What an adventure! To watch you both sail; repairs underway, enduring lightning storms, weather mapping, constant sail changes, fatigued and still keep spirits high….is a is a wonder to behold. Another exceptional episode.
Not To to be to stereotypical, you both are the epitome of what I think about the British culture. Always making the best of a difficult situation and a positive attitude/outlook. Kudos to you both. Ps love the videos! Best of luck with the rest of your adventures
It’s good to watch you working, suffering, bonding together. Young people rarely do that any more. It truly is a heartfelt pleasure because we have become quite fond of you two. I know you don’t know us; but we feel like we are getting to know you and we’re better for it. Thanks for that. Texas
I've shared your videos with my Dad. He was in the merchant navy in the 60's carrying out runs between Africa and the far east. He thinks you're amazing for making this trip in a 37 foot yacht. He was scared on a daily basis on a merch ship. @balls of steel.
I wanted to tell you, both, how much pleasure you bring to an old sailor who can sail no more. Challenging our talents and abilities as well as pushing ourselves beyond what we think we can do was my compass through my life. I admire your courage and fortitude. May the seas look after you as they did me.
Incredible!! Having to sail a boat through pretty rough seas but to film it as well is unbelieveible. And filmed to a top notch standard I might add. You guys are just incredible. Cant wait for the next one.
What a amazing display or resilience, determination, bravery, teamwork and expertise. And Love. It also confirmed two convictions that I've come to through years of dinghy cruising: that the best yacht sailors are experienced dinghy sailors, and secondly that RACING experience (easiest done in a dinghy) is key to building skills even for crusing. This video showcases years and years of teamwork and boat-handling in boats that give you second-by-second feedback.
You guys are amazing. You work so well together. It IS very scary being in the middle of the ocean in lightning storms. It's quite incredible how well you're documenting your experience. Thank you so much 😎👏🌬🌬🌬⛵
Wow, that was a great episode! You’ve managed to capture the excitement, frustration, fear, discomfort, joy, and teamwork of sailing offshore. Really great. One thing you’re doing that I don’t always see on sailing channels is you wearing life jackets, in really hot weather, even in the cockpit - I’m sure your parents are pleased about that! Good work on fixing the autopilot, I thought that was a goner.
Omg , have been waiting on the edge of my seat for the past two weeks . So glad your equipment came back. Can't wait for next installment . Very exciting lives you two. Love it. 😍
Super stuff. You two make very watchable videos. They are exciting to watch and I learn from them too. Like, 'stay out of the Southern Ocean' lol. I admire your calmness under stressful conditions. I'm a sucker for the cute moments too. Fair winds. John
Florence I hope everything continues to be well for you in the balance of your Indian ocean cruise. Good show, you are a very experienced sailor couple. May the providence be with you two all the way til you guys call the port of the Seychelles.
Another fabulous video Matt and Amy. Excellent video and editing skills. i am sure you're safe in the Seychelles by now, but I am also sure I speak for everyone here... more more more! Please post more videos, and longer ones too :) John.
Thanks John, We are in Seychelles and we did shoot a lot of video on the passage here so we have a lot of hours of work to turn it into more episodes, but there is plenty more coming. It takes us about 40 hours of editing per video though so bear with us.
@@SailingYachtFlorence Yep, I can well imagine it is a huge amount of work that is needed to produce your videos. It has to be said though, that your finished results are excellent. The footage, content and subject matter, production etc all are top class. Oh, and it is also evident that you both work so well together on all levels which makes for a great result all round. Stuck in the doldrums in the Indian Ocean or learning to conquer ones fears of the deep by scuba diving, I very much enjoy your videos. Keep safe and I’ll look forward to the next one. Ps: I’m an amateur photographer, feel free to browse my gallery which is very much mature related, same name as my UA-cam name with dot uk after it. 😊
IMNSHO, one of your best videos ever,,,showing the ups and downs of your honestly presented lives. Very well done, mates...in all story-telling video aspects. Thank you!
Hi folks. I have been following your great adventure on and off as time allows for the past 2 years. It's a pleasure watching a young couple live their dream. As a sailor myself I can appreciate the trials and tribulations you go through. Well done! Al Hester Vancouver, Canada
its very inspiring to watch how you competently and calmly deal with everything mother nature throws at you! for us armchair sailors, living vicariously through your adventure is a real treat. Be safe and I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Absolutely brilliant. I have been gone for 2 months and you guys have made an amazing progress. Can’t wait to binge watch all the past videos. You guys are amazing.
You two are far braver than me, there is no way that I would take a 37' boat across an ocean. My hats off to you both and I really enjoy the adventure you bring.
Hi guys !! what a great journey you are making ... I follow you comfortably from Barcelona city, Spain .... keep it up and enjoy it as much as possible .... I already wish to see you arrive at the Seychelles ... lots of courage and always better winds !!!
You guys are wonderful at telling your story, loving it AND filming at the same time?!?!!!! Wow! I am impressed. Also that you keep your witts about you(well...what we see). My husband and I would have been snapping at each other due to frustration and exhaustion. You guys are a great team. Can't wait to see what happens next episode.
Thanks Susan, Everybody snaps now and then, but pointing a camera in the face at that point is liable to end up with the camera over the side (at least!). Thankfully we find that the bigger the adversity, the more strongly we pull together. After 5 years of living within 37ft of each other 24-7 our team work has greatly improved!
Hey guys. So pleased you made it through that bit and your equipment came back to life. Hopefully you can settle into a better boat rhythm, catch up on some kip and relax a bit more
even though circumstances made this big hurdle even larger, so very glad you have made it to the next leg of your journey. safe travels from Florida USA
Sorry about the difficult passage but I am hoping you have made across since you are uploading videos. You guys are one of my favorite channels ever on UA-cam. I love how you are always a team. You are amazing filmmakers as well. I much appreciate all the explanations regarding the winds and storms. Wishing you well and always fair winds. Cheers.
I owned a 45 Irwin Ketch 25 years ago, I will have to say I was lucky and never had any lighting strikes. However in a Lear Jet 35 years ago I did take a lighting strike climbing out of 16,000 feet. Typically a strike in an airplane does little damage. In our case we lost the whole electrical system and had to rely on emergency batteries to power out attitude instrument that was much smaller and difficult to fly with. This was at 4:30 AM we continued to climb and found our self above the clouds. With no nav and no radios. The weather back East was good 😊. We found our destination airport from ground references along the way as we flew this route every day. We landed safely and the airplane was parted out as many components were damaged. I could not imagine taking a strike on a sail boat. Placing the back up gear in the microwave was a good idea. 😁🛫
Wauw! Amazingly great video. Thank you so much! Can't wait to see the next one. Shows character you can still smile in those conditions and sleep deprived. Fair winds! Sanne
Wow. I hope the rest of the trip goes well. Pretty amazing you can upload video from the middle of the Indian Ocean. Thanks for the video! Sail On! : )
Wow, you guys have really had a tough time of it. Not fair! You have already paid you dues. My last boat (Cal-46 ) carried nearly 300 gallons of diesel. I could have just said screw it, stuck up a reefed main and made quick time to the trades. We had around a 1500 mile motoring range. Loved that feature. I’ll say ……….fair winds. You deserve them.
Thanks for the promise of better sailing weather coming soon. After the grim struggle and the instrument failures, I think we need it almost as much as you must have. Heavy going this week. You are very honest, and that brings the reality home. Stay safe, and fair winds.
Excellent video. I watch several sailing channels and yours is by far the best, not only for your interaction with the people and cultures you meet on your travels but for your sailing skills. Safe passage.
Speaking of "cultures you meet," why does everyone seem to skip coastal India sailing and charge straight across the Indian ocean from Indonesia....missing half the world's population to go straight for the Seychelles ?
Seychelles was the only place that was open and would let us in at the moment. Visiting India also only really would have made sense if we were planning to go through Suez instead of round Africa.
@@SailingYachtFlorence ....I have watched a number of pre-COVID episodes from other crossings....everybody seems more focused on the circumnavigation than on seeing/experiencing what's along the coasts....yes, of course that's much longer, but I thought seeing the world, through it's people, was the point, not getting a Point A to Point B chore accomplished (circumnavigation), though I do wonder what other threats besides COVID you'd experience if exploring that part of the world. 🤔 Ironic that we might conclude "No thanks, safer to avoid our species and stay at sea." 🙄🙂
