Awesome job! I have a 1997 Chevy truck that I don't want damaged by some radio thief so I'm leaving my factory radio in but I still wanted to use my phone or MP3 player to play music from those devices. I did this to my radio as per your procedures and it worked perfectly. If others are reading this, the switch that was used is from Radio Shack. The model number is 274-246. This model number can be seen at minute mark 2:31 on the video, under the schematic that was shown. Thanks for the video.
Mind blown... I had the same radio in my 98 Malibu the car went out saving my life in a terrible accident. I now have an 01 Monte Carlo SS with the class II RDS radio I have a kick ass Madison Square Garden system but I would put my factory radio back in if I can do this modification myself also since I would be putting the factory unit back in I don't want to use some crappy high/low converter to connect my amps. I would love to add the aux jack but wouldn't also love to catch the internal low level input signals before the go to the internal amplifier and run those clean output signals right out the back of the factory head unit with some female RCA connectors collected from all the spare harnesses I have or even get real "fancy" and drill some holes to mount a set Front/rear line out jacks like the they are in the aftermarket radios providing there is room to do so. I'm up for the challenge I can solder with the best of them I just don't have the schematic to save me from staring at a board trying to follow traces all day ...... help please ... BTW video liked and I subscribed thanks for sharing knowledge
Hi, I have been watching these videos. I am not electrically handy enough to try this my self and for me, there lots if gaps in what you are doing. I don't have scopes or high end volt meters. Are you selling head units with the AUX already installed and tested?
I like to have thing with the original, at Crucherfil Milennia MIL-BTREC Bluetooth® adapter they have this blue tooth mo-dual all it needs is to tied to what you just did, but do you have tune your radio to a different station that lower or higher band ? what is the cost if I send you my radio and the blue tooth mo-dual ?
How's the sound quality ?is it in stereo ? I just purchased a factory refurbished radio for my vehicle that came with an aux input they had installed much the same as you did with the jack input on the radio but the sound quality isn't that great , it's not in stereo ,is yours in stereo or is it supposed to be mono only ?
Hello, I wanted to ask you for help. I have the same model that you present with an integrated fan "Delco model 15757047". The radio works well but it is missing a frequency coil to tune the different radio stations, so I wanted to know if you could tell me the codes. the coil so I can search for it and be able to repair my radio, I thank you in advance, thank you. The coil I'm asking you about is located just behind the radio's power button, along with two 47 microfarad 16 volt electrolytic capacitors.
I picked up a Delco at a junkyard for $15 that looks like this one, its Model #16210475. I was about to attempt the mod but I cannot find the harness wiring to hook it up on a bench to a regulated power supply. Also, from my digging around on the web it seems that this model has an MP3/AUX output already as noted by the button showing CD AUX? I did also get the other harness that I suppose went to an external changer or XM or ?? Perhaps that is another place to tie in an input jack?
Cool video. Can you do a video on a 02-06 Nissan Altima factory radio, aux jack installation? Been looking into upgrading my radio but all I really need is a 3.5mm jack. Thanks
is necessary to give play to cd audio when connecting to the aux ? or simply to connect the ground is empiza aux playing the music no matter if the stereo is on fm , am or cd ?
Ron you are breaking the output of the cd player and taking its path.. when you pull the aux cable out... the circuit goes back to normal. that part number is 2740246 from radio shack
I wanted to add an aux input to my 1994 Fullsize Blazer radio, which has the radio head on the dash and remote amplifier box under dash. Have you any experience with this type of radio or knowledge how to make this same connection in this older radio?
I'm going to do mine that way as a means of not having to circumvent my factory monsoon at a hefty price. Can I ask how it is that you determine which pins to use? Is there a website to map circuit boards?
Hi Tim. I was wondering if you have schematics for that Radio? I bout mine off of EBay but, nothing happened when I connected the antenna but I do hear a very noisy fan! Thanks in advance.
I followed your instructions, and it works, but I get cd playback when the mp3 player changes songs. I have heard some call it "ghost" music as it is quiet in the background. Is there any way around this?
Is there a way you could help me interrupt the FM signal on a mid-1990s - early 2000s Pontiac CD Delco radio? I'm having a tough time figuring out which lines to splice and interrupt.
This looks like a good video and it is but yeah I have no idea what's going on lol. I do wish I can see a bit better but older video yes so that's fine no problem there.
Question for anybody.... 2000 Yukon XL. The center console had this blank spot that looks like a power outlet should go there. Would this be possible with a USB port going there? That way I could charge my phone and play music off if it too? Please let me know.
hi there.. is there such a hack for a 93 Delco ? model 30015807 used in the Geo Metros.. i am trying to hack mine for a AUX input..would be easier if i had a schematic, but i don't.. i do have lots of electronics exp. i just need to know if it is possible.. i was going to use the volume control, but it is not a dual control..but i think i tracked the connections to a 14 pin chip marked as P9539AB pin-14. the tone and balance n fade also goto this chip...but i can't figure the output.. any suggestions ?
blueboy7777777777777 I'm not sure about Silverado. But when I replaced the ignition cylinder on my old Honda, I found a spring loaded switch on the column with a yellow wire. the tablet in the cylinder would activate the alarm when you put the key in ignition switch. Along with an opened door, would go on forevers. While putting it all back together I mounted that switch/ sensor backwards so I would never hear it again.
I want to do the same on my 2003 tahoe. I take it im looking for the wires that start before the preamp?? im electrically inclined but unfamiliar with these radios. can you help me out at all. thank you.
Zigg Freud I have a 2003 Silverado. when I opened up the stereo is didn't look like this. that Jack he has is from radio shack .. part number 2740246. I'm going to finish what I started tomorrow but I need to find the left and right channel. the company I used to work for has a scope. I'll keep you in the loop if I can
Sir,I have a 1999 Malibu. I need to replace the bulbs. My main concern is my CD player. will feed the CD and I hear a rubbing sound and then ERR comes up and it will discharge the CD. I would like to get it fixed so l can listen to the CD,'s. can you help me sir and tell me my problem. THANK YOU
I would like to try this but you don't clearly state which wires go to which tabs on the jack. There's a brief shot of a picture that looks like it could be helpful but you don't show the whole picture. Nor is it clear what info you're trying to convey--are you saying ground, left, and right are tabs 1,2,5 resp? if so then what does the "w" mean? Am I missing something?
Do you have a tutorial for a 2004 GMC Bose 6 cd changer radio, where I can use the band button/port/wires, to install RCA cables? I want to install a JL Audio MBT-RX attachment to make my radio bluetooth friendly. I don't need to have a plug on my dash for a plug. I want to keep the system wireless. Thanks,
In a Word, yes, but You need to understand where on the Main Board the Pre-Amp Stage begins. W/O the Schematic would be difficult, & forget about "asking" MASS Electronics unless You have them actually DO the Work for You. (they are the Delco "Guru's"). IF It has Optional Cassette, it would be much easier. I LOVE Delco Auto Stereo, it is so well made. Mine is a 1997. I make do with the Cassette-to-CD-Adapter. That will connect to Your MP3, I can't see why it would not work as well as Mine did. I drove 2 1990 era Fords before my 1st Generous Motors Product, & I had a happy situation with my CD Adapters in the Ford (Matsushita? Mitsumi?) Stereos.
like vid. I have a 2003 chevy tahoe and cd changer broke. I am desperately trying to find an internal way to connect ipod like through cd input on the circuit board that runs to main board. it didn't work and I am bumed. I have ocscilloscope power supply frequency generator. I don't fully understand your idea. if you could give me a tip like there's unused pins for aux or explain your idea a little more clearly would greatly appreciate. no funds to just go out and by something new. thank you.
I have a F250 2001 w/6 disc in the radio is it possible to use the process in my stereo ? Any help would be appreciated. If not I'll research it my self but I will find a way nothing can stop me pahahaha
Where do you wire in the 3.5jack? I dont get “break the fm modulator” or the wave length thing. Can you do a step by step on the wiring please? I have a 99 astro
Isaac, did you figure this out? I ended up ordering the 5 position closed circuit jack but after a couple of tries I still have not figured out how to wire it? I think I am just going to add a dbdt mini toggle switch with amp L/R to middle, tuner L/R to one end and jack L/R to other end where I will just install a standard stereo 3.5mm jack. Radio Shacks are out of business so gotta shop around I guess.

just did this on my radio using your guide, worked like a charm!
Excelente muchisimas gracias funcionó perfecto !! Saludos desde San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora MEXICO !!!
Amigo podría comentarme como fue que lo logro
Thanks Tim, for the video on how to do this. works wonderful...
Just followed this tutorial and it worked out great! Thanks for posting this.
No, I loved that first song.
Can you use the acutally auxiliary setting to play the music. I don't know why you can't connect the aux port to the aux jack with a connector.

Yes the AM and FM work fine when not using the jack. Check out the Delco Radio Aux input 2 video for unit without the separate modulator.
is necessary to give play to cd audio when connecting to the aux ? or simply to connect the ground is empiza aux playing the music no matter if the stereo is on fm , am or cd ?
This was a very helpful tutorial. Thank you!
could the rear slave input plug on the 2002 grand prix unit also be used to do an external input, ?
what kind of 3.5 jack do you use? Why do you need 2 sets of wires ( input and output) Does the jack break the connections between the FM and the Amp?
