    My memory is fine because I wired it straight to battery. However my radio still sporadically resets when it wants to, a screen will pop up asking me to accept terms of agreement or something. I do not believe it's the stereo because the unit before this one did the same thing every once in awhile. The other unit I tried before my current Jensen would turn off completely and I would have to disconnect battery and reconnect before unit would come on. Like I said my memory is fine on current unit but is does do resets sporadically when I start vehicle. Could my problem possibly be a bad/ dirty ignition switch?it definitely seems like problem has worsened since I added a remote start.

    Can wiring the stereo wrong cause a drain in the battery?

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  3 роки тому

      Yes if the red wire and yellow wire are hooked backwards or hooked together, it could cause the radio to stay on all the time even when the car is off. Unless both wires were hooked to the switched wire in the car harness.

    I connected the carradio at home while I put red and yellow together and still the settings disappear

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  3 роки тому

      Hello, the yellow wire on a aftermarket radio, is the memory wire. It requires 12 volts all the time. Any time it loses power, even for a second, the settings are reset. I'm not sure how your set up is or the vehicle. Some vehicles have wires that show 12 volts after the vehicle is turned off, but after a while of sitting they will turn off. With the red and yellow wire connected could cause the radio to stay on all the time, maybe causing the battery to drain. If you are unsure which wire in your dash is constant power, you could run a Fused- urn-on wire from the (+) post on the battery straight to your yellow wire.

    I attached my red and yellow together. Is that why my settings are not saving?

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  3 роки тому +1

      Hello it may not save your settings if the red and yellow, connected together, are hooked to a switched power. The yellow wire needs to have 12 volts all the time. It doesn't draw much current at all. So if you could get a constant 12 volts to the yellow wire you should be golden

    • @Highsteel21
      @Highsteel21 3 роки тому

      @@Bouray1 Thanks so much. So have a wire from the positive to the battery to the yellow? Also where do I put the blue/white wire after that? The radio doesn’t have a blue/white wire , but the car harness does. Will it drain my battery if I put it directly to the yellow. Really appreciate your time. You’re the only one who answered my question. Thanks!!

    I replaced a stock radio in my 2001 sunfire that intermittently lost the clock settings , noticing it at ignition start. I replaced it with a new radio which now has the same problem. It loses settings only sometimes. Never during a ride, always during ignition off. What do I need to look for? I made sure the ground was screwed down tight to the frame. I double checked red and yellow wires. I even replaced the battery ground wire that had some corrosion. Help!

    Was the same in my case in my Peugeot 206, just matter of changing the wires. I was worried i would have to cut wires and mess around with the ignition and the battery, like some suggest in some forums. Perhaps that was how you had to do on older models.

    I have an issues with Skoda Fabia 2007, the have bridged the Red and Yellow wire at the main connection box, which is the only way to get the radio to switch on. However this is stopping the central locking from working. I have switched the yellow and Red wire around which doesn't make any difference. I have checked all fuses which are all working fine. once I disconnect power from the radio my central locking works. what could be the problem?

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  3 роки тому

      Well usually every radio has a standard wiring color yellow is constant red is for switched power. I am not sure what vehicle you have. If you purchased a special wiring harness and matched everything color for color your radio will or should work that way it is supposed too. If the red and yellow are hooked together power will be applied to both and the radio will stay on forever. If the wires are reversed red to yellow and yellow to red it could stay on that way too.
