Great video, I'm putting a Pioneer DEH unit in my motorhome this Saturday. This just saved me a lot of second guessing and head scratching. Some possible embarrassment and half hearted apologies as well, because I'd probably have been cussing up a storm, loud enough for the neighbors to hear! Well... I probably still will do all of the above.... but thanks all the same!

Exactly, I was looking through the instructions and they had really poorly done diagrams for the rear speakers w/ and w/o subs and with an amp but nothing for the main speakers
Help! I have just mounted a MVH 330DAB in my Peugeot 206. Everything seems to work fine, except I get no sound! Do I need to put RCA connectors on the speaker wires, and connect them to the RCA terminals in the back???
Thanks for the very clear description in this video. I have a second hand MVH-S420BT model without harness. I want to use it as an external amplifier in my living room to hook external speakers to it. However, I do not know which pins to use at the back of the radio for the positive and negative DC input currents. How can I solve this puzzle? Thanks in advance.
I recommend to buy a wire harness for MVH-S420BT. You can find it here: www.pacparts.com/part.cfm?part_no=CDP1480&mfg=Pioneer Here is a How To video from Pioneer explaining the wire harness: ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFugh/v-deo.htmlttps://ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/v-deo.html
I just hook my pioneer up but when I turn off the ignition my stereo stays on it won’t go off! Any advice I know the red wire is connected so should I disconnected then?
The Red Wire is your trouble. The Red Wire should have power when the vehicle is switched on. The Red Wire should NOT have power when the vehicle is switched off. The Yellow Wire should have power at all times, even when the vehicle is switched off. Do not Connect Red and Yellow together. Great video...can u recommended an 8 inch non powered subwoofer that i can use on the rear channel of the unit without using an external amplifier...thanks.
There a two different products from Pioneer depending upon your installation application. If you are installing into an existing factory location or an infinite baffle install, please consider the Pioneer TS-A2000LD2 seen in this unboxing video from Pioneer: ua-cam.com/video/6bakEnog_nE/v-deo.html If you need a small enclosure, please consider the Pioneer TS-A2000LB seen in this unboxing video: ua-cam.com/video/WkbRBGtW9yM/v-deo.html Both will work with Pioneer headunit only power. Please note, do not expect the headunit only power to shake your mirrors. It won't. If you want more power, an external amplifier will make life better. Right now I currently have the DEH-6300UB installed in my dash and want to put in the MVH-X580BS. Do I have to swap out the harness or can I just use the same one?
I am looking to buy the MVH-MS510BT receiver to install in my 2010 Harley Electra glide. Which wiring kit would suit the install to allow me to still use the standard handlebar switchgear to operate?
I recommend the HD-AS-WC1 from Metra. You can see it here: metraonline.com/part/HD-ASWC-1 Please note: the Pioneer MVH-MS510BT is not waterproof and needs to be protected from weather. Could you please tell me Pioneer DEH-S31BT Whats the steering wheel control wire on this harness..? If I buy separate adapter(interface)how should I connect with this..? Because this stereo says it has Steering Wheel Control(swc) function
A 3rd party adapter is required for steering wheel control. Please watch this video to see the back of the Pioneer DEH-S31BT and the Steering Wheel Remote Control Input: ua-cam.com/video/pGGsNRS74rQ/v-deo.html You'll need to get a steering wheel control adapter. Many are available. Here is one possibility: metraonline.com/part/AXSWC There are no steering wheel controls on the receiver's wire harness. The steering wheel control adapter plugs in through a 3.5 mm jack on the back of the receiver. My car has two Ilumination swicht cable, one positive and other negativo. Should be I connect the illumination swicht in positive (Ilumination +) or negativa (Ilumination -) cable ?
I want to use line in on a Pioneer TS-WX300A active subwoofer. Dont want to use RCA. I was told i could use the rear output also as line in for the subwoofer? Do i need to change sp-o mode also to rea/sub or rear/rear?

So what is network mode? I have a subwoofer and amplifier and the last wires I need to connect is the Hi-In wires and I'm wondering if the grey and white wires are the right ones to connect to.
Pioneer standard mode and Network mode is explained in this Pioneer You Tube video: ua-cam.com/video/k3q0Zm5jvHg/v-deo.html If your in-dash receiver does not have network mode, or you did not put it into network mode, the Rear speaker outputs Gray and White are good Speaker Level connections to use for a sub amplifier. I don't have access to the wiring diagrams for these receivers. The Pioneer wire harness wire color codes will be the same for both receivers. I recommend to hold the new wire harness up to the old one and carefully check the order the wires are held in the black wire connector on the wire harness. If the wire color order is exactly the same on both black connectors it should work just fine. To be certain, please contact Pioneer in your region for help. I know this video is old, but when my truck is off for a few hours, my stereo messes up, it works,, but the screen is blank, goes white, then blank again. And when I go in reverse, the camera works (I have an after market camera) the main screen just flicks. If that makes sense?
What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? Please be more specific with your question. What is your setup? If your clock and radio stations reset each time you start your vehicle, the in-dash receiver may have an improper connection for the Yellow Wire. The Yellow Wire must have constant power from the vehicle. This means if the vehicle is switched on or switched off, the yellow wire should measure at ~12 volts. The Red Wire is for accessory. You can view the red wire as the receiver’s on/off switch. The red wire should measure ~ 12 volts only when the vehicle is switched on. ---Do not connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire together. --- Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras. Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver. The Pioneer ND-BC8 camera needs power and ground to operate. The camera should always have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. This is very similar to the way the Red Accessory wire works on a Pioneer in-dash receiver. Just because the camera has power does not mean you are viewing the camera window on the in-dash receiver. The receiver’s violet/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it’s reverse gear and, to automatically open the backup camera window on the receiver screen. Do not connect the violet/White wire to the camera. When you put the vehicle in it’s reverse gear, the violet/White wire should sense a change in voltage. This automatically opens the camera window on the in-dash receiver. And closes the camera window, when the vehicle is taken out of it’s reverse gear. One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics

will this help at all for the really old KE series models of head units? the old cassette ones that are not shaft style, but before CD units years availability?? i have an old school KE-2303QR cassette/tuner combo unit im puting in an old 93 lumina in place of the stock common large delco 16141883 unit with the later years style smaller wires pins style connector, about 92 and older were the larger style old style connectors/pins. this Pioneer KE series unit has two black ground wires right next to each other in bottom row of pins separate pins from each other,. not combined. no other wires pins in bottom row except for antenna ground which is a third separate ground wire pin in this bottom row,. which one is speakers ground and which one is main chassis unit ground ???? wires colors are: top row: red for antenna - blue - red - gray w/ red stripe - gray - green w/ red stripe - green,.,.. then second row is: four separate black grounding wires starting with antenna ground - i have to assume that the grays and greens are pair of speakers/channel wire pairs, greens for one channel and the grays for other channel?? front and rear. or each wire is speakers positives and it is actually four channels??
Not just a KE but a KE and QR. That is old school. I'll guess it's from about 1990 or so. The video above will not help at all. You're going back about 30 years or so, but this is what I remember. The Red had a fuse holder. This was the ignition wire. There was no constant power wire to hold the clock and radio stations settings because KE-2303QR was a pull out type of radio. Press the button on the front edge and the handle will pop up. Pull the handle to remove the radio chassis from the mounting cage. All memory was held with a battery inside the removable chassis. I'm sure the battery needs to be replaced 30 years later. One ground wire needs to be connected to the back of the mounting cage and the other was the system ground as well as the speaker ground. KE means this was a low powered radio and all 4 speakers shared one common ground. Taken out of the box, the Black ground had a spade connection. The single Speaker ground had 4 separate bullet connectors. Green Left Front Positive. Gray Right Front Positive. Green Red Left Rear Positive. Gray Red Right Rear Positive. In nearly every modern vehicle the answer is no. However, there could be some exceptions to this depending upon the vehicle. Pioneer receiver's are designed this way so you don't accidentally leave the in-dash receiver switched on when you exit your vehicle. And when you come back to the vehicle, the battery is dead. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
There are 3 wires that must be properly connected for a Pioneer in-dash receiver to power up. You must properly connect Yellow to constant power, this stays on even when the vehicle is off. Red to switched power, this is on when the vehicle is on and off when the vehicle is off. Black to ground metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. I recommend to check the fuse on the receiver at the wire harness connection area. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
I have the DEH-S4010BT model, and I'd like to know if you can connect the blue, remote turn on wire from my Pioneer GM-D8601 amp to the blue, system remote control wire on the head unit?
Yes. That's the idea. The Blue/White System Remote wire on the back of the DEH-S4010BT can connect to the System Control terminal on the Pioneer GM-D8601. This will switch the amplifier on, when the in-dash receiver is on, and it will switch the amplifier off when the in-dash receiver is off. If you are also trying to switch on several other external devices via the Blue/White System Remote wire, you may need an external relay to operate the entire system. You can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
Okay, thank you Sir. I’m only going to wire my amp to the blue/white wire, but just wanted to make sure it wasn’t going overload the wire on the receiver. Thanks again for the reply.
Amp Error means the receiver is in protection mode. If you are seeing AMP ERROR on the in-dash receiver screen this almost always means exposed speaker wires are touching each other or touching metal in the vehicle. Check the White and White/Black, the Gray and Gray/Black, the Green and Green/Black and the Purple and Purple/Black wires at the back of the in-dash receiver. You can see them here: ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/v-deo.html If the speaker leads have exposed wire, properly terminate the wire so there is no exposed wire. If the speaker wires are not touching each other or metal behind the dash, check the speaker locations in your vehicle. If a speaker terminal is touching metal in a door, or some other area you may see AMP ERROR on the in-dash receiver. Adding an amplifier is a great idea, however, please note: Until you figure out what is causing the amp error, it will continue to display. hi i got a pioneer x2700bs with 1 orange and white wire . on my harness kit their is a orange and white labeled dimmer and a solid orange wire illumination. which wire do i wire it too? the dimmer wire or illumination wire?
On the wire harness for the in dash receiver, the orange wire with white strip is used to dim the in dash receiver. Not to power the illumination. Contact your wire kit manufacturer for more information. Check out this video for more information about the Dimmer settings: ua-cam.com/video/T4PQl3AZNkA/v-deo.html
This video describes the function of each colored wire in the Pioneer wire harness system. The Pioneer wire harness included in the box with the in-dash receiver is not designed to match the wire colors of any OEM factory Make, Model, or Year vehicle wire harness. Different vehicle wire harnesses may use any combination of colors. Any color match with the Pioneer wire harness is purely coincidental. I recommend the use of a wire harness adapter designed to fit your particular vehicle. The wire harness adapter will then color match to the included Pioneer wire harness. This isn't absolutely necessary, but it makes installation easier and faster. If you choose to get a wire harness adapter, be sure to get one the is designed for your particular vehicle make, model, and year. Hi! I have Pioneer fh-p80bt. Install was very easy, but I noticed the sound is not how it should be... wires were all connected correctly but when I checked wires with multimeter, only white wire was positive and white with stripe was negative, all the others with stripe are positive and with no stripes negative... It should not be like that, or?
The Pioneer wire harness system is not designed to match the colors of any wires in any given vehicle. This video describes the function of Any Given Wire by its color code in the Pioneer wire harness. You must connect the wire harness to the proper wires in the vehicle. This is not based on the color of the vehicle wires.
@@deckerdotto6035 HI! Thanks on fast reply! I was talking about wires on radio. Direct output wires that go to ISO connector in car. They have weird readings on multimeter. Only wihite wire in upper row gives me positive, others in upper row negative. To bad I can't send you picture so you can see what I mean.
The speaker outputs should be read in AC. When the in-dash receiver is switched on and playing music, the speaker wire outputs (Gray and Gray/Black, White and White/Black, Purple and Purple/Black, Green and Green/Black) should read AC output. The designation of positive and negative on the speaker output wire is only to ensure correct phase polarity for the speaker.
For pioneer deh 1250UB as it relates to the front speakers. After installing my system, i noticed the front speaks aren’t being activated. I connected all the wires as required, i didn’t utilize the orange or the or the blue
What is the vehicle make, model, and year? Are you using an external amplifier? Does the vehicle have a factory amplifier that is powering the front speakers? Is that amplifier switching on? In many installation, the blue wire is used to switch on/off the external amplifier. The front speaker outputs are the white and white/black and Gray and gray/black. Are these wires connected directly to the front speakers? Or are they wired into the vehicle wiring system? Is the receiver's fader function set to zero? You can learn about the fader in this How To video from Pioneer: ua-cam.com/video/meEGlY_r-IE/v-deo.html
@@ItsJust_Havii Are you certain that the vehicle's front speakers were working before you installed the new in-dash receiver? Please be sure the receiver's Fader control is set to the middle. You can lean more about the fader control in this How to video from Pioneer: ua-cam.com/video/meEGlY_r-IE/v-deo.html If this does not correct the issue, I recommend to do a system reset. You can learn more about it in this How To video from Pioneer: ua-cam.com/video/b6vYngDNuK4/v-deo.html If this does not correct the issue, you may need to test the front speakers. You know the rear speakers are working. Just as a test, you can disconnect the in-dash receiver's rear speaker outputs, and reconnect them to the front speakers. Are the front speakers now working? If the rear speaker outputs work on the rear speakers, but not on the front speakers, you know the issue is not the in-dash receiver.
I am having a trouble.. my head unit is pioneer DEH-80PRS, Currently going on network mode. I am using 4 channel external amps. Front mid bass were connected to using external amps (channel B). Subwoofer was connected using bridged external amps (Channel A - Bridged). My tweeter was connected to grey and white black wire from the unit. The problem is : The mid high pass filter was filtering the mid bass (which is correct), but the mid low pass filter was filtering the tweeter instead of the mid bass. And therefore, the high low pass filter is filtering the mid bass. What is wrong here? I am confused.
The Pioneer DEH-80PRS was first manufactured back in 2010 and it works a little differently than any of the more modern Pioneer receivers in network mode. The Pioneer DEH-80PRS uses the Rear Output RCA and Rear Output Speaker Level as the High Range output in Network Mode. And the Front Output RCA and Front Output Speaker Level as the Mid-Range output in Network Mode. This means Green and Purple speaker wires are the Rear or High output. And the White and Gray speaker wires are the Front or midrange output. This is different than other modern Pioneer in-dash receivers. This is clearly noted in the DEH-80PRS installation manual. You can find it here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/DEH-80PRS_InstallationManual072616.pdf The RCA outputs are from the top of the unit to the bottom, Rear/High, Front/Mid, and Sub/Low. Also, please be sure to choose a Crossover Point and Slope for the midrange outputs both HPF and LPF. No matter what crossover point you set, if you choose a slope of Zero, you have effectively made this output a pass through with no crossover at all. @@deckerdotto6035 Hmmmmm... I see, that's why.. my next question, what does the rca input high and low means on the back of the unit? I searched for some resources but still, I don't understand what it used for and what do they differ.. and thanks a lot for your reply, it just solved my problem!
You can find the installation manual for the Pioneer DEH-80PRS here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/DEH-80PRS_InstallationManual072616.pdf This topic is covered in some detail. Please read it. The RCA input on the back of the Pioneer DEH-80PRS is simply a 2nd AUX input. It can use low level RCA input from an external device. Or it can use High Level speaker input from an external device. Depending upon what type of input you are going to use, set the switch accordingly. If you are not going to use the 2nd AUX input, it does not matter where you set the switch. The DEH-80PRS will not automatically adjust to the type of signal and may be overloaded with a high level input if you set the switch to low level input. If you are planning to play music from an external device through the 2nd AUX input, be sure to balance the volume output from the music player with the input on the DEH-80PRS to avoid a distorted input signal. If you are using an aftermarket wire harness adapter designed for your particular vehicle that offers matching wire colors to the Pioneer wire harness, you should be able to join the two black wires together. One black wire from the Pioneer harness and, one black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter joined together. That should be all you need to do. Another option would be to connect the Pioneer wire harness black wire to metal in the body or fame of the vehicle. If that case you should safely terminate the black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter. It's not a good idea to leave bare wires in the dash. I've installed a Pioneer Deck model DEH-X1900UB. After installing the car stereo my speedometer light is out as well as my tail lights. what could have caused this and how do I fix it?
If you need help I recommend going to a Pioneer Authorized dealer for installation. I sounds like you popped a fuse or two when you did the install. I’m able to get a pioneer stereo turned on in a Toyota solara 1999 jbl enhanced system but getting no Audio, I’ve matched everything and connected ground wire to metal but no difference, please help :(
Please note: the wire colors on the Pioneer wire harness are not meant to match up to any particular make, model, or year of vehicle. Does your 1999 JBL enhanced system have external amplifiers included with the system? Are the amplifiers switching on? Are you routing signal from the new in-dash receiver to the amplifiers? If you're not sure what you are doing, you may want to consider going to a car stereo shop for installation assistance. You can find more videos from Pioneer here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
Deckerd Otto I actually got it figured out, the harness that connects to the stereo apparently won’t work with the av cables, I cut the av plugs from the stereo harness and manually connected to each wire that matched to the car harness and it worked!!
The Blue wire with White stripe is used as an on/off switch for external devices connected to the in-dash receiver, such as external amplifiers or a power antenna. If you don't have any external devices that need to be switched on and off with the in-dash receiver, then you don't need to connect the Blue/White wire to anything. Just properly terminate the wire so it does not come into contact with other wires or metal in the vehicle. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
The red wire and the yellow wire are the keys to your question. The red wire should be hooked up to ignition. The yellow wire should be hooked up to constant power. This keeps the radios clock and radio station presets when the system is not switched on. If you put the yellow wire and the red wire to ignition it will power on with the ignition but will not save the clock or the radio stations. It will not use any power when it's off.
My wire in the trigger position is not violet and white it is brown I asked for a pinout 3 sure of this harness I'm not colorblind it does not do any good to give me the colors if they are all in different positions
What Pioneer in-dash receiver model number do you have? As of 2018-2019 Pioneer does not use a Brown wire in the wire harness for any Pioneer in-dash receiver. You can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
Pioneer in-dash receives must be connected to the vehicle to operate. This is done through the wire harness as explained in the video above. The wire colors on the Pioneer wire harness are not designed to match any particular make, model, or year of vehicle's dash wiring. In many cases you can buy a wire harness that is specific to your vehicle. The wire harness that fits your vehicle will have the same wire colors as the Pioneer wire harness. You just need to match up the wire colors. You can see one example here: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
@@deckerdotto6035 in my case I think my car supports the wire harness included. Do I need to connect the wires in any sort of way myself, as in with connector clips, crimper plier etc
It would be great if your car had the same plug as the one on the back of the Pioneer receiver. Best of luck with that. I strongly recommend that you take the existing radio out of the vehicle, and compare the connectors in the vehicle to the plug on the back of the Pioneer receiver. In nearly every vehicle ever made, these plugs will not match up. That's where a part like this is used: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 In nearly every Pioneer car stereo installation, you'll need to join the wires from the in-dash receiver to the vehicle in one way or another. There are many ways to join wires. Soldering, or crimp connectors are commonly used. You can find many videos on UA-cam explaining the process of wire joining. I have a 2001 Silverado and I just installed the Pioneer DEH-S4120BT. Most of the wires on the harness matched except one end had red, pink, orange with no corresponding colors that matched the harness coming from the radio. I matched them with the closest color, but there was 1 extra wire left coming from my truck because my truck apparently has more wires than my new radio.... The wire that got left out is orange, simply because there's nothing to connect it to. My new radio works great, but I have 2 problems. My headlights and my cab lights no longer come on automatically. They work off I manually turn them on though. I have been assured that everything is wired correctly, but something is obviously wrong. Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong? If I put the old radio back in the lights work fine lol
The colors on the Pioneer wire harness are not designed to match up to any make, model, or year of wiring in any vehicle. If you are looking for a way to plug into your existing vehicle wire harness I recommend buying a car stereo install wire harness made to fit your specific vehicle. Many are available. I checked all my connections to my radio but when I make adjustments in the eq settings under custom after 2 day it resets back to flat is and I have rest the radio
Are you using the Pioneer Smart Sync app to adjust the EQ? And are you adjusting the EQ one on particular music source? And then checking the EQ setting on the same music source? Or on a different music source?

It sounds like you may have blown the vehicle's fuse for dash illumination. You did this by touching two wires together or incorrect wire connections. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
When you see the amp error message, the first thing to look at is the speaker wire connections. I recommend to carefully check all 8 of the speaker output wires at the back of the receiver. White, Gray, Green, Purple and the black stripe matching colors. If any of them are touching one another or metal in the vehicle, you may see amp error on the receiver. Also check the speaker locations in the vehicle. Doors, back deck, dash etc... If any of the speaker terminals are touching metal in the vehicle you may see amp error displayed. If the speaker outputs are all connected or terminated properly, the Blue/white wire may be the issue. If you are attempting to operate more than 1 or 2 external devices, you may need to use a 12v relay instead of a direct connection to the external devices with the Blue/White wire. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
The Pioneer AVH-1300NEX was manufactured back in 2017. It sounds like you may have blown a fuse in the vehicle, or on the in-dash receiver, or both, during the installation. For any installation, I recommend to disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal before working with wiring. I recommend to check the fuse panel in the vehicle, and the 10 amp fuse on the back of the receiver. If a fuse is blown, you did something wrong. Go back and check your wiring before replacing the fuse. Here is the wire harness video for the Pioneer AVH-1300NEX: ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html You can find a full playlist of How To videos from Pioneer about AVH-1300NEX here: ua-cam.com/video/ObpKXwrN8us/v-deo.html Please be sure to install the latest firmware for your Pioneer AVH-1300NEX. I connected the red wire and the yellow wire to get my radio to work but every time I shut the car off and turn it back on the radio always makes me set it all up again idk why it does that
If your clock and radio stations reset each time you start your vehicle your in-dash receiver may have an improper connection for the Yellow Wire. The Yellow Wire must have constant power from the vehicle. Even when the vehicle is switched off. The Red Wire is for accessory and is sort of like the on/off switch for the in-dash receiver. Red should only have power when the vehicle is switched on. Do not connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire together. Please take a look at this video for more information on wiring your Pioneer in-dash receiver: ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/v-deo.html You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
Hi! I have a Pioneer DEH1900MP, that I recently hooked up. The device turns on, but the screen flashes on and off. I can’t seem to figure out why or get any information online. Any word on what this means?
Wow, that's an old one. The Pioneer DEH-1900MP was produced back in 2005-2006. The screen flashing likely means a wiring problem. The first possible issue is with the ground wire. Check to be sure the Black wire has a good connection to metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. Another possibility is speaker wires touching each other or metal in the vehicle. I recommend to check the back of the receiver to be sure no speaker wires are exposed and touching one another, or metal. Also check the speaker locations to see that the speaker terminals are not touching metal in the door or rear deck or other are in the vehicle. It's also possible that after 15 years, this product needs to be serviced. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
If you have an external amplifier, you can use the Blue/White wire to switch it on and off with the in-dash receiver as seen here: ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/v-deo.html Your amplifier may need power directly from the vehicle battery and a proper ground connection as well. i have problem with the yellow wire. Can't seem to have power on the radio unless the car is turn onand everytime i turn it on, it resets. damn annoying. Any suggestion
You have it wired wrong. The Red wire should have power only when the vehicle is switched on. The Yellow wire should have power at all times, even when the vehicle is switched off. If you don't know what you are doing I recommend going to a car stereo shop for installation help.
oh well i got it fix, i just connected to a fuse with a piggy back. constant 12v but now when i turn the car off and key out of the ing. the radio stays on HAHA
You have the RED wire in the wrong place and you are going to kill the cars battery. The RED wire should have power only when the vehicle is switched on. I recommend going to a car stereo shop for help.

No. Not and expect any real performance from the subwoofers. You can connect one small subwoofer, 8 inch, or 20 cm to the rear output of the in-dash receiver. It works very nicely with one small subwoofer. If you want to use more than one small subwoofer or If you are looking for big performance you'll need to use an external amplifier. It's possible the connections on the back of the detachable face need to be cleaned. I recommend to remove the face. You can see it on a similar in-dash receiver here: ua-cam.com/video/-kdVMZNL1MA/v-deo.html Clean the connections with a Q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol or gently rub with a pencil eraser. Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to operate with 4-Ohm to 8-Ohm impedance shown to the internal amplifier. If you go below 4 ohms, you'll see issues like this. If you are using 4 speakers, And one speaker is wired to each of the 4 outputs from the in-dash receiver and the speakers are rated at 4 ohm impedance you should be able to turn the volume up higher than 47. If this is the case it's possible you have a speaker wire that is touching metal somewhere in the vehicle. This can happen at the back of the speaker in a door or other location, or at the back of the in-dash receiver, and will only shut down the in-dash receiver's internal amp when you start to turn up the volume. To test, I recommend to disconnect one speaker at a time. With one speaker disconnected, turn up the volume to see if you can go higher than 47. If you can't go higher than 47 then disconnect another speaker and try again until you find the one (or more than one) that is causing the issue. How many speakers are you using? Are they wired to the front outputs? Or the rear outputs? Or to both? Are you using an external amplifier? What speakers are you using? What is the nominal impedance of the speakers? The nominal impedance is usually printed on the magnet of the speaker. Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to operate with 4-Ohm to 8-Ohm impedance shown to the internal amplifier. @@deckerdotto6035 Dude you are dedicated, respect for trying to help everybody. I'm gonna be trying to put a deh-2600ui in my truck soon. I'm still confused about one thing, figure you can maybe help. I was planning on getting 50w 6x9s to upgrade the factory door speakers (it's an old single cab so only two factory speakers total) and then I wanted to run an amp to a sub behind the seat and maybe at some later point in time add another set of speakers next to the sub, I know that I would run the door speakers off the wiring harness in this video but where would I plug the amp in? Would it go to the two larger ports on the back of the head unit?
An external amplifier gets is audio signal from the RCA outputs on the back of the in-dash receiver. RCA outputs are the Red and White jacks on the back of the receiver. Red is Right and White is left. You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/R5bEWdIAsFc/v-deo.html On an amplifier there are RCA inputs. You'll connect the RCA OUT from the receiver to the RCA IN on the amplifier. You can see this on a small Pioneer amplifier here: ua-cam.com/video/eV6Jf4ZsTLQ/v-deo.html I recommend getting an amplifier wiring kit to make this work. Many are available. Here is one possibility: www.crutchfield.com/p_142PA10BX/EFX-PA10BX-Wiring-Kit.html To wire an amplifier you'll need to connect directly to the vehicle battery for power. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
@@deckerdotto6035 Okay, so my only other question would be do you recommend getting one of those wiring kits? Like is it really necessary or could I just get the individual wires and all that? Would it end up being cheaper to get a wiring kits?
I use wire kits when I do install work. The point of the wiring kit at the in-dash receiver is to make the new radio installation easier. The wiring kit for the receiver usually has a plastic connector that fits your particular vehicle. It will just plug into the vehicle's wiring that you unplugged from the factory radio. The other side of the wiring kit has the same color of wires that comes with the Pioneer receiver. You match up the colors and you should be in good shape. You can learn more about wiring kits for receivers here: metraonline.com/parts/MET-TURBOW/M-CAR_HARN Depending upon your particular vehicle, you may also need an AM/FM antenna adapter to fit the new receiver. Do you have to get a wiring kit for the receiver? No. You Don't. However, please be aware that you'll need to identify each of the wires necessary to make the stereo work. Power, ground, accessory, + and - for the each of the speakers, etc... If you're not comfortable with that, I recommend using the wiring kit. As for the amplifier wiring kit, you can buy Power Wire, and proper fuses, and in-line connectors along with ground wire, and RCA cables about 15 feet long. Or you can buy it all in a simple kit. It costs a few dollars, however, I recommend using the kit because the kit makes things easier, the parts are designed to work together, and this leads to fewer mistakes. Your video information is awesome! Thank you. Would you know about honda civic 2000(SiR). What is orange wire for? It's not orange/white. Just pure Orange.
If you don't understand what you are doing, I recommend taking your vehicle to a car stereo dealer for professional installation. The color codes in this video apply to Pioneer Car in dash receivers only. The color codes do not apply to any auto make, model, or year color codes.
I concur with your comment (they should be bigger - specially for long wire runs), but to be fair, the 18 awg wires from the head unit for the speakers have plenty of headroom and bandwidth for the relatively low power and fidelity of the head unit, just keep the total run length to about 12 feet (or 3.5 meters). Now the speaker wires from your external amplifier (if equipped) to the actual speakers is another story.

Ok, before the criticism starts, im not very tech savvy (at all) and I've all my speaker wires connected. And color matched. But I'm left with red ignition, orange illumination/dash, and blue power antenna wires on the "truck side" of the harness. And on the head unit side I've a single violet wire (no idea) and blue (system remote control) wire. Where did I fuck up?
The wiring colors in nearly every make, model and, year of vehicle are different. The wire colors on the Pioneer wire harness are not designed to match any particular make, model, or year of vehicle's dash wiring colors. Any wire colors that you match from the Pioneer wire harness directly to your vehicle are purely coincidental and may not be the correct connection for proper operation of the in-dash receiver. What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? You mentioned a violet wire. This leads me to believe you are using a receiver with a video screen and backup camera input. If that's the case, you may find this Pioneer Wire Harness video useful: ua-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/v-deo.html This videos explains the violet/white and Green Parking Brake wire and Blue/White system remote wire. I recommend to use a wire harness adapter kit for your installation. Many are available. You can see one example here: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 In many cases you can buy a wire harness that is specific to your vehicle. The wire harness that fits your vehicle will have the same wire colors as the Pioneer wire harness. You just need to match up the wire colors. The Pioneer GM-A3702 amplifier requires a power connection directly to the vehicle's battery. I recommend 8 gauge cable. Please be certain to put a fuse on the power cable within 12 inches of the vehicle's battery. The amplifier will also require a ground connection to metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. I recommend 8 gauge for the ground cable as well as the power cable. You'll need to run RCA wires from the in-dash receiver's Rear RCA output directly to the amplifier's RCA input. In addition, you'll need to extend the Blue wire with white stripe on the back of the in-dash receiver to the system control terminal on the amplifier. Wiring this way will cause the amplifier to power on and off with the in-dash receiver. You'll know the amplifier is on when you see the power indicator on the amp is illuminated. Do you mean the wire harness that came in the box with the Pioneer in-dash receiver does not fit in the Pioneer in-dash receiver? If so, you should contact the Pioneer Authorized Dealer where you purchased the product and explain the situation. The Pioneer wire harness is not designed to fit any make, year, or model of vehicle. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
As shown in the video above: ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/v-deo.html The Blue/White wire is used to switch on components external to the in-dash receiver, like amplifiers and power antennas. If you don't have external amplifiers or power antennas you don't need to connect the Blue/White Wire. If you are overloading the Blue/White Wire, use a third party relay to switch on the external devices. In addition, "Amp Error" will also appear if the speaker wires are touching one another or metal in the vehicle. Be sure the speaker wires are not touching one another or metal in the door or rear deck. You can find more videos from Pioneer here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics

I have a MVH- 85 UB and want to change to a DEH- S 1050 UB can I use the same harness to connect the new receiver

My old vintage pioneer no have rca output for amplifier.can i use white and grey for stereo to amplifier using converter high to low rca?
That may depend on how old and vintage your Pioneer receiver is. The wire colors for old vintage Pioneer receivers may not be the same as the colors you see in this video. Please be sure you're using the speaker outputs to connect to your line level converter. You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera.
One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal.

will this help at all for the really old KE series models of head units? the old cassette ones that are not shaft style, but before CD units years availability?? i have an old school KE-2303QR cassette/tuner combo unit im puting in an old 93 lumina in place of the stock common large delco 16141883 unit with the later years style smaller wires pins style connector, about 92 and older were the larger style old style connectors/pins. this Pioneer KE series unit has two black ground wires right next to each other in bottom row of pins separate pins from each other,. not combined. no other wires pins in bottom row except for antenna ground which is a third separate ground wire pin in this bottom row,. which one is speakers ground and which one is main chassis unit ground ???? wires colors are: top row: red for antenna - blue - red - gray w/ red stripe - gray - green w/ red stripe - green,.,..
then second row is: four separate black grounding wires starting with antenna ground -
i have to assume that the grays and greens are pair of speakers/channel wire pairs, greens for one channel and the grays for other channel?? front and rear. or each wire is speakers positives and it is actually four channels??
Gray Red Right Rear Positive. connected the as per the video, is there a way for the stereo to turnon while there is no key in the ignition?
In nearly every modern vehicle the answer is no. However, there could be some exceptions to this depending upon the vehicle. Pioneer receiver's are designed this way so you don't accidentally leave the in-dash receiver switched on when you exit your vehicle. And when you come back to the vehicle, the battery is dead. I’ve got my ground and power wires hooked up and have verified they both work. No sign of life from the radio. Could this mean it’s a defective unit?
There are 3 wires that must be properly connected for a Pioneer in-dash receiver to power up. You must properly connect Yellow to constant power, this stays on even when the vehicle is off. Red to switched power, this is on when the vehicle is on and off when the vehicle is off. Black to ground metal in the body or frame of the vehicle.
I recommend to check the fuse on the receiver at the wire harness connection area.

I have a deh s31bt, with AMP ERROR, if I add the external amplifier it’ll fix it? My battery voltage is up near 14
My harness has two yellow wires, I tied them together but I’m not getting power. Should I only use one yellow? Help!
Here is one example: www.crutchfield.com/S-rYLQbV2XD7r/p_120701770/Metra-70-1770-Receiver-Wire-Harness.html?awcr=12166312015&awdv=c&awkw=car%20radio%20wire%20harness%20adapter&awmt=e&awnw=o&awat=&awug=&msclkid=7b2c1836d2d41b63c9317b2e498cff59

If this does not correct the issue, I recommend to do a system reset. You can learn more about it in this How To video from Pioneer: ua-cam.com/video/b6vYngDNuK4/v-deo.html
If this does not correct the issue, you may need to test the front speakers.

Wait so the black ground wires from my head unit and from my new harness adapter for my vehicle don't go together? You got to ground both?
If you are using an aftermarket wire harness adapter designed for your particular vehicle that offers matching wire colors to the Pioneer wire harness, you should be able to join the two black wires together. One black wire from the Pioneer harness and, one black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter joined together. That should be all you need to do. Another option would be to connect the Pioneer wire harness black wire to metal in the body or fame of the vehicle. If that case you should safely terminate the black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter. It's not a good idea to leave bare wires in the dash. Trying to use a MVH-S321 in a travel trailer. I do not want it consuming battery power when I am not using it.

Mine does not have the red wire what should i do? I bought the stereo new from walmart i have a pink wire
If you found the Black wire, and you found the Yellow wire, the only wire remaining that is remotely close to red must be the red wire.
Got a buick lacrosse installed w an a vh-1300nex. All connections are made but no power when I turn the ignition. Any help?
Thanks I got it and sounds great
What color wire do i hook to my amp wire?
If you have an external amplifier, you can use the Blue/White wire to switch it on and off with the in-dash receiver as seen here: ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/v-deo.html Your amplifier may need power directly from the vehicle battery and a proper ground connection as well. You can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
And steering wheel control? Like +/- etc?
Most of our units have a wired remote port on the back. This is where you would connect a steering wheel control adapter.
i have problem with the yellow wire.
I recommend going to a car stereo shop for help.
usually its as simple as swap the red and yellow wire but check outputs first if your unsure
Does the wire harness work with the same power for house use?
No. I recommend taking your vehicle to an Authorized Pioneer Dealer for installation help. You can find one here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Where-To-Buy You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
just installed my stereo system and its VERY staticy no matter what the volume is and i know i messed up something w the wiring i just dont know what. could anybody please help?
I recommend taking your vehicle to your local Pioneer Authorized dealer for installation help. Do you have the AM/FM antenna from the vehicle connected to the Pioneer in-dash receiver? Are the speakers functioning properly? What model number of Pioneer receiver do you have? You can find more videos on Pioneer's UA-cam Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
2:30 can I connect 2 subs with this in paralel?

Hi. Could not find any video that could explain how to connect the head unit to 2 speakers in front and 1 subwoofer using the rear channel without an amplifier
I don't know what model of in dash receiver you have, but you can check out this video for more information on changing the rear speaker outputs from Full Range to Subwoofer output. ua-cam.com/video/CGri78izPzA/v-deo.html
Deckerd Otto hey thanks a lot for the quick reply. I actually found one of your videos for the same. I love pioneer products man.
Model : Pioneer FH-S701BS
When i get Bluetooth call, I can see it on the display..when I press answer button I can't hear anything...sounds are not coming through the speaker ..
Phone calls can be heard on the FRONT SPEAKER OUTPUTS and FRONT RCA OUTPUTS only when the system is set up in Standard Mode.
Bluetooth Audio can be heard on both Front and Rear Speaker outputs.
To check your set up, fade the system all the way to the front. Can you hear a call? Can you hear music? For help with the fader, check out this video similar to FH-S701BS ua-cam.com/video/VgeH4WSTXA4/v-deo.html

Deckerd Otto : awesome...those informations are very helpful for me....thank you
My display will go in and out on my pioneer deh-x55hd but will stay on in I gently push the bottom up????
It's possible the connections on the back of the detachable face need to be cleaned. I recommend to remove the face. You can see it on a similar in-dash receiver here: ua-cam.com/video/-kdVMZNL1MA/v-deo.html Clean the connections with a Q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol or gently rub with a pencil eraser. Hi just installed pioneer MVH-S215BT every fine but once l turn volume upto 47 it's cuts out and turns off, volume max is 62. Can anyone help.
I just bought a DEH-S5010BT. I can't believe how small the speaker wires are on the harness, comon man !
Helped a lot thanks
Can u explain dvh-p4050mp

Where can I connect my pioneer subwoofer?
Depends on the model of stereo. On the back of the stereo, you should see an SW or REAR/SW. This is the output that would connect to a powered subwoofer or amplifier. If you need additional assistance, contact our Product Support at 1-800-421-1404 and select option #1.

@@pioneerelectronics my radio model is pioneer mvh-s420bt, my amplifier model is Gm-A3702 and my subwoofer model is GXT-3730B
Ah. That explains the deal with that blue wire with white stripe. Antenna power time.
I have a pioneer radio so do you connect the blue wire with white strip to the antenna
Hi, the connector supplied is not compatible with that of the machine
Do you mean the wire harness that came in the box with the Pioneer in-dash receiver does not fit in the Pioneer in-dash receiver? If so, you should contact the Pioneer Authorized Dealer where you purchased the product and explain the situation.
If you mean the vehicle's OEM factory wire harness connector does not fit into the Pioneer receiver, Yes you are correct. The Pioneer wire harness is not designed to fit any make, year, or model of vehicle.

Blue wire .. Amp error keeps coming out wher do i connect the blue wire ??
Which wire is the power??
The Yellow Wire and Red Wire are both required to power up the in-dash receiver. You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/v-deo.html The Black ground wire is also required to operate the in-dash receiver. When installed in a vehicle, do not connect the Red Wire, and Yellow Wire together. If you don't understand what you are doing I recommend to take your vehicle to a qualified Car Stereo shop for help with installation.
