- The Toxic Relationship Between Scar & His Father In Disney's Lion King Is Not For The Faint Of Heart...
It’s common in Disney and Pixar movies for a character to have a strained relationship with one of their parents. In Aladdin, Jasmine and her father were constantly arguing. And Luca didn’t see eye to eye with his parents’ view on humans in the movie Luca. But no relationship has been as strained or as toxic as the one between Scar and his father, King Ahadi. Be warned, though. This is not a happy story.

Fun fact: a lot of African tribes have a tradition of naming weak/sick babies names with less-than-pleasant meanings to keep the spirits from taking them. Ergo, Ahadi and Uru naming Scar "Taka" was their way of keeping him from dying as a cub.
I love this

As far as I know...
For a while, King Ahadi loved both his sons equally, but that changed over time. Taka began to make friends with the hyenas living on the border of Ndnona's lion pride territory, which was, of course, forbidden to a lion.
From then on, Ahadi turned away from his second son, only caring for 'the golden boy' Mufasa. Muafasa's character also changed, he became pompous with his brother and spent less and less time with him.
As a result, Taka became estranged from his father and brother, and from all the other members of the lion pride except his mother, Queen Uru.
Taka may have received the scar, which later became his trademark, from his father as a child or as a young adult, or it may have been given to him by his brother Mufasa when Taka challenged him for leadership of the pride. From then on, Taka died and Scar was born.
King Ahadi grew old and named his eldest son Mufasa as king of the Ndona Pride.
From then on, Taka spent all his time with his mother. Uru sensed that he would soon be taking after his mate, so he asked "his little prince" that if he could not forget the hurtful words and rough play of his father and brother, he should at least forgive them.
The next morning only Scar woke up, Uru was dead. The "eternal second" prince was left alone for a long time after that.
finally someone got it right👍

By the way, the Show "The Lion Guard" reveals how Scar got his scar. He was bitten by a snake.
Man you are right on correct. I also am a black sheep my names enos ivbaze from nigeria I can relate.
3:41 honestly all the excuses they give for his scar don’t add up AT ALL.
Being struck by a buffalo would mean his whole face and body would be broken. A snake bite would have two puncture marks.
Nah, Scar got his scar from his “father” (his bio daddy was the guy/Lion his mother was messing w on the side)
😢
Ya it actually makes more sense.
look at the lion guard episode Scar gets his scar from a snake that venom makes him bad
The snake later gave kion the same scar tho so it could have been that he moved or kinda blocked the other fang
That is literally what I was thinking the entire video! The Dad probably didn't believe Scar was his
I definitely believe that scar would not have been a villain if his father showed that he loved him and expected alot from him.
Yea true
This is Thor and Loki now 😂😂😂
Taka also means "To Want"
As in "wanting to be king". I like that translation a little bit better.
@@nina-raedelong158 although it also means "waste, trash or to waste."

Technically Scar should have been king since black maned lions are stronger then golden mane lions and lions can have a Coalition of two or three brothers who can rule the land even tho one would be alpha to have rights to mate.
Dude scar should not have been king no!
@@FantasticFawnleap lions irl favor ones with black manes. The dark coloration comes from testosterone and the more successful and confident a lion is, the more testosterone it has and therefore the darker its mane is, and other lions know this. So the other lions favor lions with darker manes

Just a quick note, Taka can also mean to want in Swahili. Still not great though.
You're right
Depends on the context given@@mecahhannah
It is the father's fault, for not loving them equally
Correct
The name "Taka" isn't actually canon, the A tale of true brothers book isn't canon the canon backstory was from the Lion Guard his name was confirmed to be Askari named after the first leader of the Lion Guard which... IS CANON. Mufasa means "King" in swahili, Askari on the other hand actually means soldier, he was named to protect his big brother ar the leader of the guard.
Then who was the cub at the very end of the original movie Rafiki walked up and presented to all of the Pridelands that had black ears whereas in the sequel, Kiara as a baby had no black on her ears when Nala carried her in her mouth?
@@Elysia63 The baby at the end of the first Lion King was called Fluffy as a place holder, when Lion King first came out Disney didn't actually think the movie would be successful neither did anyone think it would be worthy of sequel. However, when they did make the sequel the cub was later named and confirmed to be Kiara.
@@Elysia63 Kiaras older brother who died
@@lexussykes You mean, Kopa? Yes, I am aware of that. I was just asking the person and testing their knowledge of who the cub was at the end. (
Well the book isn't canon anymore but it used to be before the lion guard came along, but saying it was a snake is just weird cause it doesn't really fit to how it looks. A snake bite wouldn't look like that right? Plus he'd be blind if that was the case since snakes are poisonous, or some are.
It could be because Scar reminded Ahadi of himself and his own weaknesses.
When someone is made to feel unvalued, their bitterness can cause them to do some horrible things later on in life. They'll often take it out on people who didn't hurt them at all. Hurting people hurt people.

What do I think...it is taking an obviously established evil fictional character who initially had no real back story then creating a endless stream of what if's to try to paint him as possibly a victim. Yet you see in the main movie that he murders the king and then instead of justly ruling he is a tyrant.
The only way any prior speculative stories can be made to set him as possibly just a abused victim who went for revenge is if the initial part of the story were completly altered. He would have at least tried to make the kingdom function to some degree otherwise but it plainly states he stripped the land dry purposly.
Many people not so well mentally were victims of some sort at some point in their lives.
Booth can be true at the same time. Even in the first movie we see how Mufassa treats him, constsntly putting his physical advantage over him. Dominating and in a sense even unessrsarily "demasculating" Scar. His Name is also changed after his injury he carries in his face, and even then kinda gives us a reason for all the resentment and why he became this ruthless and evil.
His downfall booth tied to the Hyenas and the lack of love he inspired in his subjects. So adding some more background isn't the problem. You just gotta learn that you can acknowledge evil and the origin why. No one is born evil. But they still get judged for it all the same.
@@TrafalgarWaterDLaw-dl5cm I do not dissagree with your reasoning but choosing to become a monster because of the abusers around oneself is not the answer.
While a child has no way of removing themselves from their abusers on their own they can still choose not to give into the liars whispers. Eventually all individuals must accept that they can not co-exists around those that refuse to accept them. That they must remove themselves stop wasting their love on those monsters and foster relations with more ginuine individuals.
Yes there will be slander and other means used to turn the abused into monsters but that is what the abusers want. It gives them an excuse to destroy the abused person or to make anything they speak about seem a lie. It is simply a game psycologicly that they use to try to destroy the witness.
In the end one must choose to become spiritually awaked or to give in to the hate. Most give in to hate and seek revenge. Not knowing they only reienforce the abusive monsters labling of them to all those around. What they can not see is that there is a whole world outside of their tiny existance and that eventually they will meet others who are not wolves in sheeps clothes.
My comment is about how the original character must have alterations made to his disposition in order for origin stories like these to fit in. But you cannot go about changing the narative to suit ones own agenda. Truth is truth and lies are lies. Half truthes are just manipulations of reality. If they truely wish to make these new origin stories make sense they must go back to the original material and make a alternative version from scars perspective and use his offscreen time to show another side of him. Until then all these what ifs are meaningless what ifs.
He was literally named Trash.
The _Real_ Villain was Ahadi the whole time! (And all bc their fathers wife/mate cheated, obviously and Scar was the result)

If The Lion King gotten another movie I can see Simba Shenzi Banzai Ed and the Hyenas becoming allies especially with Shenzi telling Simba about his grandfather and how bad and evil his grandfather was to his uncle I'm imagining Simba hating his grandfather more than his Uncle Scar especially after finding out the truth and Shenzi telling him his grandfather is the reason why she and her family are forced to live in The Elephant Graveyard.
As kids we saw him as a monster but now I can understand his pain😖
Scar getting a redemption arc would be rather cool to see I can imagine Simba Kovu and Kiara Shenzi Banzai Ed and the Hyenas discovering the truth about Simba's grandfather and I can imagine Simba now hating his grandfather more than Scar especially Shenzi Banzai and Ed becoming allies and friends to Simba would be awesome too I like Hyenas.
I especially like The Hyena Trio.
Also in the lion guard there is a. Different backstory for how he got his scar but when I get the chance I am gonna take a look at a tale if two brothers because that seems really important
i feel pity for scar
😭
This gives me Odin, Thor and Loki vibes from Marvel
Nice video.
If they do address the relationship in the upcoming special, I think it would actually work if this is how they approach the issue.
To coin a phrase from a friend of mine "the best kind of villainy is the kind when the villain is perfectly within their rights to be upset, but go about it in all the wrong ways."
Hades and Maleficent(both incarnations) are prime examples, however 2014 Maleficent realizes her mistake, and does everything she can to rectify it.
This can also be seen in other media like X-Men with Magneto, or Batman: the animated series with Mr. Freeze.
Then there's alsoThor from 2011, which runs a bit similar yet differently.
I think it would be interesting to have this be the reason why Scar was evil, and the icing on the cake...Ahadi created his own Frankenstein.
Even so scar committed the sin of killing his brother for the actions of his dad did and that is where he went wrong but I digress that muffasa could have done more as well but did not
❤ Awesome as always thanks
The thumbnail got me
The name scar has a doublemeaning,, he ahs a scar on his face,,,, but he also has a huge scar in his soul.
I can't wait mufasa the lion king 2024
You will be disappointed 😂
He will die and is specicist towards hyenas.. The end :)
Me neither
Scar would have been evil regardless because he wasn’t as strong as mufasa but felt like he was smarter…He was gonna want to be king no matter what
Nice video very good and entertaining.😁
Mufasa is good and scar is evil
❤❤❤
Poor Scar; living in the shadow of his brother, to be abused by his father. MAAAAN no wonder my bro fell to the wayside. Favoritism never ends well and adding abuse only makes it 100 times worse.
When I look at this story I think of Gods of Egypt when the Sun God RA declared Unitis his first son King of Egypt while his second son Seth ruled the deserts leaving him nothing and was denied a son while Seth was married to Goddess Memphis
Almost named that boy Kaka, would’ve been worse 😭
My parents treat me horribly compared to my siblings. I can very much relate to Scar. And I feel so bad for him.
Scar being a dark mane lion was probably seen as a threat even by his own father.
0:49 Well, that's nice...
Fun fact, the darker haired lion would be considered the more masculine out of the two lions. All the females would have wanted scar and not mufsa in real life lol.
It's either that or What if Scar raised Simba.
Nice theory and story. I that's just the way it is on how Scar came to be.
In the "A Tale of Two Brothers" origin story, You're right that Ahadi could have reassured Taka that the three of them would go on a hunt as soon as possible. Still, as for the rest of the story, it seems that the only reason Ahadi's favoring Mufasa and diminishing Taka is that Mufasa really does understand kingly duties and Taka's a spoiled brat.
I’d go with the lion guard explanation of how scar got his scar since in that episode scar does explain that story himself
I wonder how Ahadi would have treated Kion after he got his scar.
Even worse!!
They should animate this giving the road Disney is on
4:01 i mean i cant blame ahadi for it
Tbh i think skar got his evilness from being mistreated 😢
I keep hearing "ah hottie".
I think that made him succeptable to villiany. There could have been other influence like the hyenas who lived seperate from the kingdom or the outlanders remember until Simba told Kovu he never understood what happened with scar as told by simba. They have different perspectives, really all I know is it's not natural for lions to eat mice for lunch. I don't think Simba was any help at all.
Well according to the new movie... Nope! Lol
The new one isnt canon

Poor scar
Guys Mufasa was a great father right? What if he had two sons, would he act like his father by praising one of them and break down the other or would he treat them both equally.
Simba in the Lion Guard certainly showed favortism towards his cubs. (Although I take Simba's personality in that series with a grain of salt since his movie version had a totally different personality).
@@CynderSpirit You are right, his personality does change, but maybe he matured from a young ruler to becoming a father of two and king of the Pride lands. There was a large time skip.
That’s mess up
Wooo I always new that scar was scared cause they did the same to kovu when he was a cub by grooming him for evil
I never in my lifetime thought i'd feel bad for scar 😅
BTW taka can also mean want in Swahili
Scar looks more like ahadi than mufasa
Word is mufusa was a an orphan and wasn’t even the blood son
Ahadi was a Terrible father, and I though Mufasa was the one Disney character that I hated the most 😡
King Ahadi sounds like a two faced father he loved muffusa more than he did scar muffusa was his father favorite child scar should have been treated no different for crying out loud that's your son and saying scar isn't fit to be king also being jealous of his brother that's what sets him to be evil 😈 in the future lion King
Correct its sad
This says alot.
The dad is the reason why scar is the way he is that is messed up
Man, I wish this was story for the new Mufasa movie and instead they decided to not use this. The trailer shows they are completely ignoring that this novel exists.
Sasuke: What Did You Say About Taka 🤔😤
I hope they include ahadi in the new movie
Why at a few points is his scar on the other side of his face?
Timone and Puma are amazing fathers…can we all just stop and appreciate that…😂 The rest are just garbage!
I always think rare people are genuine born evil, but from reality most cases is just poor treatmeant.
Well actually now mufasa is an orphan who was lost, till he met taka(aka scar) and accepted him as his brother and they had different parents by different names, no ahadi and uru
You can see more by reading cast for next lion king movie prequel
I can't wait for the Mufasa movie.
Weird tho, because the lion guard said scar was scarred by a snake with a venom that turned him evil. That in a series that explained why kion was not in lion king 2
Fun fact...Lions rule in coalition, so Mufasa needs Scar if they have any chance of ruling over the pridelands territory 😂
Make am original serie of this please. It wil be a big succes!
If their father was a king, why does the new Mufasa trailer make it seem like Mufasa has no royal blood at the beginning?
Lions fight bro
Fun fact: Lions with darker manes tend to be more popular with the females. Their dark manes are caused by high levels of testosterone in their body, making them fit to be the pride’s male or “king of the pride lands” as Disney would call it.
So in other words, scar had daddy problems.
Mufasa looks more as his father ngl.
I watched a documentary about lions, they put mock lions out one with a light mane and one with a dark mane the lionesses were more interested in the dark maned male
grew up speaking swahili.
king is 'mfalme' and trash is 'taka taka'
So scar wasn't the real villain after all. He was made that way.
Where can u read a tale of 2 brothers??
There's gonna be a movie about mufasa?

Scar’s full name is askari

Disney lied to us scar should have been the dominant one lions with black mains are stronger
But i think he has some other metanolosm or muscle issues. He has the dfive and dominsnce but lacks the strengh and size.
Mufassa has that snd keeps using thst to threaten Scar into accepting his authority. As we saw in the OG movie.
Its also a anthro Animal tale using human systems of royal succession. So he basicly got his throne as firstborn. And Scar had to "deal with it" or challenge him physically. The new successors birth was the nail on the coffin.
Mufasa is Boromir from The Lord of the Rings and Scar is Faramir.
😢 Taka was adopted. Not a real brother 😢
Bro just cause they look nothing alike the reason why they look nothing like each other’s cause of their parents Ahadi looks like Mufasa and uru looks exactly like scar
He's not both siblings take after both their parents' red hair comes from Uru and black hair comes from Ahadi While as Mufasa has Ahadi's coat Scar takes Urus coat
@GlitchyBear614 according to Disney he was adapted 😅
Didn’t the first movie say that scar was the older brother so what is that book just be contradicting already information
Ok, so your changing facts and I have to now personally look at everything to see the real story. Mufasa in the live action actually stands up for Scar. When he's told that he should exile Scar he responds "He is my brother. This is his home. As long as I'm king, that will never change." It's Scar who says "I wouldn't dream of challenging you again."
How you find the prequel lol
why do they always spell it aaditi and never ahadi?
