Controversial MUFASA Trailer Changes ICONIC Lion King Scene...

- Mufasa's trailer is stirring up some controversy by potentially changing the iconic scene from the original Lion King. You know the one - that heart-to-heart moment between Mufasa and Simba, where they talk about the "great kings of the past" looking down from the stars? This scene becomes even more significant after Mufasa's tragic death, as Simba draws on this wisdom to find his way back to his rightful place. But now, the Mufasa trailer seems to mess with that iconic scene. According to Rafiki's narration, Mufasa wasn't born with any royal blood - he was actually an orphan. This totally contradicts what we thought we knew about Mufasa's lineage and the whole "great kings" thing. It kind of takes away from the powerful message of passing down wisdom through generations. Plus, if Mufasa was an orphan, it raises questions about how he knew about the whole stars and kings connection in the first place. It's like they're rewriting one of the best scenes from The Lion King, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It just makes that moment with Simba and Mufasa feel less special, you know?

In fact it would make more sense if Scar is the orphan lion cub who was adopted by the kings who were before Mufasa, Ahadi and Uru.

@@ameeract1721 bro what
I like the idea if Scar is Mufasa’s adopted brother and his jealous that his brother is king cause his of royal blood and not Scar.
Kinda like Thor and Loki in a way, that would make a lot of sense why Scar wants to dethrone Mufasa and Simba.
@@ameeract1721who hurt you kid 😂
@@molten2114 I agree
Disney be like, you see that iconic story? Let's make a needless prequel about it and ruin its continuity.
Or sequel, Star wars ...cough...cough😅
I know right! They even ruined the lore for how scar got his scar. There were 2 possible canon reasons:
1: a buffalo's horn struck his eye
2. Ahadi punished Scar (Taka) for disobeying and being in the outlands and with the hyenas.

….seriously? This video and the comments are making me question my sanity. There are plenty of valid criticisms of these movies, but making Mufasa an orphan is not one of them. How on earth does Mufasa being adopted mean he can’t be a part of the lineage of kings? People are exposing that they don’t see adopted kids as “real family,” and that they have an archaic obsession with bloodlines. Reminds me of all those creepy dudes who obsess over “passing down their genes.”
If that’s the case for Mufasa being an orphan to the pridelands then that makes it even worse because Scar was the rightful king the whole time if he was born and raised in the pridelands😳
they both couldve been adopted orphans
@@redskyz4426 I’ve already written my own version of the lion king story between Mufasa and Taka(Before he was Scar) and it’s way better than this garbage. No offense
@@OGMAKKELLI how would u know if the movie hasnt come out yet?
@@redskyz4426 Because I’ve figured out the best way to explain each character’s dialogue in the script including all the villains before they became what they are now. Mufasa, Taka, Sarabi, Sarafina, Zira, and The Hyenas (Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed) are all in the story. Ahadi & Uru, Kuzimu & Azola, Mohatu, and The Shenzi, Banzai and Ed’s Mother are also in the story
@@redskyz4426 In my version Mufasa (Older) and Taka (Younger) are biological brothers. Taka gave himself the name “Scar” to never forget the actions of his father (Ahadi). Mufasa and Taka both have feelings for Sarabi. Sarafina always had feelings and understands Taka in a certain way. Zira is obsessed with Scar that she will never leave his side, also manipulative towards him
At this point they don’t care about beloved classics. They just want to nostalgia bait people into watching stupid remakes.
But people complained about the remakes being too similar to the original before
Is "fluffle" a unique way of spelling "falafel"?
I mean rather not have a 1 to 1 film.
Money!
But this isn't a remake I mean in technical terms I kinda guess but it's more a not even prequel really just a mufasa origin story I guess
That's what happens when all the studio cares about is money.
Adoptees exist and can still be imparted wisdom by previous generations even if they aren't related to them
The line does not say "our ancestors or familes". It literally just says "great kings from the past". This does not mean that all kings were blood-related. In this instance, semantics are important
Yea it’s true, normally kings have to be from the same lineage but in some cases it doesn’t follow tradition like for example maybe mufasa is the orphan while scar has the royal blood I believe that to be a king you need to do what’s right for your people and have unselfish desires which is what mufasa had while scar just wanted the throne because of its power
Exactly! He passed on important wisdom to the next king. Blood-lines be damned, if you're good you're good.
The whole point of the lion king is it is Simba's duty to be king as his father's son. If you then say "anyone can be king," it absolutely does destroy the narrative. Simba has no duty to this lrgacy of random kings. He has a duty as his father's son, his grandfather's grandson, etc
Except you're also missing there part where canonically, Mufasa DOES have royal parents, and not just adopted parents. He and Scar are biological brothers, with biological, royal parents.
@@fangiscool1 but the first movie shows that anyone CAN be king... Just not necessarily a good one.
It also shits on Scars past as well as the previous king before Mufasa
Mmhm. I watched the original Lion King in cinemas and it was fantastic. I threw my food at the Mufasa Trailer booing it.
I’m a lion king fan for idk how many years, but what I know is that Scar and Mufasa are related, their parents are Ahadi and Uru
Yes. Original lore, they are brothers by blood. This isn't cannon (fans decision) or it's a new universe. There are now two Lion King Cinematic Universe's. The animated one and the live action one
That's so true. disney just does wants to mess up their own story of mufasa and scar
Exactly
@@jep9092 Aren't there three versions? The movie one (Lion King, Lion King 2, Lion King 3 & Lion Guard), Live-action one and the book one? Since all three have different things and are not set in the same universe? The movies tell a different story than the books do and so does kinda the live-action one so they all are different universes.
If I had to guess, it’ll most likely be that he would show the signs of a true leader and is then chosen as king rather than some sort of successor and maybe that’s how scar becomes so jealous
This makes for a much better story
Exactly
It doesn’t make any difference whatsoever. It’s still passing down to generations, just because they’re not genetically related doesn’t mean that he’s not family. If anything it enhances the message because it’s not locked to one bloodline
Maybe Ahadi told Mufasa about it. Adoptive parents are still parents!!!
If Mufasa is the orphan rather than Scar, but was chosen to be the next king come the time, wouldn't it make sense if the king who adopted him told both of them about the stars and the great kings of the past, so that when one of them took over the role, they knew they'd always have guidance? Just saying.
that would make sense. And Mufasa got selected to be King because Scar at one point is gonna mess up and lose his birthright.
It would make more sense for Mufasa to be an orphan it all explains why scar hates Mufasa so much because he took his rightful place. I think that scars father chose Mufasa over scar and he was just adopted. That’s why scar hates Mufasa so much it makes sense.
@@michaelgershon1 Scar once said he's the 2nd heir until Simba was born, proved that Scar is Mufasa's younger brother. This new plot may make sense why Scar hate Mufasa so much but doesn't match with some lines in the original. It slaps the original so hard
@@michaelgershon1 Not really, Originally there was symbolism with the colors they used in the original movie. They used the colors of the sun for loyalty. Scars was more sinister so he had a dark mane instead. He also said he was second in line before Simba birth. If anything Scar looks more like the outcast.
@@michaelgershon1By animated continuity, Scar was placed as leader of the Lion Guard (royal guard) and Mufasa invented the nickname "Scar" after the wound he got defending the Pride lands from an evil plot, much to his dismay. This incident shook his loyalty.

His adoptive father told him about it, okay? *mic drop!* I’m out, PEACE!
Disney is just ruining the classics for no reason, the new generations should be watching the original, not this new cgi crap
If he's adopted though he has no right to the throne because royal blood is passed down through bloodlines
@@wendydominoit would only make sense if scar did bad things in his past that took that from him and the reason he wasn’t first in line anymore. But I guess we’ll js have to wait and see
The animal kingdom doesn't work like a human monarchy.
If Mufasa becomes alpha, he becomes king - whether he's an adopted orphan, or blood prince.
I actually like what they've done with this. Because it goes to show that you can be destined for greatness, not because of your family lineage, but because of who you are as an individual.
Nah, I love what they are doing
An orphan to a King? That’s the coolest story arc ever 😭. And Scar’s Lore is gonna go even harder
I think it's cool he is adopted bc it makes Scars anger make more sense bc he felt he lost his rightful spot. Also it shows that blood alone is not what makes a good king and that the past kings will still watch over the good rulers reguardless of blood
Great point... I didn't think of it from that perspective.
In the trailer there is a glimpse mufasa looking up in the sky seeing another lion in the sky
It was obvious, scar's parents taught him about great kings of the past
Much better message: anyone can be a king. To be a great king is special. This nobility is earned not inherited.
Says a socialist
This is actually a good idea. This would explain why Scar is so mad about not being king. He thought he was owed it, because of his bloodline. Actually a pretty good message that blood doesn’t matter. Mufasa was the more compassionate leader. Still skeptical of these “live action” Disney projects though.
In the synopsis it says Mufasa was abandoned which I'm curious to see how but he met a lion named Taka from the Pride lands but we saw snow and ice assuming Mufasa was from a pride that stayed in that snowy place which is also interesting because that could be where he met Sarabi, I genuinely have a lot of questions because in the trailer there was another lion that seemed aggressive but yeah also 50/50 with these live actions
It actually follows the story of Moses! I an interested in how they tey to explain this.
Same here! I was actually interested by that chouce
Just an excuse to erase the fact the fued steams from there mother not electing them both when the fathers wanted them both to be kings. The mother scolded scar for an accident he didnt commit. Which is why he was deemed not worthy.
Putting the mother as the reason for the issues in the first place.
Disney cant have that because… woman.

Hats off to Disney ! 😅
EXACTLY FUCKED IT ALL UP.
Fucked it all up. Mufasa was the older brother and Scar was the younger. They were biological brothers (proved in the Lion Guard series) so what's going on with the live-action one? ._.
There is no way they're going to scrap one of the biggest plots in the movie franchise. It's why Kiara and Kovu got together it's why simba went back to the pride lands there is no way they're going to scrap it. It will be a full circle moment in the movie for sure. Lion Guard does a good job understanding Mufasa's time as king. Scar lead the lion guard however used it for evil. Such a shame the Mufasa movie won't focus on any of their family.
I LOVED LION GUARD!
They handled The lion king lore so well FOR A KIDS SHOW ON DISNEY JR
Lion guard was the biggest load of :poop: that ever happened to TLK mythos.
Hell no, the Lion Guard is no cannon. There was never mentioned of magical nonsense powers & it's a show for toodlers. @@lagopusvulpuz1571but it was confirmed canon
These questions can be easily answered, this video is silly
He can be an orphan. The idea that he is the first king is messing it up.
So here's the story of Mufasa. He was in fact an orphan lion cub, he roamed the land adapting and surviving and on that journey he met another orphan cub who will soon be known as Scar. He and Scar survived until a pride with 6 male lions kings adopted them, it was the Mapogo pride. The pride they were in was in a war with another pride lead by the Majingilane male lions. The 6 great kings of their pride were beaten and killed by their rivals. The pair, Mufasa and Scar were grown ups and was task by the remaining Mapogo to protect the pride, in a final attempt by the remaining Mapogo's to keep their pride in tact they brought Mufasa and Scar with them in thebfight against the Majingilane's. Mufasa fought intelligently and bravely, along side Scar and the remaining Mapogos, Until the last male Mapogo was beaten and left to die. He summoned Mufasa and left a will that the supervision and protection of the Pride be upon his paws. With that being said, Scar became outrageous and jealous and charged the Majingilanes all by himself getting mauled to death and got his nickname Scar.
It makes sense because Scar always say i am the head and you're the tail when it comes to brute strength. Something like that, he was never royalty. My professor pointed this out when you watched the movie closely. It's there in the movie you just got to pay attention to it. This also is presents in Simba's Pride when the female lions declared Scar as the one true king by blood. I read and hear it in the movie.
He doesn’t have to have royal blood nessacarily to pass down this message after being accepted into the pride he could have still learned the history of the pride lands and the past kings. (I have heard that this movie might be making mufasa the first king and that would definitely contradict though) simba claiming his rightful place as king in my opinion had nothing to do with his lineage but more of his qualities that make him the true heir for the throne.
I wish instead of a prequel they should make a after man movie
Well, that’s the problem. It’s a different version of Mufasa maybe the remake he’s an orphan, but in the original, it’s loyal bloodline.
EXACTLY and I'm sticking with that they FUCKED IT UP WITH THIS RETCON BS.
Wasn’t there a book in the 90s or early 2000s about Mufasa and Scar's backstory? Pretty sure Isaac Carlson or Seamus Gorman talked about it in a video a few years ago and it revealed that Scar is just a nickname, and said what his real name is. Now, sure, you can make the argument that Mufasa was adopted and then they had Scar so Mufasa is technically older, but Disney is 100% contradicting themselves with that book.
This is a Wattpad fanfiction that doesn't understand the original film.
Mufasa and Taka's(Scar) parents are King Ahadi and Queen Uru.
Really? They are making a shitty spinoff of the shitty remake?
Fun fact: Mads Mikkelsen who plays Kiros will sing in this movie. I am so excited to see him sing. Mads Mikkelsen is my favorite actor.
This shows that it doesn't matter if you are adopted, you are part of the family.

Indeed.
For he lives in you as we share a story about a King. 😎
Correct me if I'm wrong but do you fans remember the book that already confirmed Mufasa is adopted by Scars father who was not scar but named Taka at the time when scar was supposed to be King but the father named Ahadi chose Mufasa stirring up scar's Hatred for his Adopted Brother the fact that he doesn't know Mufasa is Adopted show's how much he knows nothing about Lion King Lore
@@Straifrike So the relationships of the characters you mentioned are true but as I recall it was never said that Mufasa was adopted in the book too.
@@Straifrike Tale of Two Brothers, right?
That's as much as I can think of as that is part of this coming movie.
If anyone would actually read the video description of the official trailer this wouldn't even be a discussion. Mufasa will be an orphan who's getting adopted from Scar's parents - which are ROYALTY. So when Mufasa talks to Simba in the first movie he's referring to his adoptive dad who told him about the great kings of the past. There's literally no contradiction at all
I'm just curious to see how Mufasa and Sarabi met, also young Rafiki and I'm confused about the snow and ice we saw from the beginning of the trailer it probably means Mufasa was from a pride far far away that strived in cold so snow lions? Don't know if that's a thing
While true, this would make Scar the actual legitimate king. He had every right to be pissed off he wasn't king then
@@KingAzxoll9 Exactly. Which would even make sense then
@@KingAzxoll9 You're missing the point. Kings shouldn't be decided by blood but by who is righteous.
Yea, it would. If they wanted to establish Mufasa was adopted, they would gave done so. These writers are not the same as the ones who were around in the 90s. Disney has had a track record lately if changing important details for no reason, other than political points.

Dont jump into conclusions so early. Give it chance
No it doesn’t!, oh my god, people really think they building up Mufasa’s backstory into one of an underdog orphan that was adopted by the royal family and grew up to replace said rulers over his adoptive brother matters about that scene?, it doesn’t!, Mufasa said: “the great kings of the past look down upon us, and one day I will be there too to guide you” but just because he isn’t royalty it wouldn’t matter?, no, because at that point in history, Mufasa was already king DESPISE not having a single drop of royal blood in him, it retcoms the “Kovu and Kiara”’s Romeo and Juliet plot line, since now Kovu will be able to be Scar’s son without interference of him being related to Kiara, “oh but Mufasa’s parents where Ahadi and Uru” Disney never made those stories official for all I know, I love the fact they kept Taka’s name from it, but in the end the franchise is theirs and they can build the storyline that they want with Mufasa’s background
He knew, because Rafiki, the royal mjuzi, taght him. Watch TLG for some heavy lore
I was so excited for it until I saw this trash trailer.
I thought it would be based off the book, “the tale of 2 brothers” and so I was really hyped up to see a live action version of Mufasas dad, Ahadi who gave Taka his scar, thereby earning him the name SCAR
Also means him and scar aren’t brothers and simba isn’t actually scars nephew also means that scar would’ve been first in line to be king but some orphan took the title, no wonder scar hated mufasa and his offspring
Apparently in the lion gaurd it explains that scar turned evil. He was once good and basically he lost his position as king due to his mismanagement of the "lion guard"
If you are evil technically you should lose your position as king. Also in the first movie when scar became king he destroyed everything and almost killed the entire pride.
“Simba, let me tell you something that my father told me.”
Gonna love this movie, I guarantee it !
I simply watch whatever Disney brings out as a standalone project that has no connection to previous projects.
Maybe he married into royalty 🤔
If it makes you feel better, just realize this is a prequel to the shitty remake, not the original classic. :)
Hope the disney wont destroy one of the goated fathers out there
Here's a theory of mine:
When mufasa and scar were cubs they were orphaned without a drop of royal blood in them. They were adopted by rafiki who taught them about the Great kings of the past and that older ones inherent that role while the younger were chosen ones were chosen to be the lion guard scar was unhappy with this choice but he accepted it. After when scar got his scar was renamed scar, mufasa became king. When scar killed the last lion guard and Lost his roar he struck up a partnership with the hyenas, leading to the events of the lion king.
Mufasa never said his father was a king.
“Simba...let me tell you something that my father told me. Look at the stars. The Great Kings of the Past look down on us from those stars. So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you...and so will I.” - Mufasa
Why would Mufasa’s father tell him that if he wasn’t a king. Also if Mufasa’s father wasn’t King, how did Mufasa become King and why was Scar next in line, until Simba was born?
Honestly we’re speaking too soon.
And it’s too early to make these sort of assumptions .
We will soon find out why he’s alone
Or maybe how his father before him told him about the kings possibly.
Cause a lone orphan lion cant come out of nowhere.
Hopefully the movie we will see what cause or what happened that cause the distance between him and his family

The worst part is how the lions smile. Like, imagine being on an African Safari and you see a whole lion pride staring at you while smiling.
You know what the biggest criticism of the first remake was? That the animals barely showed any emotions. So it's kinda weird that you pick that one thing where Disney actually listened to feedback
This movie will be awesome 😎
Wonder if loin guard is next?
A king can adopt a son
He'd have to be one lucky ass cub to be an orphan. When a lion takes over an established pride, after killing or chasing off the previous leader, the 1st thing he does is kill the previous brood, & sires his own. Nevermind the many other threats in the savanah that would destroy a baby lion.
I don’t have a problem of mufasa being an orphan but tbh they could have use that like how ppl on DeviantArt do with my fav characters you know
I have done A LOT of research and Ahadi, mufasa's adoptive father was one of the great kings, and when Mufasa came into the family, Taka (yes, taka is Scar's real name) became unwanted by his father Ahadi and Uru, taka's mom had to take care of him, but while he is out playing, his grandfather, Choyo was brainwashing him, and making Taka want to be king, that's where he makes a plan on how to kill Mufasa since he's basically the next one in line for being king.
Also, mufasa's parents died and Ahadi and Uru adopted him and made sure he was ready to be king
I feel like he perhaps was referring to the kings of the past from his adopted family
He could know abt it from how his adopted father told him
What if Mufasa’s wife who can’t remember the name of right now was royalty
"This contradicts what we thought we knew..."
Uh, no, it contradicts what we know. This isn't canon.
While I understand that this is a difrent timeline than the animated movie it’s still frustrating because this is probably the closest to a cannon past for mufasa and scar we will ever get and it crushes everything we know about their lives and makes scar more sympathetic than he needs to be and that waters down his character and villainy but that’s just my opinion I’m still going to watch it
I’m like how people think they can totally understand everything about a movie just from a teaser trailer. 🙄
