yeah but HLTV's list has become what everyone refers to when talking about how good a player was in a given season so it's a must for them to have a model that they follow year in year out

Ropz outside of the top 3 in my opinion is crazy don't get me wrong number 4 is a great place however I feel like Fazes early success with their 16 match win streak or however long it is was based heavily off of Ropz. Not carrying necessarily but just being unwaveringly consistent
ropz is 2nd best in his role because spinx is better, its pretty easy to understand
His performance this year was great, but not good enough for top 3. I Would've probably not even put him at 4, maybe not even 5. Arguably sh1ro and m0nesy had a better year.

@@uranus256 ropz won more trophies but sh1ro was definitely the better player which is what the list SHOULD measure. sh1ro is better vs top 5 opponents than ropz is vs top 50 and the top 5 vs top 5 isn't even worth mentioning because sh1ro clears him so hard.
sh1ro has better stats in:
overall rating, LAN rating, Big event rating, elite event rating, KPR, DPR, impact, KAST, top 5/10 rating, %of rounds with a kill, %of rounds with a multikill, %of maps above 1.0 rating, and more clutches per round.
ropz has better stats in:
playoff rating, adr

Surprised that electronic didn't make it to the top 20. He certainly had not a good year overall since c9 was struggling a lot, but in my opinion, he deserves his place at top 20 list (from №20 to №15 I guess)

I was never a huge fan of Monesy but I sure do respect him the most. He took jokes and criticism from older professionals at 15-16yo about being predictable and repetitive, didnt crumble, worked upon it to become the trickiest, most unpredictable player there is in this game. As a navi fan, i wish him all the best.

#1-3 Predictions: Zywoo, Niko, Spinx, though after their 5th trophy I wouldn't be surprised if Spinx is placed #2.
its definitely those 3 players, and zwyoo is easily #1 so in reality it is a question of who is second? Niko had the higher rating with only 2 trophies (though pretty big ones) or Spinx with 5 trophies as the 2nd star on the best team. Gonna be interesting

if you’re in the toronto area and capable of going to this lan, DO IT. i’m an old man now, but at some of these early lans i met friends i go disc golfing with, out to the bar with, even stand in their wedding and still play games with, 15 years later. launders i applaud you for everything you’ve always done for cs on a small level as well as on stages and for the entire scene as a whole.
Ropz is the only player in cs2 i saw with a 99 aimrating in leetify. Guy is just insane.

3 - Spinx, 2 - Niko, 1 - Zywoo. However, I would personally include Ropz in my top 3 while putting Niko or Spinx 4th (hard to decide here honestly).
Niko is locked for nr2. Ropz is nowhere close to him

Shiro being in top 15 but baitf getting eco frags and stat padding all year long gets 9. Very disappointing list imo this year
Blamef is a fraud. He can only play with M4A1s because of easy recoil and always stats pad with eco frags. Astralis can't win anything with him because he also can not call

Furia might have had a disappointing year to say the least but kscerato 100% deserves a spot in top 20 in my opinion

Im looking so much forward to next years counter strike!! and def next years top 10 !! in 2023 we had a divided year with both csgo and cs2. its gonna be awesome to see who is gonna come out on top in cs2! especially with all the crazy roster changes and new projects like falcons. its all so exciting.

@@AndreiLucaa im 90% sure Lau included both of them in the top 10 because of their ratings, but the problem with doing that is because Astralis farmed some tier 2 tournaments sometime around the middle of the year, which really boosted their stats. Devve I agree with, but BlameF is absolutely way too high.

its probably because of their run on Blast, iem cologne and ESL pro league, sure they not winning but they have good run and both of them are the main carry
also those 3 is pretty stack tournament, especially iem and pro league. but it just in span of 3-4 months ( they manage to get top 5 hltv actually), but then half the year they re still bad LOL

I dont see a world where Ropz is top 1 next year. Ofc it depends of big IF, but ZywOo can play at least as good with riffle (and is better with awp and pistol), NiKo can do it with the riffle, and imo Donk will just be the best riffle next year. But I'm clearly looking forward to 2024

Honestly this might be one of Laus worst lists. The second part was clearly better than the first one but there are some things that I just cannot understand. How is BlameF for example 5 places infront of a guy like Sh1ro. Laus reason in the first list was that Sh1ro had to little deep tournament runs, however in this video he says that big runs do not matter as much when your performance (especially when you are in a team that would not be able to make a lot of deep runs) is just good enough. Laus second point was that Sh1ro stats were a bit inflated.
Blamef on the other hand is judged completely differently. His stats are arguably more inflated, he gets more setup and to top it all of he had even less big event participations and deep runs than Sh1ro. And Sh1ro has better stats than Blamef has. So how can Blamef be rated above Sh1ro? Personally I just cannot see any reason for something like that. Also ranking someone like device or maybe even s1mple above Sh1ro is questionable in my opinion.
Another thing that bothers me with this list is the fact that players like Nertz, Ax1le or kscerato are missing while we have players like Xertion (who isn‘t a bad player but far of from a guy like nertz for example) who are here instead.
100% agreed, had same toughts, all 3 players u mentioned (Nertz, Axile, KSCERATO) i belive they deserve the spot insead of Xertion (even doe i love the guy) and sh1ro placement should've been way higher with his rating, impact, amount of highlighs, basically everything stands behind him. Not to menion that players like Device did not show basically anything playing big events and he still is placed that high. This is the only thing that bothered me, i can live with rest of the list.
I think this is why laus said himself his lists are nowhere near as complex or good as the hltv one, because its gonna be more inconsistent and personal based for his list, while the ranking system for hltv has what i imagine are groups of people mulling it over with no personal attachment
@@thinker8923 yeah true, but even then I think that putting xertion on here and while leaving very strong players out isn‘t really justifiable that way. If I would do my own list with personal bias I would still not put a guy like hobbit or roej on the list just because I like them. The reason for that is that I know that both of them do not deserve to be placed in such a list when there are multiple players who had an objectively better year.

I agree except for 1 position 4 should be m0nesy and 5 should be ropz. Its pretty huge recency bias imo to put ropz above the russian since Faze was struggling in the whole year besides Kato till Cs2 and while ropz is insane in CS2 so is monesy. I think the AWPer had an overall better year than ropz so i dont really understand why he is lower than ropz.
But the positions are fine. As for the top 3 Niko and Zywoo (later is #1) is for sure but idk about the 3rd. What is wierd is that there wont bw any Heroic player in top 10 but it makes sense cuz even tho they were dominant for months they've barely won anything ANS even that they won cuz of teamplay.

Although... The best teams this year were G2 and Vit so i guess the 3rd should be from 1 of these teams.

Even against G2 at G8 Magisk had to go absolutely crazy to get an OT so they can win the event when Zywoo woke up.
Dont get me wrong Spinx defo has a spot in the top 10 this yr but... Top 3? No way.

smoking some serious shit. better stats + more games than s1mple and BlameF and while dev1ce has better stats he's also played only 50 maps at big events. not to mention frozen who also placed above sh1ro somehow with worse stats and the exact same sample size + frozen falls off vs top competition + frozen is a massive DPR abuser with the lowest DPR this year but only .7 KPR which would make him like 17th this year.

Frozen has a 1.13 vs Top 5 teams and 1.18 rating against top 10 teams. For reference that is almost as good as Spinx or Ropz. He also has 0.73 KPR which is top 10 of all players in tier 1 cs 2023. Brother please get your facts right my goodness. @@bobbobinski4285

Cloud 9 had no deep runs. I cant even remember the last time sh1ro was in playoffs. Also dev1ce carries a team that would be tier 2 without him. C9 without sh1ro is still a top 5 team as we've seen. For dev1ce to post the same rating with a much worse team is impressive.

Borup, buzz, and staehr are just trash TBH. dev1ce and blameF had to carry those guys all year round. sh1ros teammates are so much better. And just because C9 lost one game doesn't mean much. They are still a great team without sh1ro and that is my entire point. Astralis needs dev1ce a lot more than C9 needed sh1ro and its very easy to see who has more impact in their team

s1mple and blameF have worse stats and a smaller sample size but make top 10 over sh1ro????? s1mple 74 maps at big events, sh1ro 75, dev1ce 54.
sh1ro has more deep runs than dev1ce and blameF as well as better accolades than both and a larger sample size and he's 15. frozen only has 7 more maps than sh1ro at big events but he's #6 with worse stats too (especially since frozen is a massive DPR abuser with barely above .7 KPR and the lowest DPR and low impact compared to sh1ro who has .78 KPR, behind only zywoo)
