guru to teach us. Sometimes that guidance can be helpful especially if you are new to some of these concepts but the true understanding of those concepts is something that cannot be taught it has to be earned through your own understanding. I reference back to an amazing book by Hermann Hesse called Sidhartha where he examines the life essentially the Buddha but along his journey is informed of a great teacher who is called the Buddha by a friend of his and he journeys to hear him speak. He listens to the Buddha and he agrees with everything the Buddha is saying and after he is done speaking he approaches him to talk. He tells him that he agrees with everything he has heard and he believes that Buddha is truly enlightened, but the Buddha has nothing to teach him and to this the Buddha is intrigued and asked him to explain. He says that in words he cannot be taught what it is like to experience and lightning that's the way the Buddha did under the bodhi tree, in words there is no way of explaining how to find that understanding of the universe of life, the only way he can do that is to go out and try to find it for himself to which the Buddha smiles and tells him to go do so. The first thing he does is he breaks from his ascetic monk lifestyle and finds a woman to teach him the art of making love. After that t picks up a trade and becomes a businessmanfor many years and lives the life a businessman would full of money and success and friends and family until one day he wakes up and realizes that he has learned everything he can from that lifestyle and decides to search for something new. In that search he comes to a river and they blind ferryman and without words the ferryman teaches him how to sit and listen to The River and the world around him. After many years of just listening and being and reflecting that is when he finds it and what's so fascinating is as I read what it is he finds I know I have not found it because in reading his story I am not instructed on how to find it only in the knowledge that I must do so on my own in my own. If you realize that when you stop putting these figures on pedestals realize that they are not more special than you will have access to something you don't that everything they have you can find inside yourself if you want to. Learn the lessons read the books watch the videos but in the end the real work is when you're alone in your own head working through your own realizations

      The enlightened practice of not writing everything in one long paragraph.
      This gives rise to greater capacity for teaching as it's actually possible to read text without losing our sanity.

    Dan, I recently discovered your channel but the things you say and teach resonate with my beliefs 100%. I am a gaming content creator for a very niche 8 years old game called Endless Legend (EL). For the longest time I convinced myself that I wouldn't be able to make money sharing EL content, but to be honest I think I was just running away from doing the work required to grow my audience. Finally in 2022 I took the plunge and started streaming and making UA-cam videos and have been having a blast doing it even though my audience, the EL community, is small. The work I do feels meaningful because I receive lots of positive feedback from my community about how much they enjoyed my content or how my content helped them. As long as even 1 person finds enjoyment from my content, or even better, 1 new player decides to join our multiplayer games because of my content, I will continue to make more.

    Funny you mentioned Holism. I’m about to start reading Jan Smuts 1927 thesis on Holism upon which many of these ideas are based from my understanding. I love these little ethereal moments/ coincidences in life.
